Really, "and I said no, like a liar" tagged with Iago could've been a summary of the whole show lmao This is amazing I adore it and now I want to figure out how to relate John to all of the shakes
Arunima Tiwari I know it's common for characters but not like this with the whole plot. Honestly I think I was just kinda weirded out by the fact that it was Othello specifically, since I'm currently studying it and genuinely love it and John Mulaney
Statement: Those were all statements, but you ended them all as if they were sentences. Question: Why did you end all those statements as if they were questions?
A lot of people are discovering John Mulaney right now. It’s a combination of Spiderverse and all his specials on Netflix I think. This is brilliant BTW. It shows just how timeless Shakespeare, John Mulaney, and the human tragedy really is.
The youtube algorithm has selected you for random plugging and I watched it just to make it stop showing up even though I've never actually seen or read Othello! :'D
I really wish I found this when I was studying othello in a level English lit but it's still so good. I am deceased. (much like everyone by the end of the play)
Can you please make more videos like this? I have a Shakespeare class this semester, and this prepared me more for Othello than any person ever could have. 😂
This is so incredible! I know it must have taken ages to find all those clips but oh my God is it worth it. Please do another Shakespeare show! Twelfth Night would be amazing
Thank you, true virgo. I did not think my favorite tall child's comedy could make me want to re-read Othello, but it does not. Also thank you, UA-cam Algorithm. You done good
Wait guys. I was literally reading this is school today with my class, and I found this in my UA-cam recommendation? I’m feel like my existence is being threatened.
just found out that this video features in an uproxx article?? uproxx.com/viral/john-mulaney-quotes-as-bands-movies-plays-meme/ how do i put this on my resume
i want you all to know that when i made this the only video editing software i had was imovie on my glitchy phone that wouldn’t save the audio when screen recording so after screen recording each section i had to then go back, replay each bit on my laptop, and re-record the audio as individual voice memos on my phone. and THEN go into the nightmare of a mobile app that is imovie and sync it all together. and then tens of thousands of people watched the end result. what the fuck.
I respectfully request all my Shakespeare in John Mulaney form for the rest of my natural life.
Titus Andronicus
I've never even seen othello and I think I got the entire story 10/10
Read?
It is a play, the original intention was for it to be seen
Petra Koelewijn But I would assume most people read it rather than saw the play.
I’ve read it and you basically got it
I've read it and saw the wierd movie remake with Orpheus in it. It's essentially the story 🤣
Really, "and I said no, like a liar" tagged with Iago could've been a summary of the whole show lmao
This is amazing I adore it and now I want to figure out how to relate John to all of the shakes
Please do Hamlet so I can force my AP English class to watch this
Also please do Macbeth
I have the same reasoning
Ooo, get freaky too. How about some Vonnegut? That's AP material.
DO ITTTTT
done and done: ua-cam.com/video/JJepVM5mMFQ/v-deo.html
I don’t know Othello, but this is a great way to be introduced
I anticipated the "how could you kill someone? And then I got cheated on" line for so long and the payoff was so good
I don't know how you even thought of this but it may be my new favourite thing
Really? It has been a pretty popular meme (summarising plots using mulaney's stand up) on tumblr for a while now. So glad to see it on youtube.
Arunima Tiwari I know it's common for characters but not like this with the whole plot.
Honestly I think I was just kinda weirded out by the fact that it was Othello specifically, since I'm currently studying it and genuinely love it and John Mulaney
This. Is. BRILLIANT. I dont understand UA-cam’s recommendation algorithm but bless it cause MAN this is brilliant.
I need more of these? I want a Midsummer Night's Dream? This is so good?
Statement: Those were all statements, but you ended them all as if they were sentences.
Question: Why did you end all those statements as if they were questions?
@@coena9377 Where they actually statements though;
@@FirstnameLastname-kn5sw They were statements with question marks at the end.
boys
@@julesshively Yes?
'thats the end of that story, but how fucked up is that, right? that's crazy!'
basically how every shakespeare play ends lmaoooo
As someone who took an entire semester on Shakespeare and studied Othello HEAVILY, this is the most accurate thing I have ever seen 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
it gets freaky accurate as it goes
as soon as "iago" started saying "in fact," i immediately knew it was the delta airlines bit and i died laughing
i think 2:30-2:44 summarizes the whole play honestly
I though this exact same thing
Honestly you could have only used the bit starting at 2:34 tagged othello and been done with it, that part alone is too perfect
I came in with little to no expectations.
Like, how can you tell Othello through John Mulaney?
And now I can say, I am blown away, this is amazing.
HOW DOES THIS HAVE SO MANY VIEWS WHERE ARE YOU PEOPLE COMING FROM
Shakes fans; we're EVERYwhere!!!
You underestimate how many white people are obsessed with John Mulaney
A lot of people are discovering John Mulaney right now. It’s a combination of Spiderverse and all his specials on Netflix I think.
This is brilliant BTW. It shows just how timeless Shakespeare, John Mulaney, and the human tragedy really is.
true virgo this was on my recommendation page for some reason lol
The youtube algorithm has selected you for random plugging and I watched it just to make it stop showing up even though I've never actually seen or read Othello! :'D
this is the best crossover of the century
I really wish I found this when I was studying othello in a level English lit but it's still so good. I am deceased. (much like everyone by the end of the play)
The Iago ones were so good. Also just everything about Act 5. Bianca and Emilia. Yes. Desdemona too. So perfect.
The beginning of act 2 broke me
I genuinely cried
That othello section of ap lit has finally come in handy
This is the best thing ever, I really hope John Mulaney has seen this.
that's terrifying tbh i'd have to change my name and move to alaska
true virgo I'm sure that the tall child himself would approve
2:40 is so goddamn perfect I'm in awe
When it started, I barely remembered Othello. What a beautiful recap. 10/10
Make one for all of Shakespeare works because my English class needs to watch John mulaney and this would be the only excuse I’d have to play it
Omg yes
hamlet's up! ua-cam.com/video/JJepVM5mMFQ/v-deo.html
@@truevirgo Are you planning on doing other plays as well? The Hamlet and Othello ones are both amazing!
This is chaotic chaotic and i love it
The accuracy of this is actually terrifying I love it 😂😂😂
This was brilliant. My deepest respect to the person who took the time to put this together.
Can you please make more videos like this? I have a Shakespeare class this semester, and this prepared me more for Othello than any person ever could have. 😂
If you ever need help with anything I've taken 3 years of Shakespeare!
Now we don't have time to unpack ALL of that...
This and the hamlet one are almost as beautiful and amazing as the original plays. Please do the entire canon!
I’m obsessed with the Pride & Prejudice one…how do these seemingly niche lines have so many perfect applications?!
As a fellow virgo and former student of othello in English Lit, I approve of this immensely
dude, this was way too perfect. You know his comedy so well and Shakespeare... it is mindblowing.
Never seen/ read Othello. Seems great
I love that this is the angle you're approaching this. I wish I knew Othello better so I could appreciate this more.
THIS IS THE BEST THING TO HAVE EVER EXISTED THANK YOU

The Hamlet one was amazing!!
As someone whose had to read Othello at least 5 times during college, this is 10/10
THIS IS SO FRIKEN GOOD I LOVE IT PLS MAKE MORE
Okay, I don’t know how you thought of this, but I am living for it. Please, please make more!
Two of my favorite things John Mulaney and Shakespeare! Great job I'm glad youtube suggested it :)
THE ENDING
You my friend are a genius. This is just brilliant.
I read an interview where he mentioned these videos and it made me proud.
why do i get the feeling that the first ten seconds of this video are the reason you made it
it's wonderful i love it
I love these because it makes sense to anyone who has read the plays, but would be undecipherable to anyone who hasn't.
You are my new favorite person....this was incredible!
Please make more of these. I didn't know I needed this in my life 😍
hamlet's up! ua-cam.com/video/JJepVM5mMFQ/v-deo.html

The Bianca bit was very in character and underrated. Loved the whole thing though!
We’ve just started Othello in my English Class so this was very helpful thank you

You need to make more of this, make it a series even: John Mulaney Summarizes Shakespeare
Omg this is brilliant. More of this please!
This is absolutely spot on and I lost it. Thank you.
This is perfect
The ending was so perfect
Please the world need more of these!!!!!!!
These are amazing!! I hope you are able to do more.
Everyone in Cyprus 😂😂😂
I was just waiting for Emilia lmao
As someone who studied Othello in 12th grade English, this was amazing and spot on.
i wish i had seen this in time to force my alevel eng lit class to watch it. thank u for making this i laughed so much
i'm doing this for a levels atm and this is beautiful wOw
this is like a modern work of art
This is great! It looks like something an IB student would do as a form of procrastination
This is the best thing I’ve ever seen I haven’t even seen or read the original this is my canon now
this is so well done o my god. thank u for this gift
Desdemona is the most relatable character in this version 😂
This is absolutely the best telling of Othello ever
God this is art
I would love to see this concept of combining stand up bits that somehow tell other stories be explored more.
THIS IS AMAZING. THANK YOU.
Desdemona? More like dead-demona
don't do her like this omg
This is my favorite video of all time
Very well done! Thank you for making and sharing this!
this inspires me to read othello, thank you
the desdemona talking about othello part is *chefs kiss*
My favorite Shakespeare play PLUS John Mulaney? Sign me up, please.
