Great summary. One thing, though: Illidan wasn't imprisoned in Outlands, he was killed. In Legion the players go through a lenghty mission to ressurrect him and almost fail.
well, yes and no. He was killed but he can't be killed. As a half-demon, his soul is immortal just like all other demons, it went to the Twisting Nether where he could have resurrected himself. However, because the wardens imprisoned his physical body, he was unable to do that, which was their point. That's why Gul'dan stole his body and why we had to get it back before he could be resurrected.

@@vamborala it's pretty clear that they decided last minute to make it much smaller Than originally planned to shift focus on Shadowlands instead. And it was probably for the best. The 8.2 events are not in the video by the way which are kind of important to some extent.
@@sombrego2260 They should have done a rising of the Dark Empire, with a random but menacing minion of N'Zoth as the final boss ( a bit like Helion back in the day ) which we would eventually kill and realise what Sylvanas is doing, and be torn between "staying in Azeroth to deal with N'Zoth" or "Go to the shadowlands", and finally opting for the later as "more important", then returning for 10.0 in a ravaged Azeroth where the world is split between old god forces and resistant of various races.
It's been two years, so some addendums: The Death Dimension is being terrorized by a big angry bald maned called The Jailer who wants to enslave everyone for some reason. He kills the super judge of the afterlife called The Arbiter with the help of Sylvanas who kidnaps various important people for the Horde and Alliance and even turns Andiun into another Lich-King lookin' dude but the ghost of his dad and some orc tell him 'don't do it, bro, you're better than this' and he pulls his sword apart. The Jailer is successful in whatever he was doing, but Sylvanas turns on him after he kills the arbiter because she's tired of being an underling. The Champions of Azeroth do what they do best and run over the Jailer and make a new arbiter, who puts Sylvanas on trial for the bad things she done. Sylvanas got her humanity (her living soul or something? idk) back and now feels bad for setting a giant tree-house on fire. Tyrande, who lived in that tree-house, demanded Sylvanas to go and collect souls for at least half an eternity. Basically every major fetch quest ever. Everyone else comes back to the realm of the living like nothing ever happened, except Anduin who felt bad about being another Lich King who's now walking around in the forever box. And now there's dragons. Like, a lot of dragons. Like you know that 300 meme where 'our arrows shall blot out the sun?' That, but with dragons. And also smaller humanoid lizards, too, who were created by Deathwing before he was Deathwing and apparently teamed up with Malygos to seal all his babies away for twenty thousand years. There's also apparently this big stormy elemental dragon that wants to rid Azeroth of the TItan's influence even though Azeroth itself is like a baby titan or something but who cares falling with style is a helluva lot of fun! The big main Dragons are trying to make the powers so they can become Aspects again, with Alextraza, Norzdomu, Kalegos, and Merenthil (who is Ysera's daughter) for Red, Bronze, Blue, and Green. Two of Deathwings kids are fighting to become the aspect of the Black dragons: Wrathion, who was Andiuns BFF, and some dude who was only seen briefly in The Outlands. But who cares, Falling with Style is a helluva lot of fun!
I love time travel stories and that was just confusing crap. I guess they ran out of ideas or got lazy and decided to bring back old characters for profit, but didn't work well so they tried something even more radically stupid with the jailer.
That and Tauren. But there were a lot more trolls and they did a lot more with their time. Actually, of all the 23 races in the game, including Allied Races, only 11 are native to Azeroth. And that's counting the ones that are just subtle offshoots like the slightly shadowy bois that are the void elves. You have the four elves, two trolls, two tauren, goblins, pandaren, and vulpera. So Azeroth (the titan) is definitely a furry. Oh man, looking at that list I realize it's mostly Horde. Pandaren play both sides, but then Horde has 8 and Alliance only has 2 native races and they're the oldest and youngest elves. Their other races are: 2 space aliens and 7 titanspawn. Meanwhile, the Horde also has 2 space aliens but only 1 titanspawn. So really, the Horde is the faction that's more native to Azeroth while the Alliance is the invaders. Form a certain point of view.

@@joshualastimosa5713 that's actually true. In lore it says that the Titans are too strong and will destroy the azeroth if they will try themselves. They understood that by killing 1 oldgod and ripping a hole in Azeroth. So they made an army instead to fight for them.
Pretty sure the Titans could but they didn't because the old gods had attached themselves to the growing titan inside Azeroth because apparently all planets are titan eggs???? Also something to take note of the guardians left behind aside from dragon aspects actually possess titan powers which the new races of Azeroth gained from their machines who were turned into people so it's not as far fetched as one might think.
My brother literally asked me why we could but the titans couldn't three days ago. I just said because we are most definitely more powerful then a titan
The Titans could most definitely kill the old gods, one of them rips Y'shaarj out of the world like a parasite but they realise that if they did that they would kill the world soul. The Sha in Pandaria is the remnants of Y'shaarj.

That started right around when all the original creators of the warcraft universe started leaving & Blizzard merged with Activision. AKA, it's the shameless corporate money generator that's used in basically every industry. Marvel is the exact same.
True. It goes from fresh, original, and interesting stories - to "Timetravel" and every defeated villain randomly coming back. Everything after Mists of Pandaria was fucking awful and made no sense.
Earlier warcraft was simple and easy to follow. Later it got more and more convoluted and entangled, but that only makes it more interesting - it still makes sense once you take in all the sources like the novels and the chronicles as well as what you learn ingame. Everything new keeps adding to previous loose ends. The unfortunate thing is that you need those external sources to make sense of it all, they fill in the blanks the game does a poor job telling you about.
@@SaltyMaud wrong. Earlier on the game was much more difficult and hard to experience. There was no looking for raid - no raid book telling you about all the bosses and their abilities - there were way more stats - and you get the do long attunement quests about the lore of the raid before you even entered it. The lore was brilliant too - with very little of that ridiculous nonsensical and illogical time travel bullshit. Modern Wow is a streamlined joke and caricature of what it used to be.
@@FrankLucas-pw5hs I was talking warcraft, which includes wow, but is not limited to it. From 1994 to maybe the second or third book of the world of warcraft series, though the war of the ancients trilogy already did a bunch of world building most are totally oblivious to. I'm talking about keeping track of the different threads that make up the story and explain the characters, conflicts and their motivations, i never commented on the game. Early warcraft story was pretty typical fantasy orcs humans elves stuff that didn't go down too many layers to keep it easy to follow. Later warcraft story, and lore that was tacked on keeps adding more and more layers and connecting different threads to the point where most players have no fucking clue about what's going on, who the characters are, what their motivations are, what lead to the events we are seeing in game and why we are even doing what we are doing. But the information is out there, you just need to care enough to look for it. Nothing written so far is strictly against the rules of the warcraft universe, especially since the rules aren't firmly established and they are added on as we go. Why are you even bringing up the game, we were never talking about the game. I thought the "vanilla was hard" meme had already died now that people can relive old game on classic anyway.

@@SaturnYoshi I always felt it was their massive size, basically the difference of trying to remove a bullet from a wound with a scalpel (we the "Children of Azeroth") vs using one of those drills you drive around with in construction sites (The Titans)
"Because reasons" is the legendary weapon that can pierce plot armor. There must be a weapon like that In Game with transcendental stats.
I thought it was a widely known fact that the "old gods" that we killed were just Avatars and their real, gigantic bodies are still trapped beneath the ground/sea
I enjoyed this so much. I was laughing and saying Yep through the whole video.
Also he did in 23 minutes what I've been trying to explain to someone who started in Pandaria and Ive been playing since vanilla! Thank goodness for the share button
I played until Cata, quit, then JUST NOW came back after my boss all but insisted I play with him. WHAT. THE ACTUAL. FUCK. DID THEY. DO?! What the HELL is going on here?! I am so lost it beggars belief!
@@Archris17 Lol! The game has changed quite a bit and will take some getting use to as you quit so long ago. Almost everyone is enjoying dragon flying (not me you'll find me face planting mountain after mountain or going splat on a building or tree) as it's a freebie at max level. Stick with it lol This video gets you through the lore so that's a plus.
This amazing video actually does something incredible... it lets you feel the exact moment the warcraft lore writers went "yeah... fuck it"
In wod? 😂

Hmm couldn't have anything to do with activision .....or you know everyone who created WoW being gone...🤷♀️ this video is hilarious and informative though. I enjoyed it
I think bfa was pretty cool with the whole sylvanas thing but why did the horde even go to zandalar in the first place:/ cant remember

what is the next secret ingredient going to be? gae?
Great summary. One thing, though: Illidan wasn't imprisoned in Outlands, he was killed. In Legion the players go through a lenghty mission to ressurrect him and almost fail.
well, yes and no. He was killed but he can't be killed. As a half-demon, his soul is immortal just like all other demons, it went to the Twisting Nether where he could have resurrected himself. However, because the wardens imprisoned his physical body, he was unable to do that, which was their point. That's why Gul'dan stole his body and why we had to get it back before he could be resurrected.
“Anduin is now king of the alliance and also kinda hot” lol
Easily one of the best WoW videos ever
watched it a couple of times. its so great. I wish he would make an updated version of it
I've played Warcraft 2 and 3, WoW, watched the cinematics, some of the movie, played Hearthstone, etc. And this video managed to explain everything I didnt understand in 23 minutes. *Legendary!*
Heartstone isnt exactly lore accurate
@@ekroizm I figured as much lol, I was trying to clarify that I basically did way too many things "WoW" related!
I've only played BoA and seen a few older cinematics. This video taught me that history repeats itself and Illidan is super old.

I have spend years learning world of warcraft history, but this video... It's just pure gold. Great work, really had lots of fun watching it and its quite accurate!

Champions of Azeroth: it’s murder time
I gotta get new pants!
That's it, that's the whole story line.
I like how the latest patch takes 2 seconds to finish.
8.3 is unquestionably one of the worse patches in this game's history, lore and gameplay wise. It's on par with selfie patch.
Took him longer to recap it than it took them to make it.
@@gerardlacroix6015 in 10.0 the main enemies would probably be the Armies of the Light
It's been two years, so some addendums:
The Death Dimension is being terrorized by a big angry bald maned called The Jailer who wants to enslave everyone for some reason.
Just started playing WoW... Much needed. Thank you. Now to watch it like 3 more times to absorb everything properly.
I was following along great for around the first 3/4 of it and then they time traveled for the second time and everything got really confusing.
Same
I mean at this point WoWs story goes on for the sake of going on.
I got around half the video before getting confused
I love time travel stories and that was just confusing crap. I guess they ran out of ideas or got lazy and decided to bring back old characters for profit, but didn't work well so they tried something even more radically stupid with the jailer.
@@Mediados It's nice
I love how the players just instantly stomp everyone.
I like that the artistic representation of Azeroth looks like a Troll, considering Trolls are pretty much the "most native" species of the planet.
At least of the sentient races
Yeah, it’s one of the big reasons I liked it too! It was done by Hipnosworld over on deviantart and used with their permission!
Honestly "In a stunning display of nepotism" is the best line in this entire video, and there are some serious winners
I was a big fan of "because without magic, Wizards are just frail nerds"

"the mages (of dalaran) don't like that as without magic wizards are just frail nerds"
"we can kill old gods, but the titans can't because REASONS" LMAOOOOO
Hahah maybe the titans are just too powerful, might overkill azeroth xD

I just realized : Warcraft universe is basically DC and Marvel in not letting a character stay dead
As a DM you know that you dont wanna waste a good antagonist. Its hard to let your favorite characters go XD
That started right around when all the original creators of the warcraft universe started leaving & Blizzard merged with Activision. AKA, it's the shameless corporate money generator that's used in basically every industry. Marvel is the exact same.
8:55 "GREAT work, Khadgar." the laden sarcasm gave me a chuckle
First half was great, second half sounds like blizzard just started talking out of their ass
True. It goes from fresh, original, and interesting stories - to "Timetravel" and every defeated villain randomly coming back. Everything after Mists of Pandaria was fucking awful and made no sense.
@@FrankLucas-pw5hs Agree i feel like at Lich king everything goes to this cookie cutter linear hollywood script that every movie has nowadays
