    I ticked every available option on my 2022 r1250gs Rallye. I've dropped my bike 3 times and the OEM crash bars saved it.They didn't shift, and surprisingly didn't scratch. I love the gold wheels.

      Hi Jim and welcome to the channel and thank you for sharing your experiences. Your lucky to get all the options you wanted. A lot of these are no longer available due to the electric parts shortage supply issues. Glad to hear your enjoying your bike. Best wishes Carl

    I bought mine with the bars… and I dropped it riding in the dirt in my back yard, they worked. Not a scratch, and made it much easier to pick up.

    I've recently configured a new (UK) GS TE, so my next move is back to the configurator - thanks for the clear explanation and tips on the packages and options. Never thought about the multifunction indicator lights on the test ride, but food for thought....

    I own the exact bike (Dec21) you have on load with crash bars and the luggage racks (level 2 protection package from memory, it came with tft protection as well). I have just came back from a five day 3200klm ride with five others all on various GS's and found that the new blinker/stop lights worked well for visibility and road presence front and rear. Each to their own, but after following and leading several different GS with different lighting packages this one is the most visible on the road (bar a 40th anniversary GSA with the fog lights on, we renamed it the road train).

      Hi Todd, hello and welcome. It sounds like you had a great adventure away with the group. I would imagine you were super comfortable during your trip and enjoyed every km. Thankyou for sharing your thoughts on the multifunction rear lights, like you say everyone has to decide for them selves. Best wishes Carl

    Great video again Carl, I have the GS TE Rallye on order and it’s highly informative to get your insights. Like you I’m not a fan of crash bars and have ordered machine art moto head protectors ( as I did for my 1200RS), giving the fall protection I need. Surely of little value for a crash at speed but then that’s where insurance kicks-in. I will be interested to see you review of the multi-function indicators, I have heard mixed opinions which also mirrors the comments so far. Keep up the good videos, really helpful and enjoyable viewing.

      Hi Nigel, thank you for the nice feedback 👍and I can imagine your excitement for the arrival of your new Rallye. I have a good friend that has finally moved from full on sports bikes "S1000RR" to a mint low km 1200RS and he is really enjoying it. Video of the lights at night and the indicators to come soon. As I am semi retired I can choose the bikes / cars I work on and really just take on projects that I am interested in and tomorrow an old Yamaha XT 250 arrives for a 6-Volt to 12-Volt conversion, so that will be released within the next couple of weeks. I know it might not be interesting for everyone but I remember those early days... smile. Best wishes with your new GS, Carl

    I have something called a premium package US that includes comfort , touring , dynamic package which also added dynamic ebc and tpm. Also added chrome exhaust , heated seats , spoked wheels .
    Tripe black another 1k. Is there a place to see what a bike has with its Vin.? I wonder.

      Hi Satz, yes, I believe only a dealer can confirm what specification the bike left the showroom with. Here in Europe most dealers will help with that. I don't think there is an independent source. Your fully kitted GS sounds lovely. Maybe one of our other subscribers knows another way ???Best wishes Carl

    I have now watched a few of your videos and just signed up as a subscriber. Just recently purchased a very similar 2022 GS Rallye in the United States.
    I find it interesting that you don't see a lot of value in the optional BMW spot lights. What about for increased daytime visibility to others?
    I personally find the stock OEM low beam headlights too dim for daytime visibility. The high beams help but don't really want to run my high beams all of the time during the day. Maybe that is the answer if I don't want to add other lights...?
    I appreciate any additional thoughts as I am trying to sort out options for increased daytime visibility.

I had to laugh when I read your comment... As the episode is about the adaptive lights and setting up the spot lights. Which I am actually beginning to like. Best wishes Carl and thank you for subscribing.

    G'day carl ,I've been a motorbike enthusiast 4ever, I've just taken delivery of r1250gs triple black 2022 model, my first 1250 was factory lowered, for me it was a disaster from the start , my missus didn't like it , like riding on a pogo stick, my previous 1200 adventure was normal so much more comfortable 2 up , id since bought a bmw k1600gt sport new , kept for 2 years then spotted the triple black, it's in getting ceramic paint protection, wunderlich cylinder protection looks great , will look into it , regards dingo , Western Australia

      Hi Lance,G,day too, my wife has been adjusting from our Multistrada to the GS and she has really enjoyed it. I think the key difference is the "lack" of weight transfer during braking which for a passenger is a big plus. Ive not riden the K1600GT yet but many people give positive reviews about it . Best Wishes, Carl

    I've had no issues with the multifunction indicators. When I've led rides everyone is surprised how easy they are to see versus other motorcycles. I've no problem with drivers behind me figuring out what I"m doing either. First time I've heard any complaints about them.

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Correy, thankyou, it seems the divison is about equal - 50% have no issues and like it, 50% dont and find problems with them. Its good we all like different things otherwise we would all ride the same motorbike...smile. I do like the improved brake light though. thankyou for leaving your comment, Carl

      @@justthewayitis I do have a top box on all the time that keeps the lights shaded most of the time. I wonder if that might have anything to do with it. I also ride with my Lone Rider Moto-bags installed which could offer more contrast for the lights. Could be an interesting experiment to see if there's a configuration that makes the lights easier/harder to see. Granted they should be easy to see stock, but who leaves their GS(A) stock 😄.

    Hi Carl, great videos by the way...Im new to the channel and like it very much. Re your Wunderlich head protectors... I was in my local dealership of late and after looking closely at a few used Bikes both GS & GSA i noticed on quite a few of them that the cylinder heads were badly marked where the finish looked to have been worn through? Another customer in the shop at the sme time told me that some of these types of cylinder head covers actually rub against the finish and cause this issue.... and before people sell the bikes they remove them to either re sell them or possibly refit to the new bike purchased. So until that time no one is actually aware of this issue that lurks underneath. Just giving you the heads up you may have to check underneath yours after a few miles of use. (not actually sure which type it is that causes this issue)

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  2 роки тому

      Hi Karlos and welcome to the channel, thank you for this advice, I was thinking that at the end of the summer I might remove the wunderlich covers and have a look. But now I have added this check to my (to do list) so I dont forget to check.
      I will report back if anything is marked.
      Good luck with your GS or GSA purchase... they are quite wonderful.

    The online configurator for these bikes isn’t very good: you can’t combine heated grips and the Akrapovic exhaust for example. The people at the dealership can actually configure the bike just the way you want to: their tools are not as restrictive apparently.
