Welcome back, Ollie! I want to thank you again for suddenly stopping your Planet Coaster videos out of nowhere. I was into that series. But then I saw that you switched over to SC and got more info on it. Next thing I know, I'm in the verse in an RSI starter ship. LOL! That was just over a year ago. Haven't looked back. 👍
I crashed to desktop while testing the New Player Experience out of New Babbage 2x times. 1st time I was on the metroloop and on recovery I was still travelling on the metro in same spot on train with it at it new location along the route. I was present for the journey even when not logged on. 2nd time I was on first flight to station and had cruise on, altitude was 15k and when i got back in I was at 65K. Both times it saved my location and picked back up on the quest where I was. Still completed the tutorail and paid out. This is huge for the game.
Looks like they buffed the cargo capacity from 48 to 64, nice. Though according to erkul games it has the same flying characteristics as the A1 making it a little more sluggish than the MSR in every way aside from maybe forward acceleration. It seems like it really should handle better considering the MSR weighs 5 times more, and can carry 1.78 times more cargo.
@OrangeWinchester I'm just going by the stats you can see. In terms of how many degrees per second it can pitch up and down, yaw left and right, and roll are all slightly slower than the MSR. That likely doesn't tell the whole story of course. If Inertia is based on weight, then the A1 should change it's speed more responsively even if all of it's aiming type motions are slower. For example even with those aiming motions being slower, if the A1 has less inertia than it will be quicker to stop that motion and so will feel more responsive. I just don't know if weight actually works that way or if it's just for flavour. Or maybe there are some other hidden stats that explain your experience.
The real thing that's starting to cause a HUGE burst of development speed is SQ42 being feature complete. Polish phase is just small specific teams of devs hashing out the actual gameplay now during full polish phase before optimization/QA phase. EVERYONE else is now full throttle on PU side development so now you're seeing a lightspeed leap in development speed, and getting the tech working is going to burst it even more, it's a great time to keep eyes on star cit, things are really picking up now.
After more then 10 years, after promisses after promisses made, after they feature bombed the fuck out of that game, I am only believing that when I see it. Call me pessimistic or whatever you want. I dont care. I have read all the arguments, all the counter arguments... Just saying you hold your horses and dont get on that hype train. People fall for it too easy.
Playing with the tractor beam actually reminds me of when I was playing Half Life 2 for the first time. The physics and object interaction was just too fun to play with, and I spent a full hour wandering around the train station (the very first area) picking up random objects like boots and tin cans and food boxes and tossing them at the guards to provoke reactions out of them. Being able to just yoink a hospital bed out of the hangar for your ship is amazing, and the NPC hijacking is just hilarious. XD
Hey Ollie! I loved the videos ever since I stumbled on them. I still haven't given Star citizen a try myself, but seeing your coverage is always entertaining with your format and commentary Get well soon!
You can feel the effect of better coordination in the teams. The integration of Benoit and his team has been a great thing for the project. Tractor beam on ships is huge, and the C1 can load cargo right into the bay. They did say some of the other ships are not working as intended, but it would seem the C1 is doing the best right now.
If the shockingly huge 3.21.1 patch size is going to set up a trend anywhere close to its size and isn't a lucky coincidence, Star Citizen could actually grow good fast enough that even if SQ42 gets poor reception it wouldn't matter for Star Citizen.
5:00 Apparently, it is quite a lot different from the outside too. It's longer by 1m, wider by 50cm and bunch of wing elements are different, like the tips and the entire area next to the intakes. Also, the spine and the tail are completely different. So overall siluette is similar, especially from the distance, but up close it's recognizable as a different ship I'd say.
I like the Aesthetics of the Cutty more and the side doors are nice for loading things in space but it's kind of hard to compete with a ship that is so much newer and designed for 32 SCU containers... Until the Zeus CL comes in.
When I first saw the cutty…..I was like wow….it looks….idk a bit rough and slightly on the ugly side compared to the crusader ships and the gladius. But then I got the cutty red. And the size, the almost warthog look, and….the emergency lights! Omg it was just so awesome. Honestly it’s larger than it looks, and idk it just grew on me immediately.
I recently came back to SC (at the end of 3.22) and the moment I saw the C1... I instantly pledged it. Such an amazing starter ship! (I upgraded from the 315P, which I was using as a starter for cargo and stuff).
I can't wait. I've had this game for awhile now and it wasn't really worth trying to chug along on my 1080ti, but am upgrading to a 40XX card at the end of the month. This is my first game I want to jump into and be impressed with my new digs.
It's quite different from the Freelancer and such thats when fully loaded with cargo you just got some tiny space to squeeze along the wall, but the C1 got possibly enough space to park a car inbetween the cargo boxes. So it definitely has space to carry more than 64SCU, so they're probably going to justify it with mass and weight or some such.
Considering they are building all their tech themselves, its impressive how much theyve managed to create. SC is a space life sim not just a space game
Around 3.18, we managed to bring Hurston security NPCs to Grim hex, we were curious if they would attack people who have a CS. Turns out, the NPCs respected the local "laws" of GH, and didn't attack anyone, sad moment. Also, all NPCs from any station/city can not be killed: we tried everything (guns, ramming them, etc), nothing works.
19:55 you demonstrated exactly what I've been saying for ages about ship tractor beams being placed right dead center above the doors - how do you expect to load cargo like that? CIG - what is geometry?
I have the spirit in the live build because i bought the zeus and since the zeus is not available yet i got the a1 spirit. Its the coolest ship i ever owned but i wished there was a door to get out at the front of the cockpit because when you stow a ship or vehiclr in the back its hard to get out of the ship.
Always great to see ur vids!! Have a few quick questions, that they've prolly allready answered, but where is IAE going to be located at?(microtech) or where? And what dates in November in U.S. does it start? Thanks again for your videos!! o7!! 🤙🏽 oh and also, are you looking fwd to the new Zeus MkII's coming out?
This is kind of what the MSR should be, internally. Huge open space, no "crawl space", etc. It'd have amazing storage. However, I can't really use the C-1. The MSR has more range, is better shielded for sensitive cargo smuggling, and has more firepower and more shields. C-1 is just.... meh. It'll be cool if you like it for collecting but in it's size class, the Freelancer wins on all counts except "cool looks." Even the Cutlass wins over this because it has more firepower (missiles and turret) It is a shame that it's not more like a smaller MSR... or rather the MSR isn't more like this with more cargo space. I'd like something in this category that has the turrets and shielded cargo of the MSR. That would be actually useful.
Dammit but I want the tractor beams now! I just hope those tractor effects are WIP placeholder because it might be a little difficult to do precision placement with half your screen glowing blue
If the C1 is getting experimental versions of its tractor beam, then hopefully the one on the Cutlass Black is more likely to come sooner rather than later.
There's been rendering issues across the board with this patch, Olli. I don't think it's your cache. I think it's a glitch in the build, and it's been reported on the Issue Council. It'll be fixed before live, for sure.
I watched Space Tomato crash 13 times on stream last night lmao I cant blame youtubers for only including the working parts of the game Oli himself said he often replays entire sessions to get a consistent video because no one wants to watch things bug out all the time
It seems to me that 2-4 S9 bombs can be loaded into this ship, and with the help of a tractor beam can be dropped from the cargo hold, but I'm not sure. Is this tractor beam with 1MN force able to lift S9 bombs? Check it please.
Will be nice once the ship is released to those of us in the community that are not $1000 deep or over 40 hours a week in documenting the game bugs to CIG website.

Ollie the kind of guy to apologize for being sick
Seriously tho, keep up the awesome work, and get well soon👍

That's really good news!
Definitely recommend increasing RAM to 32GB at a minimum to reduce crashes!
I'm the one who did the "IAE 2953 sign" by the way :P.
Thanks for the upload!

The C1 also has twice the engines lol
It hasn't even gone through a balance pass yet.
I've flown the A1 and I certainly do not think it handles worse than the MSR. The MSR handles like a ship which is much larger than this one.

That NPC in the back was the hidden gem of this. Great video.
9:21 1MN = 1 Mega Newton = 1 000 000 Newton (metric unit of Force)
2:47 "It drops bombs that explode..." What else did you expect those bombs to do?
All these years spent getting the tech to work...
Imagine the progress that'll come once all that tech is ready.

Dude- you got my rolling so hard. That was funny when you were using the ramp as a spatula to flip the NPC back in 😂
A Kel-to right outside of the Nest? Hell yeah. That's a nice QOL improvement.

Huge update, they added 2 new cool ships, tractor beams, game keeping the state of the player if it CTD, and most importantly, kidnapping.
😂
Very good update indeed, but fyi the CTD recovery has been in since 3.18
@@Frank_SB Oh in that case isn't it the same system that prevents ALT F4 mid combat ?

They took my idea of little kel-to shops more often!! :)
C1 showcase starts at 4:40
Can't wait for the E1 Spirit, I honestly can't, I'm dying to get passenger transport in the game.
Hope your feeling better dude

I feel that ship needs a front door too
can you move other ships with the tractor beam too ?
yes
Nice video! Thank you and hope you feel better soon!
Also... try building a base on an outpost landing pad? Maybe the flat surface will help.

Holy crap, my cheeks hurt from laughing at you attempting to scoop up that security guard at the end
I think from the side it looks a litle Bit Like a modern 737
Hey, the microtech train isn't jumping on and off the track. That is an improvement.
"Star Citizen is updating fast..." Something you never heard anyone say about Elite Dangerous.
Considering they are building all their tech themselves, its impressive how much theyve managed to create. SC is a space life sim not just a space game

CIG - what is geometry?
In a universe where you can just print yourself a new body, makes sense to have guns being sold in what are basically corner shops
I hope some developer looks at some stats, and wonder.. "How the heck did that npc, end up on a planet?? "
Cheers Ollie, Microtech looks great. Glad it's not at Orison because no one can land there!

Found one outside of a bunker mission open and I got to fly it yesterday
You and the little dude with the ramp made me laugh. Thanks.
A white/skyblue ship, has a white/skyblue guard, hauling white/skyblue containers, with a white/skyblue multitool.
16:46 that's a bug where the decal of the landing pad is displayed on the surfaces above it
Can it be played on console?
Yes
Microtech gave you a free medical bed, supplies, AND a guard to keep it all secure? Very cool.
The problem with the boxes should be some for the feedback and/or issiu council
I can’t wait for pyro. I’ll start playing again at that point
When you were on your tractor beam and you saw where it said Max Force 1 MN, MN it means millinewton
Can you use the multitool and a large box to block and hit enemies with?
Imagine people playing SC Jenga Championship with these big boxes and tractor beams :D
The '1MN' for 'force' in the turrent stands for 1 Mega Newton
The beds are the escape pods? That is a pretty rad idea if like you end up on a planet and it is now like your little save pod lmao.
i hope you're feeling better man!
Hopped on last night for the first time in months, life just got busy. Still is, but definitely want to make some free time to hop back in the verse

Reminds me of the SR1 ship from Mass Effect!
The ships shape reminds me off the normandy from mass effect
Id love to be able to select this one a temporary placeholder ship while upgrading to Zeus MK II. Currently they only offer the A2 as far as I know :/
If the C1 is getting experimental versions of its tractor beam, then hopefully the one on the Cutlass Black is more likely to come sooner rather than later.
already in (in this PTU)
Pretty much all the ships that have tractor beams got them operational in one form or another. The Caterpillar is finally getting its tractor beams.
I think it's a little thin but would be great if those mini walls were not in the way of things entering the cargo bay.
Casually playing with cargo containers of diamonds...
Can't wait to see what this means for the Caterpillar once they get around to tinkering with its tractor beam.
I'm getting mass effect Normandy vibes at the time stamp of 14:31
Now that larger tractor beams are in the game, will we see farm tractors to attach them too?
There's been rendering issues across the board with this patch, Olli. I don't think it's your cache. I think it's a glitch in the build, and it's been reported on the Issue Council. It'll be fixed before live, for sure.
Holy shit, if I finally get my ship tractor beam for my Constellation Taurus, I am going to be one goddamn happy camper.
This is my number 3 picks, after mercury star runner and cutlass black...
MN is Meganewton or 1 million newtons or 224,809 lbf
what kind of pc spec do you need to run the game this clean. Could my 4070 ti run it as smooth as this guy?
This game looks amazing, ive been debating getting it myself i just haven't made up my mind yet
man cant wait for all this in live
How do you change turret position while in the turret? Is there a keybind for that?
Stanton Test Technical/ PTU ?? Im confused
Haven't been able to fly mine. It spawns through the world and no matter what ship I try to fly they auto explode leaving my hanger.
@Olli43 Probably a little of topic but, where can I know your PC specs? Thanks
So it's an F-4 Phantom with FTL drive?
Why is it that the game always seems to work for streamers but whenever regular players are playing, nothing works?
I watched Space Tomato crash 13 times on stream last night lmao
I cant blame youtubers for only including the working parts of the game
Oli himself said he often replays entire sessions to get a consistent video because no one wants to watch things bug out all the time

A lotta developer hands have been freed up from S42 being feature complete. Seems like updates have been hitting more frequently because of that.
can it fit nova tank cuz its same shape inside?
It seems to me that 2-4 S9 bombs can be loaded into this ship, and with the help of a tractor beam can be dropped from the cargo hold, but I'm not sure. Is this tractor beam with 1MN force able to lift S9 bombs? Check it please.
My question is: does the tractor beam work on the caterpillar since it works on the c1
Yes, it does
afaik not yet. The one we see now is the first pass so not every ship has either functionality or the highest fidelity yet
What’s your favorite PvP ship? I love eclipse with typhoons IX!
Will be nice once the ship is released to those of us in the community that are not $1000 deep or over 40 hours a week in documenting the game bugs to CIG website.
C1 is just Cutlass Black+, also I see they fixed the miniature sun for the radar
the replication layer is working in the PTU it seems
The A1 shñuld have the door in the lateral if its a vip jet ann door back only for keep some commodity
Now we can play yenga for real with 32 SCU boxes and C1 tractor beam :D
from theft to kidnapping.. thats a steep rise in 30 seconds ollie lmao
Iae is at new Babbage again this year ?
Ollie are you in a SC guild? Would be cool to be in.
So I guess the question is, will they put a tractor beam on the C2 as well?
