I'm not sure how much I like the Syulen as a starter ship but I sure as hell look forward to more ships from Gatac. The flat stone slabs design philosophy is so good.
For starter ships, having a cargo bay is far more useful for doing mission running and loading up loot. But this definitely wins in the cool category. I really like any small ship that can maximize its interior space like that. Can't wait to see the Railen too to see what they do at a larger scale. Really impressed by the Xi'an/Gatac design even though I'm not too crazy for the other alien ships.
I like the flight ui, purple is so pretty. I also love all the animations but my favorite is the way the cockpit builds itself around you when you get in the seat. I do feel like on one hand they were very creative with how they used the space they had, but at the same time it causes the ship to feel very loud and crampt.

@@aennaenn7468 It's an altimeter. Altimeters are just barometers. In aviation, altitude refers to height above mean sea level. The term 'height' or 'AGL' (above ground level) is used when referencing distance from the ground. On Earth, the average sea level pressure is 29.92 inches of mercury or 1013.2 hectoPascals. Pilots have to routinely adjust their altimeters for the local sea level pressure, which are broadcast by airports via automated ASOS/AWOS frequencies or by ATIS at controlled airports. Above a certain altitude, all aircraft have to switch to standard pressure (29.92 inHg/1013.2 hPa) and no longer refer to their height as an altitude, but as a flight level. @@JoshSweetvaleYea but all the Xi‘an ships will likely be from Gatac because that’s their clan for building ships. So the design language will hopefully continue in that way.
The way I get out of the hangar is to lift up slightly, then press the crouch button to glide out of the doors, down relative to the pilot. Also, take another careful look at the triangular buttons in this ship... you'll notice that some of them are different from the others in that they have extra controls at the corners or bottom of the triangle. Something tells me we're going to see a lot more people use the auto-land control when in the hangars lol.
Guess it depends if the Hanger is Entered from Above or the Side! I always was worried about ripping off the landing gear, thank god that is harder to do.

Honestly yeah, 2s1 shields is pretty standard for ships of this size, 3s3 is a great armament setup, and they're grouped tightly, the ship is super maneuverable, and it even has 6 SCU of cargo so you can carry some stuff around. I'm looking at those 1SCU storage boxes. Food box, med box, utility box, ammo box, and that leaves you with two SCU slots left over for anything that you might come across, and the supplies to deal with long outings without visiting any cities.

MSL is used for landing in all commercial aircraft alongside the radio altimeter. Most approach minimums (non-autoland) are set using the baro altimeter, not the radio one. The reason is that uneven terrain on approach can confuse the radio altimeter. The advantage pilots have is that they adjust the QNH to the local barometric pressure and also have a chart stating the aerodrome height above sea level. We have neither, so a radio altimeter along with GPWS altitude call-outs (which use the radio altimeter) would be a fantastic QOL feature.
I've been lurking Star Citizen development since they first caught heat in main stream gaming journalism years ago. Been fascinated and following SC content on youtube ever since. Even though I never bought into the hate, I thought actually pledging was a bit of a meme. That is until the latest tech demos CIG put out recently, showing off all the things they have been cooking! That persistent long shot demo made me happy to be a gamer. I then started warming up to actually being excited to play the game. Now seeing this Gatac Syulen on this video, I impulsively went to the website and made a pledge for it, easy. I don't even have a PC yet to play it, lol but I'm that impressed with how far CIG has come.
Yeah, I echo this comment - I started playing only about a week ago when I randomly saw a thumbnail that led me to the .1 patch that was still PTU at the time. I immediately enlisted with the cheapest ship (Aurora MG) but would be very interested in getting more. Buying them with real money is expensive initially but when you're putting hundreds of hours of gameplay in, to something this huge and amazing, it starts to maybe feel like good value. Not sure I'm ready to spend 600 quid yet though
Same here. I’ve been following development since the initial kickstarter but have never tried the game. I think the hate on this game was absolutely overblown. I’ve always viewed this game as a testament to what can be done in a video game with absolutely no limits on development (budget, timeframe, scope, etc). I don’t know how you can think this is a scam if you spend any amount of time looking at the insane dedication they’ve put into all of the little details, such as what is shown in this video. I’ve been silently rooting for CIG for years, and it’s great to see that the public sentiment seems to finally be turning in their favor. I’ve always thought the backend tech (the server meshing, entity streaming, etc) would be what really sets SC apart if they can pull it off, and I think we’ve just gotten to a point in the last few years where we have the hardware and software infrastructure to make it a reality. I know one day I will be able to play this game in VR and it will be glorious (yes, there’s the mods already, but I mean officially and without so many issues).
Now THIS is what Alien is supposed to feel like.... seriously, it could be a weapon, a power generator, a high tech temple... so freaky... Love it. SC has knocked another one out the ballpark. THere's got to be some kinds of awards on the line for these designers... this is seriously next level shit.
I realy love how tiny and not spaceous it is. Always loved the compact designs in sci fi because they are more realistic for which the orientation of the ship is just the cherry on the top. Great design
It flies like a dream, it is such a fun ship to fly. By far the most fun I have had in a starter ship in a long while. The seat is for your eating area, and you could bring a passenger to avoid them being thrown around. What was fun as you were leaving the hangar a ship was coming in to land. New Babbage was so busy, there were players all over flying around in the new ships. It was just a party at NB.
Ehhh, the game is lacking a lot of gameplay loops still. If your not into being in a buggy alpha, id wait longer. There are a lot of gameplay things they probably have done (in part because of SQ42) but they cant add them in because servers cant handle it. Id wait tell server meshing is working to get into star citizen if your not interested in actually "Backing" the project. Also its a starter ship, well a slightly higher priced then base package starter ship. Because its being billed as a starter it should be common and easily obtainable in game.
@@Arthillis Yeah, I don't think a blanket recommendation for the game can be given yet. Hopefully by the time Squadron releases things will be a bit more fleshed out because that's probably going to drive a lot of interest.
@@Arthillis What do you mean by "gameplay loops"? I started playing yesterday after buying the game years ago. I enjoyed the exploration and scale of the environments up until now, but there were definitely some things that were off or glitchy. I am not sure what to do right now, but thankfully I do enjoy just wandering around and observing the little details in the environments.
Fair enough, I guess I more meant it's a good time to specifically buy the game and sit on it if you need to. Just a good ship value overall, should hopefully be a good starter for a lot of people @@Arthillis
Altitude traditionally refers to the sea level. I'm sure modern planes have some sort of laser or optics based measuring system for live updates for ground level but for the longest of times all aviation had to deal with altitude numbers referring to the sea level. It's not really an issue since you usually would have a pretty good idea on where you were flying at and what's the altitude of the ground level.
It's actually an issue, less so now with ubiquitous GPS, but quite a few planes have hit mountains in the dark because they only relied on air pressure altimeters and didn't know exactly where they are due to no GPS.
I'm sure we'll have a starter from every manufacturer, or at least every group of manufacturers (e.g. the Syulen would probably be the only alien starter in the foreseeable future, I don't think Mirai will produce a starter separate from the Hull-A, etc). Which makes me excited for a possible Crusader starter.
I feel like Xi'an space is hard to do since landing zones may need to be open-air to account for the upright landing of ships like the Syu'len. I'm thinking they could base their hangars off of Utapau from Revenge of the Sith but surrounded by shields. Or, the hangars could really just be all in one massive bay that encircles the station's interior services, a bit like the bigger Terran docks in X4 but alien-looking.
@@Dysputant The thing about a cargo bay is you can tractor in a lot of loot, such as guns and bodies from a bunker mission. Makes package deliveries easier as well. The airlock level of Syulen is very small and would be a tight fit for anything. 6 SCU is such a miniscule amount of aUEC when trading that doing any other game loop is going to be far more lucrative. The only thing I can think of that makes any sense is moving SLAM from JT, PP or Orphanage to one of the salvage yards for about 28k aUEC profit per run at a very high risk. Whereas a 22,500 easy bunker mission with CTA and selling some loot is about 35k per run and no investment loss or having to deal with a CS (unless you shoot a security NPC in the protection missions). The 2 ships aren't really comparable. Syulen has a monster of a face-on cross section that it's even easy for NPCs on a laggy server to hit it. It's an amazing ship for the cool factor though and thinking of melting my LTI token for it. Also, its side-to-side translation movement is really good. Atmospheric ship combat is fun in it despite its huge front-on cross section. Also has 2900 QT fuel which makes the VK-00 drive viable, the fastest QD in the game.
Suit locker will be great when you can't sit in pilot seat with big armor & weapons on. feels like the syulen is somewhat of a pathfinder but guess it doesn't have any special radar or sensors?
For station horizontal hangars, the syulen fits well. You'll have the most trouble with planetside ones. I've already seen a handful of people on the Reddit Discord say they can't handle it and plan to melt it.
I went to the Expo hall earlier and rented the Syulen, and will say i was blown away right up until i tried flying it... or rather taking off... what followed, was me landing it, leaving it and going and picking something else lol I haven't flown it since, but a an org mate said it is very powerful for a starter with 3 size 3 panther's and it's very very agile... so combat is good, in fact better than a lot of non-starter ships.
Looks 'HALO'ish. I do really like how it converts the seat like that. Kinda like the bounty hunter ship Slave that Boba Fet has. I really want to get one for my gameplay.
I love that it's straight to flyable. I upgraded a nox racer for the LTI. Now imagine a light carrier based on this design philosophy. Something like the Kraken, but with gravity tech.
That's why, despite having a BMM since 2015, I don't mind waiting. This is a gorgeous ship for sure. 👌🏼 Edit: The angles of each switch have functions. Top is lock, bottom left and right are lights.
The 3rd person camera is actually not weird - looks like it's just oriented for all of the other ships that are not oriented vertical. And something the CIG will need to adjust for with this and any other vertical oriented ships it introduces later on.
The next ship slated to come out form Gatac is the Railen cargo hauler. Which is basically what Ollie described when he said he could imagine a ship that drags cargo like a tail, with the main ship as the head. From the previews it look like a larger version of this ship, with 2 ball turrets, 1 either side, and a gravlev cargo space extending out the rear.
@@ScientistMan96 i think maybe something even bigger or not a cargo hauler and i would be sold haha, tbh ill probably still keep an eye out on the railen
Perfectly alien - brief met. Still adjusting my eyes and orientation. But, for no good technical reason, I love it. I got it knowing that it's gonna get slated soon, and I'm gonna get pissed with the size & landing it, and all the negative reviews (Morph - 'waste of space') and comparison 'best starter' tests etc. but I just love that it's so wrong because at the same time it's just so right for me.
I think the Q&A for this ship indicates that CIG are working to bring an updated version into the game which should allow seeing the terrain. I think they will be basing it on the updated map tech, last week's ISC with the navigation UI team discussed it briefly.
I think they should just copy elite dangerous landing ui, and just add a SC flair to it. They had it before and with the new improvements to their tech it should be better than what we had 8 years ago
I’m a new player and I’m super excited to see more ships like these as I get used to the game, it’s so clean and so cool to watch and just do everything!
Beautiful ship that is completely impractical. They nailed the alien feel of it but go ahead and see how well it performs as a daily driver or bunker run vehicle against the more practical ones such as the avenger or cutter. Now imagine that and take it to the next level when you're actually up against opposition such as on Ghost hollow, when that becomes a thing even at bunker runs... as you sit there trying to move cargo into the ship and need to get in and out quickly.
The best thing about this ship is that it has a built in landing camera. (Just the rear-view camera hotkey, because it actually lands on its rear) Why its so freaking hard for CIG to just move the rear-view camera to face down on other ships to literally give us a free landing camera easily, i will never understand. Overcomplicate everything is their motto.
Рік тому+3
You are not supposed to rotate the ship... Just easier it a bit and slide it out...
There needs to be a landing mode, where you sit normally "upright" at the tip, and toggling modes holds the chair relative in space, and the ship rotates 90deg around the chair
My only issues with it are that it is a bit difficult to re enter while in EVA and i noticed that it has the same computer voice as Esperia ships. I would have went with something new with a human/xi’an toggle to get spoken xi’an computer voice.
I was waiting for your take Olli because your excitement is infectious!!! It is a very beautiful, unique ship, I love the stylings and the alien vibe. Enjoy the ride.
Since you mentioned Gatac ships with cargo tails, the Railen sort of fits the description (it was the first concepted gatac ship, around msr size). it uses triangular pods in a big clump at the back

For anyone looking to better park the Syulen, go into options>keybinds>advanced>vehicles -seats and operator>look behind. It's good to have in many situations but in the case of the Syulen, it's literally a backup camera..
For me its perfect it can fo felivery it can fo bounty etc not only does it give the chance to explore it also teaches the player to take things slowly so they dont crash
Congratulations, you really aced that first take-off with this ship. I've tried it myself and it's not as easy as it looks in this video, it gave me some sweaty palms and I nearly crashed on the first try. It definitely didn't look as elegantly on my end, lol.
For those who are new to this man I will say this he will spend 5 minutes straight talk about the design of a ship like he the designer and I will say he goes into detail on every little gritty of the ship it make you wonder is he the designer 😅
The main thing is why my heart always will be with StarCitizen - its that love to the details that you see everywhere. Aesthetic orgrasm every fucking time starting with sounds and ending with whole design of all things. ♥
18:40 CIG really has to make stuff stored on weapon racks persistent.. As in part of the vehicle "loadout", so you get them back when claiming the ship, unless the item was "unequipped" (taken). I never use the weapon racks in any vehicle, because why would i want to lose MORE guns when i die, compared to just losing what's on my person? They gotta stop worrying so much about duping, and just let us live in convenience.
CIG does a really great job at designing alien ships that feel unconventional, as opposed to what humans would think would feel what's conventional to be in a ship.
Played this game for less than 20 minutes, saw the beautiful glow of a planet's horizon as i flew well above it's atmosphere. Not gonna play again until i graduate college and upgrade my PC because this game is TRULY beautiful and i want to really experience what it has to offer
As a person big into languages, i really love the alien script because it actually looks like a language! Simple, somewhat repetative. It kind of reminds me of a Korean Chinese hybrid script.
To me its a slap in the face because you know those characters arent meant to have any type of semiotic coherence they solely exist to give you the illusion the game exists
Ollie, little tip for all the info you've given me... all bays have a "garage door and a corresponding ceiling door, both open whe you call the bay, so I am pretty sure you could " rocket launch" and arc over to normal flight and the ceiling door is wider which would allow a recover rocket landing by roof.
Hangars are either vertical or horizontal, they aren't both. Some places have one style (Lorville has vertical only, Orison might be horizontal only), while most have both but they don't have ATC logic yet to put you into the best hangar for your ship since this is the first ship where vertical might be preferred.
The Pilot Seat makes perfect sense. as soon as younsit down it rotates and you are basically laying on your back, which is why the back is all comfy and the area you sit on is just bare metal. The artifical gravity also works with this.
The technical term for an airplane that's configured like the Syulen is a tailsitter, we tried to make airplanes that landed like that for a brief spell, but making expert test pilots lying on their backs perform VTOL landings on a moving carrier ship by looking in a rearview mirror using analog controls with no computer aids didn't really work, so normal pilots probably would have had no chance.
At the display in the convention center I stood in the flight deck to watch someone get in the pilot seat. It's impressive to see from a third perspective.
This Ship makes the most sense. It probably wouldn't give 2 Watts of energy for artificial grav. Instead, it simply uses planetary grav or trust to build art.grav. I like how the three arms point out to the sides, its manuverbility in space must be superb. It looks like the starship of an alien priest of war. The entrance stairs... Unnecessary tech. But nice touch. 78"Flight of the Navigator" A Ship AI would make it work. It has terrible cargo, but it's design suggests "Fighter" not "Cargo". But what if you have a separate cargo pod and just use the ships Traktor to back pack the cargo pod? Interior should be more cramped to increase life support efficiency, but it's still way better than the rest of the traveling castles. Horizontal corridors make no sense in space. This Ship has a vertical corridor. Well designed. I like to see more vertical ships that are as realistic and thought through as this ship. I rarely say this but cudos... Nice work...
Used your code and got this ship. First time playing the game. Either way, don't mind supporting the cause as lots of people have enjoyed the game so far!
Thrust up (w) (spacebar) and (n) for landing gear/flight mode also (ctrl) for forward and backward lateral movement, (a) and (d) for laft and right lateral movement and (s) for reverse thrust/landing of the Gatac Syulen. That is what I have discovered flying it.
This design was advised by a US pentagon adviser. This is how advanced propulsion technology is packed in today's above top secret projects. For those in the know this is normal.
I like thinking about these ships like used cars, just imagine how difficult it'd be to maintain and repair or replace all these little anti gravity interior panels, or like you'd buy the thing used and some of the anti grav stairs would be missing, just lost somewhere, and then you gotta go hunt down a replacement 4th step so that you can actually use the airlock again since the step's also part of the door. Just funny af to me, imagine how those overly complicated mechanical systems would fail just like they do on old luxury cars and stuff like that. Imagine like some of the anti gravity panels, like the toilet paper roll holder, work, but just barely work as they age, so sometime the things don't move the right way or like get caught on the toilet paper and tare it up, or is just flies out really violently one day, like 100% I could see stuff like that happening as the ship ages.
it'll be my daily driver. I even don't feel that great about the 400i anymore. This syulen is so cosy, while being modern looking and exotic at the same time. When I'm on the middle (hab) deck, i feel as though I'm in my own cocoon. It feels very relaxing, even if it's only small. Someone could feel claustrophobic but I could really call this my home away from home. Upgraded my 100i to this immediately.
I bought it!, I can always get a bike next year it's too cold here for me to get one now! So I have Syulen the skin it comes with is white with gold trim even the stairs are gold trim.. and I dunno if you noticed in the video but it's not made of marble it's marblised granite! The white version is perfect for microtech if I can ever manage to leave New Babbage without a 30k or full game crash! I wish I could start in tressler! [ALSO!: Did anyone else notice that from the cockpit while flying it sounds like the PS2 intro sound!] The ship looks crisp in 4k max settings the textures are absolutely immaculate I went to the free flight aswell yesterday so I could compare the Banu to the Syulen and in my honest opinion ...it doesn't I love my ol' gal DUR but this ship is my new main for the foreseeable future) the Gatac Syulen she's the new hotness!
10:48 you don't actually need to pitch to get out, the ship fits better out the hangar doors the same orientation it spawns in, I just consider horizontal hangars to be vertical hangars and vice versa in the Syulen.
If you think this is manoeuvrable I highly recommend revisiting and dogfighting in the Xi'an Scout which can fly circles around most ships and has 2 fixed size 4s! It's Aoapoa which is a slightly different manufacturer so design language is different from Gatac but still uniquely Xi'an
Amazing ship, best starter ship by far in my opinion. Even more remarkable I feel like it's at a very fair price, I might even say a deal! Usually we see an alien tax but not here. Incredible work and I hope we really start to see more alien ships over the next few years!!

Isn't this ship incredible? It's an absolute masterclass in design.
because its a copy from a famous eltite dangerous ship!
Devs make these ships with a passion and it shows.
Passion for dem dollas.
I love how this ship feels like you are walking into a temple. I hope this interior style and "monolithic" feeling continues with Xi'an.
I love the idea a race so old and spiritual that even their ships are an embodiment of that respect for nature.
Gatac.
Like humans, different Xi'an clans have different styles.
Meanwhile Aopoa's style is "Bright Insects."
@@JoshSweetvaleYea but all the Xi‘an ships will likely be from Gatac because that’s their clan for building ships. So the design language will hopefully continue in that way.
@@entitycorroded6282Gatac is the clan that builds their industrial ships specifically, not every single Xi'an ship
@@entitycorroded6282 No.
Aopoa _already_ has two ships. You are _demonstrably_ wrong.
I love that they made the light purple. Gives it a menacing vibe like in the trailer.
Yeah, I kinda wondered if sliding the ship sideways while oriented vertically in the hangar might be a better way to exit.
@@OneBiasedOpinion also, when you think about it... it's kinda the same thing as landing a horizontal ship in a vertical hangar.
Guess it depends if the Hanger is Entered from Above or the Side! I always was worried about ripping off the landing gear, thank god that is harder to do.
I flown it too I bought it WB and it is Really insane how CIG puts that much effort in their ships, and development is speeding rn with delivering the San.Tok and Railen soon too! And they also said there is a possibility that the Mighty Polaris will be done in 1 Year. ❤

I bought it instantly. No regrets. It flies great and is a GREAT starter for combat oriented pilots.
How much does it cost?
@@XStreet1985 I think $65 Warbond, $70(75?) Store credit, and I think $85 as a game package. Imo, compared to the Titan, I like it more in almost every regard, except I think the Titan can fit a Roc, this can't fit any ground vehicle (Which imo is totally ok for everything else it offers)

The altitude meter is based off of MSL instead of AGL, actually most aircraft are 20:16
Oh, didnt know that. Thank you. That explains why I crashed my Corsair recently...
Lmao no problem @@TheCzechmate007
@@TheCzechmate007😂. Yup 7k MSL ain’t so high anymore when the ground level is 6.5k ft and buildings are 500ft tall on top of that lol
We keep asking CIG for a radar option, MSL is a lot less useful and only really used in aircraft that don't have radar, SC ships have radar.
Yeah it seems like a great time to get into the game finally.
Welcome to the 'Verse!
thank you! @@thePrisoner1000
I know one day I will be able to play this game in VR and it will be glorious (yes, there’s the mods already, but I mean officially and without so many issues).
the sound design is absolutely amazing for this ship, and the thrusters sound so melodic
No ship in ANY game comes close to this crazy design. CIG kicking ass. o7

This is the perfect time to get into the game if anyone has been thinking about it! This ship is an absolute steal!!
Its always a good day when Ollie posts
Altitude traditionally refers to the sea level. I'm sure modern planes have some sort of laser or optics based measuring system for live updates for ground level but for the longest of times all aviation had to deal with altitude numbers referring to the sea level. It's not really an issue since you usually would have a pretty good idea on where you were flying at and what's the altitude of the ground level.
It's actually an issue, less so now with ubiquitous GPS, but quite a few planes have hit mountains in the dark because they only relied on air pressure altimeters and didn't know exactly where they are due to no GPS.
Those stairs are similar to the ones from the movie Flight of the Navigator. Such a cool nostalgia thing to see
I don't exactly Play Star citizen but this ship is blowing my mind it's so cool
I think they are going for a starter ship for every manufacturer. Or at least it would be cool if they did it.
With 6 SCU and 3x size 3, it sounds like it could be a competitor to the Titan.
Definitely, although the Titan has the internal cargo bay.
@@MaticTheProto Well cargo is kinda hidden when you fold from landing position.
This ship has 3 phases to get into the pilot seat, Titan can be done in one from left side, that's important to make a rush escape
Suit locker will be great when you can't sit in pilot seat with big armor & weapons on. feels like the syulen is somewhat of a pathfinder but guess it doesn't have any special radar or sensors?
This is hands down the best starter ship. Disregarding everything else it got 2900 quantum fuel which is more than many mid sized ships.
For station horizontal hangars, the syulen fits well. You'll have the most trouble with planetside ones. I've already seen a handful of people on the Reddit Discord say they can't handle it and plan to melt it.
They are weak lol
Such a cool ship! Makes me really want a medium ship from Gatac
The Railen is coming!
Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the Frontier against Xur and the Ko-dan Armada.
I was thinking the same thing. Also the cabin layout reminds me of the ships from The Expanse.
Edit: The angles of each switch have functions. Top is lock, bottom left and right are lights.
The 3rd person camera is actually not weird - looks like it's just oriented for all of the other ships that are not oriented vertical. And something the CIG will need to adjust for with this and any other vertical oriented ships it introduces later on.
Friendship with the Merchantman has ended,
Friendship with whatever big ship Gatac will make has started.
EXACT SAME BOAT. Legit whatever style of ship they make beeg beeg, i will buy
What settings are you playing on? This ship looks sick!
Yes bro I love that you take your time and press every button to see what they open, seeing that futuristic furniture makes it so much more immersive
I think this ship makes a great case for bringing back the alpha 2.0 landing ui
I think the old UI had a problem in that it only worked on landing pads and had to be manually configured
I think the Q&A for this ship indicates that CIG are working to bring an updated version into the game which should allow seeing the terrain. I think they will be basing it on the updated map tech, last week's ISC with the navigation UI team discussed it briefly.
Great news. REALLY miss that UI. @@Tsudico
Suddenly a starter ship with three levels make sense.
You missed a button on your left on the wall while in the bed
It's the same symbol as on the storage at the end of the bed looking up in the Xian diplomatic guide for translation
It's 172 pages long of a different language so it's gonna be a while
The best thing about this ship is that it has a built in landing camera.
(Just the rear-view camera hotkey, because it actually lands on its rear)
Why its so freaking hard for CIG to just move the rear-view camera to face down on other ships to literally give us a free landing camera easily, i will never understand. Overcomplicate everything is their motto.
I was theorizing that Gatac subcontracted Esperia for the human adaptations.
I was waiting for your take Olli because your excitement is infectious!!! It is a very beautiful, unique ship, I love the stylings and the alien vibe. Enjoy the ride.
Alr, bought the ship lol
"Guy spends three minutes looking at toilet"
Seriously though. I'd do the same. The animations and textures for that ship are absolutely amazing!
Since you mentioned Gatac ships with cargo tails, the Railen sort of fits the description (it was the first concepted gatac ship, around msr size). it uses triangular pods in a big clump at the back
That is one of the sickest ships I've seen in an y space game ever! I could be tempted to come back to the game after seeing this.

I think I’m gonna redesign my real life gaming setup inspired by the Syulen. What a masterclass in design
I won a Syulen for the Alien Week Recipe Contest 2024 with a custom skin : )
My recipe was the Marok Spicy Egg (prize and recipe on Spectrum)
For those who are new to this man I will say this he will spend 5 minutes straight talk about the design of a ship like he the designer and I will say he goes into detail on every little gritty of the ship it make you wonder is he the designer 😅
yep, a bit boring imo
My mouth dropped when yhe chair pulled you up into the ceiling. I was just absolutely flabbergasted
The floating steps are such a cool hommage to Flight of the Navigator. Great classic.
Thanks Ollie! They certainly made a piece of artwork!
CIG does a really great job at designing alien ships that feel unconventional, as opposed to what humans would think would feel what's conventional to be in a ship.
I upgraded my Cutter to this! I love the design and sounds! Its fun to fly too.
@@Dulc3B00kbyBrant0n you people have no life besides nitpicking SC don't you?

Ollie, little tip for all the info you've given me... all bays have a "garage door and a corresponding ceiling door, both open whe you call the bay, so I am pretty sure you could " rocket launch" and arc over to normal flight and the ceiling door is wider which would allow a recover rocket landing by roof.
Hangars are either vertical or horizontal, they aren't both. Some places have one style (Lorville has vertical only, Orison might be horizontal only), while most have both but they don't have ATC logic yet to put you into the best hangar for your ship since this is the first ship where vertical might be preferred.
Where is this hanger you speak of? I have only ever seen one or the other open.
I have seen them at August Dunlow and NBIS ( Orison and New Babbage)
@@elwinbrake2695 Nice! I may keep mine there then.
78"Flight of the Navigator"
A Ship AI would make it work.

This thing is straight up menacing and beautiful at the same time. CIG flexing its ship design muscle is a great thing to see.
This is giving me hope for the Merchantman when it finally leaves the drawing board.
The idea that a ship this advanced still stocks and dispenses toilet paper is literally hilarious.
5:14 Damn, wish you picked this button while laying down to see what it does!
The silhouette reminds me of something from IKARUGA, but the interior details are really wild, totally love the design choices.
Imagine like some of the anti gravity panels, like the toilet paper roll holder, work, but just barely work as they age, so sometime the things don't move the right way or like get caught on the toilet paper and tare it up, or is just flies out really violently one day, like 100% I could see stuff like that happening as the ship ages.
i love this ship too, it's 1980s iconic a GUNSTAR from last starfighter & The Trimaxion Drone Ship (MAX) from flight of the navigator
it'll be my daily driver.
10:48 you don't actually need to pitch to get out, the ship fits better out the hangar doors the same orientation it spawns in, I just consider horizontal hangars to be vertical hangars and vice versa in the Syulen.
love the damascus steel looking hull. such a beautiful design.
Altimeters use sea level. The new landing radar will help landing this ship a lot.
If you think this is manoeuvrable I highly recommend revisiting and dogfighting in the Xi'an Scout which can fly circles around most ships and has 2 fixed size 4s! It's Aoapoa which is a slightly different manufacturer so design language is different from Gatac but still uniquely Xi'an
Its standard loadout is gimbaled size 3's
And it's maneuverability was incredibly nerfed this last patch 😢
Amazing ship, best starter ship by far in my opinion. Even more remarkable I feel like it's at a very fair price, I might even say a deal! Usually we see an alien tax but not here. Incredible work and I hope we really start to see more alien ships over the next few years!!
Starter ship? Jeez that significantly more interesting then the ones they had last time I played (2yrs ago).
Pro-tip, use F4 and the number pad to set camera angles, if you really want to use 3rd person on landing and takeoff it'll make it easy to switch views.
