Arnold Tutorial - Rendering Clouds using the Volume Shader
Вставка

- This simple tutorial demonstrates how to create a cloud effect using a combination of the volume_shader with a Maya cloud 3d node. It is possible to achieve a wide range of cloudy skies using this setup.

the sub explanation for attributes is awesome ! thanks for that
For those using 2023 or newer, create an aiStandardVolume node AND an aiStandardSurface node in the hypershade. Then plug the output of your aiStandardVolume into the 'Volume Shader' Input of your aiStandardSurfaceSG.
Its almost too easy :D Thank you!
Nice!
ok after a mental breakdown i figured out why it doesnt work when i do it. its 100% autodesk again. in the latest maya version 24 something something, you have to create a standard surface first and then create the volume shader and connect that to the first shading group node of the sphere. THEN you get the results. otherwise you see shait. veeeeeeeeeery frustrating and cant mention enough how im done with maya. basic things just seem to not work. or worse. someone shows something in maya and then 1 year later its not working. this cant be happening. a multi billion dollar company cant get it straight. i personally think its horrible that these things happen. absolutely hurts the product which is a great one when it works. but so many basic things are screwed up and i started recording them and i plan on making a video about it. hope autodesk wakes up from its coma. c4d and blender running circles around them *shrug*
Hello i would try to do this on my version of MAYA 2023 with arnold but it looks like in my material attribut i have only Arnold Shader Surface available Volume is not showing up and i don tt know why
use hypershade instead of assign new material
has anyone tried this on Maya 2024 or newer?? this method seems to not be working for me rn :/
does this method sport maya2020 or not? because I have different settings here
same here was wondering
Either explain what you're selecting, or type it. Where on earth is the aiStandardVolume?
You used a sphere for the environment why?
Why not? :)
@@LeeGriggs I just wanted to know if there's any advantage using this method over using an HDRI in the environment slot.
Sphere stays a sphere for some reason.
3ds max no?
is this render on gpu ?
No, im hitting this wall currently and GPU does not support cloud node or aiNoise...Arnold GPU support has me re-thinking my next software upgrade tbh. I need to look into where it is currently compared to my tired old software.
@@Fyveonit Arnold GPU gotta be the worst GPU renderer out there lol. Just go with Redshift/Octane
Like a Bryce 3 in 2001 year.
Autodesk not updating there tutorials is so annoying
Nice but not realistic. Somehow Arnold cannot make cloud realistic like Hyperion. I don't know why.
