Arnold Tutorial - Rendering an Ocean with Displacement (GPU)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- This tutorial covers how to render an ocean scene using nothing but a polygon plane. The detail for the ocean shader will come from a vector displacement map. There are a variety of attributes to set when using displacement mapping. However, it is very simple to set up and get convincing results using the right settings.

Thank you so much, Im trying to improve using this software and you really helped me
you really professional!
I love this software.
Thank u good sir...
how do i get the top/crest of the waves to be sharp?, mine looks too rounded/bloby... . i messed around with the displacement scale and bounds padding value but it is having no effect.
impressive dis placement with GPU it's just next time show the shader network, for non Maya users and also share a video with better quality, it's kind of ironic that the YT channel is on rendering and the video is on 720P, final minor thing, ocean use Fresnel effect heavily, it should be mirror solid on glancing angles and completely transparent at 90 degrees.
Thanks for the feedback. Normally I do show the shading graph but in this instance I thought it didn't warrant it because it was so simple and every app does displacement differently. I always record at 720p as anything above is difficult to read at 720p and on a laptop, tablet, TV and phone. I want to keep the tutorials simple and easy to follow. I guess the shading would look more mirror like without the bump map and high displacement value.
@@LeeGriggs keep up the good work, great video, Arnold is definitely going with solid steps forward.
Is it possible to animate vector displacement maps ??
the vector map is not available on website.. is there any way to get it ?
unfortunately the download link is not working anymore. Where can we download instead please?
