@@Biouke “inappropriate” sure. But that’s kinda the point. It’s just ONE, purposefully lewd, line in a massive game. I don’t think anybody heard that and thought stalking is good or developed a fear of being stalked.
@@TheLegoJungle Agree, thought if I put myself in the shoes of someone who may have had been stalked/harassed I can see that particular line bringing unease, to say the least. I think referencing things like that which happen in the real world and are not funny at all is a bit overboard and insensitive. It's the kind of joke you can make when you know people are ok with it but you would avoid it if you knew someone in the room was an actual victim of stalking, so I would avoid putting it in a PG13 game even if in the end that's pretty inoffensive ;) To summarize, no problem with kinky/dirty jokes, but referencing actual criminal acts is not funny to everyone.
I believe that talking about and representing things like this is important if we want to educate people to not do them. Everyone needs to have an opportunity to make up real opinions on the matter, instead of someone just telling you "that is bad". For example, a kid might act inappropriately towards a girl, which will then tell him that she doesn't like him. The kid feels hurt and avoids the behavior in the future. However if a teacher had just told him "don't stalk girls" without the prior experience, then it wouldn't have as big of an impact. I understand that speaking of stalking will hurt some people that have been affected by it. But these people must learn to eventually come to terms with what happened (they can take their time), because you can't expect the whole world to come to a single person's terms. Especially since representing the concept of stalking and other difficult subjects (without shying away) in media is vital to making people become more compassionate towards each other.
@@Ravagerblade Yeah, it’s especially infuriating, because Blizzard will take away their player’s ability to make flirty jokes, and then turn around to literally beat and r*pe their employees. Bunch of cruel, lying hypocrites is what they are.

@@Roflstab I mean: Is it a coincidence that 'Shadowlands' released during 14's 'Shadowbringers' ? At this point, Blizzard will just try everything possible to somehow, no matter positive or negative, stay relevant in today's gaming environment. They really just don't care about anything but money anymore, and as long as people will still stay subscribed to the current mess of a live service WoW is, it will make them money and forced 6+ months subs and more and more paid services in combination with stuff like allied races and store mounts will sadly be enough to cover their loss of players to at least some extent. Blizzard is a corpse of what it once used to be and at this point, I do not believe there is a way to save WoW. You can still use the /flirt emote, its not the end of the world. Also, by remocing some emotes blizzard is not saving anything. Ifk why people act like that. Only thing I'm curious about is how you went about actually hearing these lines ingame (as someone who doesn't play WoW). These are some pretty good/bad/hilarious lines and it's sad that instead of focusing on the real issue, they're "sanitizing" their games. A bunch of scandalous pick up lines in a video game wasn't the problem, and removing them is just making everyone angrier.
You would type /flirt and your character would randomly pick from the pool of voice lines to say which were unique for the PC's race and gender. Other PCs in the same faction would also be able to hear the voice line if they were physically nearby.

"Um. . .You look like a lady." Ah yes Blizzard, that was definitely one of the lines you had to delete to save your image. As if there's any saving it.
It's how it always goes. Instead of people actually addressing the problems, they do things like this which the bare minimum. Change McCree's name and getting rid of bad flirts/jokes isn't going to make a better work environment.
Say it with me now folks. "PERFORMATIVE ACTIVISM!" These flirt lines had nothing to do with what's happening. Just shows that they really blame the playerbase instead of taking accountability.
Not even entirely performative, these people likely believe these flirts are harmful because they're mostly Male/Female straight relationship jokes, the people who removed these jokes are likely the SAME people who were outside protesting their own company when the lawsuits dropped and they are also the reason the games have been shit and they now have a stronger foothold than ever. They're not going anywhere but up in that company now.
@@ZodaSoda That is indeed very sad. There's not a single developer out there that truly doesn't care and just spears on whatever the feck comes out of their minds...

Every now and then I think about WoW and returning, natural I suppose after playing it for over a decade. It's occasional reminders like this that help me keep firm to the realization that the Blizzard I knew is long dead and the corpse paraded around is too rotten to keep pretending. Classic was tempting, but even then they've censored themselves there too so there's no point.
I gave retail another chance and regretted it. the new expansion had such great design potential but feels completely soulless. decided to get my money's worth by leveling a toon through burning crusade before I quit again
Surprising I actually find the flirt lines kinda fun, the innuendo is bad and outdated, but I really don't see it nessicary to pull these lines beyond the clear fact that the devs wrote them and that just doesn't help the image they're trying to shake, the joke lines are something else
It's not necessary at all. It's a tone-deaf attempt to score brownie points with the perpetually offended and to change the dialogue from "we abused and discriminated our staff for years on end" to "we here at (company) stand for (current-day feel-good buzzwords), look how virtuous we are!" To this moment. TO THIS MOMENT I was sure that the "afraid of snakes" joke was a relic of the dawn of WoW and refers to Druids of the Fang (snake druids). Silly me...
Well... it **was** a reference to the Druids of the Fang, but since snake is now(and was back then, but shhh) synonymous with penis(audience gasp), it had to be removed because the ass-holes had penises(probably).
Seems silly to have removed all of these, they're just a bit of cheesy fun. If it had been stamped "for all ages" I'd say it was inappropriate, but it's PG13 - a solid 15 in certain areas, it's fine.
Right? It is not like half of their games are riddled with annoying bugs and lack of content, which should have been fucking fixed years ago... oh wait, that is exactly what they are.

@@TheLegoJungle Agree, thought if I put myself in the shoes of someone who may have had been stalked/harassed I can see that particular line bringing unease, to say the least. I think referencing things like that which happen in the real world and are not funny at all is a bit overboard and insensitive. It's the kind of joke you can make when you know people are ok with it but you would avoid it if you knew someone in the room was an actual victim of stalking, so I would avoid putting it in a PG13 game even if in the end that's pretty inoffensive ;)
To summarize, no problem with kinky/dirty jokes, but referencing actual criminal acts is not funny to everyone.
Most lines: *general innuendos*
Pandaren: Wanna try *breeding* in captivity?

@@Lowdian I know it is, obviously it is, but it also quite literally suggests the one saying it wants to kidnap and r* the one he's saying it to.
@@davidbodor1762 Well, sure, you could interpret it in such a way, but when the intention for the joke was clearly another, why would you choose to?
Because that's the thing, the author's intention is extemely clear, so much so that there is no need for any other interpretation, so why do it anyways? Specially when it leads to an offensive one?
@@Lowdian Because that's the literal interpretation? It IS a reference, sure, but if you just take the literal words it very much means that.
Authorial intent often doesn't matter, but also this is blizzard, assuming authorial intent is not a good idea given what's been going on there...
"Having me is like having two guys in one" what? That's... not even sexual. That's a borderline wholesome werewolf joke wtf
Keanu chungus wholesome 100
@Dephraction what are you even implying?
@Dephraction they're just deleting things in batch, not cherry picking what to remove
@@RTMaster1 That the people making these decisions are a bunch of perverts who don't even understand what the actual problem was.
@@phir9255 If that was true they would have removed /flirt altogether, not picked out specific voice lines to remove.
I realized they actually removed all worgen flirts, that makes sense.
Why?
