Got the HS7 in 2014.. still amazing, back then, I needed around 100W power with 7"... for my room, and they came up, 95W in 4mx3m room...can't be better. Will see them a lot in the next 20 years probably, and the prize is nothing. I would give double..from NS10 to HS to HS7.. perfection. Really Not for beginners 🤖
These speakers were originally designed with 8" woofers. When they were released as HS80M and HS50M there were no HS70M versions. HS80M was the one designed for studios. The 6.5" version was added when the HSM series was upgraded to HS series.
Just for listening purposes, any idea if i had to choose a DAC to connect thru the HS8's XLR port, which one would provide a richer experience, the SMSL M500 or Topping DX7 Pro? Thank you!
Hi.
To the ones who argue which speakers are better.. It all depends on your room size guys. Comments like "HS7 are better for mixing" don't make any sense whatsoever lol. HS7s can't physically produce as much low end as HS8s so you will have a tendency to boost your low end unnecessarily as you won't be able to hear it as well. But again.. it depends on your room size. Having HS8s in small rooms wouldn't help you with anything and it would sonically muddy up your room.
Hs8 for me. But if we want the sound to be matched/same. Must eq hs8 in the bass region. And/Or. Seal the Hs8 port (sealed enclosure). If not do any of this, hs7 is obviously made for this smaller room tge hs8 cannot breathe enough in=must seal that enclosure or eq it. Easy to make identical enough sound though hs8 will always play louder/more effortlessly. Beautiful studio/setup/testing methods🙏🙏🙏
you have two options: music stores or internet, if you live in Holland or Belgium then try: Bax shop or Coolblue. If you live in Germany then try Thomann watch out with amazon, because i heard some have bad guaranty policy good luck
Listening to this on Hs7's :) while the HS8's cop that smooth low frequency, I found a noticeable dip in the mid's hence opting for the 7's. I believe you have solved the problem here though. Just buy them all!
@@timmetjuh070 cool so a DAC would do the work! I also have in plan to buy this speakers but I'm not quite sure if I should purchase a subwoofer too. whats your recommendation? should I stay 2,0 system only? thanks again
I have KRK and HS7 at home ...... HS7 is very flat but never had good mix results with them. With my KRK, when I listen my track in my car, its beautiful. My track mixed with hs7 in my car sound bad .... never beautiful .... never magic ..... all my friends prefer my mixes with my KRK, always.
@@ChrisBessy fair point but still the HS7 and the HS8 has a differents I mean that the HS8 more bass and at the same time has a good balance and yes indeed the HS7 doesnt have that. You only need the right signal and right volume and they definately will move. Also it's hard to see them moving from the listening position. So set good volume and try a few bass heavy songs :)
Bulldozer Crickets from the originator of this video... I will chime in and say that the Yamaha HS8S sub is the awesome sauce to the HS7 AND HS8 monitors... I have two HS8S subs, and those paired with the monitors are the real deal,,, both the 7 and 8's are better for the sub application. Alone the 8's are great, but adding subs is magic, the sound is seamless... Just remember, these are monitors, and I set the subs to be barely noticeable, very little volume, and yet they are the missing piece of tne puzzle... Yes, get the sub, even if only one,,, but you could get 2 and truly be set....
PsychoCaki You don’t own a pair of HS8 though. I have owned both and i like mixing better with the hs8. All depends of room acoustics and there is a -4db switch to remove low end when mixing. The HS7 are harder to mix on in my opinion because low end detail is too punchy and not as easy make desicions on.
@@epicon6 yeah but its too much for my room hs8. Too much big speakers for my room. I need to go with hs7 thats the problem. I know hs8 are best in terms of flatness but yeah. My room isnt good for 8 inch speakers and I like when its tight 'cause I already get used to my 4 inch speakers and I get good mixes on them. Edit: they don't have bass at all lol.
This is one of those 'you can only tell the difference with both of them next to each other', but the 8's are fuller and deeper

I've listened to a lot of music and its crazy how much of it is poorly mixed and mastered and the good music shines through on these babies.

well hs7 do have bass. I like ammount of bass on HS7. Nice video!
is it possible to use an external amp / DAC with the Yamaha HS 8?

So hs7 is like 2-3 db down and a bit less bass from hs8 ?
Love the vid man.. to the point with out all the chatting.. exactly what I want to see right now

is a 14x13x8 room too small for hs8?

Yeah i notice this aswell. HS7 sound a little bit better and the lows doenst differ that much. Haha
The hs7 has a boost in the mids...while the hs8 is flatter
Hey man, goeie video! Welke isolatie pads gebruik je voor de HS7?
waarom staan de hs8 spaekers onderste boven

What is this Yamaha Mini Screen at the right side of your desk
😅i saw it wasn't Yamaha
Does it worth buying any of this speakers for listen music only? no mixing or any other work
Yes they are. Then i would prefer the HS8, in my opinion the HS7 sounds more flat.
