This was my first themed Lego set. Still have my original one sitting proudly on display. What a privilege to see it being built (almost) brand-new so many decades later.
The weird discolorations around the windows on the wall pieces are normal. Probably something to do with the moulding process.
That's awesome!
Tha Black Falcons were really popular, even among their enemies. There's torches outside to burn down the wooden gate.
God, I love classic Lego Castle...
That was the only set that came with a Falcon Knight in full plate armor.
Yes! I wish they kept the Falcons going! I’m a fan of the full plate armor
For clarity's sake, you mean the soldier. From 1984 to 1995 or so, all knights came in plate armor. This set, along with 6057 and 6018, nicely illustrates how the Black Falcons had been out of print, but certain parts still available.
EDIT Oh wait, or are you referring to the knight and the plate armor piece? Than I just posted some additional info here.😉
@needfoolthings yes the plate piece
Nothing will be as great as classic castle!
I agree! My fave was always Castle and Pirates as well!
The feather being off the spool is 100% proof this thing was opened and built at some point because sets from the 80s and 90s always came like. Also the plastic does not disintegrate unless placed under such condition that would also affect the box (being left in sunlight for years for example)... Having the spare feathers is great however. Great find, barely used, like new.... But still used.
Yeah for sure - that’s what I think too. but I’d be too afraid to open it if it wasn’t messed with lol. So I’m glad, and the pieces are squeaky clean new, there’s no doubt, just opened, even though I didn’t get that experience. And let’s be clear: I did not pay ‘new’ prices for this lol.
You got a great set, even to have the box in such great condition is incredibly rare. I too would be over the moon to have found a set like this. Like new, box and instructions included would still be worth a fair amount. You kinda have the new experience without destroying your sets value. T
Exactly!
Such an amazing lil set. Castle was my fav as a kid, still is today too with the new releases they've done lately. I loved seeing the poster, I used to gaze at those and wish I could buy all the sets to build the diorama
Yes!!! Me too. And now I’m just building dioramas like I always imagined as a kid 😆
A barrel for the crossbow man would be more realistic in middle ages castles would store crossbow bolts in barrels until need and hang the crossbows themselves with the strings unattached.
ah! ok excellent - thank you for that insight!
A pristine box from 1990? It’s crazy to open it. Put the box in the shelf and hunt down an old second hand version and build that.
Ok, I kept watching and yeah- fair enough, it had already been opened. 🤗
lol yeah I probably should have lol. But I'm having a blast re-living my childhood experiences!
@@vintagelegos Well that’s the very best reason to do it. I had that recently digging up a bunch of old space Lego sets- Blacktron 1 and 2 and Space Police from the 90s, straight from my childhood.
I just built this a couple of weeks ago. I had my brother's and mine old castle lego stored away, and this was one of many castles we have. It was putting all the sets together.
That’s awesome! Yeah my brother and I had tons of castle, space, and pirates from the early 90’s!!
I like to castle series.
It’s the best!
Fantastic buy to get the box, parts and instructions in that condition
Yeah totally! Even though it was opened, it’s all relatively un-touched as far as I can tell. It’s re-living that experience, like when I was a kid!
Just a guess: Maybe they didn’t give the crossbowmen quivers because crossbows use bolts that were shorter than arrows and usually carried at the hip. Or they wanted to keep the piece count low.
Both valid points! It would be cool to have a piece made to look like that though
Such a great deal!
If its opened and tampered with, its definitely not new so if you paid in box prices consider going back to the seller for a credit.
Oh, I definitely didn’t pay new/in-box prices! It was unopened at some point with the seller, and pieces are brand new for sure. Just not sure when they opened it 😃
Love the build! Keep up the good content.
Thank you!
I actually just got this poster of bricklink
This was definitely 1993.
Pin me? 😊
