Years ago my father in law passed away but before he did he taught me how to mow my yard. Watching your videos reminds me of the memories we shared together and it’s almost as if he’s still here when I hear you talk about “what to do”. Many thanks!
Every 4th of July I put down Milorganite, fungus control, and insect control. Then I spot spray with celsius for weeds followed by pre emergent in the fall. Zoysia lawn coastal NJ.
Love the videos!! My neighbour JAMES mentioned your videos and you have helped both of us with of our yards! Thanks for doing what you do!!! Your the man
We were away for 10 days and in that time, my lawn went from lush and green, to decimated by fungus and drought. No rain in the past 2 weeks, with none expected in the next two weeks. We're in stage 3 watering restrictions, so no watering at all. Temps have been in the high 90s to 107 degrees!. What a mess!
I've got 2 bags of Dirt Booster in the garage and one bag of PGF Complete ordered Doc. I'm taking your advice and havingvwhat I need on hand for the rest of the season. Central AL is in 100°+ heat right now but once it "cools" down to the high 80's to low 90's the products go on the lawn. My Bermuda grass is looking great this year b4 "hell heat" arrived. Rained twice yesterday so maybe that will help the grass recover. Fingers crossed. Give all the extra vegetables to your local food pantry. That's what my father-in-law did when he grew too many tomatoes and had a surplus. The food pantry loved getting fresh home grown vegetables to have available for their customers to select.
It’s been a hundred for twenty days and hasn’t rained in a month. All the work that I did on your advice, products, and timing is burning up even with an irrigation system. Plus they dug big holes in the yard for fiber optics. What is the best thing that I can do, today?
I have treated for fungus and bugs twice now and not sure what this would still be considered as a problem, any help? Essentially looks like dollar spots and hasn't changed since start of growing season, front and back yard and I have the small cob webs in the dew of the morning
I went heavy about a month ago or so with fungacide and I still have brown spots. I did the bug treatment too. I watered the hell out of it today and ran the rake over it and it looked like it needs power raking so i purchased one to be here saturday. I also purchased a hand aerator to open the soil and water it heavy. Can I still use my Superjuice? You never talk about it anymore!
First let me say that my husband and I enjoy watching your how to videos.....just saw your vegetable garden segment....why don't you have someone from a food bank come once or twice a week and give them 1 or 2 rows to pick from......that may help with your "abundance" of food...? Keep the videos coming!! OBX is watching!
Can you give use a link to your Japanese beetle bag? That you showed us on your video. Love everything you do on this channel. Thank you and keep posting!!
I said this on another video but that wood is going to take so long to break down and the roots like to get tangled up in them and dry out fast. Gotta get some "dirt booster, dirt booster, dirt booster" going to break that stuff down as fast as possible. It is a nightmare if you get frost or long heat waves, just dies.
I just got done digging up my yard cause I had that happen to me, stringy wood pulp and lots of chips plus was going over clay and a layer of gravel I didn't know the builders put under the top "soil". My yard just straight died on me over winter and hardly any of that wood had broken down over that time, even after a summer, without life in the soil it had barely made progress. Terrible mistake on my part.
Doc excellent video on Fungus, I put down the Prophesy 5 weeks ago, its been hot mid 90's and humid the past several weeks with afternoon thunder showers. I spot sprayed some areas that looked weak today with a liquid fungicde. I have Icon zoysia and the establised areas look great following the lawn guide with PGF complete every 4 to 5 weeks with superjuice treatments in between. My biggest areas of concern are newer areas which were sodded back in February they don't look near as healthy as the established areas. Should I reapply the Prophesy again, I'm really not sure it is a fugus issue. Any advice is welcome
Going away from zoysia? Seems you gave up on it at your beach house. I thought you were going Zenith in the back yard at your farm property, but now going commom Bermuda? Was looking forward to you going zoysia.
@HowTowithDoc I understand that, having gone through 2 seedings myself (due to severe washout). It's just that I spent so many years working on Bermuda at golf courses, that I can hardly stand looking at it anymore. Bermuda is a fine turfgrass, and you've shown several times how great it can look in a home lawn. I've just grown to prefer zoysia much more.
This is my first year growing them but I'm not going to lie the best cucumbers I've ever grown “party time” you can only order the seeds from one place but definitely worth it.
Looks like your wash came from where your Timbers weren’t butted up end to end. If they were then the water would have gradually seeped through and around and not caused the erosion. Some erosion control wattles placed on the driveway side of the Timbers would be great and keep the washing and rutting to a minimum till you get some grass established. Sure beats digging a long trench.
Doc! Thank you for all your advice. Silly question: Do you think I can fill 9k sq GA clay bare ground over time with SOD “runners/stolons” What’s your advice?
In VA with fescue, had a lot of heavy rain lately. Grass is 5-6” right now because I haven’t been able to cut. What height would you recommend right now with the heat/rain/humidity?
Same here man and same type of grass in chesterfield county. I have been doing a great job this year with fungus cycling group 3 and group 11 every 14 to 20 days
@@wat2000 nice man. Same, I'm on Azoxy/Propiconazole every few weeks and it's been good so far. Just cut grass yesterday for the first time in over a week.
TheAndersons released a new product supposedly for hot/dry situations - Hydra Charge... Was that something you collaborated with them on? Is it something you might mention as useful, not useful?
Doc, please do a video on how to get rid of raccoons. I have to take all of my bird feeders down each evening because the raccoons will empty them out and destroy some of the feeders. Other than trapping them I don't know of any other method.
Hi, Doc - great video - again. With all the extra produce, would a Food Pantry take some? Perhaps Scouts could come and pick some of those beans! ;-) Just a thought...
Sorry about that I meant thank you for your advice. What do you suggest to use anything prevent disease or just wait until things happen? I am located in Canada.
Doc.. If you plan on staying here long term.. Why not excavate that entire area to remove all of the construction debris buried in the soil? You’ll only have to do it once in your lifetime. Then, you can plant the nicest Bermuda seed/ sod you want.

Looking beautiful Doc! Thanks for everything. Need to build you a fire pit area out there in front of the lake. Beautiful property and transformation

Zoysia type? And what pre-emergent do you use?
Thanks
@rizzotto139 I have Meyer Zoysia and I use Baricade by the andersons for pre emergent
In Denver we don't cut the lawn short, certainly not scalp. We do not have humidity.

Hi Doc gaining more knowledge. Thanks so much. I gotta know where did you get that hat? I love it😊
I couldn't tell from the video - I have a couple of fungus looking spots so do I spot treat or treat the whole yard?
Going away from zoysia? Seems you gave up on it at your beach house. I thought you were going Zenith in the back yard at your farm property, but now going commom Bermuda? Was looking forward to you going zoysia.
Zoysia seed is hard to get and we have gotten some that won't germinate. $75 / lb is getting to be too much.

Sit, great info. How do I email you pictures? Like to have you tell me what I have.
Aren’t you supposed to wait 2 weeks before applying a second application of fungicide?
It's actually a FULL coat spilt in two.

Already solved. it's actually from the installed drainage system.
@@HowTowithDoc Gotcha, yards gonna look great. House is beautiful 👍👍
I need a recommendation for a lawn sweeper that will actually pick up the aeration cores.
Look at the previous videos on aeration. I posted it there and will be posting again next week.

Applied Fungicide the first week in May so hopefully I will not have a fungus problem but with all of this rain who knows?
Hi, I suggest taking your extra produce to a local food bank I am sure a local church will have something.

put the feeders on a 4x4, cut up some chicken wire and wrap it around the 4x4 with the sharp edges facing down, it will keep the squirrels off too .
No good way to stop them. We have taken 46 off the property and plan on taking up to 75 to reduce the population or else we can have chickens.
Or turkeys. Raccoons are their number one predator.

@@HowTowithDoc Wonderful! You should be proud, Doc! Happy Independence Day!
Going to try and make a "beach" there by the pond? Would look great with some sand :)
We plan to add some gravel areas and sand areas. The fish like the gravel.
Doc do you recommend adding a surfactant to propiconazole?
Since it is systemtic not really a need
You need the good witch to come over
I need this video. I think I have a fungus issue .
Take a shower more than once a week bro
I heard you can use baking soda and mix With water and spray onto your lawn to prevent lawn disease? Any truth to that ?
Nope. All it does is raise the PH so it's a SURFACE treatment only. Not a systemic treatment. Good for garden plants not effective on soils and lawns.

It's listed on that page granular.

Because the dogs use it and as long as it looks OK / nice I'm fine with it.
I use Steer manure compost from Home Depot with Dirt Booster. I couldn't find black cow. I assume it's the same?
That's fine.
Baking soda, 1 tablespoon per 1000 sq/ft, 3X in one week for lawn fungus.
All that does is raise the PH. It's not really a treatment.
Peal the squash, scoop out the seeds and make the best bread and butter pickles of your life. Same with zucchini.
give to your local food bank
The good witch is working on that and we allow neighbors and local single moms with kids to come out and pick. The kids love it.
Find someone who raises pigs & give them the squash.
