This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for the video !! I think prices have dropped, HS 8 is ~$320/speaker after conversion in the EU, and that's before 20% off currently available 🎷 /edit - $320 end price, taxes are already included in the listed price over here :)
@@probablyawake Ah, enough said then! Thanks for following up. If studio size allows, I'll follow suit :) Thanks for taking the time to make this again

I’m looking to purchase a pair of HS 8’s for my home studio setup. My studio space is 27ft in length and 13ft in width,,I was considering the Hs 7 initially but I feel that they might be a bit on the small side to fit the room? Then again ,I’m a also bit concerned that if I go for the Hs 8’s they might just be to dominant and overwhelm in my studio space. Whichever monitor I eventually go with will be stand mounted, free standing and placed away from corners and rear walls. Would like love to hear you thoughts/advice and opinion,,it would be very much appreciated😊👍 Thanks,John,Scotland,U.K
Hey John, thanks for the comment! I think the HS8’s would be a perfect size for your room! My room is a tad shorter in length than yours but a bit longer in width and the HS8’s are nearly perfect for my space. I think that’d be the better bet! Hope this helps! :)

I'm a bedroom produer and I'm planning to buy hs7 and I produce mostly techno or some bassy stuffs. My room is of size 12x12 (feet). Is that a good option or should I go for hs8? Thanks for your response 😊
@@probablyawake since techno and all other genres focus more on bass and frequenct response of hs7 seems like 43-30khz and hs8 showing 38-30khz. Does that 5hz really make such difference while producing?
My studio space is about 11 x 21 and it's treated with broad band panels (first reflection points and cloud) as well as bass traps. I'm wondering if the HS8s are still too large?
Good question! Definitely necessary to connect the hs7’s to your computer if you don’t have an interface already. If you do you can just use your current interface and you’ll be good to go! :)
I hate tecno house music. And would never test speakers listening to that noisy crap. Its got to be the worst catagory of music ever invented. It's not even music.
Great question. I think I’d recommend at least a 10x10’ size room for the HS8’s, but it will really depend on room shape as well as size. My room is believe is closer to 16x20 and I think they’re perfect.
@@probablyawake I'm trying to decide between the HS7 & HS8 for an 11ft x 15ft room with some basic treatment for acoustic rock/singer songwriter genre. As I'm more interested in vocal detail than heavy low end I'm wondering if the HS7 is a better fit?
@@probablyawake Thank you, I've been leaning toward the HS7's! Especially as they will be 6 - 12 inches from the wall rather than the recommended 1.5m!
I tried teh focals.. the 65 and the 50s... the 65s gave a lot of room response... front ports maybe helped that happen??? not sure.. when I listen to comparisons I can hear that the Hs8s are less boomy.... might work out better... im keeping the focal 50s as they sound amazing but would like to check the low end maybe on the hs8s before exporting... what do you think
Love the HS8’s to check the low end! They will sound a fair bit different than the focals so it will be a learning curve at first but once you get used to them it’ll definitely benefit your production.

Hi, thank you for the great video. Could I ask for your opinion, my room is 12ft x 9ft, would you personally use HS7 or HS8’s? My concern is simply that the HS7’s won’t have enough bass response and I will have to invest in a subwoofer later. For reference, my room is a standard rectangle shape room with full carpet. Many thanks 👍
The HS7’s I believe would fit the room better, however the bass response on them is lacking a tad in my opinion. If you want to avoid making a sub purchase and that’s something you really need to hear to be able to mix well, I’d go with the HS8’s. With that being said, I’ve used my HS7’s for 6 ish years and have never needed a sub to get (what I think are) good mixes and masters on my tracks.
Thank you for getting back and your much valued feedback! What you said makes sense and it’s good to know you found the HS7’s a reliable pair for mixing. I think based on aesthetics as well as functionality the HS7’s are what I’ll go with. sold my focal alpha 50evo to get a pair of hs8 and never regret it. Much better mid-range and quality bass rather than 50's sloppy bass.
10x12 room liking the Hs7 with HS8S, but I wonder do you think I would have been better off with just the Hs8?
I think you made a good choice 👍🏽
An odd microphone choice as it rolls off the top end so much and not very accurate on transients.
No video or microphone will give speakers a fair chance, go listen in person if you can.
