I did my scalp yesterday. But I also had to dethatch on top of that. I haven't dethatched the yard since it was installed as sod back in 2016. Added PGF and some pre emergent on top of that. I'm excited about the upcoming growing season. Thanks for all your advice, Doc.

I already did a pre scalp and I got some liquid 12-4-8 and 16 4 8 and some deep green from the andersons and I'm also going to use your old-school 16-0-8 as a iron affect . I have also got some certified prevegenics I have some double dark with bio nite I also got some 24-0-11. And some 30-0-10 and I'm following the lawn guides even tho I'm using different kind of fertilizers. Great job keep the hard work youngster . Your also going to need a lot of dirt booster for the rack ranch.? You should make a small golf course to tie into your land I know it's a lot of work but you do have a lot of bermuda their. Hey Doc I'm taking some regular 10-10-10 and I'm crushing it to a smaller size to save money to get a better distribution just like the Andersons micro 10-10-10. 🤔 really all beaded granular products need to be smaller but not dusty small to get a better coverage?🤷
What’s better, putting pre emergent down late or on a saturated lawn? I got 120lbs of Anderson pre emergent in my garage and really don’t want to waste it. I’m in SC and can’t seem to catch a break from the rain long enough for my Bermuda lawn to dry. About half the lawn is squishy from constant rains. I worry that March 15th will come and go before it dries enough to put down pre emergent. Should that happen, what would be the ‘lesser of the two evils’? Is there a ballpark estimate when you’d consider it too late for pre emergent all together?

Today i have gone down a rabbit hole of watching burning bermuda videos in the spring before green up (my lawn is slowly starting to green up). I am considering a controlled (safely) burn of my lawn instead of scalping….what are your thoughts on this?
I was raised on Bermuda lawns. I just bought my first house and it's got a tall fescue yard. Pretty neglected. But I think with your teachings I'll bring this thing back to life, I'll be following your fescue calendar! Wish me luck!
Oh for sure. That's in the plans when it becomes more financially viable in a couple years. I'll have the whole yard converted to Bermuda. But for the mean time I've got to give it a chance. So I'll be prepping to seed in the fall on my bald spots. It's crazy to think this was put in the heart of west texas. We see 110° summers!
@@reyboy4284 yeah its gonna be an uphill battle. I'm in Virginia and the medians on the roads become pure bermuda since they don't get any water but rain and all full sun. They don't plant Bermuda.......it just does what bermuda does. Last summers I sod cut my Zoysia-ish front yard out and put Monaco Bermuda. Put the Zoysia in the slightly shaded back yard where my Huskys run. Front yard is insane! Amazing. Doesn't cost as much s you'd think.

I have 4 acres of bermuda grass. It cost me about 1800 per year in chemicals and fertalizers. Pro Ranger About 5 gallons. I wish i had your lawn it would be very cheap and easy.. my lawn takes 4 hours to mow with 60 in Zero turn

Since my soil test show I have high phosphorus, can I still use the PGF Balance 10-10-10 or should i use something else for the "jump start" program. And when the time comes, would you recommend the regular Anderson's 16-0-8 over the PGF Complete 16-4-8?

Can you tell us what seed you used for the putting green? I went with Bermuda for the lawn last year and it has been great but it absolutely will not grow anywhere near the oak tree. That looks like it is shade tolerant.

Just did my pre-scalp today. Pre-emergent 2 weeks ago and will apply it again in another week or so before a rainy day.
Cool season here it was a week of warm weather in va and boom Poa already around in mid February. So the two weeks early advice is smart

I have a 27” trucut. Wish a had a son to use it. Lol. I have it set as low as it will go and it will only get it to about 1/2-3/4”.

Pre emergent , In Mass the temp 50 to 55* happens around April 10 a month earlier than your map shows

Any grass will grow in sandy soil, it's more of a temp / climate issue.

If you can in your climate, ditch the tall fescue if at all possible. It's so much more involved to get it right because it doesn't spread.
