THIS SAVAGE SONG IS SO INCREDIBLE! The concept that violence breeds something bad (monsters) is such a thought provoking idea. Schwab is so unique. She's a queen!
NOW I HAVE AN EVEN LONGER READING LIST
Check out London Belongs to Me. So fun.
And London Belongs to Me is on sale right now for $1.99 US for kindle! I think today is the last day.
I agree. London Belongs to Me is a lovely, light, uplifting read. We need more books like this one especially right now when the world is a bit depressing and cynical. Great wrap-up Regan. Happy New Year.
This Savage Song is one of my favourite books from last year. I cannot wait to see how Our Dark Duet plays out next year.
This Savage Song was kind of the opposite for me, I absolutely loved ADSOM but This Savage Song was cool but ultimately a meh read. But I think it's so cool that she writes such different stories so they appeal to many different readers, it makes her an easy author to recommend :)
A World Hopper same here!
I felt the same way about The School for Good and Evil 2!
My favorite book I've read recently is Clockwork Princess!!! That book tore me apart
My dogs heard your dog rattle his collar while I was watching this video and they completely lost their minds barking at it. Hahahahahah!
My favorite read in December was hands down Vicious by Schwab. It was no surprise to me that I loved it so much
London Belongs to Me + friendship + nerd stuff + Mark Keegan =
I'm the same when it comes to Victoria schwab's books. I've read 4 of her books so far and Vicious is my fave (also one of my general favorites). Her other books I've read are just okay to me. But since I love Vicious so much I'm willing to keep reading her books for the chance that I'll absolutely fall in love with the book to the same degree as Vicious.
London Belongs to Me is on sale right now! $1.99 US for Kindle but the price goes up at midnight. Everyone should read it!
I love the idea of bringing theatre into YA novels, London Belongs to me sounds amazing.
"Can't wait to read more in the future" :D
You will, Regan. You will.
I still have yet to read a Victoria Schwab book... I really need to 😩
I feel the same way about Crystal Storm! I can't wait for the sixth and final book!
sandyreadsalot 😵😵😵 I thought that Crystal Storm was the last book xD (Haven't even read Frozen tides yet).
I do think that the problems with the second book in the series of A World Without Princes will be solved in the third one so I can't wait to read that one. To be honest, I expected things to take a completely different direction with the first book already so when I went into the second one I really had a more clear idea of what is Soman's style. He just doesn't go for the clearly outlined moral lesson in his stories... I totally didn't see the ending of the second book coming and I think that everyone in the series has to get their heads on straight because even with villains aside, none of our characters are fuzzy peaches or cinnamon rolls, to be quite honest.
Oh, and I'm definitely looking forward to reading Sabriel.
I just started reading the falling kingdom series in november of 2016 and i'm like yass now i don't have to wait that long for the other books. but damnn 7 books is a lot and especially for december
I read This Savage Song in December too and I loved it!
Regan, everytime I watch your videos I want to buy more books! Your videos are amazing!
I want to read London belongs to me as I've always wanted to move to London once I graduate from uni! I don't know how you read so many books in one month, you're amazing!
I always love watching your reviews because we have pretty much the exact same taste in books!
Regan I really trust your recommendations, you recommend a book I read it!
Love the end of year videos!
Yes, I loved This Savage Song.
Regan you HAVE to follow up on Sabriel. I completely agree with your views on the first book but its main job is to set the scene for the others. I remember Lyreal being slow to start as well but, my god, was Abhorson incredible!
i have to say i really enjoyed the Glittering Court my Richelle Mead.
Hii! I love your videos and your personality and I think you are stunning!
Have a nice day!😋
I agree
gggggggggggggggggfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff Where am I? Why was my head on the keyboard? I was going to comment something, but something stunned me
For Sabriel, the way you described the world makes it the exact same world as the one in Niel Gaiman's StarDust.... that too is old England and a fantasy world separated by a wall...
Alexandra Bowden for Sabriel, imagine that the people on each side of the wall know about each other, but the further from the wall, the less the new kingdom people really believe in the 'magic' from the old Kingdom. They just think 'borderers' are really superstitious.
I've been really looking forward to Our Savage Song! I'm hoping to read it closer to the released date of Our Dark Duet (June 2017) because I absolutely hate waiting for sequels. Congrats on 7 books in December and Happy New Year! :)
I finally cut down my TBR list from 200+ to 41 only
LMAO I FEEL YOU
I still need to read book 3 in The school for good and evil trilogy! I am like the opposite of you, I love Agatha haha 😂
Hahah and I like Sophie most of all at the moment! Tedros is a bit slow and late to every party.... :D
Lesia's Tale I know right!
Irish Reader I hated the book
I read the first and the second when I was younger and I doubt I'll enjoy them as much as I did then... I loved Sophie's creepy side though :)
Irish Reader I just found the book to for, well, children. Around grade four or five. And don't get me wrong, I read this is middle school and thought it was too childish.
Regan, you should do a Q&A soon!
Just read The Catcher in the Rye for the first time :)
London Belongs to me looks so good! Cant wait to read it. Also, everything in this video i want to read now, good job Regan!
It's on sale right now for $1.99 US for Kindle!
What interesting books. I liked the sound of London Belongs to Me and Mother Nile. Happy New Year, hope it is a good one for you.
Jesus I never thought I would like book wrapping so much lol
I read the boy in the striped pajamas for the fist time in December after my surgery in the hospital and I was SO CLOSE TO crying right in my hospital room and that says a lot b/c I don't like crying in public
one book series i've been getting really into is Temeraire by Naomi Novik, it's a historical fantasy that basically takes the Napoleonic wars and throws dragons into the mix. it's really fun, the characters are great, i think you'd really like it.
On final book of His Dark Materials. The Amber Spyglass. I'm kinda slow when it comes to reading books but really enjoying this series and loving this channel. Thanks for the recommendations.
You read a lot of book this mouth I love it!💙
The School for Good and Evil The Last Ever After was my favorite book of 2016!!! Read it, it is so amazing.
JeremyPlays Roblox So excited 😆😆😆 A chance for us to see HOPHIE (I hope so)!!!
I love your videos so much!!!
The Queen of Blood by Sarah Beth Durst was my favorite book I read in the month of December, and I absolutely recommend it! I think you'd really like it Regan, since you love Fantasy!
The Old Kingdom Series (which Sabriel is from) is my all time favourite series! :D You're right about it being set at the turn of the century. I say set, It's likened to WW1 Britain in a way, but not specifically set then... I believe :')
I'm so glad you read Sabriel. The next two books Lirael and Abhorsen is such a great two book story. If you do audiobooks, the next two are narrated by Tim Curry. He adds another layer to the books that it makes it even better :)
So you finally read This Savage Song! One of my favourites of 2016
Truly interesting picks. the savage song and the school of good and evil go on my TBR. :D
I am reading the courtlight series be terah edun. it is really fun and I love the main character!!
Have you read any of the Dresden files? And what do you think?
I know you read codex alera so I thought maybe you at least tried to start it? I have to admit I read it for my husband, but after 5 or 6 books I really started to like it. Also the more I hear your reviews the more excited I get, because so many of the books you love I love!
i couldnt be happier that I subscribed to this chanel.
Since I know you love fantasy, I reccomend Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay. It's a very underrated YA retelling of Beauty and the Beast and I think it's spectacular. It was my 2nd favorite book of 2016, and the protagonist, Isra, is blind.
Hey Regan, I was just wondering if you've ever read (or even heard of) Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist? It's a really dark book but I absolutely loved it!
When will you be announcing the January book club book?
You are amazing
Does anyone know the book of the month for January? Do they still do the book club
Lmao I only read Magnus Chase and the sword of summer this month. I can't blame life for getting in the way all the time, I need to pull myself together and read more.
I am so sad because I've listened to The Falling Kingdoms series on Audible (and I absolutely love them) but Crystal Storm hasn't been released there yet and I'm just sitting here literally checking Audible every single day waiting for that damned book
What about Nevernight??
HeyRegan, i am currently reading 'Ink and Bone' by Rachel Caine an since we have the same taste for books, i really think you should check it out! It is a really unique story! Have a good one!
i don't know if you notice, but you end every video with "I'll see you soon with another video soon." and that's like... one too many soons.
Excuse me Sabriel is amazing 😂
I felt much the same about Sabriel and Lirael. I love the concept and the characters, but...the writing just makes it hard to get into the story, and some parts are a bit draggier than others.
Unicorn Hunter Books I also have to agree, I read golden hand a few days ago and though I loved catching up with Sabriel and Lirael, it took a while for the story to get moving, however I feel it's worth the wait as Garth Nix always delivers in the end
I have a question that's bothered me for a long time. How is your books just floating there? I know it's a shelf but I just don't get it.
OMGitsSydneeNicole they're called floating bookshelves! Look them up and it'll be easier to understand, but basically you put a hardcover on the bottom and the dust jacket flap covers the metal shelf part!! Idk if that makes sense haha
booksbybrie oh okay! Thanks so much I understand now haha
9:14 "I've never actually read a book"
AHAA! Caught you, charlatan! SHE CANT READ, GUYS! ( ͡⊙ ͜ʖ ͡⊙)
Regan, I understand that sponsorships are necessary in order to maintain a Booktube channel but you've mentioned London Belongs to Me in 3 or more videos over the past few weeks. I want you to make money doing the things you love and even don't mind seeing sponsorships in your videos, but seeing the same sponsor repeatedly (as someone who watches almost every one of your videos) is a bit annoying. I don't know if there would be a way for you to do this type of sponsorship differently in the future, it just personally bothers me.
I think it's great booktubers can make some money doing what they love. I'd rather see a book like this one which came from a small publisher than some of the big 5 publisher books that get sent to every single booktuber on the planet. Let's support the little publishers and the booktubers who take a risk and feature them on their channels.
Like I said, I really don't mind Booktubers taking sponsorships but I feel like I've heard Regan talk about this book repeatedly across multiple videos which honestly dissuades me from reading the book more than it does persuade me. I suppose it's good marketing considering people don't usually watch every video a creator makes, but for those of us who do watch everything it's like seeing the same commercial over and over again... it's annoying, and seems like there should be a better way to market than just mentioning it repeatedly. This is just my opinion.
Christine Bileau regan spent a lot of time, efforts, thoughts, and maybe even money to produce these contents so we can enjoy free videos. I think you can handle some minor annoyances.
At least it's relevant? Not being rude no way offending anyone but at least when she mentioned the book, it's related to the video that she's doing.
This is nothing but constructive criticism, guys... I'm not saying that I'm unsubscribing unless she stops doing it, I'm saying that it is personally annoying to me and that maybe in the future she could try to find a better way to do her sponsorships. Make her channel better? Especially for people who are watching a lot of her videos? It's just something that I noticed, that annoyed me, and that I wanted to comment on.
