    I tweaked your method, I boiled black tea, oat and lentil. Strained it and only used the slimy water as deep conditioning....OMG talk about a screeching halt to my many years of excessive shedding. Thank you so much for the tea idea.

    Herbal tea definitely works! I have been using herbal tea as liquid in my spray bottle for at least 7-8 years. My herbs of choice are horsetail, marshmallow root, nettle, chamomile, burdock root. I steep about 1-2 hours. Shedding is minimal!

    Hey girl! This is exactly how I do my black tea rinse. Yeah, I did a video 2 years ago. You can also try coffee rinses. (also have a video on that too). For those who try this and still struggle with excessive shedding, check your iron level. If you have iron deficiency, then you might also make sure to use an iron supplement. Please contact your Dr first. Happy Healthy hair.

    Doing a black tea rinse for 1 month, once a week, really helped my shedding after a horrible relaxer job 2 years ago ( my own fail) and massive hair loss. I mix it with my deep conditioner as well as rinse with the leftovers after rinsing the deep conditioner. I only did it that month and sparringly after that when my hair stopped freaking out and got back on my natural hair regimen. Shedding is next to nothing, actually way less than prior to my 1 time relaxer interruption and setback. oh, great shine as well. It 100% works. I use 3 black tea bags per rinse (black so it doesn't lighten my hair color).

  • @BeverlyByers

    7 years later. This still works! My hair was shedding bad! I put the green tea on my scalp along with my deep conditioner and washed it all out at the same time and put my hair in a protective style because I was shedding so bad the next week when I go to deep condition again the shedding is a FRACTION of what it was. The earth really has everything we need 😌❤

    For a great period of time my hair has been falling out tremendously! Its thinned out so bad I reverted to wigs and weave. Every wash or detangleing no matter how gentle or minor produced extreme shedding for me. Even basic combing daily. Ive never had a length problem. Always have had long relaxed but naturally curly hair. I had finally concluded at this point to cut my hair into a short cut and start all over. I tried the blk tea rinse this Saturday and babyyyyyy when I tell you the results are dramatic! My shedding hhas stopped at least 90% less.......no lie! This really does work and I'll advice this to many is desperate need for help.

During the detangling process, I only lost a pinky tip size of hair, when my usual hair loss is about the size of an egg! This is incredible!! Ladies and men you have to try this! Get you some garlic oil & mix it with olive, onion, cinnamon cassia, peppermint, stinging nettle, basil, & clary sage oils. This oil blend made my hair the thickest its ever been & it also made it possible for me to leave my protective styles up for 4-6 months with absolutely no breakage no matting no tangling. You can also try deep conditioning with Alter ego garlic mask or even adding garlic powder to your deep conditioner

    Black tea rinses are the truth! I've been doing them for a while now, and the results are incredible! The other bonus with using black tea, at least for me, is that it gradually darkens your hair over time, which I absolutely love! I actually use the tea as a final rinse. I just make sure to use a very hydrating leave-in conditioner afterwards, and I'm good to go.

    Tried the tea rinse for the first time today. You wanted to know if it worked for others; yes, I think it worked for me (I'll have to try it more than once)! I used decaffeinated peppermint tea (made with black tea) because it was what I had on hand and I thought peppermint couldn't hurt. I followed your process, shampooed, massaged the tea rinse into my scalp and detangled with Trader Joe's Nourish Spa to give the tea time to sit. Now I didn't notice much difference in the amount of hair I shed as I detangled (don't usually shed much then anyway); however, after rinsing, dc'ing, and styling (flat twists) I had almost no shedding at all. During styling is when I notice most of my shedding. There were literally just a few hairs in the sink...very promising! I'll skip rinsing on my next wash day but try it again in two weeks. Btw, didn't like the new background much; the color was pretty dark and took away from your hair (not enough contrast) and it felt 'busy.'

    Hey Gorgeous! Thank you so much for this video. I recently came across it earlier last week and decided to give it a go for my daughter's hair that's been shedding more than normal. Boy oh boy this is truly a golden gem to keep on the shelf as an "in case of emergency" go to regimen!! Since my daughter is 6, I am only doing this treatment one time this month then will co-wash, condition, and LCO like normal with simple styles for her and monitor through next month to see if we need to do it again. I Pre-pooed her hair with aloe vera, shampooed and lightly finger detangled her curls, rinsed out her hair and followed with the Green Tea rinse then applied conditioner followed by a deep conditioner just like in the video. I left her deep conditioner on all day namely because we didn't have to go anywhere though I planned to leave it for an hour initially. After all that I did her LCO using products you recommended in other videos (The mane choice detangler, a DIY fluffy butter, and a nutrient rich DIY hair oil until my melanin products get here :0) ) and realized after completing her style that I went through her entire head with ZERO shedding!!! Like nothing came out!! I'm so grateful and again thank you so much!!

For me, I think it was really a matter of getting older, simultaneously I went vegan, eliminating certain proteins while under a ton of stress, causing my body chemistry to change, and then I went ahead and colored my hair, so I think it was a lethal cocktail on my end. But it can def be as simple as you want it to be! That's where I'm headed back to now, simplicity. As a hair vlogger though, I'm definitely attracted to trying a ton of different things, just gotta be careful!! Xo!! ❤️❤️

      Naptural85 I would agree with the stress and aging. I have been on and off natural for years because of how thin my hair got after my first big chop (was done because of beat damage) in 2000. Since then my hair never got bk its thickness or length and stress played a huge factor as well as eating habits. I hardly eat much meat and other health issues has caused pattern baldness. So seeing your doctor for a full work up is so important. Vegan lifestyle will not work for me because i need protein in certain quantities and meat is the best option for me. But again..knowing your body from the inside out is the first step. Also PCOS could be a culprit for hair loss and shedding.

    I was skeptical but I was willing to try anything to stop my excessive shedding. After only one tea rinse my wash day shedding reduced by more than 75%. Luckily I kept my shed hair from the last 4 washes so I had more than a month of wash day shedding to compare. I used a regular Lipton teabag with your process. I can't wait to see more results. SO FAR IT WORKS!!!!

      Christina Watson I use it as a pre poo leaving it on 20-30 minutes. I use one tea bag, 8oz of water & 5 drops of rosemary essential oil. I saw results immediately. I fried my hair with color & it was breaking & shedding really bad. This helped big time. 🙂 HTH

    • @bloomingmay1
      @bloomingmay1 8 років тому +17

      Christina Watson what I do is put about 4 regular black tea bags in say about 200-250ml water, hard boil on the hob for 10 minutes, covered; then I leave that to steep overnight. I spray it on my scalp the next day, after shampooing and then applying conditioner after. I leave it on for say fifteen minutes or as long as you wish and this has really worked for me; it really works. I use it every two weeks or you can use it when you feel like you need it really.

    OMG IT WORKED!! Ever since I got a keratin treatment last month my hair has been shedding nonstop like crazy! Two nights ago I washed my hair and used the green tea in a measuring cup and poured it over my head over the kitchen sink (catching some of the run down with a bowl underneath to pour again and again on my head) and massaged it into my scalp. It wasn't until today that I actually noticed how much less I am shedding! To compare, before if I had gathered my hair up like I was going to do a ponytail and ran my hand around and down it, I would pull out a hand full of strands! I just did it 10 minutes ago and only pulled out like 3 strands! I wouldn't say it has completely stopped my excessive shedding, but it has by at least 70%, and that was just one use! I will do it again this weekend. THANK YOU!

    Yes!!! This tip works so well! More people definitely need to know about this. For those who want to skip a step, you can mix your favorite deep conditioner with the tea. That's what I do and it works just as fine. 🤗

    @Shawnmyrelle 8 років тому +5

    First, that new background is great- though it does kind of make your hair blend in. Maybe a design/color that makes your hair pop (something beige or tan possibly?).
    I no longer struggle with breakage. Every since I've been following your example for hair washing, my hair has been growing exceptionally. So much so that I stopped taking biotin tablets for at least 3 months now. I do, however, experience some shedding. I will definitely give this a try and return to comment- after all, your hair-chalk shimmer suggestion was so great that I even left your UA-cam name me in my Amazon review.

    I don't have problems with shedding anymore but I have a problem with SUPER tangly hair. I can only go like 3 days of a braid out without knots starting from the top of my hair. And lots of fuzzy hair balls at the end of each strand. (Strand meaning the braid out) . I can't run my hand through my hair it's awful.

    • @Naptural85
      @Naptural85  8 років тому +10

      Hey Leah! I feel you, I can't run my hands through my hands period! Ever! Lol!! I've realized that sometimes we just have to listen to our hair. I've decided to wash my hair as soon as it shows signs of drying (ie. day 3, day 4) in order to avoid split ends and knots. Of course, with a protective style, it can last a bit longer, but as far as wearing my hair out, if I want to keep if healthy, I just have to follow my hair's lead. For you it may be the same. Maybe instead of trying to prolong a style that your hair refuses to prolong, wash it right before your hair starts to act out, OR, try braiding it back up on day 2, right before it starts to knot up again. That way, you'll reset your moisture and avoid the dreaded day 3 knots! I HTH!! ❤️❤️❤️

    It worked for me!!!!! I was shedding clumps for the past month, I was thinking that maybe it could be due to the amount of stress I am dealing with. My hair is waist length 3b-c. I never had hair that long. I shampoo, used black tea left it in for 45 minutes then used cowash, then I slathered my hair with coconut oil left it on with my hot head for an hour, shampoo again them followed by a Creme rinse. The same amount of hair she showed in the video was the exact amount I shedded. I used a wide tooth comb to de tangle. My hair felt like when you get a fresh hair cut...strong. I will try this method again next week and add it as a monthly routine.

      Hey Precious Lewis! No, I'm pretty certain it's the tea rinse. For one, my hair tends to get more dry and weak when I'm pregnant, at least that's what happened on my first pregnancy, so I'm being extra cautious this time around. But more importantly, I've been pregnant for four and a half, almost 5 months now, but I ONLY saw a difference a little over a month ago, when I started these tea rinses, and it was an immediate, drastic difference. Up until then, my hair continued to shed, and I'm half way through my pregnancy at this point. I would've seen these results sooner, I would think, if it were the hormones. So I'm 99% sure that it's the tea rinse. Not to mention, I'm not the only one who has had drastic and quick results using this method, so it's been proven to work on other women who weren't pregnant as well. Xo! ❤️

      Precious Lewis ...just to confirm what I saw in my hair when I tried this technique over this past weekend. IT WORKS!..... instantly! I'm natural for my seventh year now. I washed my hair after a greek yogurt, honey and olive oil pre-poo ( rinsed with decaf green tea ) as Naptural advised, I let it sit in my hair until partial air dry then I continued process until all 8oz mixture was used. I then deep conditioned my hair and let that sit in my hair overnight. The next morning I rinsed my hair with water and saw a huge difference in the amount of hair that remained in my comb. HUGE DIFFERENCE! I will def monitor my hair fall until my next cowash. Thanks Naptural for posting.

    I know tea rinses work. The only reason I don't use them (even though I bought them for hair shedding) is because I believe they can mask any possible health issues. If I start loosing hair excessively, i'd like to see it and know if and when to make an appointment. I feel the tea might prevent any obvious signs of health issues. idk

    im 5 years late but this works!! I did it once and it helped tremendously and I'm sitting with it on my scalp now for the 2nd time. postpartum shedding is crazy but the green tea rinse is really helping!

    I had a hair appointment this past Tuesday. My stylist asked if she was cutting or trimming my hair. I responded only if it’s necessary because I want to retain as much length as possible. She replied that she would assess after the wash. After the wash, she oiled my scalp and combed through my hair. She showed me the hair comb. ZERO strands in the comb. No trim needed. I smiled because I had noticed greatly reduced shedding after I started using Melanin’s multi-purpose leave-in conditioner in September of this year. I feel so hopeful and excited about retaining length. Will see how my hair does in a month. 👍🏾

    I don't too much care for that background, you probably should try lighter or brighter backgrounds. Do you wash your hair before you put the tea on the scalp?

    A lighter background maybe better. The dark color blends with your hair. Great video.

    She's giving advice about hair shedding and all yall worried about is her background. Yall sound like kids that can't have their way.

    I saw a suggestion to use straight coffee. I was amazed by the results. Significantly less shedding and straight coffee is less drying than the tea. I do it every two weeks.
