Interesting, I may give it a try. I saw a video making gel out of xanthan gum & aloe gel about a year ago and it has been wonderful. No need to strain or blend anything, easy peasy 🙂
How do you guys get it not to flake? That had been my main issue with flax seed and xanthan gels. I hate that I cannot apply enough to clump without it flaking when dry...
@@pink_batman23 it's a 10 for me. My hair responds better to chia gel than any other gel I've used. I love it cus it's natural and holds even in the humidity plus it is good on my dry scalp.
I don’t usually comment on yt videos, however this chai seed hair gel recipe is extremely easy and fast. But the best part is that this is the best hair gel I have ever used hands down. Thank you soooo much for this video this is literally the only gel I use now for my hair.
Yes but you can use oil or mousse to combat the flaking, chia seed gel is literally the only gel I use now. However I use a cloth bag to extract the gel instead of nylon it’s easier for me and I can reuse the cloth bag and consume the seeds in smoothies for zero waste.
@@rika6047 Thank you for your answer! Does it give a good hold like wetline or eco styler? I have low porosity type 4 hair so I need something that my strands won’t laugh at.
For me it hold up well even with sweating and humidity. It’s the only gel I use unless I run out and I might use one of the got2b gels on my edges only but since it doesn’t take much time to make the chia seed gel that does not happen very often. Hope this helps.
After watching your videos about homemade gel I stopped buying store-bought gel. I have a lot of hair so I can make as much homemade gel as I want. I always wondered about chia seeds as gel and you solved my curiosity

For years, I've been searching in big retail stores for natural and affordable flaxseed gel for my tight, spiral curls. I only find the same old Eco Styler or super expensive brands with a million ingredients, so I keep making my own. You'd think making a flaxseed gel with some aloe vera and essential oils would be easy and inexpensive, around $7 - $10. Thank God for this information! I love your DIY videos. Thanks!

I tend to style my hair with conditioner sometimes to save money, and I just added some shea butter and the gel, pulled it into a low ponytail, and when it was dry I let it out. My hair was gorgeous and soft. I don’t know why I stopped doing that, actually…

The multiuse leave in conditioner is the best on the market!!!! My whole house uses it. Thanks for the chia seed gel tutorial. I’ve been looking for more nourishing gels and I will def try this at home.
I made the flax seed gel but did not have whole seeds only ground, and did not use a pantyhose, and the thought of using chia seeds crossed my mind. I am glad to have found your video, I will try this gel. Wondering what oils I can add, I have vitamin E but want to make it as nutrient rich as possible. I have thin wavy hair and want to get my curls back.
Melanin hair care line is the only products that works on my toddler hair. Always get compliments on how she got good hair. What ever you selling I’m buying it even if it plain water in bottle lol
Wait, a minute, WHAT?!!!! I never knew you could do that! This took me back. I use your flax seed gel for cooking, but I got my recipe from your channel!
Flaxseed are high in plant based estrogen so I avoid it in diet and hair products. Chia seeds and hemp seeds are my alternative. Since chia is so gelatinous, I have wondered if it could be user as a gel like flaxseeds. I'm excited for this video!
I was literally thinking about this the other day! I didn't have any flax seeds but had chia seeds and wondered if it could be used in the same way. Well now I know lol thanks for sharing! 😊
I was literally thinking about making ❤chia seed gel the other day when I made chocolate chia seed pudding with chocolate milk! Thanks for the confirmation.
WOW!! Super awesome video. I had no idea. So glad you did this video. I just saw your oil as a favorite pick for hair oils on an ad. Thank you so much.
Thanks for making this. I tried it out during my wash routine, it helped in making my hair easy to comb out. Ps advise what to do, I've experienced white residue after washing my hair when using the chia during the wash process. What can I do?
YOUR CURLS ARE GORGEOUS! So, Maui discontinued the most AMAZING Castor & Neem oil gel, and nothing is as goopy and gentle on the market with as much natural hydration and hold for my 3a/3b curls. SOOO! I'm going to use your recipe to try my hand at my own version. Wish me luck. Going to try adding Aloe, castor and neem oils.... So, more like a hybrid.

It’s amazing as a detangler and humectant. And it’s great because I can give the left over seed to my dogs in their food. So no waste!!! They love chia seeds. And I have like 20lbs of it 😂.
OMG, So I live in Thailand. I can’t find enough products designed for my hair texture. This video is a blessing for me. I am going to make this ASAP.
OG subscriber and this definitely gave me a nostalgic feel when I went natural in 2011. I have locs now but I still love these kinds of videos.
I knew there had to be a way to get more gel out!! Didn’t even think of more water and pulsing. Excited to try this when I run out of flax!
Thank you for sharing ❤ I love the consistency of this chia seeds gel, but it was not worth the MESS I made. I'll just wait for Melanin to launch a chia seeds gel. I'm not made for this DYI life.
Omg this is the reason you are my number 1. I love your products and I really love this and I will be trying this
Look how you have me watching UA-cam at school! I'm so happy you are uploading so regularly again ❤❤!
I just straightened my hair yesterday but, after watching this video I want to try this!!!
The multiuse leave in conditioner is the best on the market!!!! My whole house uses it. Thanks for the chia seed gel tutorial. I’ve been looking for more nourishing gels and I will def try this at home.
The shade at the end tho lol... waiting on the new chia seed gel to be released
Gorgeous!!! And I put these in smoothies too...I see an experiment ahead of me when I wash out this Silk press 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
Please include this in your hairline. I love your products and would buy this in a heartbeat. I've been looking for a natural get for two years.
Sooooo glad I now have something I can use these chia seeds for.
You make a valid point you should come out with your own gel.
Yay oil is back in stock!!! I've never ordered so fast in my LIFE!!!!
GUUUUURRRRRRLLLL YES!!!!!!!!! U are my fav DIYer!!! Missed this soo much…youre the best!!!
"Hello to all the brands watching" YAAAAAAS! You already know you are the queen. These people cant make money off you no matter how hard they try
This has done wonders for my 4c hair!!!!!
I love this my dear....no rinsing
I make chia pudding all of the time, but never thought to use it for hair gel. Awesome!
OK my question is how long will it last do I need to store it in the refrigerator? I’m pretty sure I do but how long will it last?
Thanks, sis! This method is even easier than what I had been doing to extract it
I love it, I will have to give it a try. I attempted your DIY flax seed gel, loved it on my hair, however it made my scalp itch like crazy. I can't use the professional brands either for the same reason. Thanks as always!
We already have a chia and flaxseed gel here in Brazil but it’s a little expensive so I want to DIY it ❤
