BMW’s have always been quick around a track (handling) but they’ve really never been straight line fast until recently
Real beamer heads knew what to do to make em quick in a line. Once bmw started making turbo straight 6s from factory is when things changed
@@bc5084 I had an E46 and E92 and not one other them came straight line fast from the factory. Yeah, I could supercharge them but for the money, they were still not that fast. Hell, the 335i’s were quicker but even then, they’re weren’t 10sec fast.

Tall guy did it before Mod2fame I think. The Hellkeezy was one of the first remember. But I watched M2F more seriously because he was a serious car guy. He wasn't a poser or just searching for views. He had great knowledge and was personable

The thing is that same 700whp Supra will run a 900whp hellcat.
If you really wanna run fast for cheap pickup an n54 for 8k put 10k in it and for 18k you will run hellcats for a fraction of the price
No person with sense will dig race with a hellcat. Watchyaneck has a bolt on zl1 beating cars with way more money into them
If we are talking really cheap my n54 2010 8k fbo dual pumps helix e85 upgraded twins 650-700 depending on e content no car compares mods I paid less than 5k
The rest of the car is trash for 8k and today it ain’t 8k 🤣. Facts are you can get an ls car for less and make more power simply add boost and fuel make the same or more. But that’s the same argument the rest of the car becomes an issue due to age. The only reason those cars make power is because it has boosted. But your not making more power than a v8 on boost modified or not. Shit you can get a junk yard Ls and rebuild it for 4k 🤣 or just do it yourself because its that easy to work on.

And remember these are bmws so the interior is decently nice even by todays standards.

1:35:33 The b58 thing is SUPER CAP.... Dudes have been messin with oem i6 turbo bimmers since 07 with the N54... Nobody gets credit for B58 stuff... Burger Motorsports and the JB3 on the N54 and RB turbos gets credit if anyone... I'm sure that cat pushed the b58 and all but tuned turbo i6 bimmers were nothing new... I still subbed to that cat but I'm tellin you... That guy did not surprise anyone with a tuned turbo bimmer running numbers...

S58 is quick but god damn 80 to 90k. Im broke so 20 mustang gt. Base. 10r80. 35k. 7k ess kit, fuel injector, BAP. DIY install. U making 650whp on 93 (no other mods). Running 6 seconds 60 to 130 (depending on DA). High 10 second 1/4 mile.

Also I believe he is incorrect about the cheap power vs American cars, there’s countless videos out there of budget foreign builds (mods costing under 10k) (running reliably) that whoop hellcat’s asses back to back. Not here to hate, just questioning the validity of his numbers and logic of his argument

I have a n55 x5 and I have a c6 corvette.. also a 330 but that’s n/a..as far as bolt one it’s cheaper to build the bmw but as far as to make 1000hp and make a real build the vette is cheaper…just from what I see from trying to build my n55 and ls2 💯
Yah after a certain point it doesn't make sense anymore. I am N54 myself, after about 700 at the wheels it makes sense to move to another platform. Or have the best of both worlds, and swap the N55 for a LS. The Vette is actually designed and built for this stuff, the E chassis was a family sedan for soccer moms. I love my car, but I also know what it is and isn't.
In comparison to massachusetts, yall got 100000x more car content and exposure than us 🤣. The thing that sucks is people here are too closed knit. Even down to the shops. They dont want to work with anyone. I have people/shops in NY, NJ, Md, etc who want to work.
Man I'm up in VT and have the same damn problem. I have a 900hp cummins, a 650hp cummins, and my xdrive n54 with hybrids, fbo blah blah. Nobody here does shit with cars, the typical ricers, but nobody with actual power. The closest track is down in southern NH. I would love to meet up with like minded people in the north east. I don't care what people drive, not a brand loyalist. Be awesome to do some racing, folks up here need to have something to do besides getting fucked up.

Bro ain’t lying . My brother bought a c6 with suspension problems for 10k . Fixed all the suspension for less than 3k and took that ls3 and only put intake headers . Full exhaust and tune and makes well over 500 whp for less than the price of a new Kia forté. So yeah American muscle is the cheapest way to make power in a straight line . And I’m a import guy till I die but a spade is a spade

Imma be honest im a BMW aenthusiast but i love american cars and I appreciate the history and heritage they both have , my issue with them saying porsche’s or bmw’s or german cars in general are “boring” or “not race cars”. Bruh a real track is not a drag strip , you can do everything to make more power and go faster but can you stop , turn , and control your car at the limit in a controlled consistent manner “thats a race car”. Thats what those cars are about, when everything in the car comes together to create a highly refined package. Corvette’s, mustangs, camaro’s , Vipers at there highest lvl’s do this very well. American sports cars traditionally have always came in with large displacement motors making it easier to see power increases with small changes hence “less money”. When it comes down to it , its a difference in intellect and philosophy in between different cars. Thats why you spend more when you buy a ///M5 vs hellcat charger. But calling bmw not race car from someone who drives a challenger is straight up crazy😂😂.

S58 M4 and M3 are pretty much the only quick BMWs less than 5k and you're into the 9s however G80s xdrive are super expensive. You are looking spend at least 80-85k for one used.
One car from bmw E46 m3 was killing Corvette back in the day. Stock for stock. Only issue was expensive aftermarket that was in Germany to import parts

I've always used fast and quick as fast equals how fast a car can go I.e. Top speed. Quick is how quickly a vehicle can go from one point to another. I.e 0-1320 foot 60-130 mph. Any of those variations.
Love this podcast. Some great points made about being a car guy. We live and breath this sh!t. And that talk about going fast with American Muscle is straight facts. That's why my BMW has a LS in it.

We look at the 330 based on the power curve. Also anyone saying that a 4k lb car launched from a dead stop is faster than the same car already going 50mph for time can’t be taken seriously…been at this for 30 years. Easy fix is to launch the both cars on a prepped surface then debate times.
