    My great grandmother used to put aloe Vera in my scalp when she’d braid up my hair. I used to sit between her legs on the on the balcony in Costa Rica waiting patiently for my pretty hair style. I miss that lady so much.

    Can someone explain the point of watching someone's routine and complaining to them that it's excessive even though they obviously love it and will continue to do it...? If you don't like or want to do something you could just like....... not do it? Lol. Everyone loves to say how they're entitled to have an opinion but that justification only goes so far. There's no point in being negative about something that isn't even affecting your life... but anyway thanks for the vid Whitney! Pre-pooing has been a life saver for me so I'm always open to any new tips and tricks

      ***** this is true and it's unfortunate because like you said, we don't want to hear that. I guess they never learned that if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. It's just crazy that they'll really be debating with the actual content creator about what they choose to do with their body 😂 I'll just pray for them

    This aloe treatment was amazing!!! I'm from The Bahamas so I decided to grow some aloe in my backyard just to be able to do this all the time. The aloe completely transformed my hair even before I added the oil. My hair was super moisturized, my hair was jet black and my curls were popping. Nature really does give us everything we need. I def recommend this to all naturals!

    I like to cut out the aloe jelly, blend it, and strain out the pulp. You can freeze the aloe gel in ice trays and use them when needed (thaw it out, put in an application bottle and use in hair... with out the aloe chunks getting stuck in your hair)... you can also save the pulp and use it for your facials. It applies a lot easier... and save in the fridge. Aloe is the best!

    Ok so I've tried…🤔so many things I've seen on UA-cam I lost count. I've only commented on results once in the past. So here goes my second…after watching this video I went out to the store for what I needed and began the process. I must say this has been the least greasy, and least messy prepoo I've ever done!!! By the time my hair was twisted in parts (which btw I loved using a comb to make straight parts) my hair already felt good, I had the least amount of shedding I've ever seen (my hair sheds like crazy,
    still don't know why). The next day me and my sister decided to spend the afternoon at a bath house that had a steam room. I packed up my hair products and spent the day chatting, laughing and deep conditioning with some serious steam. I washed my hair and was so happy with how it felt. My hair has been restored instantly. Never have I ever enjoyed the results the first go around without adding or taking away from the original (I did however use coconut oil because I only had light extra virgin olive oil in house) thank you thank you for sharing your hair experiences. If not for UA-cam I would not be curly and loving it. 🤗

      Hey Jay Jay! I've been avoiding trapping "liquids" into my hair overnight lately. After everything that happened to my hair last year, I'm really trying to avoid irritating my scalp or water-logging my hair strands. I used to love deep conditioning or "plastic-capping" overnight, but the more I thought about it, the more I felt it left more of a chance for bacteria growth on the scalp, as well as water-logged hair, but that's just me and I don't have any proof of this. I just don't feel comfortable doing it anymore XoXo!! ❤️❤️

      Okay so does it mean when you moisturise and twist your hair its a good thing when the twist become bone dry? Cause I notice my daughters hair eventually sucks up the product and her twists get dry and I have to open them each day and reapply moisture. But when I leave her hair open it stay moisturized for days. Should I keep it twist then? I thought when it stays moisturized its a good thing🤷‍♀️

    • @EtherealVibe
      @EtherealVibe 5 років тому +3

      @@wentzel812 do you mean dry as in it was wet/damp from products and now the hair has air dried so its dry? B/c that's normal. What twists are suppose to do is actually lock the moisture in. It absorbs all the products as its drying so when the twists are dry and you keep them in for a few days (however long it takes to dry or just as a style), once you take them out & say separate the twists her hair should *feel* moisturized.
      It could be the products you're using to twist her hair. The products that's work for her W&G may not respond the same when you twist her hair ...idk lol just a thought.

      @@wentzel812 did you spray her hair with water as well as using the Aloe Vera gel on her hair? Saturate real good. Did you use any oil with the Aloe Vera? Her hair should still receive the goodness of the Aloe Vera gel. I'm high porosity but my strands are fine so and my hair drys fast. It might feel like that if she has really thick hair. She should be fine just make sure you are using a moisturizing shampoo when washing her hair😊

      Thinesight TScott yes it does! But want to know the best kept secret for scalp eczema? It's peppermint oil! This is the only thing that works immediately. The aloe will definitely help but adding peppermint will keep it under control for days (also ACV rinses). I use the one by NOW. You can purchase it from your local whole foods or vitamin shoppe just make sure to get the 100% organic one. Hope this helps ☺

    During my journey on trying to simply get my hair to just GROW, I stumbled across your many amazing how-to videos! They are extraordinarily phenomenal!!! But, the one statement you made to encourage us newcomers during this journey was, in the beginning of creating our hair regimens, "simply focus on the processes until we get comfortable with everything, and the rest will come together." YOU WERE SO RIGHT!!! That comment was always in the back of my mind whenever I was pre-pooing, washing, deep conditioning, etc. Those wonderful words of advice truly helped me stick with it, and has helped me get this far in my hair journey. Thank you SOOOOOOOO much! You're the BEST!! :)

I guess it doesn't work for everyone but if you hav extremely dry hair the aloe just calms everything all the way down. It feels so manageable and soft and prefect. I vote to rename aloe the true relaxer cuz it just soothed my soul in a way I thought it never would. Her method took so long, and left me with little piece of white flesh from the left after shampooing 3x. Only way I got those pieces out was to blow dry it with a pick comb.
      Someone here suggested spooning out the whole aloe leaf, blend it, strain it, freeze what you don’t need.
      This was much better for me, no white pieces left and it only took like 5-10 mins to do.

      Izzi Sewell it's so many suggestions, routines, steps that u can do because being natural is trial and error but it also gets tiring trying something new because what you're doing your hair might not like it etc I'm soooo over it

    • @whitneylisette5043
      @whitneylisette5043 7 років тому +3

      Izzi Sewell I co-wash and deep condition every week sometimes every two weeks because I get lazy, shampoo once a month and protein treatments when needed, and of course protective styles and moisturizing but I just feel like oh my hair is not doing xy and z so I go to UA-cam and it's all these different methods etc and I'm like come on I just want something simple don't feel like going through all of this I'm 2.5 secs away from doing a big chop and just staying bald

    • @NinaLady11
      @NinaLady11 7 років тому +3

      Whitney Koily Kurls Its good to keep things simple but if, as you said, your hair is not doing x,y and/or z, then trying something new may be beneficial to solve that issue. If you know your hair then you can usually filter out the unnecessary steps and focus on one thing at a time that may be beneficial for your hair. It's also smart to give that new process time, such as a month, before giving up and/or trying something else, unless your hair rejects it outright, in which case stop immediately and try something else. Caring for natural hair doesn't have to be so difficult if you just approach it logically.

    • @whitneylisette5043

      Ladee Neenah I think it's because my hair texture is more coarse and I have a lot of hair plus it's thick as well, so dealing with a more coarser texture and detangling even though there are products to make detangling more easier it's just frustrating because I can't zip through my hair like I did when I was relaxed and having to be so gentle and trying not to get frustrated makes me not even want to take that extra step to see if it makes a difference etc

    • @NinaLady11
      @NinaLady11 7 років тому

      Whitney Koily Kurls I have coarse, dense as well as high porosity 4c hair and I use pre-poo ing as a time to detangle, clean up my sections and prepare my hair for shampooing. It is absolutely essential that I carefully detangle before washing and since I finger detangle exclusively this step does take additional time, but it is worth it to me. I've been using AVG for some time but I never thought to use it in this manner. I'm going to try it out next wash day and see if is something I want to incorporate into my routine. I'm willing to put in the extra time beforehand to make everything else afterward easier.

      Ital Lopuyo well because the aloe is natural it goes bad after a couple days. If you leave the gel you realize after about a day it turns red when it starts to rot. So it may smell funny after a while considering it doesn't smell great to begin with.

    • @Jayariee
      @Jayariee 7 років тому +4

      Mikela Simmons it's actually not supposed to do that. Aloe can last up to two weeks in its extracted gel or juice form , even longer if you add vitamin e so it may be your environment or how you expose it. It's perfectly fine to put in hair as a leave in (but the smell is horrible) and shouldn't have bad effects otherwise

      The Aloe gel from the leaf left pulp in my hair and it took at least two weeks to get rid of the residue from my hair. Great video, but I will not try this again

      Jayare well I live in the Caribbean and my aloes tree grows in my front yard so I can attest to what it's supposed to do since I grew up eating it, growing it, and using it in everyday life . It turns red, and it goes bad just like all plants and natural products. I'm assuming what you use is the stuff you have to buy that contains additives for preservation. But yh it rots, so no leave in.

    omgosh..... I did my daughter, son and my hair. .......and I did not want to wash it out. ..... it was so moisturizing .. .. our scalp loved it.. the roots of our hair loved it .. I even squeezed some out and put it on the ends.. this was life.... I want to do this literally every other day. ..

    This is amazing! I've never seen my curls so defined without gel on them. I'm so happy that I've found something that my hair loves. Now I know what "happy hair" looks like for me. I use EVOO, grape seed oil and castor oil when I do this. I also sit under a dryer for 20 minutes instead of sleeping in it (smells horrible). I use a bit more to concentrate it on my ends in addition to my scalp. Thank you so much for sharing!

    I've been using fresh aloe gel as a pre-poo for a while but differently to your method. I blend it with conditioner and coconut oil and apply it to my hair and leave for about 15mins. it reduces the amount of knots that I used to get and keeps my hair soft and shiny after I wash it all out. Amazing!!!

    I found this video way after your posting date. My hair is going through it's typical winter shedding . It's almost alarming how easily and often the long strands shed. I mean literally if i touch it later after oiling and removing the shed hair there is more!! It's not as noticeable when wraring curly, but in the winter I cannot keep soaking it to detangle at so I blow it out once every two weeks. I'm going to try this overnight method and pray for reduced shedding. Thanks for sharing

      Happy taxservice I get mine from the farmer's market. It's usually 0.99 cents per leaf or you can buy the whole plant and grow your own for about $6-$10

      A lot of 'ethnic' grocery stores that carry Jamaican, Asian, Indian (etc.) will have aloe vera leaves. Sometimes Whole Foods and/or Trader Joe's too, but they will be much too expensive.

    This pre poo looks so official. I can't wait to try. I've done hot oil treatments for pre poos in the past with coconut oil by itself, olive oil by itself, avocado oil by itself or on rare occasions, a mixture. Lately my hair's been telling me to do a little more than just one oil for a pre poo and now I know exactly what I'm going to try. Thanks!

    OMG!! My scalp has never been so clean!! I have terrible dandruff issues, I can wash my hair, part it and there will still be dandruff on my scalp. But not this time, I followed the tutorial exactly and wow. I will be doing this everytime I wash my hair, it's definitely worth the time it takes.

    I tried this and it's AMAZING my hair soaked it all up and loved it my curls are poppin, I really suggest this especially because u don't use a lot and aloe is very cheap as it comes to hair products. A tip though, instead of stabbing the leaf I find you get more by scraping it because it doesn't get the chuncks you can get with puncturing it. I used two one inch slices and had plenty

    I finally got around to doing this pre-poo and it seems to be a game changer for me! My hair seems so much more moisturized. How long have u been doing this new pre-poo process? Pre-pooing with the actual Aloe Plant is now a staple for me. Thank you!!!!

    May I take a moment here to pay homage to the beautifully amazing woman in this video!? My friend, you are simply AMAZING for sharing such wonderful, beneficial vlogs on how we, too, can grow our natural hair!!! When I tell you I was at my wits end on how to get my hair to simply GROW last August, after years of trying to get it to JUST grow... I WAS AT MY WITS END! My body had changed so much over the past few years, so I assumed my hair was no exception. Breakage, shedding, stunted growth, you name it, I experienced it. Then last August, I stumbled across this video of yours, and then followed your superb DIY African Black Soap Shampoo video, the DIY Mango Butter, the oil medleys and as of late, the Tea Rinse to stop sudden shedding. I truly, truly believe that by pre-pooing with natural, actual AVL's, my hair is growing at a rate that it NEVER grew even before my body started falling apart! I AM ECSTATIC just to know that I wasn't balding after all! THANK YOU FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY SOUL for taking the time to create and share such wonderfully informative, step-by-step, all-inclusive, inviting and engaging "documentaries!" You are THE Boss!!! Thank you!
