    Best training advise period. I’m 60 yrs old been training for over 42 years. 6,1 250 . With Mikes videos I’m actually bringing up all body parts that have been lagging for years.

      I'm so happy for you, I'm way younger but been lifting for quite a while and developed all kinds of injuries and bad habits. People who start out with Mike right away are so fortunate

      Sounds about right. Mikes great and all but if someone has been working out for that long, and couldn’t figure out how to bring up lagging body parts on their own, they’re probably not so smart.

    The wealth that Mike shares cannot be overstated. Teaching people to find the tension for the muscle they're trying to work saves them time, that's wealth.

    Yess!!! People always want there pinkys on the rings placing alot of stress on the shoulders. Bring your grip in, tuck elbows, and use your lats. This is the best and safest way to bench.

    Thank you Mike, for this video, I'm 72 and I train still with weights but I gave up on Bench pressing because of shoulder issues and prefer an incline dumbbell press I'm still struggling with my shoulder issue, but I can see now that my form could be better if I take the advice you give in this video.

    Can u make a video about shoulder health and scapula position. I’m not sure what the scapula should be doing during laterals and chest. U say to keep shoulder back and down but if u could make a in depth vid?

    Heading to the gym for chest training this very night. Gonna try this! God! I hope i can apply this because my bench/shoulders SUCK! And this is the first time i am hearing this advice. I;ve heard shoulders down and back forever, and i have worked very hard to do that, but have NOT improved. Maybe this is the factor I've been missing!

  • @michaelmeyers4950

    Very important tip. I do not at all have a problem with that (I feel my lats in virtually every move I do :D) but it is crucial. And that's the difference between a jerk jerking up 370pounds for no reason and not feeling anything in chest.
    It's like you said: if you do it right you'll need a fraction of the weights used so far.
    To me it's almost like the antagonist has to be more flexed than the protagonist in order to allow the protagonist to move freely on it's own.

  • @boz837
    @boz837 3 місяці тому

    Tried this by flexing the lats more. Torqued the elbows in closer and actually felt my chest working. I was still stuck on the 45° elbow angle. My shoulder hurt every time. Had to lower the weight considerably. I now have lot of work to do to continue building my chest the right way. Still learning.

  • @Slazbob
    @Slazbob 3 місяці тому

    I think about externally rotating my shoulders and it seems to put me in the proper position. If I keep them that way I don’t have to actually squeeze my lats and can keep my focus on my chest.

    Mike informative vid once again, thank you.
    Re: 11:00 those who don't feel their lats usually haven't lats (you get what I mean), so instead of that easy tense you mention, they get the uneasy tense where they lay an egg almost :)) me thinks.

    As many have mentioned, Mikes knowledge is off the hook but his sense of humor and demeanor is just as huge and all of this is why Wycked is my go to channel. At 59 yrs of age, I’m still learning from Mike and laughing my ass off at the same. He’s the fucking best. Period.

    Mike changed my training over night. But it’s annoying as hell when you have 1 shoulder that moves like a normal shoulder. And then 1 shoulder that brings every single movement I do into my upper trap. So hard to engage anything with a bum shoulder…
