I don't think the e92 in this race was driven right. The launch control was bad on these and they need to be driven in simply manual M mode with DCT. 12.6 is easily possible Also the character, sound and everything is so goooood. 6yrs of ownership and I smile everyday I drive my @com3t_m3 Even today I get the respectable nod from car enthusiasts. Would love to see the E46 CSL ( manual gearbox is an aftermarket option, saving 30kg and the 20bhp power loss) VS a E92 M3. See Harry's Garage for Manual E46 CSL
@@BETNCORT Guess it's just my opinion having owned all the M3s from E46 onwards, i find the E92 the clumpiest and least "M3" out of the lot. But heaps of people love them. That generation DCT is pretty awful too! That e92 needs a driver mod Edit: y’all love explaining stories why about the e92 power band and n54 this and 335 that… I know. I don’t care. All I said was it needed a driver mod. I didn’t say it was the fastest best bmw ever.
Honestly they are just a bit underwhelming, I've been a passenger in one with my mate giving it some and I was thinking to myself that my f30 335d feels quicker. I know my 335d is not actually quicker but It definitely pushes you back in your seat more and just feels more aggressive .
Naturally aspirated engines, you need to rev the hell out of the e92 v8 to get peak power, sometimes folks start from too low revs when downshifting while it should be starting ideal from 5k band
I agree with Mat, the E46 is the coolest M3 of all. I just love the unfussy, timeless look of it - feels like it would still be cool in another 20 years. And I'm really surprised at how much quicker it is than the E36, because on paper it doesn't look like there's that much between them.
Love that Matt’s favorite is the E46, it did really well and was nice to see it being a driver with 150,000 miles. About to hit 190,000 miles on mine. There’s so much to love about them.
Totally! That's why I chose an f82 over the G series. Well, also because the G's are ridiculously priced 🥶,and I don't think are worth that much - not far off supercar territory!

@@armandomarquez2517 Everything. Well balanced, plenty of power through the entire RPM band, handles well, not overly digital like most modern cars, and most importantly is the value you get for the performance. The one downside is the cost of maintenance.

I owned an e92 and they are NOT that tough to launch. Matt does an exceptional job of launching (all his practice), but the e92 driver did exceptionally poor (shifting was terrible too). I am not trying to be critical or mean...but come on 🤣
I am a MBoy for life, I have owned several M3 since 1999 when I bought my first e36 M3. This by far is my favorite video you have ever done. I would love to own 1 of each one day.
Videos never convey them. When you hear one, I think it's one of the most distinctive and recognisable engine noises from production cars you'll actually see on the road. Outside of the car, it's alright. But even better than just hearing one, inside with open windows... the induction noise, the tapping of the mechanical monster in front as the deep bellowing ramps up to the vibrating tin can rhapsody. Fucking visceral on all your senses. I love people who don't really know what the car is like when they get a lift. Due to the double vanos, its so tame and quiet in normal conditions, but you get a chance to absolutely slam it in it's 2nd gear powerband and it just goes from zero to violent in a split second.
Love them all couldn’t decide between them as growing up as a kid big fan of the E46 an teenage years seeing the E92 an adult life the F80 an now the current present G80 such a hard choice all are Perfect! I say that obviously as a M fan boy, would be dream to own one inshallah one day 🤞
The F80 has been my daily driver for the last 3 years and I’m still in love with it like the first day. I’m glad the G80 is so hideous, otherwise I probably would’ve upgraded and that would’ve been a mistake.
I've owned both the e92 and the f80 m3 at the same time. I feel like the e92 had the best engine, while the f80 was the pinnacle of design. The e46 was always a bucket list car, and the origional was an unattainable dream car.
I’m so happy to see people finally coming around on the F80. I have the CS, and intend on collecting it, and I’ve got nothing but good things to say about it. I take it back out on the road tomorrow, and I can’t wait!
I swear no one had a problem with the F80? The current gen has had loads of backlash and is admittedly ugly as fuck but I never recall the F80 having that reception on launch? (wouldnt have been deserved anyway)
The E36 M3 has always been my favorite for its looks. I own the 328i coupe with M package more options. I never thought of buying 36 m3, because it has chronic problems with the permanent vanos system or different itb. It is possible to give these malfunctions as a result of a few hard use. As with the e36 m3 in the video, the fabricated best engine option for the e36 is the m52b28. You get more efficiency by making small modifications.
Great video! Back in my younger years I bought an E30 M3 with 20k miles on it (pictured in my profile) and drove it for well over a decade racking up 330k miles on her, pure joy. Test drove the US spec E36, a major disappointment and later E46 which was a huge improvement. The E30 remained a pure joy to drive, especially on GT courses, the thing handled like a go kart. Long live the BMW M3!
Surprised at the gap between the E36 and E46 as I had an E36 and it was just as quick as the E46 (tested several times). Looking at an F80 as my next car so happy with its showing here. Amazing how far cars have come since the E30.
Looking for that comment, that 402m time is really bad for a e36. I drove a 14 in my tuned 328 :p must have been something wrong with the car or driver
Totally agree with Matt the E46 is the best M3. In fact I believe it was the best 3 series period. The E92 never made the claimed 414 on the dyno so no wonder it loses the 1/4 mile. Loved my E46 330ci as was only a fraction slower than the M3 in real world scenarios. The full vs half tank is probably the difference between the F and G generations as stated😊
The 330 Ci is what made me fall in love with the e46. But definitely look up drivetrain loss and you’ll see why most cars don’t make crank power at the wheels.
This E92 was running a second slower in the quarter mile than other stock E92s. The difference between the E46 and E92 M3's is about a second on the quarter mile which is the same as the difference between the E92 and F80.
As the proud owner of a 2004 m3 for 19 years. I can honestly say she puts a smile on my face every time I driver her. With 152k miles she has never left me stranded once. A true masterpiece

The F80 is my favourite M3. Personally i think its the best combination between looks and performance
The E92 was a special, special car in its day. I’ve never owned one (I’ve owned a standard 1999 E39 BMW 520i) but I’ve been in one as a passenger and it’s speed stunned me. This was back in 2008 when it was new. The E92 will always be my favourite- in my opinion it’s certainly the best sounding M3 in fact the best sounding car I’ve ever heard in my life. What a car!!!.
Yep.. I’ve had a lot of time in the e92. It’s very special. I also drove a 600hp supercharged e92 and my lord… perfection!
I don't think the e92 in this race was driven right. The launch control was bad on these and they need to be driven in simply manual M mode with DCT. 12.6 is easily possible
Also the character, sound and everything is so goooood. 6yrs of ownership and I smile everyday I drive my @com3t_m3
Even today I get the respectable nod from car enthusiasts. Driven the M2 comp, f89 M3 comp too which were all quick...but lacked the excitement the E92 got

The change in grille from the M3 F80 to the G80 is unreal.
You mean the M5 f90 or the M3 f80?
It kicks the privilege out of being ugly.
@@JakeBM4 M3 F80 thanks the correction

The grill on the G80 looks so aggressive and unique.
Matt is becoming a living automated gearbox shifting these manuals 😂
E92 driver let us down
Would love to see a race with all manual examples
Would love to see the E46 CSL ( manual gearbox is an aftermarket option, saving 30kg and the 20bhp power loss) VS a E92 M3.
See Harry's Garage for Manual E46 CSL
Matt should drive the e92…
Don't blame the driver... e92 is by far the worse M3 (still good)
@@den_525 what makes you say that ??...i really think otherwise
@@BETNCORT Guess it's just my opinion having owned all the M3s from E46 onwards, i find the E92 the clumpiest and least "M3" out of the lot. But heaps of people love them. That generation DCT is pretty awful too! Haven't quite perfected it back then... and as you can see it's slower than the previous generation in a straight line, and didn't handle anywhere near the E46 either.
That e92 needs a driver mod
Edit: y’all love explaining stories why about the e92 power band and n54 this and 335 that… I know. I don’t care. All I said was it needed a driver mod. I didn’t say it was the fastest best bmw ever.

E36 also😅
@@anilmuldur3108+e36 probably had broken vanos, it was unbelievably slow
Honestly they are just a bit underwhelming, I've been a passenger in one with my mate giving it some and I was thinking to myself that my f30 335d feels quicker. I know my 335d is not actually quicker but It definitely pushes you back in your seat more and just feels more aggressive .
Naturally aspirated engines, you need to rev the hell out of the e92 v8 to get peak power, sometimes folks start from too low revs when downshifting while it should be starting ideal from 5k band
Tell the driver in e92 to return his driving license.
I agree with Mat, the E46 is the coolest M3 of all. I just love the unfussy, timeless look of it - feels like it would still be cool in another 20 years. And I'm really surprised at how much quicker it is than the E36, because on paper it doesn't look like there's that much between them.
as a BMW fanboy, this race warms my heart M3s are gorgeous creations
As a diehard fan of LoveLive, NFS, and Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, i love those BMW M3s especially the E46 and E92 M3s.
I know exactly what u mean 😅
Love that Matt’s favorite is the E46, it did really well and was nice to see it being a driver with 150,000 miles. About to hit 190,000 miles on mine. There’s so much to love about them.

The paint job on the f80 comp is insane
San Marino Blue, it's amazing.
F80's got to be the best M3 for me. Absolute bomb of a design.
Too bad they followed that up with such a trainwreck design wise
Yup they fucked up. Not a german design its China design...

I've owned both and the gap between them is actually pretty big. Not sure what was going on in this race.
E36 and E46 were my attainable dream cars as a teen. I love the design of both cars but the S54 with a carbon airbox just sounds so good.

it’s his job lol that type of experience behind the wheel of all these high performance cars is enough to get you pro level
Was thinking that. In that last race he was absolutely on it launching the E46. Made me think in the E92 probably would've crushed it

What do you love most about your F80 bro?
@@armandomarquez2517 Everything. Well balanced, plenty of power through the entire RPM band, handles well, not overly digital like most modern cars, and most importantly is the value you get for the performance. The one downside is the cost of maintenance.
@Javier Fernandez great explanation! I've had mine for a month so far what have you spent on maintenance if you don't mind me asking?.
@@armandomarquez2517 Tires roughly $2k. Valve Cover Gasket $2500. Brakes front and back including rotors $1300. There was an intercooler as well, but I can't remember what that cost. I'm currently sitting at 60k miles. All of those expenses came after 50k miles.
Matt’s one good driver 👍🏼 I don’t get how the e92 lost all 3 lol
Dude can‘t shift
Bad tires and a bad driver, its a shame cause it shouldve done way better
I owned an e92 and they are NOT that tough to launch. Matt does an exceptional job of launching (all his practice), but the e92 driver did exceptionally poor (shifting was terrible too). I am not trying to be critical or mean...but come on 🤣
Yeah e92 driver was terrible. I've raced e46 in my e92 off the lights and did win.
And I reckon that E46 is tuned . 13.3s is unbelievable for the E46 (as is 13.6 for the E92). In real life the E46 doesn't stand a chance.
F80 is absolutely gorgeous. I test drove one that was a sort of dark grey and had the carbon fiber package. Beautiful car.
that f80 is beautiful with that wrap🔥😩
I am a MBoy for life, I have owned several M3 since 1999 when I bought my first e36 M3. This by far is my favorite video you have ever done. I would love to own 1 of each one day.
As a previous owner of an e46 it's my all time favourite car I've owned. Amazing sounding car on full tilt.
Great aren’t they. Replaced mine with the v8 m3 and regretted it so much
Videos never convey them.
My dream car, the E92 is something special💯🙌
There will never be a bmw that looks as good as the F80 I just want it sooo bad

The E36 M3 has always been my favorite for its looks. I own the 328i coupe with M package more options. I never thought of buying 36 m3, because it has chronic problems with the permanent vanos system or different itb. It is possible to give these malfunctions as a result of a few hard use. As with the e36 m3 in the video, the fabricated best engine option for the e36 is the m52b28. You get more efficiency by making small modifications.

The E30 M3 will forever have my heart.
I don’t know why that dappy cow is so proud of winning when she had the most powerful car by a long way
Love the driver of E30. Man was just happy to be driving his car and it was so funny to hear him say that 😂
I belive it was Mick Schumacher or Arthur Leclerc driving the E30.
Surprised at the gap between the E36 and E46 as I had an E36 and it was just as quick as the E46 (tested several times). Looking at an F80 as my next car so happy with its showing here. Amazing how far cars have come since the E30.

Exactly, especially in rolling race they are neck and neck so looks like the e36 here is another one with vanos rebuild long overdue
Looking for that comment, that 402m time is really bad for a e36. I drove a 14 in my tuned 328 :p must have been something wrong with the car or driver
Anything with Jodie Kidd thrashing around in cars, is definitely worth watching… her enthusiasm makes the world a happier place….
Man I'm in love with the f80's. So damn clean. 🥶
The fuel difference basically 26ish KG so nothing really
The e46 330ci was quite a bit more than a fraction slower than the m3😂😂
The best 3 series is the current one. Has so much potential in it. With a slight tune they run low 10s. Insane.
This E92 was running a second slower in the quarter mile than other stock E92s. The difference between the E46 and E92 M3's is about a second on the quarter mile which is the same as the difference between the E92 and F80.
A moment of salute to the editor who is handed 15 SD cards to stitch together👏
So pleasantly surprised at the E46. Didnt expect that at all. Fast old beauty! 🎉❤
