Welcome Test Subject. This is a compilation of some of my previous videos. I asked in a poll if you'd like it and thought I would give it a go! I do have a huge timeline in the works on a different game that I am hoping to post in the next week or so. Rip and Tear.
I’d like to thank you for your selfless brevity at the beginning of the video. No halfbaked quips no sponsors. Don’t want you to feel pressured to never do anything else for an intro but sometimes minimalism is nice!
For a compilation, it just made sense. However for the normal videos, I do think I'll keep the intros the same. I've found that some people have never explored this universe and it's a great way for them to be introduced to it. Thanks for watching!
I really like how Doug is the one who says you can always ignore your conscious, but when Chell was being dragged in and he could have left the cube is the one telling him to leave. To ignore his conscious like Glados essentially. He instead still chooses to follow it and save her despite whatever it'd bring to him. Edit: I forgot to actually conclude my statement- I find this interesting because the cube becomes his conscious and guide essentially. So he's both following his actual conscious and disregarding his physical representation of one.
I keep waking up to this man every morning. Currently auto play has played this a second time in a row. If I were to watch both videos, that would be six hours of portal lore I didn’t need to know.
Everytime i fall asleep watching youtube it doesnt matter if its a movie, a documentary, gameplay, etc. i always wake up and this video is playing. Fr this loop is crazy, its even getting deppresing
I've played a lot of games, but both of the portal games are still in my top 10 easily. The atmosphere, mysteries, humor and nostalgia for a time I haven't lived in makes me start them up again every couple of years. I think it's awesome that you're still covering these older games as they truly are amazing and it's fun to see all the tiny bits of lore given to us tied together so nicely!
The portal games are indeed on my top games list. Imo the story telling is excellent, the atmosphere, the gameplay is fun and inventive, and I like how both Portal games RESPECT the players experience. They are short but packed with greatness, unlike most modern games that are long but just skinner boxes designed to steal money from players. These games are some of the last triple a games that actually respected the player and the player experience.
Bloody hell sky I always listen to your lore and tid bits videos on the way to work but it doesn't take 3 hours to get there! You put in so much effort and it shows my man. Can't wait to start this one as soon as I finish today.
Portal and Portal 2 are my all time favorite video games. I've been playing them since I was four. I love the mix of compelling storytelling and intuitive gameplay. 10/10, would recommend
@@fusionberry7332 I'm glad! Portal is an essential part of my childhood. But buddy, don't go giving your current age on the Internet, especially before you're 18. Me personally, I'd edit your reply to take out your current age. Word of advice: just because someone shared something slightly vulnerable (like I did), doesn't mean they're automatically your friend. It's great to keep conversations friendly, but don't share any personal information like your age, name, or residence. Just keep your head up and stay safe out there, and always remember: We do what we must because we can.
I particularly enjoy listening to the overlap between stories in different contexts since this overlap opens my eyes to the giant picture that the Portal games encapsulate with their storytelling. Great video
Portal 2 is the first game my parents ever bought me and will forever hold a special place for it in my heart. It has not only nostalgic value but has overall formed my sense of humor and set the standarts of games i would later go on and play. Truly a masterpiece a will never forget.

Rattmann's story is sad, yet beautiful. In a way, death would be a merciful fate, but seeing him living on to help chell from the shadows is wonderful. I think rattmann living in constant fear is also sad and upsetting... But, seeing how his morals and psychology works, he seems - in a way, like he isn't completely mad, but an empathetic heart broken man on the inside. His fortitude, his wit, and his growth can be felt through the comics, it gives necessary context, foreshadowing and backstory to the rat dens throughout the two games. All hail rattmann
apparently the ending to portal 1 was supposed to show that glados had backup cores, its why the cores are all orange and why she sings about still being alive

I dont think i would have given either a second thought to those games if not for your videos, as i am a wee child of 18 years, and so half life 1 was before my time, and half life 2 was released 1 month before my birth.
