Hey Cameron thanks for making a video on our N52 Turbo kit! We hope it wasn’t to difficult to install as clearances are definitely tight when you add so much into a small area! In terms of your oil feed if you switch it go the other way around you will notice more slack in the line (90° toward the T and straight to the turbo). Excited to see how it ends up running and to see some track driving with it!
Thanks! I ended up just getting a 45⁰ for the oil feed. I think I lost a fitting because it was too low for the pressure sensor to fit the other way as it is on your demo car. May change it in the future.
@Moon-Garage hey man I got a question here for you. If you where to do this on a manual does the engine block to thermostat line just bolt on or is there special things you would need to do to get it on I plan on buying this for my e90 build but don't have that piece cause it's a manual thanks
@kingsworthygaming825 the kit will come with extra stuff /all the parts you need when you select a manual car. I believe an oem auto line will come in the kit if you select a manual car before checkout.
Is the harmonic balancer / crankshaft drive pulley. This is the wheel that sends power to the belt to spin all the other accessories. Here are the oem part #s 11237516385, 11237546108, 11237564969 It's about $122 on FCP euro.
I will absolutely NOT be doing this, more power to you but making this work looks like hell but you seem to be level headed I hope to see some pulls 🤝🤝
1. i wish i owned a car at your age 2. i wish i owned a cool car at your age 3. i wish i had the knowledge to do this at your age 4. i wish i had the systems in place around me to do all the above
DUDE! It's like I'm looking in to a mirror in 2002! You are amazing young fella! Keep going and be curious as an Engineer and inventor. Better to ask for forgiveness than BEG for permission my brother! Peace, Love and Enlightenment from Western Australia 🥰😃😃😃😃😃😃
Im not sure if the n52 has any forged internals like the n54. But I do know that boosting a car that was not manufactured for boost is a labor of love & absolutely not cost effective. The limited power you can make just dosent justify the dollars youll spend IMO. But building, tuning, modifying any car or cars in general is not exactly a wise investment for most of us. We do it because we like doing it. Cost be damned! 😒 to an extent.. So keep on building brotha. Cant wait to see the final product...
You can get custom sized forged internals for anything. It will just be expensive. But yes, lots of give and take when picking a car and building it😂 Thank you!
I got it on sale for just over 5k. On all m3 suspension and I'd say it beats the n54 in reliability so I'd be saving there too😂 also paying 328i family sedan insurance.
I was thinking about doing this to my n52 or was thinking about supercharging it as I know quite a few people pulling 600hp with the ess supercharger. Is the power gain from this kit worth the effort, or should I go the supercharged route
@Automotivestyle_jdm not sure about 600hp on stock internals. At least for long. I've seen people blow up between 14psi and 20psi. I plan to stay around 13 or 14 which should make around 500wheel.
@christopherweinert9935 I'm not too sure. As far as I know, it should. Maybe message Eurocan Racing and ask to be sure. For good NA power, do all the maintenance and bolt ons, then personally I think the best performance mod is weight reduction.
Just got into cars not too long ago I got a 528i I like my car would like to keep it but turbo it and stuff. This is pretty helpful and wish I found you sooner
why am i watching this? i'll never be able to do this myself and idek how to ask a mechanic to do this.. i feel like they'd just laugh at me or think i'm being rude. ( not that I can afford to pay someone to do it )
You'll figure it out. Once you start to understand basics, everything else comes easy. Just dont start with a full turbo kit. Do small stuff first and get better. When you do big hard jobs, the hardest part is starting it. All in all, it's not too hard or bad. Just take your time.
3 years ago I didn’t even know how to turn a wrench, now I’m pulling the manual tranny out of my e90 n52 and looking at turbo builds. This definitely is doable and not all that hard, just a lil time consuming that’s all
If you don't mind me asking but why all the hassle where you can just get N54 and do single turbo kit for cheap and easier to work on? But yes this is really cool to see what N52 can do.. .I used to own e92 328i then bought 335i and have owned 3 n54's in my life time lol.
I'll do a video on why a 328i sometime, but in short, reliability, certain characteristics that the n52 has over the n54 (like compression) and cost. Also, it's all for a purpose. N54 can make good big power, but to drivers that care about more than a straight line, big power is not always what you want, not saying that you can't do a fbo 335 and have a great track car.
Very well detailed write up/video. After watching this im leaning more and more to a rear mount set up. There is so much room where the factory muffler goes and the turbo really dosent help with a allready cramped engine bay
I agree. I'm hoping ECR makes a bottom mount. 4N motorsports makes a bottom mount and its equal length, but it's about $6k just for the manifold and turbo. Not worth that.
@@Moon-Garage I'm a welder/fab guy so ill be making my own manifolds & intake pipes at the very least. If I can make the finished product with enough quality that I am OK with putting my name on it in the public space I will probably put it up for sale in small batches. Hopfully by this time next year I will be done building my shop and have my hoist set up so I can get started on the actual fun part. I don't see why I wouldent be able to make a quality kit with everything but turbo for around 2k
@michaelthompson7004 Those videos will be out as soon as the tune is done! It's been taking a while. I have a reel of it running on the base tune right now.
@aombarbor hell yeah. I feel like LS swapping changes the dynamic of any car a lot. Balance, handling and stuff. I'm not opposed to it, but sometimes it's like may as well buy a c5 corvette. Overall, turbo kit will be cheaper, considering you'll need an new ecu and a lot of fabrication.
Get an n55 coolant tank off a e92 fits nice. What was genuinely going through your head while drilling into the oil filter housing in the car. It was so painful to watch. Would’ve taken an hour to remove and drilled/cleaned properly
I had already removed it before tapping, so i didn't want to do it again. Then when I tapped the oil pan, the grease caught a lot - almost all of the metal so I thought it would be good again. Forsure was a small brain move and was just rushing it.
That looks like a nightmare. You better hope you never have to take your fan out again looks like you had to do some shoe horning to get it in there lol.
Stock internals, just well maintained. I've heard you can do around or just over 500hp safely on stock internals. Forged internals can do around 700 and anything more than that you'd need to close the deck. I'm aiming for around 500, though, so it's drivable on track. I'm not a big HP number chaser. Maybe I'll turn it up and see what it can do when I'm ready to blow it up.
I’m curious as to when the magnesium block will decide when it’s time to head out, but hey man, you’re freaking awesome, you’re doing what everyone is afraid to do, that n52 is a mystery and we must find out its limits.
@BurntOrangeHorn78 I agree. The n54 is all forged, and the n52 has forged sleeves. N52 weighs less, has a little bit higher compression, the head flows way better, and about 30cc bigger displacement. If I was aiming to make above 700hp, I'd get an n54 and build it from the block up for sure, but Im not into roll racing and hotboy numbers. I just want to make decent drivable power for the track. Not to mention costs difference.
Hey I have a 630ci with N52 engine, can I work a turbo system like this in it? I had it from new paid a pretty penny for it, now it’s 19 years old and 72k kilometers on the clock.

Yeah, I would recommend that instead if you're not removing it. I was rushing.
when i put this on my n52 do i NEED to have an n54 intake manifold?
No, infact it may be easier without it.
By far the best and most detailed turbo N52 documentation I've seen online, GJ

64mm. Exhaust housing is tiny tho lol. I'll go over the specs in the next video.
What's the difference in his 328i N52 and my 2011' 528i N52? Could I use the same turbo kit shown in the video?
Yes, you could use this kit. Not much difference. Kit is supposed to fit all N52 engines.
That looks like a nightmare. You better hope you never have to take your fan out again looks like you had to do some shoe horning to get it in there lol.
Yeah haha, if I do have to take it out, I'll loosen everything up and tighten it down once everything is back in.
Good effort love the content mate keep it up 👌
Hell yes!
Finally
Omg thanks 4 this video!!!!
does this make it now an n54 lol
Looks exactly the same from the top, haha. N52 still has a longer stroke and higher compression, and is sleeved instead of all forged.
Very very good video
Thanks so much gang boutta do this shit
dude its 6k just get a n54 for a little more money but a much better boost handling power producing engine
