Anything over 500HP in this car gets exponentially crazy!!! As Carroll Shelby always said, ""There is never enough horsepower......just not enough traction."
@freedomisntfree_44 - my best friend wrecked a home made Honda Odyssey with an r1 motor into a house. Luckily the homeowner was a grass roots dirt tracker.
I've driven a Shelby Cobra before with "only" 450~ish HP and it was terrifying AF at times. My dad owned it. I'm lucky enough he let me drive it maybe 10 times. The ONE time I put the foot down seriously I almost lost it. Makes sense why most of the originals were wrecked.
FINALLY SOMEONE MADE A VIDEO OF THIS Ever since I saw the Predator crate engine for sale, I was hoping someone would do this, or Predator swap a 64-69 coupe or fastback. 760hp and they pick up 50 with only a tune. 800hp in a box stock engine combo in chassis that light is a blast to drive on paper. Has to be lol

Great video! Phenomenal car, obviously, but I loved how authentic and raw the presentation and sound was! No music or editing; as close as we can get to being in the car with you! Perfect!
I sat in this car back in June at a car show in South Carolina that was sponsored by DownForce. Dan with DF was great and I regret not driving it home that day!! Man i was so close to pulling the trigger. I know it's still for sale... and after this video... oh man! you killing me! lol
I see ole Shelby I click I see Shelby with gt500 swap I must watch that thing is beautiful. I wish they would bring back old cars like that and have a classic modern look.
My stepfather has a 500hp cobra kit car. Given my experience with it, I think Matt Farrah said it best "the Cobra is the only car that is trying to kill you at all times". I can't even image it with 250HP more...
Ah a Shelby Cobra, perfected by The Late Great Carroll Shelby, originally a AC Bristol 289 RHD, with a 4 speed, they call the Shelby Cobra the widower because of it's visceral driving ergonomics, no power steering heavy clutch, large 427 Ford Racing Motor, Side Oiler, with more than enough power, absolutely stunning and glad to see the car around whether it be a classic original, or a modern updated timeless piece of automotive history.
One of the coolest builds I’ve seen in recent years. The way they’re bringing old classics back with an upgraded look and feel is so unique. If I had $160k laying around, it’d be real hard not to pick this over anything else. Great video as always
Respect it and be respectful 100%. The sidepipes make it sound almost right. I still have scars. Not quite throaty enough, the 427 FE sounded better but obviously didn't perform as well from the factory. Although FEs can be made to be this powerful 100%. FE parts are getting pretty rare and hoarded these days so it makes sense to swap something else into it. Great vid. From what I'm told even the EARLY Cobra's (with weaker engines than the 289) were still fun to drive and I 100% believe that. My personal vehicle history starts with Mk2 VW Golfs which had next to no power but were a blast to drive. Not even comparable to ANY cobra.
That thing sounds amazing! If i had the money I'd love to own that machine!!! Im at aww right now! I'm just amazed at the sound, the looks. Its an amazing car!

This is wicked I would like it alot more if it had a t56 magnum in it. The tkx is a really good trans too but the t56 would be better because you could use the sheepish gearing you need for this engine while still being good on the highway with a double overdrive. It's badass though.
My dream kit car build is a Shelby Daytona. Love seeing a good example of a kit car and this one is beautiful. How much they asking for it for sale? Sounds amazing with the gt500 motor. And that colour with the black stripe looks awesome. Love it.
The remanufactured cars are super cool, not “original” but that makes it possible to actually drive them which in my eyes is even cooler. Throttle house had a video on the factory 5 cobra, and they looked so frightened driving that thing
Speaking for myself. I absolutely would promise and LOVE to go ALL THE WAY to REDLINING ALL 4 GEARS. Love the modern look Big tires and wide body. Perfect Perfect paint color. 3:20 my neighbor had a factory 5 cobra with a 427, my sister was little when she burned herself on the side pipe after the car had just came back from a drive
Pucker factor 9000
This cobra is pretty close to being half the weight of a GT500 with the same power... that thing probably felt insane to drive
Beautiful car, was that the MK III R chassis ?
that thing sounded GNARLY
You should really buy this car David dude! Well, actually, buy it for your lady, then just offer to drive whenever you guys take it out😉😆
