SRT-4 swapped neon here lol. I'm glad people realize how peppy they were. Back in the day DOHC neon's vs B18 and B16 Hondas made for some great rivalry back in the day.

Had a D16 with 400hp all day. Took a solid year of racing to blow the head. It was a solid fun little car at 18 years old lol
Hell ya bro single cam wave was big here in Massachusetts back in like 05 till 08 stock single cam turbo with nitrous and clutch smoking type r and anything that can to them and when it blew it it would cost you $45 for a new block this podcast is the shit just found it and will definitely be my new podcast keep on killing it guys 💪🏽🙏🏽

56:29 (correction) the base models come with 1.5 NA making like 175 hp the sports tourings and Si’s come with 1.5 Turbo making 205 hp the Type Rs come with a 2.0 turbo K20c1 making 306 HP from factory the new one on the FL5 makes around 315HP

Honda OG here. He is spot on with d series but it is specifically the D16Z6 is the one you want. I launched a rod out of a D16Y8. My Z6 never blew, I swapped in a B18C1 GSR and sold the single cam still running.
boosted single cams with "greddy Kits"(late 90's early 2000's) made 170 - 200 hp to the wheels.. they were faster than stock type r's and could keep up with cars that came stock with 3 times the hp because of power to weight.
If it hasn't been mentioned the suspension setup he was describing is called "cantilever" 40:17

my CRX SI had a D16A6 block, LS rods, Vitara pistons, and Z6 head with intake manifold and it loved boost. due to body shop taking too long I got bored and got a motorcycle than sold the CRX...
Currently my 96 civic coupe w/ numbers matching GSR motor/trans sitting in the garage. I can’t decide if I want to build it as the GSR or throw my TSX’s k24 in there. Since I picked up my 06 STI I haven’t made time for my Hondas 🥲

ant lying about that single jingle combo! I had a b18b turbo and that bitch rolled out...my bro had a turbo d16y8 witch was a beast to..can't forget the Tanabe racing medalon exhaust. After the y8 smoked he went ls/vtec and made like 185 190whp..the lsvtec was a wild combo.
hell ya d16z6 large turbo and a hundred shot of nitrous to help spool the turbo, that's a good a time 💪💪
Aight, I gotta call ol boy out on what he said since I'm the same age as him, got my civic that I still own at the same age as him so I saw what he saw. The whole Lambo door, HIN scene was on its last legs in 2007, that's before either of us got our cars, by 2008 when we both got our civics, the clean "JDM" look with a Spoon, Mugen or BYS lip, factory fog lights and amber corners was already prevalent. I know because the "spoon" lip, amber corners and factory fog lights on my civic, have been on there since I installed them a few months after I got the car.
The HIN scene was from the late 90s and peaked right at 2003/2004 when 2F2F came out and didnt last too long after that. By 2009 when the 4th Fast and Furious movie came out, the clean JDM was in full swing. I remember everyone going hog wild for that yellow EG with the carbon trunk, spoon spoiler and spoon wheels (most likely Rota Slipstreams) was parked in front of the FC and the NSX. So no, Lambo doors weren't "of the time" that was already past due by the time he and I got our civics. Not unless he's from a small town and had no access to what the scene was doing which could very well be the case before smart phones.
As for 30psi through a stock single cam making 400whp, nope. Not even close. Only way you're measuring 30psi is if you are severely restricting the intake side of the engine and you'd definitely not make 400whp with a stock single cam. Maybe a rod and Vitara build, but not with stock rods and definitely not with stock pistons. Even with today's vastly superior running and now we have E85, you still couldn't make more than 250whp without spitting a rod through the block. Reliable motors, sure, capable of making 400whp with stock rods and pistons? Nope. Even my GSR wouldn't hold over 330whp without rods and pistons.

Built D16z6 here 👋🏽. The walls are not that thick but you can make power but you need to change the rods for reliability . The rods are pencil thin.

Fun fact: Acura doesn’t exist in Japan. I believe it’s a U.S thing to give us more options for a regular car or luxury cars. Since as Chevy/gmc/ Cadillac, ford/ Lincoln, Toyota/ Lexus, and so on and so forth.

I had a f22 accord with b series transmission it was on 15psi I broke 5 different tranny synchronizers’s and four different transmissions and that motor was still going strong
Late to the party but…….. D16z6 with a cut and ported y8 manifold, t3/t4-60, 100 shot on a 15 lb cut off switch, 53900 and a few other things was a nasty MF’er in a EJ/EM. If you could get it to hook up the bitches were legit fast. Ahhhh the good ol days. Neptune was a budget build game changer!

Theyre pretty solid. I have a built y8. Id say watchout for that crankshaft tho, the do like to spin rods more than the others. If you build it try to get a crankshaft out of a pre obd2 d series
