Had both, LP bags n currently rocking with ST bags. Both have pros n cons. IMHO, if you like soft fabric solid construction that allows you to detach, then go with LP, and there are no other brands that come close to quality n functionality as LP in the current market. Now, with clamshell bags from ST is good if you like the hard bag apperance on LRS or LRST. I installed mine on ST n yes, Rt side is higer thsn left but iblt bothered me for days but i got used to it. It locks n secured when i travel OT. No regret thus far.
Great video. Awesome install overview. I didn’t realize the install would be so easy on the ST. I’ve had LPs on a couple Dyna builds and my ‘20 Low Rider S and loved them. I see people saying the rounded bags don’t go with the lines of the bike. I think that’s wild! The LPs sit flush with the curve of the rear fender. The are kidney shaped because the rear of the bike is. The stock bags are asymmetrical rectangles. How does a rectangle box compliment the rounded lines of a bike!? To each their own, I guess… Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the comments. I 100% agreed. The LPs look awesome on the bike and fit the curves perfectly. The stock bags are 2 different sizes and drove me nuts. Very happy with the result. Ride safe.
I'll stick with the clam shell bags on mine. Just not a fan of the soft bags as far as looks go. Hopefully at some point, maybe Harley or an aftermarket company will come out with a bigger saddle bag for the right side.
Thanks for the comments, much appreciated! I honestly hope they do as well. I mean, I get that they need to accomodate for the dual pipes on one side for the LRST and the Heritage, but I personally don't like the limitation it poses to take away valuable space ;-). Here is to hoping. Ride safe!
@justkillnbugz I just ordered the same saddlebags you installed. Those clamp shells look nice but not very useful . What would the set of clamp shells be worth.?
Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. I am not sure of the weight of each product but I can tell you that the leather pros are definitely lighter. Ride safe
Thanks for the question. I do not know for sure, however the kit comes with 2 lengths of bolts in case you have a standard backrest or none. The bar you have seems very thin so I would guess it may not be an issue , but check clearance with each once installed to be sure it is long enough but also does not interfere with the tire travel. In worse case scenario you could reach out to Leather Pro or possibly grab an in between bolt from your local hardware store. Hope that helps, ride safe
Great looking bags. I don't like the Clam Shells. I just ordered the Mini LP Bags for mine. Do you know if the full size LP Bags will fit with the standard twin exhaust? Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. No, the stock exhaust sits too high for the standard LP bags which is why I waited until I changed it out. Would love to see the minis when you get them on. Enjoy! Ride safe.
Thanks for the question. I have not started the sale process yet, but I am looking at selling these for $1200.00 plus shipping. I will be doing a local sale post once I get some time to do so as well. On HD's website, they list the bag kit for an in store purchase only at : www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/shop/fxlrst-saddlebags-vivid-black/p/90202534DH NEW ARRIVAL FXLRST Saddlebags - Vivid Black $1,499.95 + Tax Part Number: 90202534DH Color: Vivid Black ITEM SOLD IN STORE ONLY If you are interested in purchasing these from me, they have about 200 miles on them and are in perfect condition as the video indicates, I will be including everything that comes with the bags to be mounted, including the original key tumblers installed. You can either purchase new tumblers from HD or have these re-keyed if you choose. I did not want to sell them with holes where they go. Send me a private message at my Instagram account: instagram.com/justkillnbugz/, or send me an email: killnbugz@gmail.com if you are interested and want to discuss any details. Thanks again for the question and ride safe!
Hi, thanks for the question. No, they will not. They indicate in the directions and on the site that they will not. That’s why I waited until I converted to the SPC exhaust before installing them. Ride safe.
Hi Richard, thanks for the question. I love them! I have done several errand runs with them, one pic I show in the video, and they hold a ton. Very happy with the choice and the upgrade. Ride safe.
Thanks for the question. No, the HD clamshell bags are different sizes with the right side being shorter from top to bottom due to the fitment for stock dual exhaust. The leather pros are both full size bags since they require a lower exhaust configuration and relocated turn signals to fit. The style of the Leather Pro bag affords more flexibility and capacity compared to the limiting clamshell design. The size difference and storage capability is the exact reason that I wanted to swap them out. I wanted two full sized bags, even on both sides. Plus the Leather Pros expand a ton and fit a lot more. Ride safe
@@justkillnbugz sorry I meant if you were to compare the LP footprint to say, the bigger ST bag. Basically asking if the visual proportions of the LP are similar to the stock bags.
@@ARDStudios Gotcha, in my opinion, yes. They look natural on the bike, very similar coverage across all areas. The only exception I would say is that Leather Pros are more rounded at the top and bottom due to the material instead of the hard bends of the stock clamshells. I hope that helps, lol. I am going to post a reference pic on my Instagram page to help show this in case others may have the same question.
Appreciate the video. I’ve seen a few references where folks are swapping out the stock bags. Personally I like the clamshell bags much better. Would I like for them to be the same size? You bet. With that said, not enough to stick on different bags. IMO the Leatherpros do not go with the lines of the ST. Not a fan. Take care.
@@bcbsilverhawk8426 Thanks for the comments and feedback. Great viewpoint, thank you for sharing. That’s the great thing about the options we as owners have. We can customize our bikes to what we like. I don’t think any opinion is wrong here, I think it’s just really about what each person likes and how it applies to their specific application or build desire. Thanks again and ride safe.
Thanks for the comments, I appreciate that. The thumbnail shows the whole bike, but I can see where it would be beneficial to have that in the video as well. It was raining at the time I made that video so couldn't go out to show the full shot until later. Great video on the leather pro bags..
Do you still have the stock clamp shell bags ?
Thank you, much appreciated. Yes I do still have them. Looking at selling them as well, I will not go back to them again.

You know by any chance if you would need the bigger bolt if you have an Edward Richie sissy bar?
