This song is criminally underrated.
Absolutely
Leper messiah is the Trapped under Ice of Master of puppets
Agree 1000%. 🤟
That riff is so heavy! Great workout song
Honestly my favorite on the album
Time for Ride the lightning and And...Justice for all
Kill 'em All too.
Every Metallica album.
@@darthkso3745 including a 75 minute st anger video
This needs to happen.
And justice for all is the best album ever
Imagine how we felt in ‘86, already Metallica devotees, when this album dropped. Man I miss the ‘80’s.
I can relate! I was 16 years old in 86' awaiting the new album and it didn't disappoint!....and I still have it to this day!
I was talking about that the other day... like... I was old enough to remember when this album came out, but I was still too young to have been ready for it, etc... but how amazing would that be? Like, that's even different than hearing it for the first time yourself... My friends of course told me I HAD to listen to it, and they weren't wrong. It's a masterpiece... but buying that album the day it dropped... going home, cranking up the hifi or popping the cassette in your tape deck on the way home form Tower records.... and hearing it for the first time... and knowing that no one else heard it... that's somehow even better. They may have had some albums that weren't great... but nothing really "Bad" and this is I fell their best work. Justice, is a "Better" album.... but, it's not the same. Jason trying to fill those shoes was impossible, and the guys never let him forget it... and unfortunately that hurt the band as a whole. Anyway, thank you for coming to my ted talk review.
Word. It was a monster.
Me too missed 80-thies
I wish I could relate...
But man, I love being born in the 2000's, because I can listen to whole Metallica in HQ, and that's kinda priceless
Leper messiah and eye of the beholder are two songs that not a lot of people know but two of my favorite!
Those are in my top ten favorite metallica songs.
Do you see what I see?
Eye of the Beholder is a fucking masterpiece.
And everyone says it's the worst on AJFA..
Do you hear what I hear?
And The Shortest Straw...
"This is one of my favorite guitar riffs on the album" is then immediately hit with an even better one \m/
Agree!
Definitely not my favorite but that's not to say it's a bad song.
For me, there isn't a bad song on the album.
I just felt compared to tracks like battery, puppets, heroes, damage Inc. This one didn't match the other tracks on the album.
Similar to Trapped on the RTL album.
My opinion only.
The main part of Leper Messiah is pretty average for Master if Puppets (so still pretty damn awesome) but the switch to the solo section has got to be one of my favourite musical passages of all time. The way you get a completely new melody, that starts of relatively clean, but is adapted perfectly to become a thrashy masterpiece. The menacing rhythm guitar underneath just makes it even better too, especially when Hetfield uses harmonics live.
dude that riff right after is incredible, keep in mind they were all in their early to mid 20s while writing this masterpiece of an album, and the 2 before were also absolute masterpieces, metallica are truly an unbeatable band
Dude, nice savatage profile, gutter ballet 🤘
The guitar tone on this album has never been duplicated by anyone, ever. Not even by Metallica on any other recording. And the tone stands out maybe the most on this song.. just incredible.
I love the unusual riff throughout the song but that part starting at 5:40 is when this song elevates to godly level.
Clever choice of word lol
I'm 52 years old and was 17 and a senior in high school when this dropped in '86 and was already a fan since I first heard Whiplash a few years prior. Dude. Seriously. Completely mind blowing. Now imagine being 19 and going to see them live at an outdoor concert in '89... Holy hell I miss the 80's...
Saw them on Monsters of Rock tour summer of 88. Haven’t seen them since! 😒
You're so lucky! I remember what it was like to see them live for the black album anniversary and I won't lie I teared up a little because I couldn't believe I got to see them on stage.. So I can't imagine what it's like to have been there when the first albums dropped.
Totally agree. was 16 in '86 and saw them at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. Was life changing.
My first was Justice. It was in Fayetteville NC. General admission in a venue not a lot bigger than a nice HS gym. Queensryche opened. Seen them 4 times since then, but its just not the same. I was deaf with a nose bleed from headbanging so much right when we left. So close james’ sweat would hit us. Lol Yep, just not the same. Lol
Well did you see them back then? You never said.
We all wan't a" And justice for all.. reaction 😁 the whole album 🇩🇰
Yes indeed, those riffs are magicaly insanity!
That's my vote. And Justice For All
The best metallica album
@@kuplung22 Ah, a man of culture
We wants it. We neeeeeeddddsss it!
We were supposed to bring in a song and break down its lyrics in middle school. I brought in this song. All the students and the teacher stared at me like I brought in heroin for show and tell. I felt very alienated. Now I know that I was the only one with taste in music.
Loved this story...i wish i had gone to school with you
I've brought Tool's "prison sex". My teacher cried
Leper Messiah and Disposable Heroes are the most underrated Metallica songs
Yeah and I'll add to the list Dyers Eve, Trapped Under Ice and Damage Inc.
And atlas rise
I'll ad some more, the God that failed, dream no more, invisible kid and bad seed

Through the Never
...And Justice For All album is a MUST. A lot heavier and complex
Their best album.
Absolutely
The only flaw: absent bass
but don't overlook Ride The Lightning
And it's bass is awesome
I remember being a little girl and I would sit in our living room and listen to this album over and over. Reading the lyrics from the cassette tape. The good old days when music was amazing!
me too! what a good times had sittin next to the audio system and reading the lyrics of the book of the album...it was at my 7 or 8 years .. sorry my english
Coheed and cambria, Caligulas horse, leprous, 10 years, opeth, trivium.. there's still amazing music. It's just called progressive metal 😉🤣🤘
i mean im 16, still a little girl compared to most on here, but ill tell ya, i listen to metallica almost everyday
Leper Messiah is such an awesome song - one of their best ever. MOP is definitely a contender for the best metal album of all time.
I think it could only be eclipsed by paranoid from sabbath, number of the Beast from maiden or the blackening from machine head
ua-cam.com/video/lx4sLZnZz5U/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TommiKuusela
Master of puppets and painkiller are both tied at #1
there is nothing to contend it tbh lol
@@pooptrox254 i respectfully disagree great album tho
You should DEFINITELY react to the ...And Justice for all album
The dog doing backup vocals at the end made it so much better!
Every song on this album could be a single release and reach platinum!
All the songs are so powerful, that from each one could a band live for their entire life!
Now you know why this is the only heavy metal album in the library of congress.
Shame, though. We need a lot more in there!
this is one of my favorite metallica songs, I clicked so fast 💀
Same
Same
"I need to see this band live!!"
You are fucking right.
"this makes me want to get a damn all chest piece metallica tattoo"... that sir, is an excellent idea!!!! \m/
History lesson. Back in the early 80's... Jim Baker and Jimmy Swaggart... both t.v. evangelists were taking shots at Ozzy, Metallica, and other metal bands. This was supporting Ozzy... can be seen on 19.95 home vid. Cliff Em All...
Seen Metallica live 8 times bro. You're so missing out on something you will never forget.
The awkward moment when you forget you already did Orion 😀
Glad to see all the love for Leper Messiah in the comments. Always thought I was almost alone in totally loving this song. Heavy, has a groove, maybe a bit of foreshadowing of 90s metal. Awesome in my book!
Alex: This is my favorite riff.
Metallica: Hold our beers!
And yes, this is the greatest album ever. Ever!
Arguably the best but ofc one the best
That's Mustaine's chord progression. And no... 1/2 the record is regressive crap. It's not even in the top 10 thrash records of all time. Token thrash crap!
Thats one of the things that made metallica a real band, more instrumental than lyrics
You don't know what's your favorite guitar riff before you hear and justice for all album.
Absolutely true. My favourite one actually is from Disposable Heroes but, you really need to listen to the AJFA album first before making any statements. Each individual song on this album contains enough killer riffs to write a whole album from. Absolute MUST to listen to. Please Alex, look at this.
@@marcinbranka1000 Metallica is my favorite band and I like songs from every album and I think the same can be said about Death Magnetic too. I have been listening to it a lot lately and there are so many good riffs on that album its ridiculous.
@@MrWhite0052 Absolutely. The neglect for that album is absurd.
Cannot forget the gem that Kill 'Em All. The one that started it all.... Ride the Lightning
One of the less heard song of "Master of Puppets". However, I always loved this one ! And I had the chance to see Metallica playing it live back in Rock in Rio 2004 in Lisbon, Portugal. It was great !!!
I left for the Army in 87 the year this album came out. Ended up as a M1 tanker. (19 K) Our loader had a loud as hell boom box and a rubber strap to hold it down. It broke every rule in the UCMJ but we we heard this tape every time we went into the field! Fighting mans music!
Sheep.
The rythm part of the solo in this song is pure genius
When you grow up listening to music like this most of the music that is made today will never be able to measure up in any way, shape, or form.
i have seen Metallica live 11 times, and it is hands down the best live experiens i have ever seen, constant chills for 2 hours str8🤩
I’m a Christian and it’s sad that these things happen. But don’t let religion keep you away from Christ because they are two different things. Trust God and His Word. Not people. People are corruptible. The Bible says “cursed is the man that trusts in man”.
Very well said.
Amen
"This is one of my favorite guitar riffs, though! I can say that confidently. One of my favorite guitar riffs on the album."
I was like, just wait another couple seconds.
my best friend in high school played "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" and "Master of Puppets" when we went to lunch one afternoon ... I immediately went out and bought the Master of Puppets cassette tape. By far my favorite - and song I played the most, was Leper Messiah. Master of Puppets was the first cassette I had ever bought .... and when CDs became a thing, ...and Justice For All was the first music CD I ever purchased ... followed by the CD version of Master of Puppets .... :P
The most underrated Metallica song 🤘🔥
I've seen this band perform live. Best night in my life. Every metal head has to watch them play live at least once
This song is so groovy. It's like Orion with lyrics. The main riff is so friggin catchy. Very groove oriented.
...👍🏻loved this reaction.
The "galloping" he keeps referring to is James Hetfield.. the master of down-picking and just bad ass rythm quitar riffs.
😎 Rock on...
Everyone needs to see this band live... before they ends their careers.
Are you kidding these guys will probably die performing. I don't see retirement any time soon for Metallica.
I saw them August 2017 and it was awesome. Amazing experience. Everything from the Ecstasy of Gold to the final part of Sandman was such a great time
@@88fanforlife read like Monica:”I KNOW” haha
I mean yeah every concert I’ve watched - was the best way to feel ALIVE. I love them every single part of me. And I hope y’all too:) peace ✌️

This is the one band that I would love to be able to see live. I haven't been to that many concerts in my life. But Metallica would be that one band that I hope I can see one day.
Man, you reacting to a live Metallica is a MUST! Believe that.
Couldn't agree more, even as older dudes.......always a great show!!!!!👍
Seattle 89 is the best live show ever
Always love that Burton line at the end: "That was sick."
This song is one of my top metallica songs. I love it all about it.
This is my favorite Metallica song...

Alex + Metallica = like & press play 👍🏼
I saw Metallica, Black tour. No opening band. 3 and a half hours of Metallica. Plus, the pit in the middle of the stage. That show was AWESOME
Yeaaa...anything by these guys, I will most definitely be along for the ride. Every album in particular....including st. Anger
Hi Alex, One of my favorite songs ever! The guitar is so clean and crunchy! The best! So cool to have you reacting to this song!
The next track on the album to conclude a golden age for the band now over is "Damage Inc." a piece that is similar to Battery but its form of composition is totally different from Battery, which has no better way to react and ends a beautiful album, I recommend you go for the album Ride The lightning and you will see why the band ended as one of the best of their time.
Absolutely, agree on 100 percent with you
They are awesome live. They played this when I went to their concert.
Yes, a lot of music today (and popular music in general) is mostly about the celebrity of the singer, rather than the music itself. The music is really just a backing track or a "stage" for the singer.
Yo Alex, Master Of Puppets has also been adopted by the Library Of Congress as a music recording that changed the Nation!!
My fave track off this record
"I need to see this band live."
yes, yes you do!
Un temazo🎸🎶un acierto, con una letra punzante, eso es meter el dedo en la llaga, hasta el fondo 👉
5:40 one of my favorite riffs of all time
Agreed
You are one of the best reacters out there🤘🏻👍😎🤘🏻
He’s not one of them
He is the best reacter out there
@@heavymetalcompilations4784 my mistake, he is THE best reacter out there
The title of the song is taken from a line in David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust" ("Ziggy sucked up into his mind...like a leper messiah"). Around the time they wrote the album they were listening a lot of Bowie's classics. The post-solo riff on "Master Of Puppets" (written by Cliff Burton) is also shaped on the main riff from Bowie's 1971 song "Andy Warhol".
I do need to see Metallica live. I was lucky to be able to see them live 4 times and all those occasions are on the top 10 best days of my life.
My 18th birthday present to my twin sons, was Metallica live on the O2 arena in London. Best present ever they said.
Do it before its too late, 110% worth it!!
Ok, now it's time for my favorite Metallica album : Ride The Lightning
Give it a try, it is truly awesome (The Call of Ktulu ♥️)
It's such a privilege to be able to relive through you rediscovering my favorite band of all time. I was 14 when I heard this, and i couldn't understand completely the lyrics but it was so out there compared to 80's music. Ironically most my friends criticized the music I heard, it's just screams they said, but pop music was so shallow when compared to this.
Probably one of their most underrated song. In my opinion one of the best solos by Kirk.
Wish they still made music like this. Fucking HEAVY.
Leper messiah is so underrated man
Got this album on vinyl for christmas in '87, when i was 16 y.o. My first metal album ever, but im still to find a better one!!
Every song is a masterpiece on a masterpiece album
Love playing this tune on guitar. Slow and heavy riffing into fast tempo bridge then straight back into the slow and heavy part at the start.
Unfortunately, this song is not played a most set lists when they play live. I was lucky to have witnessed this song in a set list back in 2010 when I saw them in Columbus, OH. Only took 15+ times seeing them to get this one lol.
😂
My favorite riff is from Iron Maiden's Afraid to Shoot Strangers.
Honest one of their sickest songs! I can't wait to see it live one day
Saw them in '92-'93 when Trujillo was with Suicidal Tendencies, Metallica as the headliner and Danzig in tow. People were being hauled out on stretchers.
Maybe one day System of a Down "Holy Mountains" ? Greetings from Poland
Pozdrawiam kolegę z Polski ;)
Gtfo w shitstem😂

Metallica >>>>>>>>> SOAD
@@oldkid8811 yeah and? Does that matter?
You need to react to "The outlaw torn" and "bleeding me" Those songs are the most underrated songs they have.
Agreed. I’m guilty for hating on Load and Reload when they came out for no real reason and I never really gave them a chance. I started listening to those albums at age 36(last year) and now I love those albums!! So many amazing songs!!!
This guy makes me happy. Reminds me how blown away I was when I discovered all of this myself back then. Thank you for keeping this flame alive, and most of all, thank you for sharing with the world how to get into Metal Music even though it's not your musical background to begin with. People who don't listen to this kind of music have no idea what a rollercoaster of emotions they're missing !
METALLICA is a group of show offs and i love it
"That was sick" is almost audible at the end of the song (just before the last percussion). Probably said by Cliff or Flemming in studio.
The definition of Leper Messiah, super underrated in comparison to the other songs in the album. Amazing.
Pretty sure cliff said "that's it" at the end there.
@@hairybutte175 when you isolate it and slow it down, you can definitely here "that's it" in Cliffs voice.
"...And Justice For All" is their best album
@BLOODY FACE OH I know! iI hear you. I think about that often actually. I think they did that to further haze Jason
First 5 albums are .
@BLOODY FACE oh Yeah And Jason's one of the great Bassist
@BLOODY FACE Oh Totally!
This is probably my favorite song off the album
You absolutely need to see them live.
React to The Call Of Ktulu 🤘🏼
It would be unrealistic to hope for but GOD DAMN I'd love it if you did Ride The Lightning and ...And Justice For All as well.
Throw in the Black album after those two, as well...ah shit, better do Kill 'Em All and Death Magnetic too. Are we greedy or what?
Wow. I been with you since about 15k subscribers. Didn't realize your coming up on a million. You deserve it!
Best Songs on MOP:

2.Leper Messiah🤘
3. Orion
4.Sanitarium
5.The thing that Should not be

As a Christian I agree with this song. So many good churches that care about its congregation but the bad ones steal the headlines. One strong indicator that you are at the wrong church is if the pastor drives an expensive car or lives in a fancy house.
You definitely do NEED to see these live. They are awesome
I've never seen someone get so excited and bang their head in such an awkward way after hearing the beginning riff. 😂 Lol his reactions are always the greatest 👍

How TF did I miss this upload??? One of my favorite songs on the album!!!
Their current bass player used to be in suicidal tendencies who had a son called " send me your money " I highly recommend it
Man what a strange name to give your son.
Nice lil' son he got there
They have a lot of good songs. Suicidal for life!
My vote for next “full album project” would be “Number of the Beast” by Iron Maiden.
Seeing your joy, reacting to this, makes my day!
"I need to see this band live" SO TRUE. I have been so fortunate to have seen 3 live shows, and I also "need to see this band live"
