They all gathered, abandoning all pointless individual desires, to be together at the final moment of the end of the world. Even if this did happen to the retail servers, WoW has become loved enough to where it will live forever. I started playing in TBC, took a break then moved on to WotLK, and I noticed the general pattern they were taking with the game and stopped. Never played vanilla, was too young at the time to afford a subscription and my parents wanted me to stop playing games altogether. Nost was the best online experience I have ever had. This is coming from someone with 15 years of online play.

I've played wow for 10 years vanilla-mop and Nostalrius has been the best time playing wow during that span, unfortunately i was too young to fully experience vanilla, i was never max level, even in tbc and wrath. But there is something about vanilla wow that just brings a community together, i've never experienced anything like it in all my days playing wow. I regret not fully experiencing the earlier expansions , but I'm just glad to have been a part of Nostalrius. I'll cherish the memories :) but i'm still sad about it..

Now the game is so focused on the solo playing, that it's simply not fun anymore. People just sit in their Garrison and use the queues to find groups, while in the vanilla and TBC WoW you actually had to search people to do stuff. Sure, the vanilla WoW and TBC weren't perfect, we all know that But they sure hell were at least 10 times better than the current WoW is. Curse you Blizzard for slowly turning your (rough) diamonds into abomination, curse you !

Having been there when that final "You have been disconnected." message showed up, it really sucks. Not because you just lost a game to play or whatever, but because of the connections you have lost to people you played with.

A lot of them were the same people that helped to make the game as successful as it is. These weren't people trying to weasel Blizzard out of their due but rather people looking for a foregone experience Blizzard is no longer willing to sell them. This version of WoW harkens back to an era of Blizzard when they were a small and passionate developer that lived to entertain their fans. There are more players in one area than there ever was on retail WoW. Almost as if the private servers are actually better at handling large number of players than Blizzards official servers.

People who now work at blizzard genuinely don't like the vanilla experience. They are the type of people who want their games to be exactly that: simple games, not experiences that require time and hardships to go through like vanilla WoW. And because they are like that, they think everyone is. Let's hope Nostalrius proved them wrong...

+Nathan Longhair That was glorious, I remember it well. Not only did two of the world servers go down constantly (the instance and kalimdor servers) the Eastern Kingdoms server mostly worked fine. But the bugs were hilarious! 10/10 Would crash into the stonetalon mountains by accident , half a continent away, again.
Its official. Blizzard hates fun. No wonder they only reward us once a week when loot might have chance to drop from raid. Rest of the game is just grinding without other purpose.

I feel like Blizzard is acting like Arthas right now. They had a great passion and love for making video games. But the sales had been declining, like when Arthas discovered the plague, and both went mad and do anything to satisfy themselves, including deleting Nostalrius so they can get more money (or something like that), or like when Arthas purged an entire city so the plague wont spread. Its just a matter of time before blizzard went full lich king. I, as a former Warcraft 3 player, just hope the upcoming movie dont suck.

I haven't played WoW for about 5 years now. And this is truly the saddest video in the entire internet. I felt like huge part of my childhood was erased in one moment...
I think that is what it would look like if an asteroid was bound to hit earth and obliterate it completely... the sound of people crying, kissing, even laughing and then nothing, upmost chilling silence. Feels.
For people who don't know what was happening. Blizzard shut down Nostalrius , What is Nostalrius ? Blizzard kept on updating WOW from Classic, TBC, Lich King, Panderia, and so on, Blizzard never realized that providing updates dosent mean all old players may like it - so Nostalrius gave Home to the players who loved to play on classic WoW. It was a great server, in fact it never lagged even with a 40 Man raid, and the Billzard servers did lag. The Admins were responsive and took awesome care for it. Nostalrius which had left Great memories for over 150000 Accounts and just over 32 Lakhs characters. It was a Happy emotion taken away by Blizzard in a harsh manner. Nostalrius .. Deep down in History !! Respect to those Admins and Volunteers.

Damn, I actually cried. Never played on a private server. But, the nostalgia and the amount of love for a dead and good game hit home.
What kind of futuristic technology are they using? no way current WoW server can handle this without Sharding...

I feel like Blizzard is acting like Arthas right now. They had a great passion and love for making video games. But the sales had been declining, like when Arthas discovered the plague, and both went mad and do anything to satisfy themselves, including deleting Nostalrius so they can get more money (or something like that), or like when Arthas purged an entire city so the plague wont spread. Its just a matter of time before blizzard went full lich king. I, as a former Warcraft 3 player, just hope the upcoming movie dont suck.

This particular video is powerful to me as a long time WoW player. Most
of these Nostalrius ending videos have music. This one however, with the
raw audio of crying and incessant spell casting, is chilling. For any
WoW players I think this is truly like watching a world and it's
inhabitants waiting at it's last moments for certain doom without hope.
They all gathered, abandoning all pointless individual desires, to be
together at the final moment of the end of the world. It's unnerving to
see it all fade instantly to a login screen forever inaccessible accept
through videos like this.

What is Nostalrius ?
Blizzard kept on updating WOW from Classic, TBC, Lich King, Panderia, and so on, Blizzard never realized that providing updates dosent mean all old players may like it - so Nostalrius gave Home to the players who loved to play on classic WoW.
It was a great server, in fact it never lagged even with a 40 Man raid, and the Billzard servers did lag. The Admins were responsive and took awesome care for it.
Nostalrius which had left Great memories for over 150000 Accounts and just over 32 Lakhs characters.
It was a Happy emotion taken away by Blizzard in a harsh manner.
Nostalrius .. Deep down in History !! Respect to those Admins and Volunteers.
I've been there for shut down of 2 servers now, Nostalrius and Light's hope Northdale. 20 more hours until classic wow releases. Feels good.
