what cut scene made you laugh the most?
"It's not his last name..."
Zorro was hilarious! It will get too corny after a while lmao
I was just imagining a person getting interested in what I was watching and then they see that zorro scene
The scene where you cut to the last song (Damage Inc.) and reacted to that...oh wait...
You should check out Van Canto they did an accapella version of this song that stacks up pretty well. (The band is 6 vocalists and a drummer).
Phil Spidamen
The entire album is an absolute masterpiece!
It is true. Every single song is a no skip
I’m always torn between this album and Ride the Lightning album as which is my favorite. These two are both so very good for so many things.
Damn right!
True mutha fuckin story
Yep. Doesn't get better than this album🔥🤘
Now that you've experienced how the album starts, you need to see how it ends with "Damage Inc."
Don't give him ideas, we'll lose him. ;-)
Hell Yeah Caleb! I back this message 1000000%!!!!!
Might as well do a whole album reaction, its one of there best ones.
My favourite Metallica track (Damage, Inc.). You will be completely blown away. Perhaps Alex should react to the WHOLE Master of Puppets album. Just a wild suggestion 🤷♂️🤘🏻🇬🇧🖤
@@russellhamilton2877 same...that song is so special, it's kind of the definition of thrash metal for me
Not enough people talk about James as a lyricist. He’s truly underrated in my opinion. “Hungry violent seeker, feeding off the weaker” just so good, I love it.

"underrated" said nobody ever you UA-cam idiots need to stop using that word on every fucking song video.

@@rafaelxxx8434 The title may be Welcome Home but I always called it Sanitarium as well.
Best Metallica song hands down!
Believe it or not this was kind of an underground album. No radio play or videos until “one.” No internet and no free long distant calls during this time. A friend or older brother had to tell you about Metallica.
So very true. I am so thankful my older brother and friends had good taste in music.
I found this album by accident. I was in 7th grade in 1986 and my parents let my sister and I each get 2 cassettes when they joined Columbia House. Remember the stamp booklet? So I choose Ratt and then Master of Puppets for nothing more than the cover. Didn't know who they were nor heard anything from them. Best accidental find of my life!
@@steelerman1974 I did something similar... but didn’t discover Metallica til the black album in ‘91. In the 80s I was more into rock and the Beastie Boys... saw the Boys and a few months later also saw Ratt in concert in 1986. I saw Metallica in ‘97 and again in 2018... and Puppets is by far their best album IMO.
I had been listening to them for a while by the time it came out and you’re right in a way that it was “underground “, but in some ways they were huge in the European metal scene by then and the buzz around them was massive. We just knew that they were becoming the greatest ever metal band and that this was to be their opus magnus.

Why? He'll just talk over the whole song.
@@73challenger5031 would u that or him pausing all the time

The version you heard was pitch-shifted down, as in out of tune. People edit and post it that way to avoid copyright strikes.
It also has some sections shortened by a few bars here and there. LAME!!!
I mean, Metallica tunes down to E flat these days, so pretty much studio....
Honestly he shouldn't be listening to it on UA-cam he should listen on Spotify

BATTERY IS FOUND IN ME!
Sorry to burst your bubble but the battery reference is the place they started making music. They are saying it is what made them and it can never be taken away.
Dave mustang has left the chat.
The last song on the album Damage Inc. will crush you. The solo is epic.
It’s my favorite Solo.
Do not forget that kickass bridge riff that plays before and after the solo that Kirk wrote, which slightly resembles a certain Exodus riff (I swear that riff is on the same level as the Angel of Death bridge riff.
Hell. Yes.
This comes from a time when albums were sold as a whole. As such, track order mattered. It wasn't just a collection of songs, it was the story of what the band was living at the time they recorded.
The first track is generally a mission statement for the whole album, setting the tone for what's to come. From here, you get the meat of the album, and then the last song brings it back to the beginning to make a whole package.
Master of Puppets is the greatest metal album ever! I will not be told otherwise.
I mean pretty much every metal publication in the world agrees.
That's what so many people say! I never understood cause I always liked injustice for all the best
False
I personally don't agree but MoP is a really great record. In my opinion the best metal album or at least the best thrash metal album is Twisted into Form by Forbidden or Peace Sells by Megadeth.

They performed it on Stephen Colbert about 3 weeks ago. Definitely worth a watch. They killed it

This iconic, forever relevant killer album was written by guys that were between 21 & 23 years old.... they didn't have to write one more song and they would have been known forever.. Makes me feel like I have not done anything for this planet in 50 years
This album was written while i was in my mothers womb. It was released less than a month after I was born. My mother and Metallica didn’t realize at the time that they were both creating masterpieces.
When I was in the US Marines I was a Tank Commander in Desert Storm We would name our tanks, Reference the movie FURY anyway I was a huge fan of Metallica and so my tank was named Metallica I took it one step further and also painted "names" of the crew members outside the tank the driver was RIDE the LIGHTNING refer earlier album I , the tank Commander was Master of Puppets, My loader was disposable heroes and my gunner was Kill em all! My unit was Charlie Company 3rd Tank Battalion and we battled at the Kuwait Airport and killed Sadams Republican Guards Tanks and Armored vehicles and eventually liberated the tiny Oil rich nation! in 1991 Just thought you would find this interesting to know that at that time Master of puppets was the warriors type of music and I think we did Metallica proud
I remember how honored I felt hearing that Metallica was being used as a "psychological " weapon in Iraq and Kuwait, I was 20 in 91, alot of friends were enlisting from school, I have lots of military family, my nephew graduated high school, turned 18 and enlisted all last week, so proud of him, and proud of you, thank you.
Glad you were in the Iraq war that was actually justified
Thanks for your service, despite working for the empire this war in 90-91 needed to be fought
Regardless of US interventions elsewhere (subjects Metallica took on)
The first gulf war was something that needed to be done for the good of everyone not just the US
I hope the Black Album was a good welcome home present
Salutè
Lit
Thank you for your service. Modern warrior not risking your life to protect us, thank you sincerely.
Nobody asked, loser
You can not go wrong with a full MOP reaction, this is a cornerstone of Thrash!
Disposable Heroes over time has become my favorite song from this album.
Gah that's a Sophie's Choice.
Depends on which one I'm listening to really.
Still my favorite Metallica song to this day.
Truth!
Sanitarium is my favorite song.
BACK TO THE FRONT!!!!
I just like how his reactions has turned into laughing into acceptance of metal's awesomeness and i can totally relate.
There was no mass public.back then it was just die hard fans who played it loud and didn't care if you liked it or not.cuz we loved it.
Yes now do the song that wraps up the album, “damage inc” anyone interested?

Yes, please...
Yes! My favorite from this album!
damage inc solo is so underrated. crazzzy solo
It seems hes doing the full album
Dude they will open concerts with this song.... Blows the freaking roof off the place lol
I've seen them end on Dyers Eve as well and just shook my head in disbelief.
Your whole zoro killed the tranquility of the intro
Summer of 1988. I'm 18. Monsters of Rock. Liberty Bowl in Memphis TN. Metallica plays this song and I'm in the middle of the pit. It's hot as hell and they are spraying the crowd with firehoses. That is the one of the peaks of metal.
Yes, we definitely need a reaction to the whole album!!🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯
BATTERY!!!!!!!!!! I don’t think I’ve ever clicked on a UA-cam video this fast before!!!
Funny you say that. When this came out, it changed everything. I am 50. This is the most influential album in this genre of music. I think I listened to this album over and over again for a year. This alone.
MASTERS of their craft. Simply the best
This was THE most heavy and bad ass thing back in 1986 when I first heard it at 18 years old. Brings me right back. \,,/
"Most heavy and bad ass thing back in 1986".....not criticizing just genuinely curious. When was the first time you heard 1986's Reign in Blood?
@@Carnage1138 Or Celtic Frost, Sodom, Kreator, Discharge, Possessed etc.?
@@Carnage1138 great question. I actually was not exposed to Slayer until the mid 90s. No one I knew in 1986 was listening to them in Alaska where I lived at the time. Love me some Postmortem now a days though. \,,/
Dude, you should listen to "Outlaw Torn" or "Bleeding me". Those are some of, in my humble opinion, the most underrated Metallica songs!!
The San Francisco Symphony Version!! Better than the album original in my opinion.
100% agree about outlaw torn and bleeding me. Lifelong fan
Bleeding Me is the best post black album song
"Outlaw Torn" Mannheim, Germany 2019 is the best live performance, imo. Awesomeness abound
Love bleeding me!
'To Live is to Die'. It's a masterpiece
Luckily enough, I WAS a teenager when this was released.. Absolutely blew me away, like the two albums before this.. Since then, I've had the pleasure of seeing them live eight times!!!
Thats awesome! Great history. Did you see them in the 80s?
Dude, just do a Metallica month of reactions. We. Will. Love. It. 🤘🏻
You should react to the live versión of this one, Seattle 89 you won't regret it ;)
I have it saved on my iPhone in my music library 😁
I've been misinterpreting the lyrics for literally decades. I thought this song was about domestic violence. Shows what I know. Thank you for clearing that up for me. Makes me wonder what other songs I have a completely incorrect head canon about.
I got my Ride the Lightning tape in 1984, and when Master came out the following year, it almost felt like a callback to the previous album, because it ALSO begins with one of the fastest songs on the album, with a deceptively gentle acoustic intro. They knew what they were doing. They used the same trick but then kicked out all of the windows and blew down the doors with the rest of the album.
In 1985, Ride the Lightning, amazing as it was, was Last Year. Master of Puppets was like a metal butterfly emerging from a cocoon.
Definitely react to the entire album. MoP has to be one of, if not THE best metal albums of all time.
Finally some more Metallica
I was a teenager when this came out! My best friend got the cassette for Christmas We were mesmerized by the whole album, we felt like Metallica had reached Iron Maiden level songwriting and musicianship. So right away we started memorizing the lyrics. And playing air guitar!!!
Listen to the whole album/cassette and read the lyrics. That's how we listened to it.
The entire album front to back, let's go sir.
This is a fantastic album. No duds, no filler. Listen to all of it.
In repeat mode please... LOL.
Agreed. Heroes and Leper are two of best tracks they ever did smack in middle of this masterpiece.
I was never a fan of Disposable Heroes
The thing that should not be was pretty unnecessary tho
This song is heavier live. It's amazing.
Exactly! then the "circle" starts spinning up and the dance begins. mosh pit has begun.....
I’ve witnessed it twice :) \m/ \m/
@@cadwg77 Seen them 4 times myself, such an amazing show, the energy is just something you have to experience.
Metallica - Battery (Live in Seattle 1989) - one of the best metal performances ever without a doubt.
@@Chekatana nope
Live with Dave Lombardo on drums is the best.
To realize that this band created such a mature, well crafted thrash metal album at the ages they were at that time (22-23 years old) is just extraordinary. Glad you're diving into this Alex!
Always amazed me that James plays this rhythm so cleanly while singing live. I'm playing 36 years and never could.
I still struggle with this at 31.
Do the whole album man!! 🤘
Did you just say Battery is the “title track” on the “master of puppets” album? Say that back to yourself but slowly 😂
Disposable Heros is the best song off this album in my opinion and one of my favourite songs by Metallica, you gotta check that song out next Alex!
Nothing like the first time when you hear all the instruments kick in after that acoustic intro. And then the unforgiving non-stop thrash ending. Incredible.
You definitely should react to whole Master of Puppets album.
React to the entire Seattle 89 concert.
Oh shit yeah. Crazy energy like nothing else 🤟🏻
In my opinion, the performance of "creeping death" in that concert is the absolute best rendition of that song. Only '91 Moscow comes close, but not quite up there
Then they played this in Seattle in 89 at warp 9.9 and countless necks have been snapped trying to headbang to it in time ever since.
I think or rather want to think that the warmth you feel while listening is probably their passion. Something really important for me with music is the passion. Hence why I like metallica so much, you feel the passion dripping of every single song.
YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE WHOLE ALBUM!!!! You will NOT be disappointed!! :D
...can his heart last the whole album ? ;)
My fave song on this album is Orion, followed closely by The Thing That Should Not Be.
If you want the opposite feeling of warmth, then Trapped Under Ice and Fade To Black from their second album Ride The Lightning should do fine.
Orion is Cliff’s greatest piece of work.
whenever i listen to some of their first stuff they made i always picture how fucking insane it must've been seeing them live in the 80's
I love what you said about the warm metal hug. On the surface the music is brutally cold like a robot but the core has a lot of heart.
This album is (arguably) the best thrash album of all time, and (less arguably) the best album in Metallicas catalog. You should definitely react to the whole album, it's a masterpiece
I go back and forth between this(knowing it's MOP) and And Justice For All(knowing that's a small blaspheme).
It's always MOP.

It was 1988 and I was riding the bus to school. A friend of mine, Salvador, let me listen to this song on his Walkman. It was the first Metallica song I ever heard. I was just getting into hair metal, mainly Poison and Europe, so I wasn't ready for this just yet. But I still remember it, all these years later. No leaf clover... even my wife loves that song (she is primarily obsessed with symphonic music)
i remember as a 15 you kid when this came out. It was the first time I got into metal. I got the album after school and went straight home and listened to the whole think on headphones. They had the lyrics with the album. I remember that moment in my room that night. It was so intense I'll never forget it. Then I went and immediately bought their other two albums. It was mind blowing - those albums were just as bad ass. My favorite became Kill'em All. As a teenager those songs were so defining. There are a number of other bands that have done that to me, but it is this one that I actually remember the first time I heard it. Back then you had to go and buy the album - there was no internet. It was a better time because you'd just sit there with the Art and the lyrics and just drift. I really like watching people react to them like you did because I remember feeling just like you did. I ended up seeing them live about 4 times - the tour for that album I saw them open up for Ozzy. Then they were headliners from then on out. I'm like a lot of people where I didn't like some of their older stuff. The first 4 albums are classic. The 5th, the Black Album, I liked some of those songs but it was never the same for me with them. The Garage Days albums are great to where they cover great songs of other bands but with their own sound. I haven't seen if you've reviewed Kill'em all, but that one is "The Spark" of Metallica and it holds a dear place in my heart.
