I know right unless if Emma is Emily aka Andy mom and she was Carl ex lover but the age and time and place tho........ Hello must answer this for me plz
+SuperCarlinBrothers True. I have actually been wondering who Emma Jean was since I watched your postcard video a little while back. Okay, a *lot* while back because I can't remember what it was called. Haha. Just a little sidenote: this video was uploaded on my mom's birthday.
Gotta love that explanation of Emma Jean he pulled from nowhere xD. But I do like the idea of having Carl having more than one love interest; it makes his story with Ellie a lot more realistic and sweet at the same time. However, this explanation blows a hole though my theory about Emma Jean that I wrote in the towel section of "Create Your Own Pixar Theory" where I deduced that Emma Jean could be Ellie's sister and Emily's mother. The first part of that doesn't hold now, but I still think the second part still does and explains why Andy has a postcard from her. If Ellie and Emma Jean were close enough friends, then it is totally possible that Emily would have been introduced to Ellie at some point. Even if they didn't become like family, it would makes sense that Andy would have a postcard with his grandmother's name on it, even if he wasn't related to the people to whom it was addressed.
It might be on andy's wall because Carl and Emma had a kid ( andy's mom ) since he and Emily couldn't so when they died since Carl is andy's grandfather he would keep that on his wall as a little memory of them look at the comment above this one I got the idea from that comment
Okay, but why does Andy just casually have a letter from a mistress/best friend to a random couple pinned on his wall? Next time on SuperCarlinBrothers: Is Andy a crazy homicidal stalker long-lost cousin of Doug the dog?
This still doesn't explain why Andy has the letter in his room. How did he get it? If it was meant for Ellie, and sent from Emma Jean, how did Andy end up with the the letter
I kinda feel like Pete Doctor just made that up when asked.. One, because he had to ask which movies the postcard showed up in but then immediately knew the story behind it. And two, because we see Ellie and Carl as kids and get a pretty good grasp on their young personalities. He's absolutely fascinated by her and she's sort of clung on to him. She's very eccentric and demanding, not seeming to be the type who would let Carl date someone else. Then again, with this personality type she could have been angry about it but of course couldn't stop him, so when Emma and Carl's relationship would have ended, Ellie would have taken the first opportunity to grasp onto him again. But, as we can see from Carl's personality he's very shy and quiet and pretty much lets Ellie drag him around and express herself. For the entire scene that we watch them grow older, he is like this. As an old man, he's stubborn and grouchy, but that's just from grief and frustration, but he easily becomes himself again after meeting the kid whose name I forgot for some reason. I just find it hard to believe that he would have strayed from his personality at a younger age enough to leave Ellie for another girl, and I definitely don't think he'd be prepared to break the promise he made to her as a kid that he otherwise stived to uphold for the rest of his life just to date another girl. Idk, it's just my opinion. The filmmakers know better than us, but to me, it sounded like Pete just improvised an explanation.
I kinda make Ellie sound like she's controlling over Carl, which I didn't mean. I say "grasp onto him" because some people find one person they connect with, or are just the only person who pays attention to them and in that creates the attachment. Ellie comes off as latching herself onto Carl, as in she connected with him for whichever reasons, and wouldn't give that attachment up without a fight. Not literal fight, but like begging him to stay, boom box at his window, or just lots of cats, Haagen-Dazs, and passive aggressiveness. I'm going to assume that those are her stages of grief because it sounds adorable. Sad, but adorable.
ExactlyOneGrape I don't think Carl "left" Ellie for Emma. they could've simply been good friends since childhood, he dated Emma, then realized he's always loved Ellie. maybe that's how El and Em could've became friends; no cheating or dumping, just 2 kids who've always been in love down deep, and a nice girl (Emma) who understood.
Oh man! I just realized. Pete Doctor didn't seem to have an answer for the question about Emma Jean, but when he asked the movie reference, he seemed to have a straight, thorough answer. I think Pete Doctor had already had the idea of Carl dating someone else before Ellie in mind, but only when asked about Emma Jean in particular did he decide on who it was. He was just piecing together the puzzle that he didn't know he had, but actually worked.
What if Emma Jean is Ellie's sister? It would explain why there was tension and jealousy, and why they were able to get over it and become good friends again (close enough to go to the mall with and send postcards to). Eventually Emma married, and gave birth to one of Andy's and Riley's parents. This would be why Ellie's picture is framed in Riley's house, and why Andy was given the postcard by Carl and Ellie: a reminder that old wounds do heal, and that there is hope that he will see his father again.
Lia Nicole Ya. Thats a good point Although i didn't like the part where you copied that basically word for word from someone elses video. Not cool man.
hejmeli ummm I'm sorry I'm confused. What similarities do you find in my comment that you found in that video? Please tell me, because I do not find any.
pro gamer it took 4 months for your comment about a reply about a reply about replying to a persons comment talking about replying to someone’s comment to get a comment
yeah like how they made up tarzan being anna and elsa's brother. that wouldn't make any sense either because Tarzan takes place on the opposite side of africa of where he and his parents washed up
You mean Pixar characters, you can't relate Peter Pan to Snow White, and the Tarzan theory isn't true, they said that if fans found it interesting then it was ok for them, but they never confirmed it. Also that theory doesn't make sense at all
So, If this is true and not a prank, then Emma Jean is MOST LIKELY Andy's grandma. And, for the people who suggest that they have different last names, you have to realize that if Emma Jean got married and had a daughter, and her daughter got married, than 1) Emma might not have the same last name anymore, and 2) even if she did, the daughter would have (possibly) changed her last name. So if Emily is Andy's mom and she got married (because she wouldn't necessarily need to get married to have a kid), then Andy would not have the same as Emma Jean. And, if this is the case, then maybe Emily and Andy were very close to Carl and Ellie, before Ellie died. And, maybe Emma had passed away, before Ellie, so Carl and Ellie gave Andy the postcard. I mean, it would make sense. Though, I can't say for sure that this is what happened, this is just my theory.
You've got to suggest Emily (Andy's mom) is also involved in the is Riley from Inside out adopted challenge which makes a lot more sense to me but we all have different opinions but still yours does make sense :)
I'm aware this is 7 years late (nothing by Pixar's standards), but have you ever released the rest of that interview? You teased that there was more at the very end of this video, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I found a few clips from screen rant that appear to take place in the same space but they're also just a few minutes long and are exclusively about inside out and not really Pixar at large. I'd love to see how Pete reacted to any other questions you had regarding theories about the films he's worked on.
Yeah I thought that too because in the movies of Toy story Andy's dad never appeared and I have always been wondering why. Maybe after Andy was born that was when Carl got married with Ellie and Carl and Emma got divorced.
She could be Andy's grandmother. She maybe get the postcard after Carl's dead and Andy keep it because it was something that was importan to his grandmother that probably also died
hm... it doesn't really, but I can see it when pronouncing it just right. (and there's probably not many closer names. Jin would be closer for the last part, but I can't think of anything for the first, and the name Jin doesn't make a good hyphenated name with Emma)
Also, am I the only original comment? I found one comment other than mine that wasn't "HE MADE THAT UP ON THE SPOT!" or "HOW DOES ANDY HAVE THE POSTCARD?!" The other comment was hilarious though. Scroll around to find it.
The only logical explanation as to why the post card is in your story is if Emily is Andy's grandma, who is dead. It makes sense because it's a plausible explanation as to why Andy would have it. His family friends and grandma died so he has the postcard
Sinai 101 maybe Andy was adopted and Emily was his real mother and they keep in contact with each other. I love the idea of Emily being Andy's mom. We should tell the brothers this. They may seem interested.
You meant Emma right? Emma is Andy’s grandma? Because Emily is the first owner of Jesse and possibly Andy’s mom but honestly at this point that’s basically fact among the fans. But yeah it would make sense that Emma Jean was actually Andy’s grandma and that’s why Andy has the postcard. I think Emma didn’t send the postcard before she died and then Andy found it amongst her old stuff that his mom had inherited and he put the postcard in his room so that he’d remember to send it to Carl and Ellie, which he does after the events of toy story three and it arrives to Carl and Ellie before the events of Up.
My theory is Emma Jean is Andy’s grandma and Emily is Andy’s mom. Emily was born in the late 50s and if we consider Carl was born in late 20s, Emma Jean may is around the same age as Carl. This makes her around 30 when Emily was born.
so... i see the comments... and they say that pete docter made up the story [for suspense] and ask how andy got the letter... and they tie together. pete said nothing about how andy even got that post card, and brings in suspicions doesn't it? now it is possible that that story pete made could be true, but keep theorizing people. there could be a more tie-together answer.
this other dude called theorizer? i think explains it. kind of. like andy's parents had a terrible divorce, and it was confirmed (by the director) that emma jean was carl's ex, and that they remained close friends after their break up, so it was a theory that carl gave andy that to reassure him that his parents would be friends again, which it why he pins it up as something valuable. IDK watch the vid
haha...glad I'm not the only one who's mind went straight to that...and THEN seeing it written out after spending the first half of this theory telling myself to ignore the song... HAHA...I'm glad you wrote it out, though...ESPECIALLY since she WAS his lover...maybe she's also a woman who Carl DID have a kid with...which would make it even harder on his wife when she can't gave a baby...I've only seen UP once, though that may change very soon, haha... REALLY, though...and how do we know if the boy scout? kid isn't actually related to Carl? I was thinking Carl was his dad, but that would be wrong on the timeline of his age (and make Carl a bit of a jerk and not follow with staying in touch with Emma Jean, which WOULD make sense if they had a kid together to have stayed in touch and the women become friends)...the kid COULD be Carl's grandkid though? I was thinking I'm not "up" on Pixar theory enough, or up on Up (lol) so if THAT concept had any weight I figured it would have been thought up, and likely has... BUT, if Emma Jean was the grandmother of the kid, this would have been the first we knew about her relation to Carl, so we couldn't have thought of a reasonable theory of HER as the female who potentially produced offspring with Carl to lead to boy scout as the grandkid of Carl?!? ...CLEARLY needs more thought, and I still am going to comb through other comments to see if that was thought of, since I can't imagine it hasn't been...but too cool! ...maybe next time I'll stop shushing my subconscious for seemingly arbitrary song references! Though I have safety dance playing through my head at the moment, and I think that it's just because I'm pretty darn random, haha...but random works! :-D

+Calah McCombs Thatès what I was thinking! Maybe he was telling the truth but for all we know he could have just said something just so he could answer the question lol XDD
+Bunny Clause It could've been from Emily. We don't know how long Jesse was abandoned for, but we DO know that Woody is from a really, REALLY old line of toys, so Emily could be old enough to be Andy's grandmother? It'd help make sense of why Emma Jean has a different last name, as Andy's mother likely took his father's last name, Davis. AKA: Emma Jean is Andy's Grandmother, who is Emily.
+Dominique Thomas that actually sounds real.. but still, why would he have a postcard that his (maybe) grandmother sent to her old lover and best friend... wtf pixar
i like how that guy made up that fake back story about the postcard on the spot i give him major props for being that creative on the spot bravo my fine sir
it seems like the postcard was insignificant but he didn't want to disappoint/enrage a pixar theorist, so he just made it up. Carl having another girlfriend really doesn't add up at all.
When he's being asked he moves his eyebrows a lot. That means he knows the plot. Also, he answer TOO DAMN QUICK. I¡m completely sure he knows what he is talking about.
Really? It sounded like he knew what was going on (the eyebrow movement), idk it seemslike he was like oh oops i have to expose the secret now. i doubt he would make it up like that, he probably asked which movies to try and cover it up, but then just explinained something at the end
I know I'm probably ruining this for others but the director looks like he made up the story on the spot to give up and toy story a little more interesting... Sorry guys, they do that sometimes...
I think Andy has it because on one of his theory's he says that Emily is andy's mom, so Emily (Emma) was Carl's girlfriend.CARL WAS DATING ANDY'S MOM!! ( maybe I'm not sure)
It’s cute how the director knew he could’ve just shrugged at the question and said ‚why does it matter?‘ But he knew it was important to some fans and made something up to satisfy those people. Like when you got a balloon artist at a kids party and you ask them for something ridiculously hard and they still try it anyway.
I have a theory. The Spongebob characters represent the Seven Deadly Sins. Mr Krabs, who is always trying to get extra money, is greed. Patrick, who is always trying to eat, is Gluttony, and sloth because he clearly likes eating and drinking a lot. Squidward, who is always pissed at, pretty much everything is wrath. Plankton, who is always wishing people would come to his restaurant, The Chum Bucket, is envy. Sandy, who is always showing off her inventions and karate skills is pride. And finally, spongebob, always trying to be friends with squidward, is lust.
+Jane Doe lust is just a longing for something. although it is commonly associated with love and intimacy, that is not the true meaning. spongebob's lust would be for happiness.
First time watching and at 0:56 I believe that Ellie had actually gave birth the a baby but the doctor lied about it and kept her for her self and that baby is Emma Jeans that’s what I am getting right now
It's obvious that Andy's mom was the side chick of Carl and Andy was the product of the affair. The scene where everyone thinks that Ellie can't have a baby is really a Maury show set and he was telling Ellie that she is NOT the mother of Andy. Ellie was jealous and would forgive Carl if he doesn't get involved in their life anymore other than paying them child support, because what single parent can afford a two story house. Then after she hears that Ellie died, she sent a postcard mocking them and how she wishes they were here to see how happy they were. However, the letter was returned to the sender because the house flew away. So Andy's mom gave the letter to Andy to teach him that if he is going to have hoes in his life, he better take care of them or they'll suck half your income.
Yeah I'm just gonna ignore. The movie is just much more adorable if you imagine the two standing together side by side, from the start to the very end. Nowhere in the movie did they indicate otherwise.
OK Emily from toy story is Emma Jean so that means Carl and Emily dated that's why Andy and his mom moved in toy story because she wanted to get away from Carl because he had just left her for Ellie so when they broke up Carl sent the postcard back then Andy's mom gave it to Andy. That is also why we don't see Andy's dad because it is Carl
+Shelby Thomas Really? Was that really it? Cause I have been going through the comments trying to find comments that would clear it up as I am very much confused.
+Shelby Thomas, Messed up chronology there. The postcard was sent after Carl and Ellie get together since it's addressed to Carl and Ellie. And they had said that Emma Jean becomes a close friend after their relationship ended, so she wouldn't move away to get away.
this is just a shot in the dark, but Emma Jean might be Andy's grandmother. she might have passed away and this postcard might be the only thing Andy have to remember her.
Well they show them interacting but it never said at that point on they were dating. Any romantic relationship that Ellie and Carl had wasn't revealed into they actually got married before that they're relationship was ambiguous.
as friends. they probably dated around with other people, then realized that they developed feelings for each other over time, and ended up together. and Emma jean was the last gf carl had before he finally got romantically involved with Ellie
nobody can last from 8 to adult age they probably were friends from when they were kids and than stayed friends but dated other people and finally dated and got married
Here is a theory. Carl and Ellie are married, but Carl and Emma Jean had a kid. One of Andy's parents. Emma gives Andy (her grandson) the letter to give to his grandfather and step grandmother. Andy gives the letter, but then Ellie dies a while after. To keep her forever in his heart, he makes a copy and puts it on his wall
But, wait. Why did Andy have the postcard then if it was for Carl's former love interest? Is Emma Jeane Andy's mom but with his father's last name? Is EJ related to Andy or his mom? This makes no sense in Toy Story 3!!
Saltychu The name Jean could only be the maiden name for Andy's mom. So she was born Emma Jean but later married and became Emma Jean Davies (i think that's the surname)
what if Carl is Andys grandfather and Emma Jean is his grandmother but Ellie was never to find out? that would explain Andy having the post card unless it has something to do with his father. Unless both Up & Toy Story 3 tie in with Inside out since Riley has Carl & Ellie in her memories.
The director 100% just made that up on the spot.
yeah I agree
i agree too
he also asked where the postcard was, he probably forgot all about it and just said the first thing that would've made sense
I know!
entirely. he did not have any idea what was being asked of him and made something up on the spot.
Is nobody going to mention that Emma Jean sounds just like imagine?
Wolfplays omg
:O it's true
but how does that tie in? SO MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Wolfplays IMAGINE DRAGONS OMG
But that doesn't explain how Andy got the postcard??
Or maybe due to age Emma Jean is Andy's Grandmother.
Kaylynn Langi RIGHT what's Carl's past love interest have to do with Andy
May be Carl is Andy’s mom’s dad and Emma jean is her mom.
@@heavynforney4574 they can't have kids
he got it because it's an easter egg ,it's not important in the slightest andy actually doesn't know carl or emma storyline wise,OBVIOUSLY. you all take things to seriously.
*end of video*
Me: but why and how does Andy have the postcard?
Yeah,i thimk that PD just made it up
Dude I be thinking the exact same thing
Ya same
Ya true
Same mate
lol it feels like Pete Doctor made that up when he was asked the question lol
Vinny L yeah ikr
But then...why is it in Toy Story?😑😑
Vinny L he totally was
East Wind I know I was wondering that too
For real. 💀💀
Am I the only one that thinks that Pete Doctor had nothing to do with the postcard and just made up an answer on the spot for fun.
James Kimball haha I think so too! He definitely made that up on the spot but props to him for thinking on his toes so quickly.
That's what I immediately thought. 😬
thats what i thought
He definitely did because he had to ask where it was
Especially when he asked "Wait what movie was it in... Oh ok yeah that was Carl's ex" ... Hes a bad liar
Jay: "So what's the deal with the postcard?"
Pete: *Thinking frantically* "Postcard? Oh, oh yeah, the postcard..." *Makes something up on the spot*
Jay: " *Pixar Lore everybody!* "
Pete doctor acts coy, you can see he has such a poker face. if he were to react. he would thus verify the lore is true thus he has to resist the urge. but he does release the known back story, as he does want what he knows, to be known.
looks like he doesn't remember the postcard (especially the easter egg in TS3), but does remember the name Emma Jean.
I think Pete Doctor made it up on the spot
It kinda sounded like that yeah. He wasn’t even sure where it came from and was just like “hmmmmmm uh, Emma Jean was Karl’s girlfriend...”
but it's still canon!
Peace It 27 I completely agree it seemed a little.... random
Yeah.
But who really cares about that? It's automatically cannon, because the director said it.
He’s a robot
Pete doctor must be sitting in a dark room, rubbing his hands and smiling evilly as he thinks: "I can say anything and the fans will believe it. We're one step closer to ruling the world muahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHA"
New theory!
+AnimeGrrl03 I know right. Pete Doctor asked where the postcard was😂😂 I think that he thought of that on the spot🙊
+The Evolved Geek Nice Bird Mom pic.
Thanks!😉
+NoNo Durkin I got that impression, too. It was the first thing I thought of when he said it. It seemed like he had no clue what the interviewer was talking about and he knew he wouldn't get away without giving an answer.
Emma Jean ain't my lover.
She's just a girl who gave me a-a postcard.
Yas.
But the address was not my own! Hee hee he!
Haha😂😂😂
* vigorous grunting *
that was pinned
to a wall
in a room
I have a feeling PD just made that up on the spot 😂
Ikr 😂
I have a feeling ur right😏
Yeah
+Kerry Peterson I'm sure he did, but it's canon now :P
But what does this mean about the post card being in Andy's room?
Ya he didn't even remember it
I feel like Pete just made up that whole “other lover” thing. He was genuinely confused at first...
"Wait a minute where is this?"
He clearly has no idea what he's talking about & made that answer up on the spot
3:43 did you just make that up? It sounds like you just made that up.
I thought the same thing!!
Ikr!
ikr!!
ikr👽
When you're assigned an oral report and never read the book...
It seemed like he just made that up on the spot...He didn't even know what movies it was in. It was probably something the animators just threw in to "honor" him because his initials and hometown are on it.
+Dan Morhaim i DOUT IT YOU LITTLE
+Dan Morhaim yeah still don't understand how andy got it
+Dan Morhaim Someone said it.....
+Dan Morhaim I was thinking tht too, but thinking it over again, maybe he asked because he didnt want to accidently give something else away :3 think nice thoughts~
THANK YOU
The director didn’t even know what movies the postcards were in! Just a little suspicious.
doesn't answer why the postcard is in toy story
right!?!?!?
I know right unless if Emma is Emily aka Andy mom and she was Carl ex lover but the age and time and place tho........ Hello must answer this for me plz
Ikr!! It makes no sense
+TheGirlx333 tell me about he explained everything except the Andy part
maybe emma jean is andy's grandma
how much will you bet that Pete Doctor came up with his story on the spot
Haha he could have, that guy was dripping creativity, but either way he said it and now it's real!
+SuperCarlinBrothers True. I have actually been wondering who Emma Jean was since I watched your postcard video a little while back.
Okay, a *lot* while back because I can't remember what it was called. Haha.
Just a little sidenote: this video was uploaded on my mom's birthday.
+Tatsuki Vermilion Happy belated birthday to your mom! 😄
She says thanks!
that's what I thought haha
Gotta love that explanation of Emma Jean he pulled from nowhere xD. But I do like the idea of having Carl having more than one love interest; it makes his story with Ellie a lot more realistic and sweet at the same time.

Totally agree!
+SuperCarlinBrothers But how does this explain why Andy has it tacked up on his wall?
+Matthew Mikell It doesn't
+SuperCarlinBrothers Why is it on Andy's wall
It might be on andy's wall because Carl and Emma had a kid ( andy's mom ) since he and Emily couldn't so when they died since Carl is andy's grandfather he would keep that on his wall as a little memory of them look at the comment above this one I got the idea from that comment
This still doesn't answer how Andy got the post card. Unless you said something and I missed it, which is likely.
Nope he never
2:04, +Andy mom theory
You didn't say why it's in Andy's board???
I know right??
I know right??
+HarlequinSmufette So wierd
+HarlequinSmufette So wierd
I'm so confused as well is he just going to gloss over that like that doesn't happen??
Sounds like he just made it up on the spot, and it doesn't explain at all why it's in Andy's room...
EXACTLY!
lol, that's what I thought, too! 😉😂
U read my mind!
He said that he didn't know in the video
SAME I WAS THINKIMG THAT!
But why is it on Andy's bulletin board??
+Muqaddas Azam Why indeed..
+SuperCarlinBrothers or is Emma Andy mom
+SuperCarlinBrothers ikr?
+SuperCarlinBrothers could Emma Jean still be Andy's mom? That could explain it
and Carl is his dad
Okay, but why does Andy just casually have a letter from a mistress/best friend to a random couple pinned on his wall?
Next time on SuperCarlinBrothers:
Is Andy a crazy homicidal stalker long-lost cousin of Doug the dog?
Yes
This still doesn't explain why Andy has the letter in his room. How did he get it? If it was meant for Ellie, and sent from Emma Jean, how did Andy end up with the the letter
yeah
I was thinking do we know Andy's moms name? Maybe his mom is Emma Jean
That's what I was wondering....... This isn't over
+Brianna Molino since shes young enough to be carls daughter that would be weird
It could easily be that Carl and Ellie were younger.
But why did Andy have the postcard... 🤔
emma is andys mkm
But what about the age difference? Surely his grandmother would be more likely.
The movies might not be happening concurrently.
Emma Jean is Andy's grandmother?
+Joel Sasmad damn that changes everything
Sad, but adorable.
yeah it seemed improvised to me I'm pretty sure it's just Pete's ex's name that he put in there.. idk lol
His name is Russel(the boy from up)
I felt the same way , glad I wasn't the only one who noticed.
Just about to sing along to the intro..... Wait it's an old video
Enter my depression 😂
LittleJem 95 same 😂
Hey brother!
+RIGGY WALLCARD Uh, Riggy, I can't help but notice that you have posts all over this page. I think you said what you needed to say bye now.
+RIGGY WALLCARD Yea, I absolutely agree, I guess I should sign out for now. Thanks for the advice Riggy.
+RIGGY WALLCARD By the way, did you know that you are talking to yourself?
+RIGGY WALLCARD Nope, not at all.
#Idiot
Pete Doctor very clearly made that all up on the spot
True
I was thinking the same thing!
Yeah I noticed that too, gotta give him credit for quick thinking though
100%
IKR! He didn't even really know what Jon was talking about at first.. Oh well
What if Emma Jean is Ellie's sister? It would explain why there was tension and jealousy, and why they were able to get over it and become good friends again (close enough to go to the mall with and send postcards to). Eventually Emma married, and gave birth to one of Andy's and Riley's parents. This would be why Ellie's picture is framed in Riley's house, and why Andy was given the postcard by Carl and Ellie: a reminder that old wounds do heal, and that there is hope that he will see his father again.
Lia Nicole Ya. Thats a good point Although i didn't like the part where you copied that basically word for word from someone elses video. Not cool man.
You Stoke it from "The Theorizer" here on UA-cam btw (Search Pixar Family Tree and the video this person copied from is one of the top results)
hejmeli ummm I'm sorry I'm confused. What similarities do you find in my comment that you found in that video? Please tell me, because I do not find any.
But Andy's father died
You guys are completely insane. But I can't stop watching.

Completely ignores why Andy had the postcard.
Yeah its driving me crazy
+Analise lol he may have made another video on it since this one is a year old
Viperbolt11HD i hope😬
+Analise probably not tho
I wish
You still didn't explain why Andy had the card..
EXACTLY, I want to know, too!!!
+Dale Moon / you think its true about all this??
Helen Hodges It could be but it's mainly speculation
★ ok I think
I think it might be from the same time line it cuold be like that rite?????
Does Riley have a monster?
People believe Bing Bong is her monster
+BSBPOTTERLINSIM Did you watch the last second of the video?
+Flashee yeah. But I think Bing Bong could be
+Flashee last second of the video witch one
+Troy Reaves why would you ask me that?
My name is Emma Jean
and when I saw this I freaked out 🤯
KindaDead Feeling mine too!!!
I feel like Pete just made that up on the spot lol
yeah like how they made up tarzan being anna and elsa's brother. that wouldn't make any sense either because Tarzan takes place on the opposite side of africa of where he and his parents washed up
definitely. nothing adds up, i mean if i were pete i would too! i would rather tell him something than say "I don't man, use your imagination."
+fjdi hdshus that was told that its true. The creators said it was true. Every one of the Disney characters are related somehow
You mean Pixar characters, you can't relate Peter Pan to Snow White, and the Tarzan theory isn't true, they said that if fans found it interesting then it was ok for them, but they never confirmed it. Also that theory doesn't make sense at all
Thanks for taking exactly what I said
I feel like PD just made that up on the spot
lol yeah. that's how that felt
right?
I know!
me too :o
I know!!
Create an update vid for this explaining how Toy Story fits in
Watch the Pixar theory
I know right how does Andy have the post card???
+Alexa Varela Maybe Ema is emily and carl is andy's dad!
+Ktaa did you even watch up? or this video? carl didnt have a kid
what happend if he didn't knew about him because emily didn't wanted to make ellie and carl broke up
What was the postcard doing on Andy's bulletin board?
anyone else find the director's answer unconvincing?
YANA me
Noni Park to me, he made that up on the spot.
+Clark Chrisman yes!! this makes sense!!
That's one of the better explanations I've read on this comment chain :)
Plus, "Emma Jean" isn't a full name. Just like "Norma Jean" isn't a full name.
+Clark Chrisman emma jean is a first name not first + last
You've got to suggest Emily (Andy's mom) is also involved in the is Riley from Inside out adopted challenge which makes a lot more sense to me but we all have different opinions but still yours does make sense :)
WHAT IF... Carl actually had a child with Emma Jean...
*GASP*
😱😱😱😱😱
Emma Jean + Carl=Emily.
Emily +? =Andy
Carl= Andy's grandfather
+Monkeymax11 oh my god yesssss that seems so real
+Monkeymax11 OMG MABYE
I'm aware this is 7 years late (nothing by Pixar's standards), but have you ever released the rest of that interview? You teased that there was more at the very end of this video, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I found a few clips from screen rant that appear to take place in the same space but they're also just a few minutes long and are exclusively about inside out and not really Pixar at large. I'd love to see how Pete reacted to any other questions you had regarding theories about the films he's worked on.
I suppose I am seven years and a month late
Yeap! I'm imaginago =D
up
up :D

Up
Up!
maybe andys mom is Emma and Carl's daughter from the love affair after Carl found out ellie couldn't have kids
That's what I was thinking.
+Kate J. I LOVE YOUR PICTURE SOOOOO MUCH!!!!
Yeah but why give it to andy
Makes sense since we never see andys father
Yeah I thought that too because in the movies of Toy story Andy's dad never appeared and I have always been wondering why. Maybe after Andy was born that was when Carl got married with Ellie and Carl and Emma got divorced.
But why does Andy have a post card from Emma Jean in Toy Story 3?
Ashley Taylor exactlyyyyy
Maybe that Andy from toy story is member of of his mom's family and decide to give Andy the postcard
"He made it up on the spot!" Still canon
this still does not explain why andy has the postcard?
David Cheese lol that's what I was thinking 😅
I literally just left the same comment!
She could be Andy's grandmother. She maybe get the postcard after Carl's dead and Andy keep it because it was something that was importan to his grandmother that probably also died
Maybe Ellie received the postcard and wanted to give the information to Emily because she thought she would want to know it.
David Cheese myeby he stole it
Emma Jean sounds like imagine. I think that may be worth noting.
Whoa... Potential future name for a pet.
hm... it doesn't really, but I can see it when pronouncing it just right. (and there's probably not many closer names. Jin would be closer for the last part, but I can't think of anything for the first, and the name Jin doesn't make a good hyphenated name with Emma)
+Asj Johnson I don't know anyone with the last name Jin. I don't know if it's a real last name. It also seems to obvious and not subtle enough.
I know a guy name KIm Seokjin ;)
Also, am I the only original comment? I found one comment other than mine that wasn't "HE MADE THAT UP ON THE SPOT!" or "HOW DOES ANDY HAVE THE POSTCARD?!" The other comment was hilarious though. Scroll around to find it.
The only logical explanation as to why the post card is in your story is if Emily is Andy's grandma, who is dead. It makes sense because it's a plausible explanation as to why Andy would have it. His family friends and grandma died so he has the postcard
Noah W Emily is Andy’s mom
Sinai 101 maybe Andy was adopted and Emily was his real mother and they keep in contact with each other. I love the idea of Emily being Andy's mom. We should tell the brothers this. They may seem interested.
Sinai 101 Emily isn’t Andy’s mom there was a book released by Pixar that gave Andy’s mom the name Emily Davis
WHY WAS IT ON ANDY'S BOARD?????????????
Lucia Rose It just seems that guy came up with this on the spot when J asked him.
lol emma jean has me shook
Lucia Rose Emma Jean is Andy's grandmother
Guillermo Peña look in the description
it's obvious lol.
um.... we never found out what it was doing in Andy's room.
Yes it never mentioned the connection of Emma Jean in the toy story 3 movie....
Mabel Mac cupcake look in the description
Bella_Paws _506 yeah, sorry about that I didn't notice thanks for mentioning it
Mabel Mac cupcake No prob I was about to comment the exact same thing as you but then read the description first😂
this other dude called theorizer? i think explains it. kind of. like andy's parents had a terrible divorce, and it was confirmed (by the director) that emma jean was carl's ex, and that they remained close friends after their break up, so it was a theory that carl gave andy that to reassure him that his parents would be friends again, which it why he pins it up as something valuable. IDK watch the vid
I'm pretty sure he just made that up on the spot :D
Agreed... He clearly didn't even remember and it doesn't explain why Andy had the postcard
Yeah...
Everybody: Pixar has the most unexplained Easter eggs and plot holes

Emma Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
Lol
omg😂😂
LOL 😆😆
haha...glad I'm not the only one who's mind went straight to that...and THEN seeing it written out after spending the first half of this theory telling myself to ignore the song...

bobafett rocks15 Micheal jackson
bobafett rocks15 sure #sarcasm
I liked the sister theory better. It also sounded like the director made this stuff up on the spot.
Well, what the director says is true! :D
+Calah McCombs Thatès what I was thinking! Maybe he was telling the truth but for all we know he could have just said something just so he could answer the question lol XDD
+Calah McCombs I think this is trye
Same!
IKR!!!😂
Theory
Emma jean and carl had a kid andthen they were divorced and the kid is andy and his mom is emma
but carl wouldn´ve needed to have andy at like 55+ for that to work
Hmmm or Carl is Andy's grandpa. That will make more sense 🤔
but still what is the post card doing in andy room
+Bunny Clause It could've been from Emily. We don't know how long Jesse was abandoned for, but we DO know that Woody is from a really, REALLY old line of toys, so Emily could be old enough to be Andy's grandmother? It'd help make sense of why Emma Jean has a different last name, as Andy's mother likely took his father's last name, Davis.
AKA: Emma Jean is Andy's Grandmother, who is Emily.
My very first thought when Pete started talking! lol
I'm thinking it was just a meaningless Easter egg
that is a good therory
+Demidaya Luv do you even watch this channel no Easter egg is meaning less
But Why Andy had that letter in his room?
In another universe, Andy killed them and kept the postcard! Just kidding! Besides, that would make no sense. Ha!
Della Zander
it can be that Andy is Emma Jean Grandson and has the letter as memento!!!
+Della Zander that's just cold but I still laughed 😂
It might sound stupid but could Andes mom be Emma Jean? Just a theory not a game one
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO THOUGHT HE MADE THIS UP ON THE SPOT! THANK YOU FOR YOUR VALIDATION!
Rite guy jus pulling stories out of his ass on the spot😂💀💀
😂lol
Yaaaaaaaaaaaas, SOMEONE SAID IT FOR ME!!!!!!!
Me who’s name is Emma and middle name is Jean: 👀
NO WAY. Ellie was the only one for Carl, ever....he just made that up on the spot. Childhood sweethearts!
Unless in highschool they drifted away from each other, and then Carl met Emma, and once Carl and Emma broke up Ellie and Emma bonded......
I'm pretty sure the director lied. Seems like he made it up on the spot.
Sophia Rahim yeah. At first he was like "from what movies?" So he could make a connection but who knows?
it seems like the postcard was insignificant but he didn't want to disappoint/enrage a pixar theorist, so he just made it up.
Hello Pumpkin .
What if the girl in the beginning was actually Emma Jean???(mind blowing)
No, she's Andy's mum
Andrea Barrios but he literally just got a real answer from the director... there’s no need to speculate 🤔
okay when Emily was 18(ish) Carl would have been like 35, so I'm quite certain it's not her.
beginning of what?
It’s a girl name Emily and I think that it’s. Andy’s mom
Watches video
Me: oh ok.
Also me:(ReEeEeEe)
what i dont understand is the fact the andy got the postcard???!!!!!.......
The other mystery about this is that Carl would have had to mail it to Andy before he went on his trip, because the house burned down
+Awesome Mine Nastics I like that, alot
head canon accepted
+Awesome Mine Nastics But, andy is white, not mixed race. (regarding the fact that russle is Asian )
Shhhhhhhhhh
I know I'm probably ruining this for others but the director looks like he made up the story on the spot to give up and toy story a little more interesting... Sorry guys, they do that sometimes...
Okay I thought it was just me. He couldn't even remember what movies they were in. He looks like he just made up on the spot. It's so obvious.
Nope, Most people are just going with word of god, Because he said it it's now a fact.
Yeah, he obviously did but since he's the director they'll take it as cannon.
That's what I was thinking
Darn
AGAIN why does Andy have the letter??
IK
he says he doesn't know
+Cynthia Hart that's called bullshit
I think Andy has it because on one of his theory's he says that Emily is andy's mom, so Emily (Emma) was Carl's girlfriend.CARL WAS DATING ANDY'S MOM!! ( maybe I'm not sure)
+maciar avila maybe it was his grandma or aunt
It’s cute how the director knew he could’ve just shrugged at the question and said ‚why does it matter?‘ But he knew it was important to some fans and made something up to satisfy those people. Like when you got a balloon artist at a kids party and you ask them for something ridiculously hard and they still try it anyway.
WHY DOES ANDY HAVE IT!!!
He said it in the video if you were listening
+The Crazy Trish The Gamer oh whoopies
+Rachel Mudd :P
+The Crazy Trish The Gamer 😂
+The Crazy Trish The Gamer tell me
I have a theory.
Sorry, sloth because he is very lazy.
staph it the memories of the Homonculous are coming back :,(
+Lo Dog - I was right there with you until you said Spongebob was lust. He's the personification of goofball, but lust? Not hardly.
+Jane Doe lust is just a longing for something. although it is commonly associated with love and intimacy, that is not the true meaning. spongebob's lust would be for happiness.
You didn't think that on your own, lol. You read on it.
My parents had lives before I was born?!?!?! (Just kidding.)
+bun bacheso I thought my parents just popped into existence when I was born
+Hengamer101 that's what every baby thought
He did not have another love interest. Pretty obvious that the director made that up on the spot.
Yeah I'm just gonna ignore. The movie is just much more adorable if you imagine the two standing together side by side, from the start to the very end. Nowhere in the movie did they indicate otherwise.
Yeah it looked like he was covering somethings up...
+It's_Rose's Universe Well that is clear. But it is canon now.
+Hannah Farnsworth Even if he made it up on the spot, it's still something the creator said and went on record saying
+Hannah Farnsworth Well, until we get actual proof that that is not the case, what Pete says is true.
He soooo just made that up on the spot. Why does Andy have the postcard ?
It would have made more sense if Emma was Ellie's sister and Andy's grandma (Emily's mum)
that Is what I was thinking
Isn't that the point of an Easter Egg? No one asked why Buzz Lightyear was in a dentist office in Australia when Finding Nemo came out.
Melissa Lewis Was it buzz? Or was it just the ball... I only remember the ball BUT I could be wrong.
Yeah it was buzz. You can Google the picture.
Wait? How then did the postcard get into Andy's room? THIS MYSERY AIN'T SOLVED YET!
wait... if emma jean is carl's other love interest then why the heckity does andy have that postcard
can someone answer this please
+Mariel Jeanne Seras maybe Andy's mother is the daughter of Carl & Emma's affair. Meaning that Ellie isn't Andy's grandmother
maybe carl and emma jean are andy's grandparents
+Katya Hinojosa but carl and ellie cant have children...
+doriosity was that because of Carl tho? He could have had a baby with Emma

"Emma jean was a relationship that Carl had before his wife"
*_"Oh my goodness"_*
BUT WHY DOES ANDY HAVE THE POSTCARD!?!?!?
EXACTLY HE DIDNT ANSWER THAT
That's what I was asking
maybe Andy is Carl's son before he mat his wife and Emma jean is his mom so he has a copy of the post card to remember his dad!!!😱
OK Emily from toy story is Emma Jean so that means Carl and Emily dated that's why Andy and his mom moved in toy story because she wanted to get away from Carl because he had just left her for Ellie so when they broke up Carl sent the postcard back then Andy's mom gave it to Andy. That is also why we don't see Andy's dad because it is Carl
damn!
ummmm wow..
And they had said that Emma Jean becomes a close friend after their relationship ended, so she wouldn't move away to get away.
good one

I’m watching this in 2019 and your channel now is so much better
But why was it in andys bulletin board!?!?
frrr!
If you add this to Andy's Dad/Woody theory maybe she is Andy's Dad's mom
But why does Andy have the postcard?
ikr
this is just a shot in the dark, but Emma Jean might be Andy's grandmother. she might have passed away and this postcard might be the only thing Andy have to remember her.
Maybe...
+SilenceInWar most likely
That's what I was wondering! 😂
Why didn't he straight up ask him why Andy has the postcard?
Can I just say, I love this channel, it really gets you thinking. I love all of your videos! :D :)
So why does Andy have the post card then?
Andy's mom was hu s other entrest
WHAT?!
+rose gold Andy's mom's name is Emily not Emma
+Kaylynn Biggs ohhhh
Because she is his aunt. MUAHAHHAHAHAA
…what? I though Carl and Ellie had been basically together since they where like 8…
Well they show them interacting but it never said at that point on they were dating. Any romantic relationship that Ellie and Carl had wasn't revealed into they actually got married before that they're relationship was ambiguous.
Well we don't know what happened from age 8 to like age 25
Not Romantically though.
as friends. they probably dated around with other people, then realized that they developed feelings for each other over time, and ended up together. and Emma jean was the last gf carl had before he finally got romantically involved with Ellie
nobody can last from 8 to adult age they probably were friends from when they were kids and than stayed friends but dated other people and finally dated and got married

But then why is it in Toy Story?
Kiwi Plays Games EASTER EGG MUCH ? CONSPIRACY THEORY
Kiwi Plays Games I KNOW WHYYYYY!!!!!!!!!
why?
Y
Here is a theory. Carl and Ellie are married, but Carl and Emma Jean had a kid. One of Andy's parents. Emma gives Andy (her grandson) the letter to give to his grandfather and step grandmother. Andy gives the letter, but then Ellie dies a while after. To keep her forever in his heart, he makes a copy and puts it on his wall
The answer to a mystery I didn't even know I wanted solved.
Why does Andy have it??? You said who Emma Jean is but who is she to Andy?
ikr
Exactly
I totally agree
same question I had.
what if Carl is Andys grandfather and Emma Jean is his grandmother but Ellie was never to find out? that would explain Andy having the post card unless it has something to do with his father. Unless both Up & Toy Story 3 tie in with Inside out since Riley has Carl & Ellie in her memories.
