    For this video, we hop in a grabber blue 2013 Mustang GT with INSANE amounts of suspension modification to make the live axle feel like it truly doesn't exist anymore. By doing this, it doesn't make the car feel less refined, it actually makes it 100 times better. With it's all motor coyote 5.0 setup and 400hp to the wheels, it is extremely balanced. Thanks for watching!

    The Coyote Engine is so loud that I hear more of the engine than I do the stock exhaust! I can't wait to finally get myself an aftermarket exhaust! Looking at Borla Quad Exhaust, still haven't decided whether to do catback or axleback since I'm torn between saving money or more performance!

    Definitely upgrade your suspension david! An upper control arm is also a key factor to keeping the rear end in check. My next suspension mods will be a watts link and bump steer kit. Seen CJs car in Oklahoma many times...super clean. Nice vid

    Balance is so underrated when building cars. It's easy to get carried away making big power and forget about handling and braking. I love that CJ thought through his build as carefully as he did. I could do without the fake scoops, but the brakes and suspension stuff is key.

    A Watts Link allows the differential to move up and down without moving sideways, like a panhard bar does. Crown Vic's had them stock, and they handle surprisingly well for how big and old they are.

  • @tomkjr1
    @tomkjr1 7 років тому

    CJs car is very tastefully modified and well thought through. We're dealing with 2 different genres here. You have the controllable NA modified suspension cars vs the boosted beasts that are so powerful it doesn't really matter what mods are in the suspension...boost will overwhelm just about anything. So take your pick! I've had 4 previous Mustangs that handled great with NA engines and they were great fun. But now I opted for a frickin' BEAST so #5 Stang is an 03 Whipple Terminator pumping out 650rwhp...and I LOVE IT!! You have to respect the power though or you will crash fast.

    I like how you're honest about your car not being as good as this in the handling department. I feel the same way about my 96 cobra. Gonna go with a built 99-04 IRS eventually,subframe connectors,tubular everything,wide front tires,the whole enchilada! At least your car is a lot more sturdy than mine,so don't be so hard on your car. It'll get there eventually

  • @Ngo1ful
    @Ngo1ful 7 років тому

    Yes, always yes to better suspension. A watts link changes everything about how a live axle car drives, if you didn't know it you would think it was an irs.

  • @zachmockett7566
    @zachmockett7566 7 років тому

    Now you need to review another grabber blue 240!
    I really do think focusing on the handling is far more important on the Coyote powered S197. The stock motor is fine so just improve the ride, handling, and braking first!
    Same approach I'm going with on my E46. Tires, CHECK. Next up - Brakes. Then onto coilovers and sway bar. And hell knows what else i can find.
    Nice review David!

  • @Lilmac3022
    @Lilmac3022 7 років тому

    Yes to suspension mods!!! Do a watts link and coilovers as well as replace your bushings and your car will completely transform your car. Do it!!

  • @TheDutchTexan

    If you can swing those mods get them. There are plenty of things I would love to do to my 4.slow, but I do not have the capability to do so right now and I have to pick and choose. For what I want to do I can buy a classic, and that is what I am working towards.

  • @saby8765
    @saby8765 3 роки тому

    Good setup... For a road and track car, I'd change the rear upper arm and front a arm bushings as well, it completely eliminates nose dive but you still keep a little bit of squat.

  • @yamadawg242
    @yamadawg242 7 років тому

    we were just talking about the difference between the watts link and a standard panhard setup with an aftermarket link on FMC drift. they say it doesn't make much difference at all, I think the difference you felt was more in the shocks themselves.. and your blower in front may effect the car a tiny bit, but it isn't screwing anything up.. just put on some good coilovers and your car will feel like that.

    Great review David! I like CJ's car! I didn't know there were more differences between his car and Smurrf than the exterior! I think you should do the suspension mods on Smurrf when you get a chance. You looked like you were making that decision in the review hahaha! Enjoy the weekend David!

Now I say this, with having a supercharged s2000. Take a trip to the dragon with his and yours and I think his will be better overall.

    There's an exhaust called Heartthrob Flowpack that's absurdly loud. Had it on my car for awhile. Also had long tubes and full 3 inch exhaust all the way back. Most modern live axles come with a factory 4 link or watts link. The s197s didn't come with leaf springs and shocks. I'm fairly sure that they already came with a 4 link or a similar system. They didn't come with any panhard bars or stuff like that and can most definitely be upgraded which is probably what he did. Cool car doe
