all i have to say is i always,always love interviews with the Hartley's bros,especially Carl because he's so direct to the point the englishman way,this interview was so fun ,rarely will i last the whole nine,in this case close to 2 hours,but i did and i watched it with the utmost attention ,it's one of the best covering the hartley's business.
Everyone is a salesperson. Everyday you're selling something, often without even realising it. Learning the skill of sales can be applied to anything, not just one industry

Awsome Video Rob & a great dealer right there!!.. I’ve Allways thought of certain cars as investments!!. Not just supercars but anything RS, STI, GTI, Gt Turbo ect will Allways have a fan base & be COLLECTABLE & usually increase nicely in price..I have a few appreciating future classics😎

I could listen to Carl talking about cars all day, he also owns my second favourite car which looked sweet, but I didn't see my number one in his garage which was a surprise although I know most won't refer to it as being a supercar which is crazy considering the price range - Ford GT MK II ❤

This was a great podcast and really enjoyed the content and your discussion with Carl.
The Pagani looks like it was engineered on another level. That’s a special car and if I collected I’d buy it.
The Lamborghini just has great stance and look about it. Can’t go wrong buying one.
If however, I had to choose it would be the Ferrari F12 Speciale.
Maybe it’s because it’s got a front engine like the older Corvettes 🤔. I’m a Corvette fan through and through.

I don't know much about the appreciation levels on the 930 turbo because I don't have the cash to consider buying one but in my view Rob, that's the one I would one to have so I think you bought a great car and I'm sure you will get many smiles and if you do sell it down the line, you will make money.

Great Interview. My fav's are either the GT2RS or the F12TDF, sadly my wallet can't stretch to either. I thought the SLS FE was a sleeper @£440000. Easy to sell something when you have the right person infront of you.
Excellent buy on that 930 honestly was a little surprised how reasonable the price was. A personal fav drivers car.
I thought these were more like £130-140k

Guys don’t be hatters, the guy knows his stuff and must be doing something right. He is a professional sales man and focusing on what the customer wants. Keeps quiet when meant to and not talk for the sake of it. Perhaps he could call into my local Porsche dealership and teach them some sales skills. Well done

I'm sorry, I've been in tech sales for over 30 years, and did a short stint as a car salesman. A car is a totally emotional purchase. if someone "Wants" that car, sure they may beat you up a bit, but at the end of the day they will buy it. Try selling something based on an ROI for a corporation. That, takes sales skill's...
Likewise, I was in telecoms sales (router manufacturer) for a similar time to you and you are spot on, the complexity of selling B2B is way different to car sales especially where it’s a “want” rather than a “need” purchase.
To be fair to Mr Hartley, his IP (excuse the pun) is his Rolodex of contacts he had to cultivate over many years although I imagine he had some initial help from his fathers list of customers.

This interview was one of the best I've ever seen, top notch. Favourite car: the 930 which was purchased. Just superb, iconic, what a vibe. As soon as he put the seat back and you sat in it, i knew you would buy it, it suits you to a "T" 😀 And the comments about the Countach....talked me out of buying one possibly, but God they have the same vibe and stance as that 930 turbo. Basically it's the big 3: Countach, testarossa, and 930. Well done 👏

44:06.. me and my dad are really close.. there's a theme here, and in the duck Dynasty stories.. where true wealth is on display in the relationship between children who respect their parents into their dotage/into their elderly stages of life.. true wealth is when your adult children respect you into your elderly years.. you reek of respect and love and honoring of your parents.. this is a great podcast.. I’ve got a 930 5 speed and trust me you won’t be disappointed.
Great vid and informative. Agree with thoughts on cryptocurrencies as there’s nothing underpinning them, at least with physical objects even if the price drops or market crashes, you still have the physical object. The high end cars and watches are like works of art too so they can be enjoyed unlike invisible asserts such as crypto.
