Two tips on console for alternates to moon lantern and jumping down to nightsong: for the moon lantern, as someone else said, you can “move” the moon lantern via the actions menu and they won’t aggro because you didn’t pick it up, just stay in move mode until they leave. You can then safely pick it up. Second tip, jumping down to nightsong area doesn’t work well on console, BUT you only need 1 umbral gem (not all of them) to use the platform that carries you down there and you’re already set up perfectly for jumping across the faith leap puzzle quickly to avoid trying to jump down (or the soft step puzzle is another safer option as you can’t die in that puzzle). Then once you get your gem, jump to the platform and insert the gem nearby, then it takes you down and you can use “knock” spell to open the room leading to nightsong without the other umbrel gems.

If like me you missed the part of getting Shadowheart to the waypoint at the Verge of the Shadows, there is a workaround. Pick up the dark templar armor and sent it to Lae'zel. With Lae'zel at the inn, buy a potion of featherfall and pick up a bunch of crates and send them to Shadowheart. Stack them up to the right of the pillar in the wall to give her enough jumping distance. Climb the crates, drink the potion, and do the jump, and you'll reach the waypoint without the wizard spells.

Thank you for this tutorial. Everything is working. For my tips, you can try and put Kar'niss weapon in basket along side moon lantern (just make sure you put in lantern first, then sword), it can be handy later. Second thing: if during fight you dont have Shadow Heart near, it doesn't mean your run is over. Go on as normaly. I had problem, where after tavern cutscene my Shadow Heart got engaged in combat with Balthazar, becouse of it Jahera didn't spawned. Go on and try to recruit her in camp. Your run is still salvagable.

Now, with the illithid colony wall glitch i can have it! (The oathbreaker helmet), since I play in console it was impossible due to no mods. Now I can look amazing thx to this! Thank you bro, you're truly not only an speedrun savior but a fashion savior itself!
Try putting it more on the right side and stay on the “path” in the ground that he shows. Keep moving the barrel on that side if you are having trouble, it should eventually clip into the door far enough. It took me MANY attempts, so don’t give up!
Hi everyone, greetings from Mexico. Just to confirm that I play from a PS5 and although at first I had a hard time, I was able to perfect a little more the oubliette jump. It takes a little time to get used to it but I recommend you to “detect” the movement of the cat-brain with the cursor and just jump as soon as it gets closer. On the other hand, I still can't finish the act because in the cut scene with Shadowheart and Night Song I automatically end the quest even when I switch to Tav right in the correct scene. Anyway, I hope to be able to give more data later but if anyone had the same problem, I would appreciate your advice.
I cant do it fast enought to overlap the cutscenes, my loadscreen swapping between characters takes too long, is there a way to do this if both caracters enter the scene with Baltazar?
I had the same problem. Start the cutscen with Shadowheart and quickly switch to your Tav and travel to Road of Baldurs Gate. While the area is loading the pop up will come. Just wait till the area is loaded and click yes. After that the cutscene will start and you can switch to your Tav again and quickly jump to the road of Baldurs Gate cutscene. It needed a couple of tries. But there is a problem after this: you can't do the jump he does at 50:15 on console. There is no way to put your cursor in that area he is aiming at. I have no clue what to do now :(
@@xventic4780 How do you manage to put the cursor in that specific field? There is an "invisible wall" and I can't put the cursor even close to that field.
Thanks for these guides, I already got my Golden Dice following your the last ones you did for the earlier patch, but one thing I have always been curious about is why there is no Gith ambush on that bridge by the waypoint, unlike what happens in my normal playthroughs of the game.
I believe the Gith ambush happens from doing more of Lae'zel's questline, such as doing quests at the Githyanki creche or with Voss I believe, which we don't do in the speedrun.
I think something happened on PC for making Kar'niss drop the lantern. You don't seem to get more than one shot at it now, it's always an instant fight if you fail which ruins your run because Shadowheart will die. What's odd is making him drop the lantern and succeeding does not put you in combat (until you pick up the lantern)
Yes, several changes were made in patch 7 - now it's just a 55% chance the run ends when claiming the moonlantern. Not great. We're just going to have to wait for a patch 7 guide.
@@ronarscorruption Luckily, it's quite short into the run and there isn't anything really difficult to that point other than remembering to degroup and not getting too sweaty about your fog placement by the undead group. I managed to follow this guide to completion in patch 7. Only the moonlantern drop and the Nightsong murder were the tricky parts, everything else played exactly as the patch 6 vid.
on the controller if you want to be able to "point and click movement" like in turn based mode just hit down on the left stick and you will have enough movement
Cutscene overlap does not work for me, unfortunately. It just sends both characters to the nightsong and I don't have any time to even make it to the prison dialogue after tp...
You need to wait until Tav appears in the other map before confirming the dialogue. Then rush to start the other cutscene before Shadowheart gets to the end of hers. I was having the same issue but doing it that way solves it
12:00 Unless hotfix 23 broke this; you can also move, and throw, the Moon Lantern without aggro, i.e. onto the overlook back towards the rest of the party. Karniss tries to find it, but leaves when it's out of his sightline.
I may have missed you saying, but is the spot you are casting from simply out of aggro triggering range? Like, was there something special about how you were able to continually attack him that you did, or are you just too far for Ketheric to initiate combat? If I showed up, snuck to that spot with a level 8+ archer build character, could I just do the same thing with ranged arrow attacks till it's over without the fight actually triggering?

I'm playing on PS5 and for some reason the oubliette jump through the wall just won't work. I always hit the barrier 😢... I do hear my character say "every bit as disgusting as the first time" though... I have tried crouching and standing, jumping into and outside of the brain cats sight, from the place in the video and from the next area just beyond the flammable barrier. Nothing works... Update: Found out that you need to click where the the braincat would be when you land. Update 2: For people who get shart teleporting to the colony after the braincat jump, start the nightsong cutscene in shadowfell before you jump through. You will probably lose the shar gear shart gets but that doesnt matter for the speedrun anyway. Update 3 (08.04.2024): I officially got through to Act 3 now. Playing on PS5 with update version 01.006.800.
@@neblem8119 1. Have just shart in your party and ungrouped. 2. Have both of you standing on the stairs down to the entrance. 3. Activate the entrance with shart and then quickly switch to your character and fast travel to the road travel point and then run to the bridge till you hit the cutscene. 4. Wait on the choice screen for the screen to fade to black and then reappear. 5. Switch to shart and do nothing but get down to the edge of the arena with balthazar and then sneak wait there. 6. Switch back to your character and choose to proceed which will teleport you to jail. 7. Jump in the hole to the oubliette. 8. Switch to shart and activate the cutscene and click through to the kill (if you want the justiciar gear ti sell later you can click through the rest of the cutscene too it just takes more time). 9. Switch to your pc and do the oubliette jump. Shart will teleport to the oubliette when you make it which is why u need to kill nightsong first. 10. Donezo, have fun spamming Ketheric 😂

I was wondering about how you split in this game, I usually use livesplit and I assume that's what people use mostly for this game too. But I also understand that timing in this game uses time without loads, so you would need an autosplitter, and the function on livesplit does not work for bg3, on the latest version (hotfix 23 or 24). Is there any way around using this autosplitter? How do you personally split?
Just absolutely fucked my run by failing to pickpocket Balthazar quick enough. Quit the game and reloaded and itnhad shadowheart in the mindflayer colony with my tav instead of the shadowfell. Will have to start this entire speedrun over now
I’m so annoyed, I got to the boss and went to switch to shadowheart and she spawned in the colony even though last time I checked she was where this guide left her before moving her. (I’m on ps5) not sure if it’s just me that’s had that happen. At least I’ve almost got back to where I was in less than 20mins because the route is really easy. But still, it’s so annoying. It might be because of the level ups? I’m going to level her up before I separate them and see if it works
Im playing on PS5 Patch 6 Hotfix 24. Shadowheart did not stay down in the Nightsong Realm once my Tav reached the Mindflayer Colony. When I switched over to her, she was teleported to the Mindflayer Colony enterance. This happen to anyone else?
Im also on ps5 latest update. Start the nightsong kill cutscene before you do the oubliette jump. Worked for me and now im act 3. You lose the shar gear for sharty (might be possible to avoid this by waiting for the cutscene to end before jumping but idk if that would mess anything else up) but that doesn't matter anyway.

@@Dominikkpl No she didnt for me either but you don't need her. Just don't get rid of Laezel by intimidating her to stay and have her do the throwing in the gith fight later. I managed to get to the gith fight in like 1 hr 10 min recently.
@@leonardodevita1950 Only problem is, the giths are too heavy to be thrown by laezel at lvl4 with only 19 str. If you follow the run correctly, then this doesn't work. If you are running around doing errands only for the honor trophy/achievement and managed to reach the str cap needed before the encounter then this information valid, but only if.
I followed everything exactly, but i get to the ketheric fight and hes just not there. i even got close enough to start the dialogue with him and then afterwards combat still doesnt start and hes still not there.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by him being not there, so if you have a video that would really help, otherwise it's most likely something regarding the Nightsong cutscene that might be breaking it.
As far as I know nothing has been patched yet. When Patch 7 comes out things might change but I don't think anything should break from it. Everything should still work properly on console.
Everything worked fine, have Nightsong dead and Shadowheart stuck in the dialogue, mission was completed but as soon as I hit the first witchbolt on Ketheric it prompts the dialogue and starts the fight. Any ideas? Update: Worked fine when I ran the Nightsong cutscene before doing the Oubliette skip. Had to finish the full cutscene before being able to join Ketheric fight though

@@Dominikkpl I did have her appear in both spots he mentions over different runs. The only thing I do other than what he does is talk to Jaheera when I go to Last Light to pick up the potion. Not sure it makes a difference, however she shows up normally after the Ketheric fight

So I am in the lower city but bc I'm not durge I can't waltz into the bhaal inner sanctum to throw orin off the ledge... Is there a way to speed run getting the amulet or another glitch less way in?
I figured it out. After beating Ketheric: 1) follow the intermission setup from this guy's other full speed run guide, i.e. Eldritch knight Jaheira empowered by enlarge, throw monks into the astral plane 2) leap to 2nd floor of the bunkhouse, find murder list, interrogate the mum's body to figure out Dolor is the killer 3) head to lower city, invisibly pickpocket the poem and the bag o' hands, escape detection and head back to basilisk gate 4) head to tombstone shop, infiltrate murder tribunal, lie about being an edge lord, kill an innocent Hollyphant for the great good and to maintain your double agency. Severok bequethes you the amulet of bhaal. 5) head to sewers per the same video I referenced before; sneak past ambush, leap to bhaal temple door, open it. 6) throw orin to her doom, follow her temporarily until Withers can ctrl+z 7) ally with pretty boy 8) head to nether brain, leap invisibly to brainstem, and have gale take one for the team bc I recruited him so I wouldn't have to stress about the final fight lol...
If anyone else is strugligng with the oublitte skip/braincap jump (on console) like me and @leonardodevita1950 then I hope this comment might help you. I got it in a few tries hope this helps someone else whos stuck :)
@@Dominikkpl He explains it in the next tutorial for the Gith fight but if Jaheira isn't at moonrise keep going to Act 3 and in camp before the gith fight Jaheira should be there. If she isn't then you messed up the cutscene glitch thing and will need to start over.
So I’m doing this run and I’m at the Ketheric fight. I throw my smoke powder bombs it just doesn’t do enough damage to kill him. I’ve reloaded and ran it back a couple times, I just can’t seem to kill kethric with the smoke powder bombs like you do. Any advise or help please?
You need to make sure you are throwing a full stack of bombs of 8 and 10 respectively at once with both advantage from high ground, and with the Callous Glow Ring equipped at the ground next to Ketheric / Myrkul.
Thanks so much for the video! Makes it so much easier on console! But on ps5 shadowheart can’t jump down to Balthazar in the night song prison without taking fall damage and dying. Is this a console thing?
Worked like a charm first time for me, though looked slightly different than in the video. When you switch to tav and fast travel, the pop-up appears during the loading screen. I just pressed accept, and first tav loaded into baldurs gate road, then it switched view to shart descending. Switch back to tav and run into the gate. The screen turns black for a second, then you're back with tav's selection. Switch to shart, and you're golden.

Getting the moon lantern works for me if you just open the wicker basket and wait around for 10 seconds, they all disperse, besides the hyena

Yep, this should also work! It's a lot faster than dying with Shadowheart as well, just need to make sure it is far enough away.
I was going to add this! Throw it onto the wooden deck platform thing the cages are on. He can't get to there and leaves.

If you give the Nightsong to Balthazaar you will not get Jaheira for Act 3, making it incredibly difficult for the late game, so I would not do that.

Just absolutely fucked my run by failing to pickpocket Balthazar quick enough. Quit the game and reloaded and itnhad shadowheart in the mindflayer colony with my tav instead of the shadowfell. Will have to start this entire speedrun over now
Happend to me too. He was careful before and told is now he just speeds through….. god dammit
Did you make sure to ungroup your characters beforhand?
I thought i followed every steps but somehow Shadowheart teleported to Tav when he jumped from the prison 😢
I’m so annoyed, I got to the boss and went to switch to shadowheart and she spawned in the colony even though last time I checked she was where this guide left her before moving her. (I’m on ps5) not sure if it’s just me that’s had that happen. At least I’ve almost got back to where I was in less than 20mins because the route is really easy. But still, it’s so annoying. It might be because of the level ups? I’m going to level her up before I separate them and see if it works
Im playing on PS5 Patch 6 Hotfix 24. Shadowheart did not stay down in the Nightsong Realm once my Tav reached the Mindflayer Colony. When I switched over to her, she was teleported to the Mindflayer Colony enterance. This happen to anyone else?

Im also on ps5 latest update. Start the nightsong kill cutscene before you do the oubliette jump. Worked for me and now im act 3. You lose the shar gear for sharty (might be possible to avoid this by waiting for the cutscene to end before jumping but idk if that would mess anything else up) but that doesn't matter anyway.
@@leonardodevita1950 Did Jaheira spawn for you afterwards? I'm also on PS5 and your trick is the only way for me to make Shadowheart stay but later on Jaheira is nowhere to be found killing the run...
@@Dominikkpl No she didnt for me either but you don't need her. Just don't get rid of Laezel by intimidating her to stay and have her do the throwing in the gith fight later. I managed to get to the gith fight in like 1 hr 10 min recently.
@@leonardodevita1950 Only problem is, the giths are too heavy to be thrown by laezel at lvl4 with only 19 str. If you follow the run correctly, then this doesn't work. If you are running around doing errands only for the honor trophy/achievement and managed to reach the str cap needed before the encounter then this information valid, but only if.
I followed everything exactly, but i get to the ketheric fight and hes just not there. i even got close enough to start the dialogue with him and then afterwards combat still doesnt start and hes still not there.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by him being not there, so if you have a video that would really help, otherwise it's most likely something regarding the Nightsong cutscene that might be breaking it.
Have any of the wall clipping in the Temple of Shar been patched on console? April 13th 2024.
As far as I know nothing has been patched yet. When Patch 7 comes out things might change but I don't think anything should break from it. Everything should still work properly on console.

Everything worked fine, have Nightsong dead and Shadowheart stuck in the dialogue, mission was completed but as soon as I hit the first witchbolt on Ketheric it prompts the dialogue and starts the fight. Any ideas?
Update: Worked fine when I ran the Nightsong cutscene before doing the Oubliette skip. Had to finish the full cutscene before being able to join Ketheric fight though

@@Dominikkpl I did have her appear in both spots he mentions over different runs. The only thing I do other than what he does is talk to Jaheera when I go to Last Light to pick up the potion. Not sure it makes a difference, however she shows up normally after the Ketheric fight

@@Dominikkpl that should work. Just make sure to stop moving forward with the dialogue once SH appears on screen with the blood splatted face
@@adhproductions IT WORKED. After talking to her she was still not there in Moonrise Towers but she showed up in the camp location mentioned in the video. Thank you so much, you saved my whole run :) Just waiting for part 4 now :)
There seems to be a bug or a fix to this. When I get to the prison, Shadowheart suddenly appears and leaves the party for some reason.
I got the same issue, it turned out I didn't split my characters :D
For some reason the featherfall effect in the nightsomg prison is glitched for me and i cannot move forward without dying...
Found a way to work around it. (If i throw a potion of healing at where i end up jumping, i heal myself back up to consciousness)
So I am in the lower city but bc I'm not durge I can't waltz into the bhaal inner sanctum to throw orin off the ledge... Is there a way to speed run getting the amulet or another glitch less way in?
I figured it out. After beating Ketheric:
1) follow the intermission setup from this guy's other full speed run guide, i.e. Eldritch knight Jaheira empowered by enlarge, throw monks into the astral plane
2) leap to 2nd floor of the bunkhouse, find murder list, interrogate the mum's body to figure out Dolor is the killer
3) head to lower city, invisibly pickpocket the poem and the bag o' hands, escape detection and head back to basilisk gate
4) head to tombstone shop, infiltrate murder tribunal, lie about being an edge lord, kill an innocent Hollyphant for the great good and to maintain your double agency. Severok bequethes you the amulet of bhaal.
5) head to sewers per the same video I referenced before; sneak past ambush, leap to bhaal temple door, open it.
6) throw orin to her doom, follow her temporarily until Withers can ctrl+z
7) ally with pretty boy
8) head to nether brain, leap invisibly to brainstem, and have gale take one for the team bc I recruited him so I wouldn't have to stress about the final fight lol...
If anyone else is strugligng with the oublitte skip/braincap jump (on console) like me and @leonardodevita1950 then I hope this comment might help you. I've found this video that exlains the mechanics of the jump ua-cam.com/video/yk2dCTDZsfM/v-deo.htmlsi=MXvYzyQLOdCDwI9d (basicly you want to jump where the braincap is going to be and basicly teleport into it) knowing that and findning this other video ua-cam.com/video/Tn5WS9o4Low/v-deo.html that shows that you cant glitch throug a wall past the membrain and get aa mutch better view to time the jump. I got it in a few tries hope this helps someone else whos stuck :)

Did you manage to figure it out? Jaheira doesn't spawn for me too.
@@Dominikkpl He explains it in the next tutorial for the Gith fight but if Jaheira isn't at moonrise keep going to Act 3 and in camp before the gith fight Jaheira should be there. If she isn't then you messed up the cutscene glitch thing and will need to start over.

So I’m doing this run and I’m at the Ketheric fight. I throw my smoke powder bombs it just doesn’t do enough damage to kill him. I’ve reloaded and ran it back a couple times, I just can’t seem to kill kethric with the smoke powder bombs like you do. Any advise or help please?
You need to make sure you are throwing a full stack of bombs of 8 and 10 respectively at once with both advantage from high ground, and with the Callous Glow Ring equipped at the ground next to Ketheric / Myrkul.

Thanks so much for the video! Makes it so much easier on console! But on ps5 shadowheart can’t jump down to Balthazar in the night song prison without taking fall damage and dying. Is this a console thing?
That might be a bug in your game, as I just pulled it off fine

Completely unable to execute any of the wall glitch jumps. In the nautiloid and now again at the start of the shar temple section of console. On xbox

on console (ps5) this works, but is super finicky
Worked like a charm first time for me, though looked slightly different than in the video.
When you switch to tav and fast travel, the pop-up appears during the loading screen.
I just pressed accept, and first tav loaded into baldurs gate road, then it switched view to shart descending. Switch back to tav and run into the gate. The screen turns black for a second, then you're back with tav's selection. Switch to shart, and you're golden.
