I have a 2019 Ioniq Plugin and its a great car. Its my 70 mile daily commuter car that I plug in at at home every night and get an avg. of 90 -100mpg. Fantastic warranty to boot!

We love our ioniq. It gets great gas mileage and we are constantly amazed at the amount of stuff we can get into the back of it because of the lift back.
Hey, just stumbled upon your review. I actually live in Korea and have been driving this car since August (it's considered the 2019 "new" version over here). Not sure what the "limited" trim would be compared to mine. They go by I, N, and Q over here. I got the N trim with every option except the roof and chrome interior. So the regen breaking is great and can really improve your fuel economy in the city. I nearly doubled my kl/L once I got some practice. It's a little less efficient than using the Smart Cruise with the GPS control since that let's the car decide based on the road/incline/route when to regen or speed up (not sure if that's a Korean exclusive thing) and will even change the speed based on the speed limit of the highway (eg. highway speed limit changes from 100 to 80kph, the car will slow down a few hundred meters before the 80kph zone and change the cruise set speed once you hit it). The interior is not as plain if you get the mood lighting which adds a bit of LED glow. It looks really nice and makes the interior feel a bit more premium. Also, two features I love but you didn't mention: The auto-hold button let's you take your foot off the break when you are at a red light and automatically engages the parking break after you turn off the car. The GPS directions will show up on your dash if you're using the multimedia GPS (not Android Auto or Apple Car Play) so you can see the next direction right above your speed. Finally, not sure if you just didn't mention it or didn't know, but those sounds the car makes in EV mode are supposed to be for pedestrians. The backup noise is pretty obviously a pedestrian warning but even the forward noise is there so people can hear the car a little better since most EV cars are pretty much silent. It's supposed to be a fake engine sound. Anyway, it's a great car but for the price (in the US) I'm not sure if it's worth it. It was actually a bit cheaper over here and pretty much tax free but without those benefits, most people might be better off getting something else.
I test drove the ioniq, prius AWD, and niro today. The ioniq was heads and tells above the other two. I was shocked. The blue base trim with 15 inch tires glided over potholes and really was actually peppy to feed onto the 65 mph interstate. I wish it was as roomy as the Niro. It's only downside. But it's styling was by far the best of the three too. Super user friendly dash. Im really shocked at how much I want this car.
I drive a KIA Niro LX HEV which has the exact same drivetrain as the Hyundai Ioniq, but the Niro has slightly more headroom and slightly more cargo space at the expense of slightly lower fuel economy. I have owned this Niro since December of 2018 when it was purchased brand new for $23k!! It now has 26,000 miles on it and it has averaged 50-54 mpg in town and approximately 42-44 on the highway. 60 mpg in the city is not too difficult to accomplish. The Niro also currently holds the record for the highest fuel economy averaged on a coast to coast trip of 76 mpg!!! If a Hyundai Ioniq was used instead it probably would have been over 80 mpg.
And costs less, my girlfriend rolled out at $18 900, NIRO was listed at $24 600 add atrociously high title and registration fees that amounted to almost $1100.
I have a 2017 Ioniq HEV that has everything except the sunroof. All the radar stuff, lane departure, etc. I only paid $23k. I can't believe they went up $10k in 3 years. Damn.
I think the 2017 only had lane departure warning, not lane keep assist. When I was shopping for one the lane keep assist was a most for me. Also all that stuff comes on the SEL which is much closer to the price point you paid. The Limited adds some other stuff like the sunroof, but you can get all the safety tech on the SEL.

I am getting one. I didnt hear much about the Ride Quality or how comfortable it is to drive. Good review as a "Now Get it" car showing the exterior and its practicality. I think its a great starter guy for for people who want to save on gas and want some tech to feel at ease.
The 2020 SEL trim is now the 2019 Limited. While the 2020 Limited is the 2019 Limited with the old tech package. The 2020 SE is the new sweet spot, it's the 2019 SEL plus Blue Link, but minus adaptive cruise control. For me, that may be a deal breaker as the jump from SE to SEL is $4K with the adaptive cruise control being the only feature that matters to me between the two.
FYI. I think you made a mistake. You said the battery/hybrid system has a lifetime warranty. I just read on Hyundai's website. 10year/100,000 mile warranty on battery and hybrid system.
I have this exact model , and colour , over here in the UK. I think its an amazing car for the money around £25 k Mark here . The ride and comfort is very good .One thing you need to know with this car is if you are nice and gentle with the throttle the car will stay in electric mode for as long as possible 😉 its brilliant....in my view all cars should be hybrids! .I love my Hyundai ionic! .
I have a 2018 Ioniq premium version, fully equipped, really nice car , great fuel consumption. Nice size boot . The rear window could have better visibility,but it is what it is . Overall it's a great car.
2 things - The car does drive in EV mode under slow speeds, typically under 35 km/hr (because who wants to use their gas looking for a parking spot right?). The sound is called VESS (Virtual Engine Sound System) by Hyundai terminology and meant to simulate an engine and used to inform pedestrians that there is a nearby vehicle. If you notice, the sound speed increases in 3 different levels and frequency and it can be manually adjusted via the central dash display but it cannot be turned off under NA law. Its a love hate feature. There is a fuse in the central hood fusebox that can disconnect this feature but I do not recommend you do it because it is also the same fuse for various ESC controllers.
The ONE thing the Ioniq has is the missing wiper in the back. I'm driving the Ioniq BEV and sometimes I wish the car would have a wiper like the Prius I drove before.
@@gerbre1 They should also install a snow shovel for the rear window, in Finland there can easily be 10 cm of snow on top of a PARKED CAR. I've never wished for a wiper when driving, the upper part of rear window stays clear without one.
Not a bad review. I do like the updated screens and lights. They did not get to try the lane keeping assist, not a long enough drive. SEL with tech pack is the value spec at about 8k less but most of the good add-ons but those can change year to year
@@theexmann I can't say for the 2020, but the outgoing model was not very popular and in my area they sat on dealership lots for what seemed forever. Since the new model is much better looking, I would think these won't sit at dealers as long, but it has 2 things working against it: 1.) The Toyota's reputation compared to Hyundai's. 2.) Buyers are finding that Toyota, Honda, and Nissan also sell pretty good hybrid crossover vehicles which allows them to move out of a sedan/hatchback. The Prius isn't even Toyota's top selling hybrid anymore.
@@Ikindapray You are joking. The markup on all vehicles is around 20% or more. Dealers get special deals that hide the real cost of the vehicles, which is way less than the invoice sticker.
@@BanBiofuels I believe you are referencing to "Hold Back", but for most companies hold back is 3%... And Micah is right, the base Ioniq has a markup of around $500-$750. Then with holdback 3% of cost: $25,000 * 0.03 = $750, which dealers will likely not discount as they are also a business and need some business sense to sell a vehicle. In total, Hyundai's have about 2%-4% of mark up from cost to MSRP, which is probably the lowest on average in the industry. then 3% below cost in hold back. Don't be greedy.
The lease deals on these are good if you can find one. Mine was $2k DAS (-$1.5k from state rebate) + $150/mo for 36mo/10k. Was offered $2.5K DAS for 12k as well.
It looks way better than the ugly Prius. Glad the gauge cluster is in front of the driver behind the steering wheel instead of in the center like the Prius.
I was at a dealer and showed a little interest in a 2020 ioniq hybrid limited (not plug-in). I said I'd think on it. The next day they offered me $9,100 off MSRP without any negotiating or haggling.
@@Bomont756 for the price, not a bad car. It's been in the shop 7 times in the first 5 months because of engine error codes that weren't even in Hyundai's code database yet. They've had to replace the navigation/hud display to resolve the problem. Gas mileage is 6-8mpg lower than the EPA ratings, which is quite disappointing.

if you must buy new, get the middle SEL trim. If it must have all the whistles and bells of the top of the line Limited, get something used. Otherwise lease it. By the way, I'm not usually into red cars but I have to say that looks pretty snappy.
Sharp looking in red! I still wish Hyundai, and other car manufacturers, included a rear wiper blade on any vehicle with such slanted hatch glass -- it is a royal pain to drive a hatch without a wiper blade during rain or snow. And for $35K, I think it's more than competitive, even more so when taking Hyundai's reliabity into account. Definitely a "buy!" Great video, guys! Leasing isn't an option for me. I will be driving 62 miles each way to work, thats close to 30,000 miles a year. Factory lease option is 10,000 miles per year.
It can do both. In eco mode, the speed change is slow in order to burn less fuel (be more efficient) and at the same time gets the help of the electric motor (like 30 more HP) giving a good amount of power overall. In sports mode it has no consideration for efficiency gives you all the power from both motors, so it "rev up and down" with throttle.
For a fully loaded car, $32k is ok. 54-55 mpg, great range(?), and "normal" refueling times-- that's my idea of high tech working without compromise. Of course, a performance version with a bigger electric motor and turbo and/or supercharged gas engine would be a buy for me. Like a better VW GTI S 6-sp would be ideal: great handling and performance when I want it, fuel efficient when driven normally, stealthy when you're not on the gas, good practical cargo space, moderate price, and FUN to drive. If Hyundai could do that with the Ioniq (a poor man's 918?)...I can only hope.
It's still expensive. I bought my 17 sonata hybrid last year, which is significantly more well equipped, for 21k. And a limited model hybrid is only 27k after rebate, which is significant larger on rear seat, better ride (multilink rear), comes with rear sunshade, ventilation seat, etc. for your need tho, you can get a Veloster N which will blow the GTI in dust.

I leased the 2019 Ioniq fully electric and it's quite good - even in base trim. Who can complain for $109 a month? But with just 140 miles of range, it's best for shorter trips.

The Ioniq is great outside of one issue I've found. This thing is a snow magnet. It has very shallow wheel wells that very quickly get packed with snow, as well as the underside of the car. In the winters here in Minnesota, I have to clean out the wheel wells every time I stop or the build up starts to prevent turning.
I don't see he this can compete with the Prius. My wife has a 2018 Toyota Prius Prime Advanced, and we only paid $27,500 for it. The first 25 miles is electric only, and even with it switches to hybrid, it gets 55 miles to the gallon. According to Toyota, you can get up to 640 miles on a single tank. My wife LOVES her car. Most days she doesn't have to use ANY gas. Every month I top of the gas tank, and it only takes about $5 to fill it back up after 30 days of use.
I don't know what Tesla has to do with a HEV.... Nevertheless I have the Niro PHEV and my brother the Ioniq PHEV. Powertrains are the same and the cars drive fairly similar the Niro a bit more to the comfort side of things. They can achieve 35 miles on a charge but thats max at 55 mph. They do have really good fuel economy runing in hybrid mode (when they are out of battery) higher 50's mpg are fairly easy to achieve. But they are fairly slow cars unless put in sports mode. And there really is no comparison to a Model 3 which I have as well - the cars couldn't be more different when it comes to driver experience. The model 3 is a spaceship the Ioniq/Niro are just practical, fuel efficient, well build cars with great warranty.
I liked the 2019 interior far more than the 2020. In 2019, you had some wood trim; that's been deleted, and replaced with gray plastic. The organic, flowing look is gone, replaced with an LCD panel that looks like it was duct taped onto the dash. The elimination of buttons means that you cannot control anything on the center console while wearing gloves; so when you get into your car in the dead of winter, you have to remove your gloves to turn the rear defroster on and set the heating. Stunningly stupid. And the drivers instrument cluster... what, they ran out of money, and couldn't completely enclose the instruments? What possible purpose does that gap behind the instrument enclosure serve? I'm really, really disappointed. I had planned to buy a 2020; but they've destroyed it, so I've changed my mind. I might look at picking up a 2019 on the used market, or - more likely - just run with what I've got.
Ideas from Genesis designers are trickling to the parent Hyundai cars. For instance, the Ioniq headlights are directly inspired by the current generation G80 tail lights. Look!
I’ve owned one for about six months now and there were a couple things that you missed There’s a proximity sensor, six to be exact. Whether it is a curb or a person walking by your car the car will beep depending on the location and proximity of whatever is near it. I haven’t even remotely touched a single curb because each one of the sensors goes from a light yellow and normal tone being to a dark red and aggressive beeping As for the interior it is a little plan during the day but if you drive it at night under the touchscreen display where the AC controls are, as well as over the glove box just underneath that silver line on the dash there are some beautiful deep blue lights that come on when your headlights are on/at night . I picked up a cheap five dollar lights set in currently when my lights come on the dash as well as the floor glows a deep blue that is the same color as the display which also makes it look pretty futuristic There of course are also some small things like when you lock the car the side mirrors fold in, adaptive cruise control that gives you a great amount of distance between you and the car in front of you, Automatically Breaking before collision (has saved me twice from hitting something at night), as well as an eye-catching color change in your display before a collision that definitely gives you enough time to react, and I would say the last thing is the automatic highbeams if you’re driving at night. So as long as you have your headlights at two automatic you won’t have to worry about getting pulled over for having your highbeams on too close to somebody because the detection of any light a couple hundred feet in front of your car will automatically shut the highbeams off. With all that said yes I do use this car for Uber eats and DoorDash as well as for a courier service and after about 30,000 miles it looks like I’ve been averaging 54 miles per gallon. 560 mile range on a full tank. Honestly I think it feels a lot like the Elantra, just a lot more tech-based the way you would imagine a hybrid would be. It does feel a little small but to be honest if you drive aggressively it feels like a bullet in that sense. So far it is my favorite car and I’ll leave a list of the cars that I’ve had below (not really that impressive of a list) 2005 Honda Accord 2014 Nissan versa hatchback 2017 Nissan Rogue 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander 2017 Toyota Corolla 2019 Hyundai Elantra SEL
As a LYFT driver, this is my car of choice. I do not have the fully loaded version extreme basic car. I agree with these guys it's a great car, BUT for ride share, 3 very disappointing (albiet just a personal pet peeves) 2 major drawbacks on the basic model - no internal hatchback release nor is the fob coated for hatchback release. The only way to open hatchback is by getting it of car and manually opening it. - as a rideshare driver, completely inconvenient. The third thing is the passenger side back seat belt is a pain. Where you latch the buckel in, is behind the shoulder strap of the middle seat. Completely hidden. AS A RIDESHARE driver, I have to instruct at least 15 out of the 20 rides a day that I do (ok on a very slow day) but a majority of my rides... Design flaw . Great car overwise, I get about 61 mpg if I'm driving lots on the freeway I get 57/58 mpg. On the average about 640 miles per 11 gal tank OH BIG TIP. if you exceed your speed limit by about 5mph then tap the break, it throws the engine into electric mode. - mostly if battery is 50% or greater. If on freeway and your using a lot of York (65 mph + or going up inclines or hills) you will either be in full gas or hybrid mode, but going down hills or driving Flats tap your break see if it kicks in to electric. Play with it though just occasionally tap your break and see if / when it goes to electric.
You don't lease any Hybrid cars. It defeats the purpose of not having to worry about miles you put on while saving gas. Are you willing to pay the penalty over 12,000 miles per year on lease? If you drive less than 12,000 miles per year, you could go with regular gas vehicles with 30 to 35 mpg that are much less expensive.
It looks way way way better then the Prius that's for sure, another great choice is the Honda Insight, that gets amazing mpg & it looks amazing. There's no reason to make a hideous design just because you want it to be known its a hybrid & gets over 50 mpg.
This car is the best bang for your buck on the market. I own a 2017 and love it, although I wish the visibility was better. If they could increase the range to 65+ mpg, I would upgrade in a minute.

My 1966 Corona 5 door fastback (liftback). It travelled from across the Nullarbor 3 times and my cruising speed was about 75mph and averaged 37 mph.

If you want the most comfortable ride, get the smaller wheels. I'm super happy with my 2018 hybrid SEL. Driving dynamics are really good for me.

2 things - The car does drive in EV mode under slow speeds, typically under 35 km/hr (because who wants to use their gas looking for a parking spot right?). The sound is called VESS (Virtual Engine Sound System) by Hyundai terminology and meant to simulate an engine and used to inform pedestrians that there is a nearby vehicle. If you notice, the sound speed increases in 3 different levels and frequency and it can be manually adjusted via the central dash display but it cannot be turned off under NA law. Its a love hate feature. There is a fuse in the central hood fusebox that can disconnect this feature but I do not recommend you do it because it is also the same fuse for various ESC controllers.
Is there a way to force the DRL operate with headlights on ?

The ONE thing the Ioniq has is the missing wiper in the back. I'm driving the Ioniq BEV and sometimes I wish the car would have a wiper like the Prius I drove before.
I haven't ever felt the need for one in the hybrid.

@@gerbre1 They should also install a snow shovel for the rear window, in Finland there can easily be 10 cm of snow on top of a PARKED CAR.
I've never wished for a wiper when driving, the upper part of rear window stays clear without one.
Just pick up this hybrid model, and I gotta say, it's pretty quiet, and the interior is not so bad. It's very up to date with modern technology.
Not a bad review. I do like the updated screens and lights. They did not get to try the lane keeping assist, not a long enough drive. SEL with tech pack is the value spec at about 8k less but most of the good add-ons but those can change year to year

The $32k model is the top trim, like they mentioned in the video. The base model is about $24k.

They have really improved the looks a lot. If you buy one, the base model has the value. Negotiate and you can get 15% below MSRP.

I can't say for the 2020, but the outgoing model was not very popular and in my area they sat on dealership lots for what seemed forever.
Since the new model is much better looking, I would think these won't sit at dealers as long, but it has 2 things working against it:
1.) The Toyota's reputation compared to Hyundai's.
2.) Buyers are finding that Toyota, Honda, and Nissan also sell pretty good hybrid crossover vehicles which allows them to move out of a sedan/hatchback.
The Prius isn't even Toyota's top selling hybrid anymore.

@@Ikindapray You are joking. The markup on all vehicles is around 20% or more. Dealers get special deals that hide the real cost of the vehicles, which is way less than the invoice sticker.

I believe you are referencing to "Hold Back", but for most companies hold back is 3%...
And Micah is right, the base Ioniq has a markup of around $500-$750.
Then with holdback 3% of cost: $25,000 * 0.03 = $750, which dealers will likely not discount as they are also a business and need some business sense to sell a vehicle.
In total, Hyundai's have about 2%-4% of mark up from cost to MSRP, which is probably the lowest on average in the industry.
then 3% below cost in hold back.

The lease deals on these are good if you can find one. Mine was $2k DAS (-$1.5k from state rebate) + $150/mo for 36mo/10k. Was offered $2.5K DAS for 12k as well.

I was at a dealer and showed a little interest in a 2020 ioniq hybrid limited (not plug-in). I said I'd think on it. The next day they offered me $9,100 off MSRP without any negotiating or haggling.
Did you buy it and if you did how do you like the car?
@@Bomont756 for the price, not a bad car. It's been in the shop 7 times in the first 5 months because of engine error codes that weren't even in Hyundai's code database yet. They've had to replace the navigation/hud display to resolve the problem. Gas mileage is 6-8mpg lower than the EPA ratings, which is quite disappointing.
@@chadmangum4158 appreciate you responding back and sorry to hear about the issues you had. I was planning on test driving it tomorrow and possibly look at the Kia Niro. I have a long commute and just started looking into these kinds of vehicles.

if you must buy new, get the middle SEL trim. If it must have all the whistles and bells of the top of the line Limited, get something used. Otherwise lease it.

Sharp looking in red! I still wish Hyundai, and other car manufacturers, included a rear wiper blade on any vehicle with such slanted hatch glass -- it is a royal pain to drive a hatch without a wiper blade during rain or snow.
And for $35K, I think it's more than competitive, even more so when taking Hyundai's reliabity into account. Definitely a "buy!"

I haven't really felt like a need for a wiper owning one, and it would reduce aerodynamics. But I have also never experienced having one.

Leasing isn't an option for me. I will be driving 62 miles each way to work, thats close to 30,000 miles a year. Factory lease option is 10,000 miles per year.
When the 1.6 engine runs, is it _constant speed_ like many other hybrids, or does it rev up and down with throttle?
It can do both. In eco mode, the speed change is slow in order to burn less fuel (be more efficient) and at the same time gets the help of the electric motor (like 30 more HP) giving a good amount of power overall. In sports mode it has no consideration for efficiency gives you all the power from both motors, so it "rev up and down" with throttle.

For a fully loaded car, $32k is ok. 54-55 mpg, great range(?), and "normal" refueling times-- that's my idea of high tech working without compromise. Of course, a performance version with a bigger electric motor and turbo and/or supercharged gas engine would be a buy for me. Like a better VW GTI S 6-sp would be ideal: great handling and performance when I want it, fuel efficient when driven normally, stealthy when you're not on the gas, good practical cargo space, moderate price, and FUN to drive. If Hyundai could do that with the Ioniq (a poor man's 918?)...I can only hope.
It's still expensive. I bought my 17 sonata hybrid last year, which is significantly more well equipped, for 21k. And a limited model hybrid is only 27k after rebate, which is significant larger on rear seat, better ride (multilink rear), comes with rear sunshade, ventilation seat, etc. for your need tho, you can get a Veloster N which will blow the GTI in dust.
@@dearbulls This car seemed to be fully loaded. And it has tech that wasn't available on previous year Hyundai cars so I doubt your car is better equipped.
@@theexmann these are 2 different segment. From suspension setup to power, room, drivability, ride comfort, to all equipment level, a limited B segment sonata is always better than a A segment top trim small car.

I leased the 2019 Ioniq fully electric and it's quite good - even in base trim. Who can complain for $109 a month? But with just 140 miles of range, it's best for shorter trips.

The Ioniq is great outside of one issue I've found.
This thing is a snow magnet.
It has very shallow wheel wells that very quickly get packed with snow, as well as the underside of the car. In the winters here in Minnesota, I have to clean out the wheel wells every time I stop or the build up starts to prevent turning.
I wonder if the Prius does the same thing as I would imagine small wheelwells contribute to a better aerodynamic profile?
Visibility is kind of crappy too.

I don't see he this can compete with the Prius. My wife has a 2018 Toyota Prius Prime Advanced, and we only paid $27,500 for it. The first 25 miles is electric only, and even with it switches to hybrid, it gets 55 miles to the gallon. According to Toyota, you can get up to 640 miles on a single tank. My wife LOVES her car. Most days she doesn't have to use ANY gas. Every month I top of the gas tank, and it only takes about $5 to fill it back up after 30 days of use.
Well you're talking about the plug in, this review was just the hybrid. The plug-in Ioniq is very comparable.
I don't know what Tesla has to do with a HEV....
Nevertheless I have the Niro PHEV and my brother the Ioniq PHEV. Powertrains are the same and the cars drive fairly similar the Niro a bit more to the comfort side of things.
They can achieve 35 miles on a charge but thats max at 55 mph.
They do have really good fuel economy runing in hybrid mode (when they are out of battery) higher 50's mpg are fairly easy to achieve. But they are fairly slow cars unless put in sports mode.
And there really is no comparison to a Model 3 which I have as well - the cars couldn't be more different when it comes to driver experience.
The model 3 is a spaceship the Ioniq/Niro are just practical, fuel efficient, well build cars with great warranty.

I liked the 2019 interior far more than the 2020. In 2019, you had some wood trim; that's been deleted, and replaced with gray plastic. The organic, flowing look is gone, replaced with an LCD panel that looks like it was duct taped onto the dash. The elimination of buttons means that you cannot control anything on the center console while wearing gloves; so when you get into your car in the dead of winter, you have to remove your gloves to turn the rear defroster on and set the heating. Stunningly stupid. And the drivers instrument cluster... what, they ran out of money, and couldn't completely enclose the instruments? What possible purpose does that gap behind the instrument enclosure serve? I'm really, really disappointed. I had planned to buy a 2020; but they've destroyed it, so I've changed my mind. I might look at picking up a 2019 on the used market, or - more likely - just run with what I've got.
The 2019 is fantastic, the wheels, screens, gauge clusters are all much better, and the front grill looks nicer
Any fully loaded hybrid anything is in this price range. No need for surprise.

Ideas from Genesis designers are trickling to the parent Hyundai cars. For instance, the Ioniq headlights are directly inspired by the current generation G80 tail lights. Look!

I’ve owned one for about six months now and there were a couple things that you missed
There’s a proximity sensor, six to be exact. Whether it is a curb or a person walking by your car the car will beep depending on the location and proximity of whatever is near it. I haven’t even remotely touched a single curb because each one of the sensors goes from a light yellow and normal tone being to a dark red and aggressive beeping
As for the interior it is a little plan during the day but if you drive it at night under the touchscreen display where the AC controls are, as well as over the glove box just underneath that silver line on the dash there are some beautiful deep blue lights that come on when your headlights are on/at night . I picked up a cheap five dollar lights set in currently when my lights come on the dash as well as the floor glows a deep blue that is the same color as the display which also makes it look pretty futuristic
There of course are also some small things like when you lock the car the side mirrors fold in, adaptive cruise control that gives you a great amount of distance between you and the car in front of you, Automatically Breaking before collision (has saved me twice from hitting something at night), as well as an eye-catching color change in your display before a collision that definitely gives you enough time to react, and I would say the last thing is the automatic highbeams if you’re driving at night. So as long as you have your headlights at two automatic you won’t have to worry about getting pulled over for having your highbeams on too close to somebody because the detection of any light a couple hundred feet in front of your car will automatically shut the highbeams off.
With all that said yes I do use this car for Uber eats and DoorDash as well as for a courier service and after about 30,000 miles it looks like I’ve been averaging 54 miles per gallon. 560 mile range on a full tank.
Honestly I think it feels a lot like the Elantra, just a lot more tech-based the way you would imagine a hybrid would be. It does feel a little small but to be honest if you drive aggressively it feels like a bullet in that sense. So far it is my favorite car and I’ll leave a list of the cars that I’ve had below (not really that impressive of a list)

As a LYFT driver, this is my car of choice. I do not have the fully loaded version extreme basic car.
I agree with these guys it's a great car, BUT for ride share, 3 very disappointing (albiet just a personal pet peeves) 2 major drawbacks on the basic model - no internal hatchback release nor is the fob coated for hatchback release. The only way to open hatchback is by getting it of car and manually opening it. - as a rideshare driver, completely inconvenient. The third thing is the passenger side back seat belt is a pain. Where you latch the buckel in, is behind the shoulder strap of the middle seat. Completely hidden. AS A RIDESHARE driver, I have to instruct at least 15 out of the 20 rides a day that I do (ok on a very slow day) but a majority of my rides... Design flaw .
Great car overwise, I get about 61 mpg if I'm driving lots on the freeway I get 57/58 mpg. On the average about 640 miles per 11 gal tank
OH BIG TIP. if you exceed your speed limit by about 5mph then tap the break, it throws the engine into electric mode. - mostly if battery is 50% or greater. If on freeway and your using a lot of York (65 mph + or going up inclines or hills) you will either be in full gas or hybrid mode, but going down hills or driving Flats tap your break see if it kicks in to electric. Play with it though just occasionally tap your break and see if / when it goes to electric.

You don't lease any Hybrid cars. It defeats the purpose of not having to worry about miles you put on while saving gas. Are you willing to pay the penalty over 12,000 miles per year on lease? If you drive less than 12,000 miles per year, you could go with regular gas vehicles with 30 to 35 mpg that are much less expensive.
Is it 12,000 a year? I leased it and averaging 8,000+mi. I need to take a mini road trip. Need to figure out how to take back seats out first.
It looks way way way better then the Prius that's for sure, another great choice is the Honda Insight, that gets amazing mpg & it looks amazing. There's no reason to make a hideous design just because you want it to be known its a hybrid & gets over 50 mpg.
This car is the best bang for your buck on the market. I own a 2017 and love it, although I wish the visibility was better.
If they could increase the range to 65+ mpg, I would upgrade in a minute.
