5 1/2 years ago I helped twist/rip my wife's hair into dreads... it took 10 hours! Respect!
Thank you so much for taking the time to talk about all of the little details of the process!! This is exactly the video I was looking for.
good luck. hope the journey is fun, humorous and enjoyable. locs are beautiful!
Thank you so much! I certainly am having fun with it :)
This is very helpful! I think the palm rolling is the piece I was missing! Thank you so much!
I really appreciate that you made this video. I have the same hair type and thanks to you and your video I feel that I can do dreads and have it genuinely work for my hair type. Thank you! :) You've made my day and can hardly wait to start my deadlock journey! Thanks for giving me hope with a smile and your awesome information. Your locks are gorgeous!
The best looking dreads I've seen yet...
Finally! Someone with the same game plan as me with their dreads. I swist/rip. Don’t plan to crochet or do maintenance. I plan on ash,dry separate and palm roll..decorate and enjoy.I’m entering week 3.
love your video! Feel so much better about my own journey since I found you!
I’m about to start my journey with locs and I can’t wait. My mom is starting as well :)
I'm so happy And excited I found you!!!! I have searched And search for someone with my hair type. And being able to follow you easily. I can't wait to start mine 😍

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! :)
nice explanation.really sweet of you.
You did an awesome job. I’m trying to do this now. I have my back and one row on each side done. I can’t get anyone to help me section it!!
This was so informative and I have a similar hair type and length. From your latest video it looks like your hair has been coming along great! You seem super cool, subscribed :)
Awesome video I love learning more about dreads
Thank you so much!💕
these are the best straight hair dreads ive ever seen
this is the best video on here! and ive looked at a lot haha, im trying this today on myself, thank you :)
So glad to hear it! Let me know how it goes💕
how long did it take it to look that way? they look great!
They make u look so much younger and they're so pretty!
Jadee Endicott awww thanks!😊
I love your locs! I like how thin they are! Would love an update of what they look like now or if you even still have them!
Nvm! Just saw your update video! Lol
That's not a 2c - 3a hair type.
But a 2a - 2b hair type, just like mine, but mine is just black and fuller.
I am soon getting dreads as well.
I started yesterday with the twist and rip method after thinking it over for a week. I love your dreads. I used the triangle sectioning which I really like and I am about 75% through my head. I just have the crown left. Please update on your journey any useful tips and your struggles this far.
Hmm never hear of triangle method.
@@ashleighvinson5801 i really liked the triangle parts. Theres a grid on pinterest that shows how to part them. I did mine a bit smaller than the grid and had 69 dreads total. I ended up splitting 2 and had 72 dreads. Unfortunately, i combed them out in september but im back again ready to restart the journey tomorrow. once i install them i palm roll the whole dread and continue palm rolling once a week on wash day to keep up on new growth. I like my dreadlocks to be neat and clean with the cylinder shape. Im used to starting out palm rolling but i have relaxed hair so it wont hold the palm roll which is why i used the twist and rip method.
Nice vid
I didn't use rubber bands. My hair type is fine and thin. Lost length with twist and rip. Palm rolled. I have washed my hair. And my hair dreaded just fine just cause I have naturally curly tangley hair
you did a great job! they look awesome!! my hair keeps falling out of the dreads at the moment....when i wash them they get loose but its all part of the process😊
Thanks so much for the support!! I just checked yours too, they look great! it is definitely a process, right?! Are you free forming or did you backcomb or rip & twist to start with? It looks like we have very similar hair. . .I have washed mine 2 times so far and they are staying pretty tight but the roots are getting loose and lots of fuzzies! Luvin' it so far though :)
Merrideth Hawk Thank you so much! i did twist and rip and some backcome. i agree i think we have very similar hair..i wish mine were longer...its hard to get short hair to stay dreaded! keep the videos comming beautiful!!!!
Likewise!! and thanks again! :)
I am curious how your dreads turned out, and your health.
How many hours per day did you do it?
I have straight hair and did twist n rip method. My dreads are very loose and flat (3 days old) should they be tight when I start them? I tried fixing them with a crochet hook but it doesn't really work because they're basically just messy/frizzy looking braids. Should I start over and do them tighter? Or will they knot up eventually? I'm so confused as to what they should be like to start with..
Litz i know your answer is a year old and the original post is already two years old, but I’m sooo happy you answered it!
I think they look great how do they look now update please 🙏
Haha I just gave myself a dreadlock and now I wanna take it out😂
Bruh
When i was doing twist a rip i was rolling it so fast that i started to smell the smell of burnt hair lol.
Thanks to everyone for watching!! More videos to come on my dreads and other fun stuff so don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to my channel! ❤😆❤
Did this work for a while? Did it hurt your hair?
So while you were dreading your hair you didn't wash your hair at all?
I am 13 and just go a few dreads in. They did not go to the root that well. can the root dread up naturally?
Yes just keep maintenance
Nerrrrrrrrrvioussssssss
Tom Deheide ?? not sure whachya mean
Where are u located
The last inch of my hair won’t dread! I’m probably going to just cut it
You can take the hair at the bottom and make it a loop with the middle to end of the straight hair against the dread then take the loop and rub it against the palm of your hand for a while and it should start to knot up and then you can crotchet the rest into your dread if that makes any sense it's kinda hard to explain, I'm sure there's videos on the technique for finishing the ends.
They look great girl! Looking forward to seeing how they develop :) your hair before you put them in looked a lot like mine before I did my dreadlocks! I'm a new subscriber :D would love if you would check out my channel and maybe sub back :) xx
Thank you so much! It is always nice to hear. . . luvin' your channel as well. Vegan & dreadlocks, how can you go wrong with that?!! :) subbed as well, I love sharing and supporting -cheers!
that aint no thick hair :)
You would know by watching a video? I'd think I'm a better judge considering it's on my head.😊 Thanks for watching tho!💕
I can’t get over that fact you think you have really thick hair💀
Because it is :)
Totally is ✌️
