Glad youre okay, but you didnt have to push the engine so far. What you need to do is sell your own turbo kit for the n52 since you know what is needed. There are alot of n52 owners that want to put a turbo but if there was a complete kit that retains the ac then you would make alot of sales. Just a thought and good luck with the car.
Need an update, this is by far the coolest build I've seen. I just got a e90 330 and kinda settled on the fact that it would never be fast, but I think I'm gonna start a savings now lol car looked super clean before the accident
This is So sad😢 I've been following the progress of this car for years. Love all the dedication and time you've put into the car. Can't wait to see this car brought back to life
U inspired me and so many other ppl to build n52 man you should be proud. Only wish you’d reveal what’s done but it’s understandable great build nonetheless. ❤
Jayson so sorry about the whip bro, really I am you give me hope for my 328. I really, really, really, really hope you put out more videos about the it.
Just got a e90 n52, was thinking about building a turbo n52 since i have a spare. But from what every thread ive gone threw people domt recommend turbocharging the n52. Since you threw a rod looks as if those blocks can handle some boost, jist not the rods lol
When you was running only 10 psi how was it? What problems u had? And what preventative maintenance u did? And sick build I personally wouldn’t run that much boost in a bmw but you got way more money than me so you can have wayyy more fun!
I’ve heard the weak point is where the wrist pin attaches to the piston. And 19psi is about the most you can go safely without bowing anything up or getting head lift. Still very robust for an engine that was never meant to be turbo charged. How much power were you making before she blew?
Actually made 569hp and 500tq to the wheels @18psi, but have ran it as high as 25psi. I regularly ran it at 20psi for years. It does slightly lift the head around 20psi, but was never enough to blow the head gasket. I eventually blew a piston ring land and then snapped a rod a while after that. Never failed directly at the wrist pin. I was theoretically making around 650 wheel hp @25psi. So I figure theoretically the engine limit is around 750hp flywheel using a 15% drive train loss. Not bad for an engine designed for 240hp. 🤷🏽♂️
What are the n52s limitations? Is the new engine stock or is it sleeved or something? Please document your build that would be awesome to see. Are you on the forums at all?
Looks like the connecting rod limit is around 650hp. New engine is still stock. Yes, definitely documenting everything. I'm on the forums every once and while. This build is pretty well documented on the forums a couple years ago. I believe E90 post?
Bro I need some updates on that N52 please!! You changed my mind on boosting my 07 E83. I've done soo much research and you sir did an amazing job building that Thang lol. Did you have forged Rods and Pistons too handle all that power?
Hi friend. I plan to put a turbine like you from my n52b30 272 hp! Please help me figure out the nuances of what to buy, how to set it up !! maybe you have an article on the forum how to do this. I would love to receive information! please
What is going on with the project? Also could you please share a picture/video of your exhaust headers? Thinking about a build myself, but on smaller turbo maybe AR 0.82 or 0.63 even so it can pick up earlier.
I'm trying to find your thread with the parts list, did you end up using your original intake manifold or convert to n54 intake? I have a 330 with the 2 DISA flaps, I suspect these would probably explode the moment you force air into them
Used original intake manifold. Yeah not really sure how those disa valves would react to boost. At the least I would make sure those valves are in good shape. They are known to fall apart over time without boost. Probably would make more bottom end power with them. I have more detailed information on the forums. www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1223874
So it is possible to run boost on a stock 2007 328i? Because I hear all the time that the block can’t handle power (boost) at all, because it’s a magnesium composite block. Can you elaborate?
Yes very possible. People talk alot of "BS" without actually trying it... or without actually knowing what that are talking about. The block is both magnesium and aluminium. It's internally aluminum surrounded by magnesium. So theoretically should handle as much as any other aluminum block with the same configuration. I have proven the block itself can withstand over 600hp... the connecting rods and the pistons on the other hand are riding on the edge @600hp. I believe the block will handle over 900hp with the correct head and crank studs and even more with cryogenic treatments..
Jayson Punancy. Thanks for the update, I really wanted to either turbo or supercharge my 2007 328i. After seeing your success it gives me more hope that I can do such a configuration. :)
Magnesium alloy is stronger than aluminum, not just lighter, it has one of the highest strength to weight ratios of any metal. Most companies don’t use it because of its potential for corrosion but that’s the only con. N52 doesn’t have as robust internals as the n54 (rods, crank, and pistons) but everything is a lot lighter weight.
Nice. Manifold was custom made using some parts from the stock manifolds. N54 bolt up is a little different. Wouldn't work anyway because of A/C compressor location.
@@jaysonpunancy4144 Yeah i figured about the n54, was thinking buying aftermarket headers and cutting them maybe, so i guess if you made one with the oem one you did a V bend type i thinks thats how im gonna do it !
Yes. I bit long to list here. I have listed most all the information on bimmer forums. I'm sure if you search my user name "DigiDon" you should be able to find all the info.
Was pushing around 650 to 700 flywheel. The block and crank don't show any signs of premature wear, so that seems to be the limitations of the connecting rods.
Seyfettin Zorbey people push 10lbs and make like 350hp to the wheels People say that the block can take more but around 13lbs the stock tranny and dif start to max out
Hey brother is there anyway we can get in contact maybe a email? I have so many questions I have my turbo and many things on their way rn I have a N51 with a lower compression should this hold up just as much as the N52? And also were you able to keep your A/C by going top mount turbo? I'm currently getting a top mount manifold made
Orginally did it to avoid direct injection and high pressure fuel pump headaches. Now it's just different and actually pound for pound turned out to be more powerful than an N54 is.
Nooo, I’m sorry bro! Can’t wait to see the progress you make while re building it. I’ll for sure stay for the ride
Don’t give up bro. He’s a hero 😭
Glad to hear this car is making a return!!

N52 turbo 🤩🥳🤘🏽
Man i'm sorry to know that happened to you, it's sad, I hope you can continue with your goals, that is a great build. I hope I can reach that too.

Hey man I have an 2011 328 I’m looking on slapping a turbo on it but it’s auto would you recommend?
I probably would not recommend any kind of power on that auto tranny. Although I really don't know what they are capable of.
Who made your turbo manifold man. I’ve been looking for so long pls let me know
I built the manifold. I did all the custom work and tuning in house.
Jayson Punancy would you ever sell the exhaust manifold you have now?
Hey ....what turbo kit you used
I got a 328 two months ago. I wanna turbo it but I’m not sure what all I need to know, any pointers?
Takes alot. Not easy on this engine. Tuning is the most important part..
Did you have to upgrade the injectors?
Howd you perform the turbo install /setup on n52?
Yo how much power were you pushing. Got to get a rough estimate for safe power levels
