I don't care what anybody says Master of Puppets is the number one heavy metal album from first opening note to last ending note ever made ever made ever made ever made.
About Jimmy Swaggart Jim and Tammy Bakker were the televeangelists that James is talking about here but it also includes more modern ones like that evil old man who slaps his wife on air or the moron with his ever expanding jet airplane collection.
My favorite line in this is song - Send me money, send me green, heaven you will meet, make a contribution and you'll get a better seat. Song is about greedy TV evangelists.
As a metalhead (F) who has been listening to this album for nearly 30 years, seeing your joy at not only hearing this song for the first time but also getting the underlying message and seeing your excited enthusiasm for the music. That really made my day. You got a new subscriber Lilly.
@@Shawn-mo6dh The hole album is a masterpiece and you can hear it from the first to the last song through and it is getting even better. This is very rare nowadays.
Lilly Jane, please keep the metal reactions coming, even when you run out of Metallica. Your reaction videos are the only ones I enjoy anymore. They are one of the few things that help me get through the day anymore. I get so happy when i see a new upload. You listen to the music and can pay attention and hear the lyrics, and your honesty gives you credibility that every reaction is genuine. Your enthusiastic and positive presentation is something I admire and look up to, and i can it's genuine too. More metal reactions please. You're awesome.
Well said, I agree! So many reaction videos seem disingenuine, with a strong focus on solely getting more attention put on the reactors themselves, almost to the point of narcissism. Lilly Jane, however, your videos don't exude any of that "look at me" vibe I get from others. Thanks for posting!
I bought that record the day it came out and have heard that song at least a thousand times but never considered your interpretation of the music. I think you absolutely nailed it and it makes me like the song more. Great job.
Seen all reactions your reactions :) i dont know how i missed my 3 metallica favorite song ever :) as a fun fact a few years ago i was recording a song on studio with some friends and we had a game that was - Imagine you are on a desert island and you can only take one music album to listen to my instant answer was "Master of Puppets" not because it has my favorite and 3 favorite metallica song but because i never felft borred listening to this album !!
Great insight about the march! I you ever want to do The Four Horsemen, please pick this live version: Live Shit: Binge & Purge, San Diego '92. Lars does something epic and the whole band reaches the epitome of Metal.
1:33 Absolutely Love This Chugga..Chugga Palm Muted Guitar Riff Right Here!!.. As It Fades & Let’s The Bass Come In W/That Melodic Line…Than Repeats!!..KILLER!!
I've always thought of this song as being directed at TV evangelists, more than religion broadly. This seems especially true when you consider the second verse with the "Taken by his glamor" and "fame, fame . . . stinking drunk with power" lines.
James has a long standing frustration and regret when it comes to blind faith of religion. The animosity and anger is really potent throughout this track. It's a topic he broaches in a lot of their songs: Unforgiven, God That Failed are a couple others.
Only just realised how ride the lightening the solo in leper Messiah is and I've only been listening to it for over 20 years 😂. Amazing reaction as ever, thanks for your always interested and interesting reactions.
Unknown I'm probably going crazy on the comments. But you're my favorite reactor and I really want you to hear some of hopsin. I recommend the 1st video you watch is one of his more recent ones which is alone with me. He is so Focused on his work that sometimes he will take months or even a year off just to write and produce a song that he deems worthy. I am sorry if some of my spelling or wording is off I am visually impaired.
Damage Inc. My favorite But Masters of Puppets is an entire masterpiece. Every song is good. Exception The Thing That Should Not Be But that's just my opinion.
Once you work your way to the Black Album, you will find a song that book-ends perfectly with this song called "Holier Than Thou". Awesome song. Love watching these uploads of yours. Keep 'em coming!

Killer song! Great reaction! I literally love every track on this album. But, I will say that I often skip Master of Puppets just because I've heard it way more than the others via radio over many years. Also, I use to have the album on repeat forever, along with Justice, and a couple of Iron Maiden albums. Can't wait for your reaction on the next track of this album, Orion.
Yeah I’m not a fan of the title song Master of puppets because I heard it way too many times, And then stranger things definitely ruined the song for me IMO.
Wishing you a ton of success and luck on 2023! 6:23, 7:42 Love it :) I could never recreate my first listening to this melody. But the number of times I re-winded the cd for these parts is countless. 11:15 Least favorite song on MOP? None. It is an album I would personally always rate (in context) 10/10, and I don't rate it lightly. Maybe the song I always returned to the least, 'The Thing That Should Not Be". But I can't say I don't rate this song a 10/10 either :) the main riff alone if at my top 5 Metallica riffs.
this is easy my favorite song from this album... "bow to leper messiah" !! remember when I got this Album and Leper was so Original (what I have heard before) learned it on guitar, the breakdown part is fucking mind blowing heavy lml (-_-) lml
Leper Messiah is one of the most under-appreciated Metallica songs. So very heavy. My least favorite song on the Master of Puppets record is probably The Thing That Should Not Be or Welcome Home (Sanitarium), but I love both of those songs. Orion and Damage Inc. are next and I'm here for it. Have a great day whoever sees this!
I agree 100% on the whole thing. Though, on their Seattle Live concert in 89, those two songs are amongst my favorite. James' power in his vocals take both songs to another level. Leper Messiah has one of the best middle jam sections of any of their songs, IMO. A truly perfect album.
@@ktgo4424 Ohh absolutely. Sanitarium live incredible and The Thing That Should Not Be is incredibly heavy live. Metallica playing live just makes everything better. More power, adrenaline, energy, and all of that.
One of my all time favorite albums. A true masterpiece. As a Christian, I don't look at this as an anti Christian or anti religion song. It's pointing out the TV evangelical types. Every aspect of life has it's nuts, even religion.
If you like this kind of thematic you should check "Send me your money" from Suicidal Tendencies (An often overlooked band which is incidentaly also one of the previous bands of Metallica's current bassist Robert Trujillo)
Suicidal Tendencies - Send Me Your Money, is another really great tune about the super preachers. Also happens to be Robert Trujillo's old band. If you haven't heard it you'd probably dig it.
Good morning from New England..I just subbed after seeing this reaction..It's been a while since I've seen somebody do a reaction to this particular song...I'm a drummer and this is one of many Metallica songs I enjoy playing..I've been looking thru some of your vids and I haven't seen any GOJIRA yet...If you like heavy techy but still catchy AF metal give a listen to BACKBONE THE SHOOTING STAR OR THE HEAVIEST MATTER OF THE UNIVERSE and you'll be banging your head for days...Peace from the Northeast...
There will never be another album from start to finish like "Master Of Puppets". EVER!!!
100% agreed
the only song i might skip...sanitarium.the ONLY one i might skip,,,,,

That's for damn sure!!!!
Well some tool albums and ratm albums fit that category
It's one of their most underrated tracks. Buried in a legendary album. Nice react \m/ \m/
