I suppose it's more of a statement of Stasis itself not being cold. It's function of taking energy out of an environment to form itself would certainly not make it cold, but it would make the surroundings cold.
Right at the beginning, you said that theirs a quote that says something along the lines of, "ghosts without guardians pitty the hive, since the darkness tricked and enslaved them". That feels very particular, to me atleast. And makes me think that maybe savathuan didn't steal the light but a bunch of ghosts willingly gave them selves to her, or maybe even the traveler did(which is super unlikely to be fair). I mean have we ever heard savathuan gloat in any trailer or other thing where she says she stole it? Hasn't only bungie devs said she stole it? Maybe I'm crazy but like we have 0 people successfully steal and keep the light. Only contain it
with the amount of lucent brood needed to... well, CREATE a brood that could form an actual force as opposed to just a fireteam, id like to hope that there hasn't been that large of a ghost exodus that we never heard about anywhere
I think that Savathûn acquired these Ghosts using necromancy. During Season of the Lost, Crow mentions to Ikora how Savathûn (as Osiris) had a fascination with dead ghosts and asked to be supplied some. She could have used the necromancy she learned from Nokris to resurrect dead ghosts. This would also explain why Hive Ghosts' chassis are filled with soulfire. I guess we'll see in a week or so
Don’t think it is willingness to have gone to her, the vidoc states that she has stolen what is most precious to us. And something being given to her isn’t stealing, but that could be picking at wording haha
Interesting thing about doubt. Remember what Mithrax said about Savathun during Season of the Splicer? That doubt is one of her only weaknesses. But whose doubt? Her own, or others?

One of the most interesting points to remember: Elsie’s return to this more hopeful timeline, in which we have certainly altered things, through the years has been meeting people like Mara, Ikora, and Eris again, and telling/showing them the countless dark fates that they all meet. Via their corruption by Darkness, or their deaths. She is taking steps to ensure us, and other interregnal figures don’t make the same mistakes that lead to our collective Dark Future. Hopefully, her efforts will be worth it this time, she suffers the worse fate: watching every one die repeatedly as two cosmic forces play with their fates.

I will say one thing about raid spoilers, from a lore perspective raids are impactful events on the world. When last wish was completed, everyone got a cutscene in the game saying that Riven, the last ahamkara was killed. There were similar things with Garden and Deep Stone iirc. As far as I'm concerned that gives you a lot of leeway with raid spoilers
Wait so if the darkness is entropy but stasis is, well, stasis then does that mean that entropy is (in the philosophy of destiny) a measure enacted by the Darkness to reach a state of permanence. This further reflects the light ≠ good, darkness ≠ evil.
Totally. The Darkness is all about (as far as we're concerned) constant and unchanging stability, even whilst things process the end result is always the same and permanent. No evolution, just constant unending process, totally predictable, totally knowable - with one Final Shape to the Universe The Light is all about complexity and change both in the process and the outcome. Evolution, constant unending change, totally unpredictable and totally unknowable - with no Final Shape to the Universe The Truth is that neither Light nor Darkness as primeval forces are Good or Evil and neither should be sought as an end in and of themselves and neither can truly exist without the other. I mean, what is Truth? Does it live in the world? Or in the mind? Is it constant? Or can it be bent? Who decides what is True? In this Universe of Light and Dark, there is no greater Power
I went and read the transcript. The best part is that Zavala's response to Ikora asking if he's considered a marriage to secure an alliance with the Cabal is just "have you?"
Just one thing I want to point out: when you say the freezing of stasis isn't due to cold but a lack of energy, cold is a lack of energy. "Cold" isn't an entity of itself, but rather a lack of heat, which is a form of energy
Heads up gaurdians! This just solidifies my theory that stasis is anathema to arc since both are semi sentient. arc is the silence in the noise, while stasis is the song in the silence
I've seen people say they think Ikora is going to be the witch queen vendor, but I think more likely shell be the SEASON vendor. Sounds like it's going to be some noiresque detective theme
I've saying this for a while. Ikora is literally walking nuclear deterrent. Her power on the same level of destructive power aa a single Harbinger I would estimate. It was paramount that Ghaul captured the speaker. This distraction, directed her rage to looking for the speaker and the fear of hostage. Had she cut losses she could have casted a nova bomb so big that it could sink Chicago again.
I do love how Byf goes to great lengths to explain how the Stasis crystals don’t function due to cold, but then perfectly describes the thermodynamic effects of freezing and heat transfer that we commonly understand as “cold”.
I have a feeling that Aurnor is going to end up as an expansion or seasonal villain by going full on 40k inquisitor against any guardian that uses stasis.
Thank you so much for all your videos! You have had a significant influence on me, i love the game more than ever before because of your Lore videos. I cant wait for Dynasty!
That classification for Ikora's power has me wondering what other Guardians are "up there"? Is she a standalone at that classification? What's the power "gulf" between that classification, and the next one down? Are there non-guardians that exert a similar level of power to be classified as such? Hive Gods, the Worms maybe?
Ok, one small tinfoil hat question. The "humming female voice" that plays when putting the Hive Ghost... could it be Sagira's voice? I leave that there :P
I found a video of it since I don't own the CE myself ( ua-cam.com/video/e4XN7qRniE4/v-deo.html ) and, comparing it (at a higher volume to hear clearer) to some of Sagira's voice lines from Curse of Osiris actually sounds pretty similar. Uh oh
I'll have to double-check but I'm pretty sure Drifter has actually never said Uldren's name, even so far back as in Forsaken with lines like, "Did you kill Prince...Udo? I don’t really care but everyone's asking. Gotta blend in." and a lot of Prince what's-his-name's
He actually survived the trash compactor even though he didn't shoot the 3 transistors. It closed on him but never killed him. I don't understand and i need to know how lol
it is go cause they mention the joseki, though the standard board is 19x19 and ikora and zavala are playing on a much larger scale atleast 24x24 which opens up space for much more complex moves.
So Ikora is like Batman. She’s unbeatable because of years of experience and smart improvement, and because of that overwhelming knowledge and practice of the light, she has an answer for nearly anything. So in order to defeat her, you would have to take away her options or distract her. Those are the only times Batman loses, when he doesn’t know something or is distracted. Ikora is the Batman of this world 🤣
I`m probably wrong, but I`m getting the feeling, that Ikora gets corrupted by Savathun or the darkness and we have to fight her. I think she`s humming Savathuns song and if Osiris dies, she will be emotionally realy vulnerable. There must be a reason, why she is so strong, too. I think he will have to fight her.
The fact Ikora is so powerful makes me wish we could get some offical ingame lore of how powerful WE are. We are literally the Master Chief or Doomslayer of destiny and our feats far outshine any character like Saint or Ikora. Id love bungie to give us something on that. I will say i actually love Ikora as a character and love what bungie have done with her. Tbh the best moment is when she shuts down Mara in the radio comms haha.
It’s interesting hearing you have to restart sections because ‘human’ and being HELLA busy. Doesn’t detract from the video though. Thank you for your work. :-)
As someone who does avoid the trailers because of spoilers, let me tell you, it is DIFFICULT. And some things can’t be avoided (like, of course I knew the campaign was that Savathun had stolen the light and that we’d be spending a lot of time in her throne world). But I did manage to avoid knowing what the throne world would look like and stuff like that.
I would hate/love to see Ikora fly off the handle. She's so calm and collected that she'd probably have a blackout episode where she kills everyone with an unstoppable wrath.
The entire aside about document titles really demonstrates the relationship between Ikora Rey and Ophiuchus as well as striking me as somewhat ironic when compared to you-know-who and a certain fiery bird grandpa...
I’ve literally been expecting physical pain with excitement and really bad fomo despite the DLC not even having come out yet…. I can’t be the only one?? I’m almost too hyped for my own good 😅

After watching dynasty (great content bye the way) i come to realize that the traveler could be a creation of the worm gods. As the worms need death to feed their hunger, ghosts are the perfect chief and gardens the perfect food. That is why they follow the traveler
So I’m about halfway through this and I’d just like to say, this is why I feel like the argument that light and dark can both be used however we see fit is a poor justification for using stasis. The problem is where they come from both have a motive and desire. One is, more if not completely, altruistic and the other desires blood and death to everyone until there is only one left. And stasis, if not itself, at least links you to the darkness which actively seeks to corrupt you to its will that being death and destruction.

The Darkness is all about (as far as we're concerned) constant and unchanging stability, even whilst things process the end result is always the same and permanent.
No evolution, just constant unending process, totally predictable, totally knowable - with one Final Shape to the Universe
The Light is all about complexity and change both in the process and the outcome.
Evolution, constant unending change, totally unpredictable and totally unknowable - with no Final Shape to the Universe
The Truth is that neither Light nor Darkness as primeval forces are Good or Evil and neither should be sought as an end in and of themselves and neither can truly exist without the other.
I mean, what is Truth?
Does it live in the world?
Or in the mind?
Is it constant?
Or can it be bent?
Who decides what is True?
In this Universe of Light and Dark, there is no greater Power
38:05 Byf… I hope you understand what you have unleashed upon us by revealing this particular tidbit of information.
I went and read the transcript. The best part is that Zavala's response to Ikora asking if he's considered a marriage to secure an alliance with the Cabal is just "have you?"
@@goofyfurball7311 oh god… it has begun.
Just one thing I want to point out: when you say the freezing of stasis isn't due to cold but a lack of energy, cold is a lack of energy. "Cold" isn't an entity of itself, but rather a lack of heat, which is a form of energy
Hell yeah early byf video to distract me from valentines day
Heads up gaurdians! This week is THE LAST WEEK that you can run the presseage mission, if you've yet to run through it I don't know what you are waiting for for if you have had access to it all this year. That said if you do not have access and still want the exotic from the mission, it is going to be added to Squidface's inventory starting in season 16 (in two weeks), and He will have a random roll every time it is available in his inventory, same thing is happening to Hawkmoon.
When you get your version of the collectors edition I hope you go back and do like an update to this if you find anything new. Like I know there is something you didnt touch on but it could be for a plethora of reasons as I dont even know what a certain memory from the pshycometer means and hope that maybe you will be able to do so once you get your hands on it.
"This is where I would put my Witch Queen Collector's Edition.... IF I HAD ONE!"
Man I ordered mine way before all my friends did on the day they were first for sale, and I'm the only now in the group who still doesn't have theirs.
@@spartanclassof2012 I wanted to get it but by the time I went to buy it it was sold out. I have every collector's edition from Forsaken and up so my inner completionist is screaming 🙃
@@blakesiphroth5924 I can feel that, I wanted to get the shadowkeep one, but it was gone before I could get it. The witch queen one is for sale on ebay already for absolutely ridiculous prices
@@spartanclassof2012 I believe it. Friggin scalpers
Thank you for covering this! It was really fun hearing more about Ikora. The book titles cracked me up. I feel called out lolll
Shaxx is honestly such a great character. He gets reduced to being that guy who yells at you in crucible but like he's such a good character haha
He truly is heck him and cayde used to play Dodgeball with children in the city, the guy was a warlord but was benevolent to his people honestly shaxx is that relative who's always excited to see you and proud of you no matter what you do
That newest Glaive trailer got me hyped just a little bit.
Numbers are perfect.
Find the Patterns.

This just solidifies my theory that stasis is anathema to arc since both are semi sentient. arc is the silence in the noise, while stasis is the song in the silence
If you're familiar with Byf's spoiler policy, the video starts at about 9:10.
Oh, I love all these little tidbits, and massive potential revelations.. its nice to see Ikora getting the focus, too!
I've seen people say they think Ikora is going to be the witch queen vendor, but I think more likely shell be the SEASON vendor. Sounds like it's going to be some noiresque detective theme
Came in expecting to get right to the lore but instead I got a RickKackis level intro gave me a good chuckle
I’d love to see more guardian classification, I love power scaling
Thank you for all your work. I appreciate you. Very exited for “dynasty”. Much respect.
I have a feeling that Aurnor is going to end up as an expansion or seasonal villain by going full on 40k inquisitor against any guardian that uses stasis.
Aunor’s proven to be much more restrained than that, my money’s on Shayura from the Trials gear lore tabs, if anything.
@@SpaceMan-1998 she's already on a frenzy and from the looks of it Reed's hunting (looking?) for her?
Now we know why Ikora can change supers back to back like it's nothing. Her power level is over 9000!!! Lol
Just came back after 11 months away good2cu byf
Man. I really hope my collector's edition comes soon
These feed my hunger for new content!!!!!
I love that we just got a canon explanation for how Ikora is so busted that she can toss two void supers with a three second cooldown!
NOOOOOO
That one jump death on the glycon. I feel it, the pain of warlock jumps.
He actually survived the trash compactor even though he didn't shoot the 3 transistors. It closed on him but never killed him. I don't understand and i need to know how lol
@@SirAlamyr just stand against the far wall from the lever it doesn’t kill you. Its been that way since day 1
@@SquaredPasta thanks! I had no idea 😂
it is go cause they mention the joseki, though the standard board is 19x19 and ikora and zavala are playing on a much larger scale atleast 24x24 which opens up space for much more complex moves.
Ikora is the Batman of this world 🤣
I KNEW IT YESSSSSSSSSSS
SAVATHUNS SONG IS INTENDED FOR GHOSTSSSSSSSS
I`m probably wrong, but I`m getting the feeling, that Ikora gets corrupted by Savathun or the darkness and we have to fight her. I think she`s humming Savathuns song and if Osiris dies, she will be emotionally realy vulnerable. There must be a reason, why she is so strong, too. I think he will have to fight her.
Completely unrelated, but I got an ad for Expedia with ewan macgregor in it and man am I excited for kenobi
Arnor: Nooo! The darkness is bad and you should never use it!
Guardians: Haha, shiny crystals make Crucible go boom.
Alternatively, “stasis go brrr”
46:00 -- they would've had Eris' humming audio on file, so unless it's supposed to be someone else in particular there's a chance it's hers.
@MyNameIsByf I won't spoil it but there are 4 secrets in the collectors edition. Meaning 4 items that you can use to uncover things.
that screeb at 28:27 just did not move and accepted he was going to die
The fact Ikora is so powerful makes me wish we could get some offical ingame lore of how powerful WE are. We are literally the Master Chief or Doomslayer of destiny and our feats far outshine any character like Saint or Ikora. Id love bungie to give us something on that. I will say i actually love Ikora as a character and love what bungie have done with her. Tbh the best moment is when she shuts down Mara in the radio comms haha.
Energy cannot be destroyed or renewed.
Nice job Cowlick
Clicking like before the video loads, you know you’re watching a Byf video. Enjoy the show
Thanks for the added Crimson Days present Byf!
THROW MORE GRENADES!
It’s interesting hearing you have to restart sections because ‘human’ and being HELLA busy. Doesn’t detract from the video though. Thank you for your work. :-)
Skip to 7:50… Byf’s intro is other channel’s entire videos on this one
Video starts at 9:40
Been waiting for this. Very excited 🥳💫
I was the Cabal shaxx headbutted into existence!
Bracus Sah'Taurn, best siege dancer this side of Mars, pleased to meet you!
I would hate/love to see Ikora fly off the handle. She's so calm and collected that she'd probably have a blackout episode where she kills everyone with an unstoppable wrath.
We've seen hints, with the Red War Double Nova and "Let's Storm The Reef With An Army." Very excited to see how they exploit this in the DLC
@@XionWillow Hehehehe >:D INDEED
The entire aside about document titles really demonstrates the relationship between Ikora Rey and Ophiuchus as well as striking me as somewhat ironic when compared to you-know-who and a certain fiery bird grandpa...
I’ve literally been expecting physical pain with excitement and really bad fomo despite the DLC not even having come out yet…. I can’t be the only one?? I’m almost too hyped for my own good 😅

Ikora’s gonna do more than just stand in the tower? 🤯
All I thought about while reading that power assessment was "Red War Double Nova"
Great video! Byf, my Collector's edition showed up a couple weeks ago and I put up videos of all of the included items on the psychometer. If you want to pull audio or reference from those for future videos, feel free.
Ooooooo I love when you go down this rabbit hole 😁
After watching dynasty (great content bye the way) i come to realize that the traveler could be a creation of the worm gods. As the worms need death to feed their hunger, ghosts are the perfect chief and gardens the perfect food. That is why they follow the traveler
Byf always does this to me, I don't have 47 minutes :'( but I want to listen to the whole thing 😭
33:50 am I hearing things wrong or did one of Byf’s recording takes not get edited out?
What is the very pleasant music track playing in the background for most of this? I don’t recognize it from the game soundtracks
from those book titles, Ikora would make a killing in the video essay market ngl
14:45 That sums up the whole Light and Dark conflict:
Dark: Play by the meta!
Light: ADC Ivern Sup for the win!
And stasis, if not itself, at least links you to the darkness which actively seeks to corrupt you to its will that being death and destruction.
i mean... Ikora has cast two Nova Bombs back to back before
Sitting in front of savy’s crystal with actium and sweet business listening to byf. Get ready for the brrrrt savy!
god thankyou for these uploads while we wait for WQ
Poor Ikora, I can feel those key smashes when trying to find a good title
