I'm 50 years old and watch everything standup... literally everything... I don't consider it hyperbole to say this is one of the best comedy specials of all time... it helps if you were around in the early 90s because some of the best stuff in here is dated to that era... but this is a great stand up at their best. I saw it back then, and I search it out every year or so, and watch it again... thankful to find it here for this search. Hope it sticks around for the next one... just perfect.
Barely of age watching this - most I didnt get - 30 years later a great chunk of this set sticks with me. I must had watched it 10s of times on comedy central and 'pre-youtube". I probably had not watched it in 20 years and this still is hilarious. Always the 100 year old man and the megator bit - especially more funny being a parent.
I've always known the name Dana Carvey but never seen one his standups. Some of my favourite standups are Chris Rock's "Never Scared", Bill Burr's "Breaking Bad", most of Iliza Schlisinger's shows and Jerry Seinfeld's "I'm Telling You For the Last Time". The last one I can recite almost entirely thanks to a CD from childhood.
Carvey's talent is almost unmatched, truly on the Mt. Rushmore of not just comedy, but pure performance. I don't think Hollywood still knows what to do him, he could have been a Superstar. It's not by accident the only person you ever hear of having a problem with him is Meyers. Mike was just straight up jealous as hell of him.
Saw Dana live a few months ago. I’m a big fan of stand up comedy and I’m 63 so I’ve seen a lot. I’m not exaggerating in the least, it was absolutely dazzling. It was like watching a high wire act. I’ll never forget it.
Thanks to the early days of Comedy Central, when they had no original programming of their own, every single person I know can pretty much recite this entire thing.
YES IT'S ABOUT TIME SOMEONE POSTED THIS!!! My tape got ruined from a flood :( LOVE THIS MAN. I MET HIM AND HE'S SO NICE AND FUNNY. I was so nervous and then just stared at him for 2 minutes straight. Then he was like "are you ok?" and I went (doing my best attempt at a McCartney) "Has my face gone a bit funny?" and then HE LAUGHED! It was like a year ago and i'm still not over it! I MADE DANA CARVEY LAUGH! Well, Dana Carvey made dana carvey laugh but I helped!
me and my mother live in different states and I can call her right now and get her to recite the chopping broccoli song word-for-word with me just like Dana does it. This is by far one of the best comedy specials ever made by any comic. Thank you thank you thank you to whoever uploaded this to you too. I'm going on a trip to see her before the year's over and you better believe I will be replaying this and me and her will be laughing our ass off just like it was the first time we seen it. So, MUCH appreciated for this video! Dana Carvey is by far one of the funniest comedians of all time!!! I just wish he'd come out with another special!!! It would be epic!!!!

When you talk about the best comedian talent wise. He is the best, hands down he can do it all. even musically funny he can do different types of comedy. Thank you for uploading this awesome video, great for parties and making me smile again. Your the best. Thank you.
Same.. for me I was a senior in highschool when this was on HBO all the time . Definitely shaped my personal humor. This and the first Chris Rock special..
This show has been edited up several different ways. Thanks for posting this! When the credits rolled I was saying, "what about the Ross Perot bit?!" but then they dropped a portion of that in with the credits.
So enjoyed rewatching this performance. Thanks to all who made it available. Thanks to you Dana for sharing your talent. My husband and I loved you live at Rooster T Feathers in Sunnyvale with your sons. Hope all are doing well.
this act sang to me in the mid 90's. very inspirational as a 9 year old. i missed half the jokes, but it was still hilarious at the time. "Named himself a verb present tense" this made my memorization of his act more hilarious after growing to the tender age of 27
That was one of the best times of my life when I was single;and in mad desperation for a woman; and instead was given Dana's spirit of joy and laughter- as a message that I should relish my solitude, and seek God beauty in all things around me.
I think they played this once a day on Comedy Central when I was growing up. Certain lines from this special have been irreparably burned into my DNA. My kid's first words are probably going to be "Megator, Megatee, Megatai, Megatoo!"
Oceanmachine27 Holy shit me too. They frequently aired this on Comedy Central, so my sister and I quoted this constantly. "Wipe my ass, put on car-tooooons!" or "We're watching Pooh Bear....it's a good one too, Piglet gets lost!"
I'm 45. Saw him do seinfeld's comedians in cars and heard he was doing comedy again. Love to see him. So so so naturally funny. My faves today are Burr, Chappelle, CK, Segura, and Kathleen Madigan, etc. And there are many I appreciate. But Dana had that thing that very very very few have...Maybe him and Brian Regan are the only ones that come to mind, But their faces alone make me laugh before they speak. Just born funny with minds to back it up.
He is awesome I'm freaking cried😭😭😭 laughing when he started playing the music which was great. He is a fantastic comedian hands down!!! I LOVED IT !!!
Man, this is a classic now. Dana was already 40 here, he had been a favorite since I was a kid and he's still delivering today. My wife and I quote this one all the time. "Naked time!" especially became reality when we had kids.
thank you Eslam, I did a show with Dana, just before he got the SNL gig, he used my piano that night and yeah he did the broccoli bit, he was hilarious back then too.
The venue was in Sunnyvale on the El Camino real it was a popular bar the entertainment that played there was great we all knew it as the XXXXX before it changed ownership and name with a Rooster or something like that.

I never tire of this. He gets me laughing til I cry every time!!! He's brilliant 👏. Does he dream this stuff up? Hilarious and relatable at the same time!!!! Kirk Douglas and Bert Lancaster??
