He didn’t kill her because ending her doesn’t end the sisterhood’s influence, which is what he seems to want. Killing her only leaves a void for someone else to fill. The enemy we know is easier to take down then the one we don’t. So instead of killing her, he will probably continue trying to remove the sisterhood from power and then kill her if it comes to it. Better that than to martyr her.
Or he will need them and than kill them he is probably going to manipulate them somehow my guess is this guy deasmond is a proto type Kwisatz Haderach which explains why the voice didn’t work on him since he did come in contact with a worm and most likely it’s poison. He also could be of Paul’s bloodline as well and he wants to bring about the god emperor but he needs the sisters to do it taking their power away from the sisters is a start of his plan. He also would have access to his male ancestors as well and see the future or at least different paths leading to the same conclusion.
Good point. I equated it to a hydra. No matter how many times the head is cutt off, more will take its place. As you said, it's not so much about destroying the leadership but extinguishing the influence they have. Man, Desmonds quest in disrupting the status quo is going to be something to behold! Can't wait 😊
It’s so awesome man, the blue eyed lady who I’m assuming is Fremen since she has the spice addiction eyes and skin color being a rebel and then double reveal to her being a reverend mother was an absolute bomb to me. That was my favorite moment from this episode and both episodes have been so fulfilling
Guys, Dorotea was Lila's grandmother (while Raquela was Lila's great great grandmother, so apparently we weren't introduced to Dorotea's mother). Dorotea even calls Lila "granddaughter" right after Lila mistook her for her own mother. Meaning, Lila's mother, the one whom supposedly died giving birth to her, was Dorotea's daughter. Also, earlier in the episode when Valya told Tula she would have to get Lila to go through the Agony, the death of Dorotea was the secret Tula was referring to, so she WAS worried and apprehensive about Lila encountering Dorotea and discovering that truth.
I’m glad that Achara explained to Jaby that Tula took the risk of the girl finding out about the murder of Rakela’s granddaughter. Tula understood the risk and took it, deciding that the revenge of the murdered woman was worth the knowledge that they would acquire from Rakela.
I feel like the sister being dead is why the emperor starts listening to his wife. When she is around he dismisses his wife and dosnt remember things the same as her. But when she goes he starts listening to his wife more and more. Probably like the old way she mentioned in the last episode.
I think if he were to kill her, he would appear as a recluse, and the Emperor wouldn’t trust him. Up until this point all of his killings have been in service to the Emperor and his interests, but if he were to kill the head of the Sisterhood just because he can, then he loses all of that trust he’s built in an instant. I believe undermining her authority will serve whatever his cause is best in the long run. Also, she is unable to kill him using the voice, so he’s safe from her for the moment, but not from any assassins she may send his way. This is getting good.
This episode has the best visualization for the Other Memory I have yet seen. Super cool. And absolutely book accurate too. One of the dead spirits seizing control of the host body because they aren't strong enough to resist is what happens to Paul's sister Alia. But in her case it was because she awoke to the knowledge of a Reverend Mother in the womb, before her own personality was properly formed.
Desmond told us who he likely is. He said the worm took his eye and he can now see where she cannot. That’s the trait of a kwisak hadirak. The male who can survive the water of life has the memories of all the males and females in his line. This is what Paul had. In the Dune film by David Lynch, Paul talks about this. I’m betting Desmond is somehow a predecessor of what Paul becomes. And as an enemy of the sisterhood, they decide to create one of their own. One they can control. In Dune part one, the Reverend Mother actually says as much. She says Paul is a danger because he was unplanned and thus might not be able to be controlled. Dang. This show is blowing my mind.
The Kwisak Hadirak cannot burn someone to a crisp with thought Desmond is some sort of thinking machine HUman Experiment or Early Form of a Ghola (Clone) or Ixian Technology
Perhaps. Perhaps not. That power might have been lost. I agree, he could be any of those things mentioned. At first I thought he was a Ghola. The thing that makes me wonder though is his knowledge of what happens for the male survivor, and him seeing her footsteps of blood (presumably her murder to gain power).

While I’m loving the show, as someone who enjoyed Raised by Wolves, I can’t get past the almost identical character that the actor who plays Desmond played in Raised by Wolves: a man given a power that changes him into a religious zealot.

Why would they keep the Agony a secret from the rest of the acolytes? The entire Sisterhood at risk, and they all must train to experience the agony. Why shouldn’t they bear witness with their own eyes? Also, Tula knew it was unsafe. She was obviously very reluctant. Valya is one of those people that would tell her so what? Yes I killed Doratea because she put the sisterhood at risk and defied the wishes of her own grandmother, Raquella.
I think the Sisters are too deeply entrenched in the great houses that killing Mother Superior would make her a martyr the sisters could get all the houses to rally behind as a cause. He needs to remove her supports before he kills her
Lila knew her mentor lied about her mother dying in childbirth but did know why (she's gifted as a truth sayer). The actress played that part so well that if you pay attention, you can see the hints.
I don't believe Lila is dead, her sense of 'self' is young and inexperienced but she does exhibit a strength that may save her from being fully possessed or outright killed. I do agree with Jaby, that Desmond and his abilities may be the product of spice and sophisticated AI tech wi-fi implanted in his brain, like a microwave on steroids cooking his victims from the inside out and as long as they're within a certain range.
I viewed it more that he's a tool sent to serve the Emperor for whatever reason and by whomever. His vendetta is against the Sisters, but he isn't given full agency by the Empress. He serves his primary function first and foremost - as a tool to serve the Emperor. And the Emperor didn't have the insight to try and move openly against the whole Sisterhood. So Wurmkind McFry Lothbrok acted as much as he could, and kicked the Sisterhood out of the Imperial Court. It's a symbolic move, and as their influence wanes among the great houses of the Landsraadt (Dune House of Lords). Wormy McFry has to wait for his personal Agenda and the Imperial Agenda to coincide again to move against the Mother Superior. And, if he kills her now, he'll just have to wait for her successors to figure out what the heck is going on, and what the past history was, before they come back into play. And if they shatter into warring factions before McFry is set to detroy the sisterhood en masse, then instead of dealing with one shadow political sisterhood, he has to deal with many. Same reason you don't blow up a large asteroid heading to earth, you can't predict the fallout and you multiply your enemies and fronts.
Cinepals Emily they shield the training Post because with certain skill and technique the blades they use can slice through shields remember the enemy will be shielded so the technique to cut through shields would have to be a form of training.
Consider that the ritual Lila took is one that other sisters took, and it wasn't hidden for them either. It was always a process shared with the other sisters, watched by the other women. It was always a teaching moment. And as a teaching moment, it's probably why they didn't prepare for Lila dying, even though they knew it was a possibility she would.
You also can’t just kill the Mother Superior, that would unit the sisterhood. He wants to destroy them, which would require that the great houses and other leaders stop believing in them. Have to kill the idea
The first lady shown, has the same diamond on her forehead like Dr Yueh did. Which means they have been trained and can't do anything against their training. I wonder if Desmond can cause people who have used "The Spice" to burn internally. He did receive a gift from Shai-Hulud. When Jessica took the water of life, she got all the memories of those who the reverend mother on Arakis had.
Big Question no one is asking: Will Ragnar Lothbrok break Dune lore (much worse than The Last Jedi and Luke Skywalker)!!! Or has he already broken Dune lore... The dude is so powerful so why doesnt he grab the throne for himself? Much stronger than the Kwisatz Haderach. The Emperor was never shown to have any special powers himself. Secondly, how will the space karens spin this into the Voice from the Outer myth?
I think Desmond is a proto-Kwisatz Haderach. It's not yet explained how; Paul was a latent Mentat that underwent Bene Gesserit training + Spice Agony, and Leto II was....well, I won't spoil movie Dune Part 3 events. I think Desmond is somehow metaphysically connected fo Paul and Leto. I saw a theory online he is something of a Herald of the God-Emperor...10,000 years before he was born
@@PresidentProductions well, according to the original Dune lore, I agree with you. But I'm guessing HBO is going to introduce their own take on things

good chance when the worm ate him some of the saliva or potentionally the blood mixed into him giving him those powers and him pretty much connect to the worm. if so this will lead the sisterhood seeing a massive use for the worms and their push to capturing one, extract the blood and convert it into the poison they use in the movies this strengthen their connection. also old stories tropes the man is pretty much a warlock/wizard whispering into the lord mind. in a way yeah if he can mentally burn someone and ward off a sisters voice power.

9:33 She knows about Shai-Hulud because she traces her lineage to the Zensunni Wanderers of Harmonthep, who were the ancestors of the Fremen. (This was alluded to in the first episode as she was dressing the princess in her gown.)
So it’s been ages since I read Dune but is it explained why technology didn’t advance? Not the robot stuff but stuff like the shields for example? I mean 10k+ years later they’re using the same tech. Even the wheel was improved on (stone, to wood, to wood and metal, to rubber) yet in the same time frame those shields are just never improved?
I dont think Lila should have access to Dorothea's death memory. Only to memories before Lila's birth. Its genetic memory. Also she doesnt look like 30 years old. I love the plot but this things bother me.
Dorthea called her 'granddaughter', and told her that her mother wasn't there. The mother probably is still alive and her character will be introduced or her identity will be revealed in the next episodes.
I see him as an early version of the Kwisatz Haderach, given his gifts by Shai-Hulud. The sisterhood as they were in this time lost power, but the Bene Gesserit eventually took over. 10,148 years later Paul drinks the Water of Life and fulfills the prophecy. In Dune 2 we learn that the Lisan al Gaib/Kwisatz Haderach has to drink the water of life and be reborn with Desert Spring tears. Well we know Chani Kynes (the daughter of Dr. Kynes) is named Desert Spring.
No, don't you see he is Herald of the God Emperor. So he is manipulating the Sisterhood to create the Kwisatz Haderach. Right now they are not trying to create worlds Super Being. But they will and he is prompting them to do so.

Also, Tula knew it was unsafe. She was obviously very reluctant. Valya is one of those people that would tell her so what? Yes I killed Doratea because she put the sisterhood at risk and defied the wishes of her own grandmother, Raquella.
Landsraat is the noble parliament of the Great Houses basically, it was mentioned in the Dune movies a couple of times.
The Lansraad is their parliament
I do believe that I want to read the book now. The show is great, either way.
Achara NoLooseEnds Kirk. I love it!
40:02 she mentioned that secrets could be at risk. And Mother said it was a risk worth taking. So they knew.
Episode 2 was excellent 8/10. The rivalry between Desmond Hart and Valya Harkonnen is going to be epic!
The empress asks "who do you serve" to show mother superior he is loyal to them.
34:06 Desmond wants to dismantle the Bene Gesserit, letting her bear witness as he tears the order down.
38:00 The wife is Queen Calanthe from The Witcher. I think we should be very afraid of her. Smart cookie. Ruthless.
36:16 I think we're assuming whomever he works for DOESN'T want the sisters around... maybe they're being manipulated too.
GREAT SECOND EPISODE!!!!
Yes, grab your Travla beers fellow Aussies and lets go Travis Flimmel fans 🍺😃.
To be fair, Leto II is not yet introduced as a character in the films. This comment might already be a spoiler.
Nah The Kwisatz cannot burn someone to a crisp with thought Desmond is a Ghola or a thinking machine
@@PresidentProductions agree
thinking machine can burn someone without touching them ?
@@PresidentProductions well, according to the original Dune lore, I agree with you. But I'm guessing HBO is going to introduce their own take on things
Thanks for the breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
most surprising thing about the reaction is that jaby watched bsg. great show, but didn't seem like his vibe. 😄
In the Dune lore, the Sorceresses of Rossak could use powers similar to Desmond. Maybe there's a connection.
good chance when the worm ate him some of the saliva or potentionally the blood mixed into him giving him those powers and him pretty much connect to the worm. if so this will lead the sisterhood seeing a massive use for the worms and their push to capturing one, extract the blood and convert it into the poison they use in the movies this strengthen their connection.
also old stories tropes the man is pretty much a warlock/wizard whispering into the lord mind. in a way yeah if he can mentally burn someone and ward off a sisters voice power.
also sci fi franchises gonna get interesting on themes in coming years. you got the bene gesserit of dune, nightsisters in star wars getting more known to media focused star wars watchers, then with live action warhammer 40k coming up ppl gonna know of the adeptus sororitas. space witches/covens all the rage now.
Sorry.. I have never read any Dune books, so please guide me here. How can some one survive that? Being eaten but still alive?
Ask the Empress to say, Witcher.......!
Don't ever cross Achara no loose end Kirk.
Well, they're worn on the hand 10,000 years later instead of being worn on the belt, there's your improvement.😅
I believe this chick 19:03 is working with Desmond. She's super sus.
Achara “No Loose Ends” Kirk
House Atreides is not great house yet
“I Don’t Like her” Girl just not being a mindless drone.. great
Who is Lilah's mother? Where is She?
You guys MUST watch the Interview with A Vampire TV Series
I need Jaby and Michael to react to it 😩
I feel like, they are still learning about taking the water, I don’t think they knew that could happen.
No more Ryan George reactions videos?
Great reaction by the greatest duo! Loved the Battlestar Galactica shoutout at the end.
6:06 - Like Obi-Wan in 'Attack of the Clones'... Easy trope
But they will and he is prompting them to do so.
reminds me of underworld. history in the blood. or as marcus said, the journey to the truth is so much sweeter. chomp!
34:20 -- That's my mindset. I was wondering why he didn't kill her?
R u guys aware that a new trailer for secret level dropped a week and a bit ago? Trailer is so damn good for me a bit emotional. Pls check it out if you can
I’ve never been this early 😭🫶🏽
I feel I see your discussion at the end of this episode on why would you keep a man with his power around and you would get rid of him straight way. Is literally playing in American politics right now.😂😂😂😂
And both sized of the political party’s are both saying the same thing about the opposition.🤷🏻♂️
I think she was an ancestress to Lila through a son or her mother is still alive.
Achara wants to die the main female character in the second episode of the series..😃
Did you stop reaction on k-drama sweet home plz tell me if u will react on it or not we are waiting from 10 months plz react on it 😢😢
see face dancers and ixian eyes, from Dune Messiah book
Achara: HBO likes making shows about shitty people
Me: You mean people??
Does anyone realize that most of the characters in DUNE are the bad guy's...?
People please read!!!!!
this is also the case for GOT lol
@chasx7062
So also LOTR,
Every college dorm had a copy...
Can you guys react madeas witness protection
it's so funny that they just ripped off Alicent and Larys' plot to kill the Strongs from HOTD s1 to fit Desmond Hart and the Emperor
That’s so weird that you said that. My mind went to that last night as I watched this episode and that scene. Lol
react to the odd life of timothy green
Can y’all react to players club pls

Please react to the trailer for The Prosecutor, Donnie Yen's new film
Where is Harry Potter reaction?

Prince of Persia Sands of Time
The dude is a gola(Spoiler) I think.
Yea or a Face Dancer Ixian Technology or outright a Thinking Machine Cyborg
Ghola or face dancer with some awesome tech from Ix, the face dancers have that weird whisper language which can also be heard in the premonitions. But the blue pointy eyes remind me of the thinking machines, those strange mechanical voice sounds are in the premonitions too. I would be a bit upset if it was some sort of mystical spice stuff instead of those two factions. The Bene Tleilax always wanted to eradicate the sisterhood, the guild and the mentats or other factions at this point in time never really cared that much about the sisterhood.
REACT TO SOUL FOOD
Plz react on sweet home 😢😢
It clear Jaby, that he is manipulating the Sisterhood so that they would eventually bring about the Kwisatz Haderach.
Suk Doctor came back
Let’s get it
Such a boring Show...
Actually Rachella and lilia is from the atreadis line rachella hide it from everyone its in the books
I think Desmond will found the Sardaukar
I would say that the Sardaukar should have already been around, but I think the show already tweaked some of the lore and rules of the universe, so you may be right
@@TriumvirSajaki Remember the show takes place only around 100 years after the machine war. House Corrino has enjoyed high dominance during that time as they emerged from the war less damaged than the other houses. But their power is weakening as the other great houses rebuild, I mean he literally needed house Rechesee's ships and troops just to maintain order on Arrakis, that shows how deminished he is. I think the Emperor is seeing that he needs an elite force to reestablish his dominance.
@@TriumvirSajaki I've been trying to find a source with the founding date. Do you know where it is quoted?
@@MrNathansdad I just gave a fandom Wikia link above. The Sardaukar were more of a tribe that preceded the machine war
The landsraad is basically the royal court. The royal family and all the great houses
