Because, for generations the overwhelming majority of medical doctors were men. Now that we have a significant number of women doctors who are going through the same thing as us, serious research into our problems is mounting.

By 45 my girly part was so dry, that I gave up any dream of ever remarrying. By my early 50's I started experiencing what I called "blissful sleepless nights." It did not make sense, since I was not worried, or had any body aches. So why was I awake for up to 3 days and nights at a time? When I was 59, I finally had insurance and made an appointment. By that time, my girly part was so dry it hurt to sit on it. I met a nurse with my same problems. She introduced me to natural estradiol. That was my beginning to a 10 year quest to find a natural hormonal treatment for my symptoms. Thus, my girly part is doing better than it has in more than 20 years. It's still not like it was at 20, but it has come a long way!

Hi! I am in menopause for 2 years . First I was was sick with flu like symptoms ,and after 1 month the sickness was worsening and worsening in a bad way. I ended up in emergency room but they told me the symptoms is not matching with anything and they referred me to see a neurologist. My symptoms was :head pressure, clogged ears and sinuses, dizziness, blurred vision , back pain ,heartburn ,sore throat, dry eyes ,dry mouth, tmj, no appetite, esophagus spasm, and more. I was almost every day at my doctor office and I was seeing numerous specialists. Nothing was found. I was thinking I am going to die from a mysterious illness. Whoever ,after the end of this summer my symptoms disappear one by one, and now I am healthy and happy living my life. Ladies, I now is hard ,but all this nightmare will pass .Hugs!

Also she say to not take pills for anxiety ,only go easy on chores and take care of your body . I wasn't on hormones replacement, the doctor was against them because it will be hard to stop them or for some complications will arrise in time (who knows for sure?) Anyway, for 2 years I was in hell and barely was able to go to work and take care of my home and my kids. You will be ok ,and soon will enjoy your life again.🌻

Kari, you have been and are a LIFESAVER and I mean this literally. Your videos are helping me tremendously. I am a black 54 yo woman going through perimenopause (unbeknownst to me and my physician evidently)😢😢. Until I started further researching my symptoms I was diagnosed with Long Covid, allergies, obesity, anxiety and so on. I came up on one of your videos and voila 😮my craziness was explained. I've since watched dozens of videos and read articles which makes me feel better mentally and assured me I am not insane. I've even taken unpaid leave from work due to my circumstances. I attended a menopause discussion recently which has helped even further.
Kari, you're doing a wonderful thing and I thank you ten times over. You have inspired me to begin to share this information among my peers and women of color because we are so uninformed.
Continue to great work Kari 👏🏽👏🏽🎉👍🏽😊

This makes me so mad. I am 53 now and had been on oral contraceptives until about a year ago and within three month after stopping, things started to deteriorate. I had been having some symptoms for sure, but things kicked in big time last year. Like you, my doctor only talked about 'possible weight gain and hot flashes'. Talk about an understatement - try 5-7 pounds each year for the past seven years. I, like you, had a myriad of symptoms but it wasn't until one joint seems to fail after another (frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, foot pain, hip pain, aches through my legs, etc.) over about 6 months including cortisone shots, physical therapy, etc. and having to quit yoga, pilates, walking, and couldn't even clean my house. I was sleeping from about 11 pm to 3 am every day. After all these appointments no one put any of this together. In May I was afraid to make my next appointment, because I thought I would probably learn I had MS or something horrible. My husband encouraged me to look into an anti-inflammatory diet and I ACCIDENTALLY found the connection between menopause and joint pain I am started HRT in July and within 4 days I was noticeably improved. It's been 4 months and I have accepted my new body, have almost no joint pain, do intermittent fasting, take a few supplements, eat an anti inflammatory diet, exercise, sleep 7 hours (in a row!) most nights, returned to excise, and lost 15 pounds. I am grateful of course that I'm feeling better, but the fact that I had to figure it out on my own and that so many women suffer makes me absolutely furious about the status of women's health care in this phase of our lives. I'm not surprised but it makes me so mad to hear you were diagnosed with anxiety instead of getting the help you deserved. I am starting to talk with my friends about this and they're all sharing their stories - which we never talked about. We'd all just been silently suffering. Sad. And apparently it's up to us to solve our own problems, so we should be sharing what works and support each other. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I’m happy you figured it out and are feeling better. I wish I would have clued in long before I did. So sad that women have such sub standard health care. Menopause isn’t even taught in med school. We know more than the doctors in most cases. We deserve so much better.

I am experiencing everything which you mentioned. I am 53 years old. I stopped my birth control pills 2 months ago. I had a blood test last week, which confirmed that I am postmenopausal . For the past 2 months, I have severe osteoarthritis in all my joints, shoulders , knees and hips are the worst. I, too, was afraid of having lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. I researched osteoarthritis and menopause, and found validation in these you tube channels. I will have a telemedicine visit with my doctor today, and will ask for HRT. I also have long covid, which can also cause arthritis. I have begun an anti inflammatory diet, as well as no red meat/ dairy/ carbs. I feel a little better already being on a healthier diet. Thank you for everyone’s comments.

I, too, also experienced a menopause bleed. There was a very stressful and even worrysome family ordeal and I was so angry and so anxious that I started bleeding. Of course, I did not go right to my doctor because I figured I would get told it was all normal. So I settled down a bit, but the spotting and full-on bleed persisted. I went to the doctor and he told me that If it continued to let him know and we would have some test ran. Suddenly, this other situation which had been occurring right here on our property with a brother-in-law that we could not get to leave and he stopped paying bills and became obnoxious. Finally, his 30 days were up and he had to leave. I know I deflated like a popped balloon, but in a few days, the bleeding stopped and then it was over. I've not had it happen again. THAT, is how much stress can mess up our whole system!

The month before I turned 50 I started getting nausea, losing weight, anxiety and nervous jittery stomach, i didn't know what to think i was waiting for the hot flashes and the weight gain to come, thanks to your videos you let me know this is also symptoms of perimenopause. What a relief to know i was "just" going through my transition, I started taking a very low dose birth control pill which has helped, still get anxious and a moment of panic but definitely better. The vitamins i take to help for perimenopause are b6, its supposed to help flush out excess estrogen and i take b3, which is niacin ladies this one is a lifesaver when it comes to relaxing you if you feel anxious, i take the regular one because i like the flush, it makes me feel very relaxed if you don't get a flush means your very stressed may need another one. I have met a few women that don't have any symptoms at all or at least only a few. It was hard talking about the issue with some as well. I suffered from so many things for a few years until I went to a Naturopath in my mid 50's. She put me on Bioidentical HRT and that has been the world of difference! At least my anxiety is much less and I am sleeping better. My family doctor was useless. I wish medical schools would teach a more indepth study in peri/post menopause...at least admit it exists! Thank you Kari! It sure is a long journey for so many women.

Kari, I feel like your story was mine! I started with aches and pains in my early 40's and them full blown panic and anxiety in my mid 40's. The Doctors never had a clue but one older nurse told me that she thought it was perimenopause symptoms. I started investigating and started on a wellness journey. That was over 10 years ago and I feel better than I did in my 30's.

Insomnia . It’s only doing my own research that I wasn’t going mad but all the other symptoms were peri symptoms. Didn’t know there were loads apart from the usual night sweats / hot flushes . Even had leaky boob . Thanks for your channel and ppl like you raising awareness.

When I suggested it, he said it's possible. UGH!!!! I started researching and your videos helped me stay out of the doctors office. I don't want to take HRT but I hate these symptoms. I just found your channel. OMG! You are living my life!!! I am 59. My periods started skipping last year. Frozen shoulder happened to me in my 40s. Never would have connected that to perimenapause. My peri symptoms are everything you have described. The body aches have been horrible the last few years. I have researched for answers and finally just chalked it up to hormones. For years I have told friends I’m convinced doctors do not understand female hormones and the effects on our bodies. No wonder the men in our lives think we are crazy!!!!!

    • @KariAnneWright

The body wide pain is due to falling estrogen and collagen. Collagen is the figurative glue that keeps us together. It affects every muscle, joint, ligament, tendon, the bones, gums, hair follicles, gut and connective tissue. Using a liquid collagen has been helpful for me. Also doctors do not learn about menopause in med school. We know more than most doctors. Sad but true.

Now I'm 52 and hopefully there is some light at the end of the tunnel. I feel like everything hurts. I'm soooo tired. The monster periods that come at different intervals (18 days... 45 days) are debilitating. I'm ready to be done now. And I had heart palpitations some years ago. Extreme depression has occasionally been my companion and the night sweats have me doing more laundry than I'd like to! 🥵 I've also had tinnitus and have forgotten the names of people I've known for years which had me thinking I had dementia. I thought I was going mad...your description of the many peri menopause possible symptoms started to make sense. I had constipation from hell...anxiety....palpitations...painful feet....painful joints...periods lasting weeks....brain fog...instant (it seemed) weight gain. Internal trembling finally sent me to the drs. I thought I had the onset of Parkinson's disease! I live in France and blood tests were done...and the (young) female Dr, gave a shrug...'menopause' when looking at the results. I haven't yet had a full year without a period...(I'm 54) but they are very few and far between now. Why we aren't told about peri menopause is astounding in this day and age? !😉😬

I'm 51 and I'm so glad you did this video the tendinitis really resonates with me. I personally would rather go through menopause than a period because I think it's gross. I saw the doctor yesterday and of course being over 50 he was almost excited to do all the horrible probing stabbing, squishing test that woman according to the medical professionals say you need. However it is one's right to reject such tests. After the passing of Suzanne Somers from three's company she was against mammograms and said they caused cancer, so we as woman need to do extensive research when it comes to health. Thanks for your video on this subject because it is not a topic that is high on the list for women's health and mental health. 😊❤

I quickly made some changes in my lifestyle & that has been extremely helpful throughout my perimenopausal journey. I'm 51 & still in the peri menopausal phase, with a history of an notorious autoimmune disorder, Psoriasis. But i guess making the lifestyle changes & being very positive to the inevitable has hugely helped. Clean mindful eating, daily exercise, constant hydration, good sleep, keeping away from judgemental/negative ppl & listening to or watching lot of motivating & fun content has made it quite manageable thus far. Knowledge is definitely is powerful coz you are better equipped to handle such situations.

Thank you Kari. Everything you've stated was and is me. I had and still have those symptoms. You reminded me of my diagnosis of the tennis elbow. I am thankful for you. I don't feel like I'm losing my mind. God bless you and keep up the good work.

I'm 42. So far, I'm just hungry all of the time and my periods are a bit out of whack. I'm glad I found your channel to see what to expect. There really aren't many good books. I have tried to read about 3 so far, but they weren't really much help.

Thank you for your candor, acknowledgement and suggestions. It's def a marathon not a sprint. Hibiscus tea for sleep and bp regulation and staying active help tremendously! Always looking for alternative options. Looking to try sound healing next.

Hi, Kari, I’m post-menopausal (I think). I started with hot flashes in my mid-40’s & progressed thru menopause with palpitations, more hot flashes, dizziness & falling, sudden pains, somehow I skipped night sweats, but dealt with a bunch of other symptoms that you address in every video! Thank you! Now, at 68 yrs old, I’ve started having fevers in the 100-101F range almost every evening. What the heck is that?! It returns to normal, all on its own, within an hour or 2, but I’m not sure if it’s menopause related or something else. Just thought I’d check in with you before I head off to see the MD. I’m still having ‘predictable’ hot flashes, which does make them less of a surprise, but just as bothersome to deal with! Thank you for this lifesaver channel of information!

Thank you for sharing your journey. I too began perimenopause at age 45 and it hit me really hard. I started with panic attacks out of nowhere. Chest pain that also took me to the hospital but everything turned out to be ok. I’m 46 and I have learned to eliminate a lot of foods that would make it worse. I have found some alleviation but still each day is different. At times I have chronic joint pain, breast tenderness, tummy issues, if you can name it I feel it. 😮 My ob/gyn offered to put me in birth control…I’m still thinking about it.
