OMG I soooo miss Chex Mix and have not been able to think of a way to low carb it. I AM SO IMPRESSED! I have thought of 3 variations already!! Sweet and Savory. thank you Thank You THANK YOU!
I made this recipe tonight for Christmas munchies. It’s delish! I doubled the recipe. My family loves a Chex mix type munch. Finding this keto recipe is great!
I made this today with a couple of variations and I am ECSTATIC!!!!! I know food should not be the judge of happiness; but, isn't it a PLUS when it does? Thanks SOOOOOO much! I can see me staying on track with all of your yummy recipes.
+Kristi Nichols Yay! Yes, there's a peanut butter chocolate version you can make, and a cinnamon version! Lots of yumminess! I have to confess that I overeat this, so it won't be something I make again until the holidays.
I am going to try this recipe. I start a more stringent low carb this weekend. Low carb works! I started following you this year. Love that you actually cook and talk about the ingredients. Keep up the great informative work!
thank you! that's very kind. in addition to the staying on plan series, I'll be doing some back to basics videos for folks following very strict low carb.
You've got my mouth watering Kristie. You can bet I'll be making this soon. You're so down to earth , that's part of what makes your videos fun to watch. I was cracking up watching you come out of that microphone so you could get to the oven. Where is help when you need it ;-) Merry Christmas to you and yours!
What a wonderful munchie idea even for no holidays!!! Non pork Kosher considerations: Keto tortilla chips seasoned and crunched up, or I immediately thought of fried egg whites too, (please forgive me I cant remember original creator of those). Fried Egg whites may not be as stable as chips, but they are very crunchy.
I can't wait to try this recipe. My son and I are going to do the Keto way starting New Years and am getting so many wonderful ideas from you. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Looks good. I love your recipes and I am going to have to get your book. I am from N.C. Where is your support group located. Thank you for sharing your awesome recipes. Have a good day.
I realize this is an older video but I just watched it and want to make this. I have noticed that peanuts seem to come in many different carb counts. I buy the planters red skin peanuts that are listed at 1 net carb per 28grams. So that would end up being four carbs per 100 grams. Might have to add more peanuts and less pecans to lower the carb count a bit. I don't know how it would work but I've bought containers of popcorn seasoning that come in cheddar or ranch that are listed as zero carb to actually flavor pork skins and I see no reason to not use them in this mix if you want either of those flavors. I'm imagining a bowl of ranch flavored not chex mix. I like pork skins but out of the bag they can be dry and dusty texture so the butter and seasoning may be a real improvement.
There is a difference between pork rings and q cracklins. Cracklins are the small hard ones, pork rinds are the fluffy ones, people think they are the same
I love your recipes. this one is great. my husband wants popcorn very badly. he has been on this diet for 6 weeks. is there anyway to make a popcorn substitute with pork rinds?? we have tried cauliflower...PLEASE!!!
We do not have the Carolina brand of Pork Rinds down here in FL (that I could find locally at least) so I'll have to check them out online. HOWEVER, that Macs brand I found at the Dollar General store for only $1 per bag! They had them in plain, BBQ and salt and vinegar. There was a big empty spot by them, so they might have had the spicy ones too. But they had two rows of plain in stock, and like I said, for just a buck. And it was a bigger bag than the ones in this video, it was the next size up.
+Stephanie Grams No I haven't tried the microwave ones but I've been wanting something to have for movie night with the kids. I'm going to look for them at my stores.
hey not sure if this was totally ok but I got desperate for eggnog when my hubby'd brought me home one swallow of egg nog he took into a work party...to not hurt his feelings, i thanked him but I rinsed out the bottle but before I tossed it I read all the ingredients and Thought shoot I can make my my own...I got four egg yolks added in heavy cream, some whole milk splenda for sweet...stevia too for emulsifying and bulk...and a ton of nutmeg...took that bottle and shook it shook it...then I noticed the yolks were all still pretty much whole...LOL after I quit laffn I broke them up and shook it again...It was not bad & I only want one tiny lil slurp a day...with it being raw eggs I'm not gonna share it with my eat'n folks...but it's really not bad tasting. what kind of rum is lo carb?? LOL just kiddn. If I don't die from an egg disease Y'all have a happy holiday!
+ccccarbonell This chex mix is great to sneak into movies! so are pepperoni chips and cheese chips. I have a video on those. You could also do an antipasta mix of olives, meats, and cheeses!
Sorghum is a decent popcorn substitute. Dr. Eric Berg has a video on this and it’s to be used very rarely but if your husband has a real hankering this can really be a great alternative.
ps...oh and being a cheapie and a lazy cook LOL I took the four eggwhites and made 2 big omlettes for my hubby with tons of veggies and his lo fat cheese ( blech ) lol lol lol...Monday is our 30th anniversary and I won't have to cook fresh that morning. GB
+Emily B hmm....could you use chicken skins? You would need to fry them yourself I'm afraid, but if you could toss small pieces into very hot oil, that might work.
Nothing can replace the original Chex mix recipe or ingredients I think around the holidays once a year you can have it in it’s traditional form. There’s no need to re-create it in my opinion if you can’t indulge a little bit with food when you’re on a diet the rest of the year then what’s the point? Delicious food is a part of life and we all love certain dishes that are legends like chex mix you have to do it homemade also the store-bought ones suck! Same with rice crispy treats the store-bought ones are shit why can’t these companies make their own recipes taste good? Anyway I think if you want to have things you love here and there then absolutely do it Life is too short to just give up on everything
Omg this is huge for our family! 'Trash' is a tradition in our home, even gifts. Yes I'm a southern keto girl who cannot wait to try this. Thank you.

Have you tried bacon grease vs. butter. My mom always used bacon grease in our chex mix...it was to die for!
I made this today with a couple of variations and I am ECSTATIC!!!!! I know food should not be the judge of happiness; but, isn't it a PLUS when it does? Thanks SOOOOOO much! I can see me staying on track with all of your yummy recipes.

I am going to try this recipe. I start a more stringent low carb this weekend. Low carb works! I started following you this year. Love that you actually cook and talk about the ingredients. Keep up the great informative work!

Love Carolina Country pork rinds! You are making me homesick again. :-)
I didn’t realize you are in NC I am too! Neighbors!👋😁
I will add some WHISPS - cheddar cheese crisps... I get them at Walmart - only 2 carbs in the 2 1/2 oz bag.
that would be awesome to sneak into the theater LOL.
+GettnBooted ha! Great idea!
Yes!!!
RealSalt has a wonderful sseasoning salt, without sugar, or other nasty stuff!
For those who don't want the seasoning salt, just add a bit of paprika and celery salt.
you can use pork rinds to make cinnamon churros. yum
This looks great!! Thank you for sharing!!
+Amber Henderson I hope you like them!
My mom used to always make Trash/Chex Mix every Christmas when I was growing up. I can't wait to try it!!
Thanks to Stewart!

What is a substitute for Pork Rinds? Can you make a Chex Mix with something other than Pork Rinds? That snack mix looks delicious.
Have you made low carb cinnamon roasted almonds?
I’d like to try that, too. 😊
Question ,would it be possible, to make a dip with sour cream and the crushed nuts maybe a little stevia for the pork rinds???
What is the serving size for portions? This is so good! Do you have the macros somewhere or am I missing that? Thank you!
We use pork rinds to make nachos.
yes! that's really good too!
Are these raw or already roasted nuts that you are using?
Great value has a pecan that is only 1 net carb for every 1/4 cup.
check out Redmond's Real Salt Seasoned Salt

My local Walmart sells a few kinds of pork rind products.
What part of Florida are you in? We're in Pasco/ Hillsborough. ~ Jennifer
I’m used to the sweet Chex mix. Do you have a recipe for that?
hey not sure if this was totally ok but I got desperate for eggnog when my hubby'd brought me home one swallow of egg nog he took into a work party...to not hurt his feelings, i thanked him but I rinsed out the bottle but before I tossed it I read all the ingredients and Thought shoot I can make my my own...I got four egg yolks added in heavy cream, some whole milk splenda for sweet...stevia too for emulsifying and bulk...and a ton of nutmeg...took that bottle and shook it shook it...then I noticed the yolks were all still pretty much whole...LOL after I quit laffn I broke them up and shook it again...It was not bad & I only want one tiny lil slurp a day...with it being raw eggs I'm not gonna share it with my eat'n folks...but it's really not bad tasting. what kind of rum is lo carb?? rum is low carb!! it's proof God loves us! just watch the flavored rums.
hello,
do you have any low carb snacks that we can take to the theater?
+ccccarbonell This chex mix is great to sneak into movies! so are pepperoni chips and cheese chips. I have a video on those. You could also do an antipasta mix of olives, meats, and cheeses!
+Cooking Keto with Kristie . thank you
What if I am a vegetarian? What can I substitute for pork rinds?
why keep in fridge?
I didn’t hear how much wortershire sauce. Didn’t anyone catch it?
Smart. Beautiful. Lady
You mentioned a support group...I live in nc as well. Central nc...I'd love to be around supportive individuals. Where is your group?
Sorghum is a decent popcorn substitute. Dr. Eric Berg has a video on this and it’s to be used very rarely but if your husband has a real hankering this can really be a great alternative.
I am also in central nc. Are you still following keto diet?
You said it right 👍🇦🇺💕
May I ask, what is the Serving size and the carbs per servings?
+Betty Bishop Using the exact ingredients that I use, one serving is 1/2 cup and is 3 total carbs.
Man, I can’t figure out the measurements.
ps...oh and being a cheapie and a lazy cook LOL I took the four eggwhites and made 2 big omlettes for my hubby with tons of veggies and his lo fat cheese ( blech ) lol lol lol...Monday is our 30th anniversary and I won't have to cook fresh that morning. GB
low fat cheese? you trying to kill that man?!?! Lol. happy anniversary!
lol no his dr. is LOL
I wish there was a kosher way to make this. I've been looking for a pig free alternative to pork rinds
+Emily B hmm....could you use chicken skins? You would need to fry them yourself I'm afraid, but if you could toss small pieces into very hot oil, that might work.
Yes, gribenes, chicken skin
I would love to make this but I'd seriously eat the entire batch!! Kind of defeating the purpose in the end.
meant recipe!!!lol
this looks very dangerous lol I have no self control with crunchy and salty.

The “traditional” Chex has NEVER had “sweet cereal” in it.👎🏼
Oh man ,I was so excited, but I am Torah observant, and I do not eat pork .
