I would suppose those compartments would be useful if they block scanners on routine stops. That way they have no reason to pull you over to get searched. It would make sense that a ship that is use for hacking would have anti scanners on them for defense.
Okay, I counted the Crusader logos. [correction] I divided my subtotals by painted & embossed logos on surfaces and logos displayed on each door panel. I also counted by room to help keep me accurate. There are a total of 55 painted or embossed logos on the interior & exterior of the ship. There are 22 logos displayed on door panels. (I initially missed the following 5) [There are 3 logos on the landing gear only visible when extended and 2 logos on the cargo ramp door jamb only visible when open.] I counted in all 77 Crusader Industries logos in/on the MSR. [82 total logos]
@@cybergothika6906 it will never leave alpha, not within the next 30 years is my expectation. with how much they are wanting to add before the game is even remotely "finished" it will take years for them to finally just say its a full game. i right now consider it a full game. it has several game loops, it has several locations that cn be visited, it has a very large roster of ships, vehicles as well as weapons and armor. by all accounts this game does not need to be in alpha anymore. they are keeping it there for one or maybe several reasons. for one it being in an alpha gives them an excuse every single time they fuck something up (please refer to the 3.18 launch) by t being in alpha they can continue to ask for kickstarter money and donations to make new ships happen and fund their company, and with it being an alpha still its quality currently makes people excited and have a false sense of wonder of what the game will be like when its finally finished. when the player count starts to drop and they cant milk any more money from people that is when the game will leave alpha in a hope to bring people back.
To be honest, I wasn’t really sold on this game until I started watching your ship reviews. The amount of detail on these ships is mind blowing and it’s crazy to think that the whole in-game world is this detailed. Great vids man
I got into this game years ago. I'm still learning about it. The more I learn, the more fun I have, the more impressed I am, and the more I can forgive the long rocky road that is the development process.
All great points! What I took away: 1. It needs a 2nd way to get out of the ship to escape. 2. Maybe needs it's own small armory so people can't just grab guns off the walls in a fit of rage after losing in chess. 3. Server Room and Scanner room could be swapped so that servers are in a more secure location. But all in all it's a fantastic ship. Really well done CIG!
Server room swapping is the first thing I imagined when I bought the ship past year. Not just more convenient for access for people either in bridge/cargo/quarters but also immersion for server security. Problem is, it would kill Mercury's crazy feel. It looks like a military ship gone civilian, drawn by some rich ass New Babbage corporate kiddo trying to impress his teacher. "Look here, I didn't put the scanner in the MAIN HUB of corridors because it is design over safety. Too many chairs already exposed."
"Windows are just structural weakness, we don't need windows, just sensors." - Some alien robot thing from another sci-fi franchise that's definitely not Mass Effect
@@tilemacro quantum drive is so dumb. I assume it is just warp drive and they thought quantum sounds cool, but it just sounds unrealistic. Where is the quantum part? I think it is a regular alcubierre drive that uses polar opposite space curvatures. The spaceship from hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy was a bit more quantum since it had multiple states it switches to as well as positions and they need to get the probability just right to get to the destination in one piece and not just as sentient chairs in a giant tea cup for example.
@@Morphologis My friend and I were discussing this last night. If the bridge is, in fact, an escape pod, then there *really* needs to be other seats for the rest of the crew.
I'm not a huge fan of asymmetric ships normally. But this ship reminds me of the Falcon mixed with the Normandy from Mass Effect, and I love both of those. Like if you took the Normandy, and brought it all in and shifted it slightly. I love that it actually looks smaller than it really is too. You only realize it's a big ship once you get closer to it. Such a nice design aesthetic IMO.
so you're saying i should stop worrying about the need to incessantly check around the corners of the reclaimer for xenomorphs? no. no...best to be safe...yea...
Nice review! The MSR has become one of my two 'daily drivers' - despite having to do the "Get Smart" through the corridors every time you go in and out. It _does_ need a forward lift and I reckon the place it would fit and work best is the area that contains the turret access. For me, the exterior lines of this ship (which I rather like) are similar to one mentioned from a well known 'space opera' series of books and films, but also the Python from the Elite games, esp. Elite: Dangerous. Considering its size, it "goes like stink"! both in normal and quantum travel.
yes I agree I was thinking that. it would also add some class to it. and it would also give the devs a option to add some cooling effects to the server room. (is there a door between the servers room and the rest of the ship?
Just "L" shaped buletproof glass panels, betwen walking space and server racks. WIth some lockable button, if you need do something manualy. And yeah, a Crusader logo on those panels :D
Normal for some sort of high-security would be physical barriers on the server rack - you can buy lockable racks _now_ - and also physical separation from high-security areas, possibly in multiple layers so that even when inside the server room (which you could delineate by the glass panels you mentioned) you're not able to access the cage exterior - this is generally done by a lockable mesh cage around an entire group of floor-standing racks, protecting data and power runs into the site infrastructure. Also worth mentioning cooling. Back-office kit can run a bit hot, as they're built with the expectation of active cooling being there. If it's liquid cooling, fine, but then the coolant in and coolant out lines need to be there. If it's air cooling, what's cooling the hot air? Liquid cooling would probably make better sense for a spacecraft that may experience a breach - dealing with a hull breach would only be complicated by the flight systems cooking themselves and shutting down seconds into the breach.
I was thinking that too. look at the cut in the hull right behind the bridge. would fitt... They're experimenting with that kind of escapepod on the Talon, so why not? xD
@@Xephisto Or maybe put them behind panels. The immediate issue that comes to mind with that though is timing, so maybe as a means to counteract that it could be a sort of two-stage activation. The first stage primes everything for escape (opens panels, gets ready to launch) and then obviously the second launches the pod. Idk, just a thought. I think it would look a little goofy to just have a bunch of jump seats in that hallway, and would kinda go against the overall design of the rest of the ship.
That long hallway to the bridge is a great place to have some gun racks with sliding cover doors. They could add a lot of additional storage as well. It amazes me that they don’t really think about the artifacts and miscellaneous items that need to be stored. Considering they want everything to be persistent in game. Everyone is going to have a lot of items to deal with.
It feels like there is some spare space in front of the crew quarters, and that CIG could add escape pods there, accessed from the corridor to the bridge.
Pretty sure that's coming. Just like with the Vanguard. There are a lot of features on many ships that just don't animate or 'work' all the way just yet.
Just figured out what's been bugging me out about this ship: look at the thrusters! They are way to high up on the ship, in reality it would spin out as soon as you tried moving. Ruins the overall design for me
@@schiefer1103 Same here although it doesn't bother me too much, but just keep in mind thruster VFX are one of the main things that the VFX team is working on for the near-future so it should mask this a bit.
I love this ship. I don't really play SC anymore right now but I own this ship as well as my Titan starter ship. When I do play tho, I absolutely love flying this thing around. Great video.
@Joseph no a ship meant for security though, adding one extra (and easy) layer of security for the data itself wouldn’t be a bad choice. Plus would help with cooling if it was segmented off anyway
I've replied to a few comments like this already, but since this is near the top I'll mention again. Don't forget that it's also a smuggling ship, and sometimes what you're smuggling won't be just regular cargo ;). It will be hard for pirates to go around in their reported ships, so I can see smugglers trafficking them into major ports where they might need to meet someone or... do something bad. Don't know if I'd trust a random pirate client not to grab a weapon or to mess with the server racks.
Considering the millennium falcon actually has a few small one person escape pods and underneath you could easily put the same thing in the at Central Hall between the bridge and the main Concord he said about probably 4 to 6 in there depending on how big it is.
I was surprised you didn't mention the large empty space in the scanning room. Thought that would have been perfect to seal off with an extra bulkhead and make an armory or something. Also the empty hallway leading to the bridge is the perfect space for a top mounted EVA hatch. Already has an airlock like environment and would provide an exit in the bow.
Every ship with a dedicated scanning-station has this empty space. I think it has to do with the design idea of those scanning stations and that those will need the space for holografic interfaces.
Awesome video! Yeah, my friend just purchased one and we plan on taking her out sometime this week. Thank you, for your perspective on the ship, gives me something to look forward too.
Same here; except for it being my desktop wallpaper. Instead I had one of the images printed on canvas and the Mercury has been adorning my living room as a painting ever since. 😜
@@Morphologis hey, I don't know if you've ever answered this before, but how do you get footage of all the ships you cover? do you have connections where you can ask friends if you can borrow their ship for a day or two, or maybe you've just bought all the ships over the years. anyways might be a silly question but I've wondered that, thanks!
The MSR has a weird place for me. I absolutely adore the Crusader aesthetic (sleek but functional)... but the MSR in particular never really grabbed me. It was one of those concepts where I just thought "Cool" and moved on. I'm happy, of course, that there's people out there who it did appeal to. Personally I'm anticipating the Corsair the most out of the yet to be released concepts.
And the major Recreation sector issue: There is a kitcheen, but no dining table ! Should we eat on the chessboard ? At 2 metters from the couch ? I was surprised you didn't mention this :p + somme chairs at the habitation desks could be usefull too.
I agree completely, I would also like to see a monitor in the recreation area on one of the walls, which could be used for watching shows, etc. there is an entire wall panel which isn't in use opposite the kitchen, even some chairs and a table placed against that could work.
@@Chris-Garrod yeah for me at home i am used to eat in very big bowls that cannot spill away from the dining table in my bedroom or the sitting room on the sofa. Guess am uncivilised lol
That’s why they added the Nerf pistols, so that you can shoot at the entrance panel with these! Don’t forget that this is a three crew members ship, you could always climb on your friends to reach the panel!
Wow, great video! That was really neat. And I'm really glad I watched it even though I've had an MSR for months, because my stupid ass didn't realize there was a button to open the secret panel in the cargo bay. lol
Excellent, well done review - I don't tend to comment on UA-cam for any reason, but this was worthy of praise - well done, sir. Your work is appreciated. Thank you.
I actually liked their idea of putting the servers at the core of the ship. It really gives a much better visceral experience of the servers, Instead of being hidden into some side room. All of the ships in star citizen from big to small won't be designed the same way in the real world. But in the end, it's a sci-fi game, And the role of cool should always prevail as long it doesn't significantly interfere with gameplay or fun.
From an aerospace engineering perspective, they are complete fantasy with our current technology. However, if we can ever fully understand and artificially generate gravity, ans we develop high thrust, high ISP propulsion, I would definitely start my design process around a star citizen concept.
Yeah I like the server room being an access point, it gives the ship a nice feeling. But being someone who works with/ in data centers in real life, it's definitely poor server room design. Lol
Good vid as always! I like the ship and share the same thoughts as you but I had not even noticed the fact there is only one entry/exit haha, what a trip.
Nice vid, mate! As for the "curiously long and empty tunnel" leading to the Bridge, it actually isn't empty, or at least won't be in the final game. Just as with many other ships, the 890 including, there are compartments hidden behind those walls which will feature systems relative to the bridge/cockpit, i.e. avionics, etc.
I think the design of the exposed weapon rack and easy access to the servers is because this is an industrial ship and they assumed only crew on board.
Idk if the cinematic short film "The Reunion" had come out yet when you commented. But in that you can see a prisoner of some sorts with handcuffs running around in the ship and it would definitely be a safety risk if the prisoner had access to the exposed servers and gun rack. And by the looks of the film it doesn't necessarily need to be a industrial ship but I get your point.
@@SCTimbal This ship is gonna be targeted by everyone. On every customs you will go through deep inspections for everyone knowing its a smuggler ship. Intel has a higher value then any valuable metals so pirates and other privateers getting that data gonna be key to success and saving money.
@@EddyKorgo They should implement a module in game that masks your ship signature so that you could trick Pirates into thinking you're a different ship until they get close enough for a visual inspection.
The ship appears to be able to get into a pretty good stealth EM signature. I haven't got all the upgrades yet to fully test it though. Haven't verified that I can get the IR signature down too.
I think a bridge entrance elevator could be added, perhaps if a couple things were shifted around in that area, and some escape pods might fit in the secret crawlspace. You'll just have to share your secrets in the event of ship destruction.
As someone whose come from Elite dangerous. This reminds me alot of the python. Which will always be my favourite ship. And I'm only 30 seconds into the video. Thanks for putting so much into your videos.
it definitely got the carrack treatment with how chunky it got and i think there is a little too much wasted space. the scanner room seems strangely empty and the server room doesn’t seem to make the best use of its space, and makes it harder for new people to navigate. i would also have loved to see maybe just one or two more windows on the ship. i know it’s based on the millennium falcon, but the sleeping quarters and the rec room feel somewhat incomplete without a way to see the outside. Maybe a skylight over the chess table in the rec room and a window of some time with an interactive shutter in the crew quarters? another way to use space a little better would be to maybe make the bridge into an escape pod. you could turn the long hallway leading to the bridge into an airlock or something and add some of the drop ship style seats to the back of the bridge to accommodate the full crew.
- "L" shaped buletproof glass panels around server racks. So you cant touch them. - Lockable button, to be able open them, if you need do something manualy. - Narrow window in kithen area wall. - Atleast one more seat at a bridge - Some protect under elevator All of those are minor changes in design of the ship. I must say "good job". Biggest issue is only one entry/exit way.
Awesome review! I was able to rent one yesterday on the PTU and loved it!! So much so that I decided to melt my Carrack to get the Squandrell pack that has the MSR in it. I lo
I'd very much like an extra egress point that surfaces on top of the ship. (Also like the Falcon had) Something so you could that you could evade folk camping the ship's ramp while also making it harder to sneak onto the ship. You could clamber around the topside of the ship, keeping low to stay out of sight of folk near the ramp and either snipe them or slip off the edge of the ship (still a good human height off the ground) to sneak away.
@@randydecker7015 at some point doors are getting security and rank assignment access. I'm hoping with that, they also become very difficult or time consuming to use by boarders, and possibly making the vent entrances even more difficult to open than the main corridor doors. Sure they should be hackable/cutable as well, but should take longer than the hallway doors. As for just boarding without considering the vents. I think the design of the ship is fantastic. The layout of where the guns/ cockpit is even adds a layer where defenders are coming in from two directions.
Love this series. I don't know about other people but I wouldn't mind an extra 5 to 10 minutes added on for you to finish you thoughts on design. I have learned a lot watching this series. I wasn't really anticipating the ship but I was this episode. Great work as always.
Another great contribution Morphologis! What if the cockpit/bridge explosively separated from the fuselage as a survival capsule much like the USAF F-111? It could have an automated thruster set to see it to a nearby planet surface if one was nearby. There you would have your gun rack and maybe those gray duffles attached around the walls could be within the capsule and full of survival gear.
@@SCTimbal CIG would never hire him, His thinking is much to sensible and Pro Fun. They only let "Fun Police" Work at Cloud Imperium now, If they see people making their own player driven fun they shut it down, Kareah, Jumptown. Places of Legend. Killed By the Fun Police and their draconian rules. Starcitizen Pre 2.6 Was a Blast, but Starcitizen gameplay is boring cringe nowdays, I've watched the stream where Morph based this video on, and pretty much nothing happens. Used to be amazing wild west frontier town like shenanigans every day around security post kareah and other key locations, in the Dan Gheesling "we have papers" days. Then they stripped that place bare, taking out the Rhadeghast Wine bottles that gave you UEC cash monies when you picked them up. And replaced them with the new exciting gameplay mechanic of... Nothing. Then they even snuffed out the last glimmer of dynamic player driven fun when they killed Jumptown. The "fun police" turned the verse into a dumpster fire. I have so many fun stories from starcitizen, back from the 2.0 to 2.6 days. Helping Captain jack save Bambis who had gotten crimestat accidentally without knowing what they were doing, trapping them at grimhex where people who had crimestat spawned, and the landing pads outside were a free for all deathmatch so not much chance of a newbie getting past the deathmatchers and campers to get in any ship they spawned.... So we would constantly be doing S.A.R missions to Extract them from Grimhex, like Snake Plisken Escape from new york style in and out Special ops rescue missions, Going in Like the ship mission at the start of Call of Duty 4, Capping the asses of the griefers camping the landing pads and VIP protection missioning the newbies out onto the EVAC ship, escorting them to Security post kareah and protecting them while they cleared their crimestat at the computer terminal there. All that kind of kickass dynamic player driven shenanigans pushed out to make room for generic ass box delivery, and mindless AI kill 30 wolves type MMO missions. That just confused and drew everyone apart and away from each other where the real fun was to be had. WITH EACH OTHER.
The most messed up thing, is they fuckin had it with 2.0, they had struck gold right there for players having fun with just other players they ran into in the verse, but even then they seemed to have some kind of fly in the ointment, some kind of madness that grew like a cancer that became current day star citizen. For an example to point out this madness , Starcitizens biggest "selling point" being Multicrew with ships you could walk around in and crew with friendlies, yet they plonk the Connie in the verse, their Posterchild big ticket multicrew ship, and do you know what they had on the turrets instead of the meaty size 3 Ugga Duggas it was supposed to have? They put SIZE 1 PEASHOOTERS, the weakest guns in the game on the un-stabilized turrets for some completely unfathomable reason.... Completely bloody useless. And shields barely stronger than a fighter.... So it was useless and un-survivable in the messy chaos house of fun that the verse was back then. And to fix it, all they had to do was edit a couple variables in the text files, EVEN I COULD HAVE FIXXED CONNIE MULTICREW with my 1337 text editing skills haha. A quick 30 minute hack to make the turrets somewhat usable despite having no stabilization would have been the quick and dirty trick of Copy Pasting the text file of the panther repeater, so "panther repeater copy.txt", and editing the variables to make it a size 9 gun, and making the Connie turret gun slots also size 9 (how we did turret weapons in the Freelancer Discovery mod for freelancer, Chris Roberts previous game) so they could tweak the variables of the guns that would only fit in the turret slots of the connie (no other size 9 guns or gun slots in the game at that time) until they were effective in a quick 15 minute Connie VS 2 Superhornets internal multiplayer test. EG increasing the spread to compensate for the difficulty in precision aiming due to no stabilization then increasing the Rate of fire to fill that wide cone of bullet spread with bullet hell, until enough shots land on target to achieve the desired level of effect. The Turret aiming was actually pretty direct, fast, snappy and on point in the original 2.0 as you can see here ua-cam.com/video/87rvGL5YVSU/v-deo.html Just Un-stabilized so easy to throw off when the ship turned. So the hard stuff was already done, just editing variables would have been enough to fix it. Edit the initial and max spread variables on that puppy, to get a cone of fire about twice the size of the blue aiming circle,, and enough BRRRRT to thoroughly fill that cone of fire with Dakka, and tweak the damage of each shot, along with doubling or even tripling the number in the shield config text, and upping the shield regen a little. until it proves effective With 2 Competent Gunners VRS 2 competent Superhornets in a few rounds of testing. And you would have had a fun and usable V2.0 Alpha Constellation. Would have been that easy to ghetto balance the Connie with minimal effort to be a fun to crew party bus, and a challenging trophy target for small teams of fighters, but they never did. Rendering it a limp and humiliating punching bag right to this present day. Their rules and tyranny, things like their air traffic control nonsense that made the drop in Pad partys a thing of the past just as one example of their many "fun police" moves. According them Fun is Illegal, If people are having their own self made fun, they always shut it down because they are not doing things the way the way Cloud Imperium want them to be doing things. Well, they got their way alright, most videos you see now of people playing Starcitizen are just people Waking up in a bed, running 10 minutes through a city of NPCs to get to a ship, and then spend the next Hour just flying, and flying, and flying to somewhere to pickup a box and put it down somewhere else, or doing the Kill 10 pirate Auroras and bring me their landing gears as proof you have killed them. No Life, no Pizzaz, no energy, no special gathering places of scum and villainy and adventures on the high seas, no Space drama, no Heros, no Villains no Characters and culture where your reputation and renown in the ingame community and chat is everything.... Just Groups of Isolated players doing their own thing, no really getting tangled up with each other, doing their 9 to five jobs with a slightly unfriendly paranoid standoffish attitude. Another great video, This would have to be the best ship I've seen for personal use. Keep on creating these videos, they are amazing and very engaging to watch.
I would prefer the ship still be in that medium size, but ultimately it's not about the size, but the shape language for me. If the final version had just maintained some of the shape language from the original concept by enlarging wings and other areas when they supersized the MSR, the original shape would be maintained, and no one would care as much. As it is, it now has a double chin and a big belly due to enlargements that happened in those areas that did not enlarge the frame of the ship along with them.
been taking a break for about a year, finally happy to see the ship i bought playable. thank you for making these videos, you have a fantastic channel.
instant click edit: What I really miss is the viewport in the recreation area. edit2: And that useless corridor to the bridge could have had a second entry point.
well done Morph, you like making these types of videos and I like watching them. They dropped the ball by not having a ladder escape door in that empty hallway to the bridge.
One other comment: I would like to know the design decision regarding the recreation room concept window. The food station is on the forward facing wall while the aft wall is empty/blank. If they reversed the positioning, a viewport window could have been installed. Oddly enough, my big disappointment.
Yeah, and if an actual window would prove problematic they could have used a viewscreen instead that would just project the outside on that wall. That way people in the recreation room could have had an awesome viewing experience imo.
@@ericwollaston5654 Apparently, there wouldn't be any problem to do it as long as there is empty/unused space between "Scanning" and "Recreation" rooms. So the kitchen elements could be embedded in the back wall. A front window could offer a very pleasant view, indeed.
This comment is a few years out of date, but I really wish they’d just remove the vents at this point. Would cut off a few feet of height and you can get rid of the elevator that way; have the whole ship be one deck. Also, they could move all those servers in the entrance to the scanner room, cuz there’s a lot of empty space there that’s just askin’ for some function, and once those servers are out, they could add an elevator opposite of the door to the cargo area now that the vents aren’t a problem anymore.
After years and years, i keep coming back to this video, and i have to say this ship has charmed me. If i ever do get into Star Citizen, i think this ship would be a go to for me.
I really like the star runner and plan on getting one soon but feel a C2 is in order before the star runner becomes my daily driver. Amazing video as usual! Detail and cinematic shots are awesome.
That wire bundle in engineering doesn't look like a design oversight, it looks like a smugglers ship that was modified by the smuggler. Something I would expect to be all over the place in the Falcon of the Millennium. Also, excellent work!
Yeah, it kinda looks like an inbetween stage from the pristine version that a Lando Calrissian would use and a completely run-down version that a Han Solo would use. It really feels like it has already seen some mileage instead of straight from the showroom; but not too much that it's a 'hunk of junk'. To me this is great as I like ships that have a bit of character and they don't need to be sparkly clean. 😜

I do wish the chess table was closer to the couch so someone could feasibly play while sitting down or standing up. especially seeing how the table is at an awkward level for standing use.
Yeah, or that wall across from the turret seats. That area has more than enough space for 3 escape pods and would provide a nice central location for them. 😀
Wow, this ship is even more bad ass then I thought. Its a solid, all arounder with some cool surprises. Definitely going to upgrade one of my ships to this. Good video. :)
They should just add lockers and storage in corridors where there's empty space. They don't need to have specific purpose. Heck, you want to store 20 Picos? Well, that's where you put'em!
Yeah, there is a distinct lack of random storage. Heck, even in 'Engineering' there isn't even a locker to store your tools. It's just a corridor with compartments for ship components. Now where am I supposed to store my multitools? 😜
Also I noticed a distinct lack of chairs. You need to repair something in engineering? Gonna sit on the floor. Work on something at the screens in the hab area? Better like standing. Your opponent at chess has hurting feet? Too bad! Oh, and the food prep area looks like it needs juuuuuuuust a touch more space to prepare food for more than one person at a time.
@@Theorcman2008 Because there are physical connections there with exposed wiring. I dont really care as it is a video game, but if you are getting into the details, any exposed wiring connection or button is a potential failure/error waiting to happen for a server.
Everything about this from the layout, the turrets even the beds in the crew quarters remind me of the ebon hawk, not sure if intentional but it's brilliant. Millenium falcon is probably the more well known influence but the ebon hawk aka the falcon's in universe predecessor is visually most alike.
I love the implementation of the door locks. Picking up someone and giving them a ride should not allow them to access ALL areas of the ship. If you can lock them out of the bridge, or maybe lock them IN the cargo area, that would allow them to get picked up and dropped off with less risk to your own safety. This had made me think though...can a person with a bounty be smuggled in the lower area without being tracked by marker or scanned by security? Definitely some money making potential there. Yes, there should be some sort of airlock or escape hatch in the main area of the ship and down below. Like the Carrack, having one way in being a ramp really opens you up to hijack. Death of a space man will suck because you can't use the Carrack's med bed for getting back in without opening the ramp. Great video!
On the note about server security, it really depends on the size and setup. A small server room that has lax room security will most likely keep the servers in racks that they can lock. In a larger server room that has multi layered building security, you may see the locks up to the specific door, but then have direct physical access to the racks.
I wish the engines had more thrust coming out of them. Often they look like they are not doing anything even when the ship is racing over the planet surface.
Morph, You done real good bro, real good- on the 600i. It would be interesting to see a new rendition of the Star Runner as it has volumes of "wasted spaces". Moving the servers into the secure scanning area (perhaps expanding the suite), moving the Crews mess/lounge area into the old server room area. Reconfig the old mess/habitation area into a split level - Capt Berth up/2nd berthing area or medical lower. Add 3 additional bunks in each berthing space. Combine command and control (CIC) into the fwd hall with the bridge. Reconfig the 2nd bridge hallway into usable space-remote turrets & drone deployment control areas, with escape pods opposite. Engineering can occupy some of the lower level tunnel space to increase the engineering suite and add a drone/droid storage & repair station. Easily room for Capt and crew of six: Computer/scanner guy, Electronic tech/computer guy, 2 Engrs. (Main and drone), 2 reg crew/turret gunners. With split level can accomodate passengers/guests (2-3).

Yeah! I hope the ship still has some secrets that the reviewers haven't given away.
I guess it could be useful in Squadron 42, as if that's ever gonna happen.
I would suppose those compartments would be useful if they block scanners on routine stops. That way they have no reason to pull you over to get searched. It would make sense that a ship that is use for hacking would have anti scanners on them for defense.
Okay, I counted the Crusader logos. [correction]
I divided my subtotals by painted & embossed logos on surfaces and logos displayed on each door panel.
I also counted by room to help keep me accurate.
There are a total of 55 painted or embossed logos on the interior & exterior of the ship.
There are 22 logos displayed on door panels.

That's a lot of time to burn for a game taking 10 years to leave alpha. Imagine when the game is released.

I got into this game years ago. I'm still learning about it. The more I learn, the more fun I have, the more impressed I am, and the more I can forgive the long rocky road that is the development process.

What I took away:
I agree completely with point number three. Tgere's no meed for the scamner chsir to be hidden, but the data needs to be secure.
Server room swapping is the first thing I imagined when I bought the ship past year.
For the server rooms they should add big glass panels, with a glass door. Make it two separate rooms without obstructing view.
yes I agree I was thinking that. it would also add some class to it.
and it would also give the devs a option to add some cooling effects to the server room. (is there a door between the servers room and the rest of the ship?
Absolutely - first thing I thought when he mentioned the issue. It would look very cool I think.
Just "L" shaped buletproof glass panels, betwen walking space and server racks. WIth some lockable button, if you need do something manualy. And yeah, a Crusader logo on those panels :D
Agreed. I feel like there should be a layer or more of added physical security on the servers in case of physical intrusion.
"secret" cargo bay literaly everyone knows about.
Yeah, they won't be able to get away with secret parts to ships. Will have to rely on holo disguise vs. personal scanner strength type things.

I was thinking that too. look at the cut in the hull right behind the bridge. would fitt... They're experimenting with that kind of escapepod on the Talon, so why not? xD
If that's the case they certainly need to add jump seats to the hall. Escape needs to account for full crew, even if not everyone's getting out.

@@paqx3534 I thinks it still is but we won't get anything like that till we get ship to ship docking

This isn't a "passenger ship" and it isn't a military ship, so I don't see a problem with having the servers and gun racks exposed.
i agree, however, would have still appreciated enclosed gun racks like the 890.
Gotta think the servers need to be cooked, in speculation. So you're walking through the freezing server room just to get to to your habs/rec/bridge.
A fair point, but in a ship designed FOR data security, it's probably best to have a redundancy or two eh?

From an aerospace engineering perspective, they are complete fantasy with our current technology. However, if we can ever fully understand and artificially generate gravity, ans we develop high thrust, high ISP propulsion, I would definitely start my design process around a star citizen concept.

And by the looks of the film it doesn't necessarily need to be a industrial ship but I get your point.

it definitely got the carrack treatment with how chunky it got and i think there is a little too much wasted space. the scanner room seems strangely empty and the server room doesn’t seem to make the best use of its space, and makes it harder for new people to navigate. i would also have loved to see maybe just one or two more windows on the ship. i know it’s based on the millennium falcon, but the sleeping quarters and the rec room feel somewhat incomplete without a way to see the outside.
Great vid. Among Us reference and the Herald in the background add a very nice touch :D
- "L" shaped buletproof glass panels around server racks. So you cant touch them.
- Lockable button, to be able open them, if you need do something manualy.

Theory : the cockpit can detach as a lifeboat, hence the double airlock on it, and the asymetrical shape.

I hear what you're saying about the lack of egress. On the other hand, if the MSR is ever boarded, it makes defending it rather simple.
Only if the pirates boarding you aren't aware of the secret passages, and/or you can lock said passage way doors from intruders.

EG increasing the spread to compensate for the difficulty in precision aiming due to no stabilization
then increasing the Rate of fire to fill that wide cone of bullet spread with bullet hell, until enough shots land on target to achieve the desired level of effect.
Even so, There was more Player on player Hi jinks and gameplay between random people in any random 60 minutes of Starcitizen 2.6 with people just bumping into each other unexpectedly and getting down with the underground, than 60 hours of starcitizen 3.1.xx "gameplay"

This was a little Volcanic Veins induced, but true from the heart, All of it. Because I lived the times when even the worst boring day in the verse was like this ua-cam.com/video/T56ESwfD-7E/v-deo.html ...
A whole lot better back when everything was player driven, not by the Authoritarians that took over and ruined the verse with all their oppressive nonsense.
Mindlessly consuming the next shiny Shiny Cloud Imperium wants to Milk them with.
The game I loved was killed, just like they did with star wars galaxys.

Another great video,
This would have to be the best ship I've seen for personal use.
Keep on creating these videos, they are amazing and very engaging to watch.
Original MSR concept: slim swimsuit model What CIG delivered: BBW
I mean, would you rather have an Origin 100............. or an MSR? give me that BBW Thicc ness that is the MSR
All shapes are beautiful but...there’s something about the thicknesses 🤤
I would prefer the ship still be in that medium size, but ultimately it's not about the size, but the shape language for me. If the final version had just maintained some of the shape language from the original concept by enlarging wings and other areas when they supersized the MSR, the original shape would be maintained, and no one would care as much. As it is, it now has a double chin and a big belly due to enlargements that happened in those areas that did not enlarge the frame of the ship along with them.
The carrack says hi
@@bleachorange then I guess I lucked out, I have no idea what this ship looked like previously. And it seems like I am better off not knowing
been taking a break for about a year, finally happy to see the ship i bought playable. thank you for making these videos, you have a fantastic channel.
instant click
edit: What I really miss is the viewport in the recreation area.
edit2: And that useless corridor to the bridge could have had a second entry point.
and the crew quarters. Even small windows like in the Carrack crew communal areas would do.
that corridor is directly above the front landing gear, which prevents the addition of a ramp or elevator there.
well done Morph, you like making these types of videos and I like watching them.
@@DanakarEndeel If that is the case, don't need to move anything - just use the back wall, I have no issue with that but would prefer the window.
@@ericwollaston5654 Apparently, there wouldn't be any problem to do it as long as there is empty/unused space between "Scanning" and "Recreation" rooms. So the kitchen elements could be embedded in the back wall. A front window could offer a very pleasant view, indeed.
A digital view screen would be pretty cool.
This comment is a few years out of date, but I really wish they’d just remove the vents at this point. Would cut off a few feet of height and you can get rid of the elevator that way; have the whole ship be one deck. Also, they could move all those servers in the entrance to the scanner room, cuz there’s a lot of empty space there that’s just askin’ for some function, and once those servers are out, they could add an elevator opposite of the door to the cargo area now that the vents aren’t a problem anymore.
this made me happy ^_^
honestly, you could go 30 minutes on your ship reviews and i'd be okay with it
He could make a documentary on each ship and I wouldnt care.
After years and years, i keep coming back to this video, and i have to say this ship has charmed me. If i ever do get into Star Citizen, i think this ship would be a go to for me.
The exposed servers are just a GDPR fine waiting to happen.
Excellent review as always Morph!
I wasn’t in the hype for this ship... yet now I’ll probably get one
Also, excellent work!
this!
@@DanakarEndeel right? Like the new owner has only had it 6 months or so and is just looking for how to make it his. Brilliant design!
Ever since I first saw this ship, and the interior, I knew I needed it. Any idea how much it'll be?
@@SpikeWheelGaming During the initial concept it was $225. Rumor has it that CIG will sell it one more time at that price but only as Warbond (cash only) but that one is unlikely to have LTI (lifetime insurance). The regular price will be a bit more expensive though and some people told me that the new flightready price will be $260 now. So a bit more than the original price but if you have an old ship with LTI that you want to upgrade to a Mercury that might be an option too. :)
@@DanakarEndeel I've had this game for 4 years, haven't played much until this year, and I have no idea how everything works. I upgraded my mustang to a titan, then the titan to a cutty black. And I don't know how to get LTI, what melting is, or what warbonds are.
I'm an experienced noob lol
I do wish the chess table was closer to the couch so someone could feasibly play while sitting down or standing up. especially seeing how the table is at an awkward level for standing use.
I'd say that the empty corridor leading to the cockpit would be a good place to put 4-6 escape pods that are embedded into each wall.
Yeah, or that wall across from the turret seats. That area has more than enough space for 3 escape pods and would provide a nice central location for them. 😀
@@DanakarEndeel Yeah, that would probably be a better spot.
I like that. Gives the gunners a quick last minute exit point too.
Wow, this ship is even more bad ass then I thought. Its a solid, all arounder with some cool surprises. Definitely going to upgrade one of my ships to this. Good video. :)
Love the ship so I bought one for myself. This ship is my favorite ship to fly so far. It's extremely responsive and hauls a decent amount of cargo.
in the vid he says you can control one of the turrets as a pilot, is that possible? if so how do you do it
@@Ry1bw I've tried everything, have you figured it out?
@@victordossantos5067 yeah you cant
I always look forward to your reviews!!!
I only have this ship as a placeholder for Starlifter, but yes it's beautiful and falling in love with it!
Morph: no struts like other competitors.
Constellation: stop.
I just discovered your channel. I am really enjoying these videos. Keep up the excellent work!!
I would say, servers need to be protected by glass and all data should be accesible in the Scanning Room computers.
Its a futuristic space game. How do you know they still need glass for protection?
@@Theorcman2008 Because there are physical connections there with exposed wiring. I dont really care as it is a video game, but if you are getting into the details, any exposed wiring connection or button is a potential failure/error waiting to happen for a server.
truely stellar video. Those fly bys looked amazing
Everything about this from the layout, the turrets even the beds in the crew quarters remind me of the ebon hawk, not sure if intentional but it's brilliant.
Millenium falcon is probably the more well known influence but the ebon hawk aka the falcon's in universe predecessor is visually most alike.
fantastic video Morhp! Itching to test it out on the ptu but Im going to be cool and try it next week :)
Never clicked on a video this fast!
Don't nerf movement. Bring other ships up to its flight movement. Feels great.
all of my yes...
Amazing content as always, bud. Keep up the great work.
Good News: CIG have said the lack of another exit was 'an oversight' and are planning to put one in, in future. I'd bet this video helped out there o7
Year later, nothing happened
@@popelidups9217 i think they have bigger problems
I hope the devs watch and take feedback from your videos. They are really insightful
I was waiting on this lol, I was sad when BoredGamer's came out first
Always save the best for last
Quality takes time.
First isnt necessarily better. This is the kind of video that influences buying decisions. The former might as well been fake news by comparison
Needs more heat distortion.
Hmmm when i look at the front of the ship and this hallway... does that maybe disconnect in future as an escape capsule?? It looks kinda sus 😉
The Man, the Myth, the Legend! Probably the most awaited MSR review, and you Sir, did not disappoint.
