It is hilarious. You forgot the two friendship balls. In gen 2 the friend ball is one of the better balls. It sets the captured Pokémon friendship to 200, and you only need 220 to evolve. Sadly this only works on Zubat/Golbat and Chansey, but still. And in gen 3 we got the luxury ball that doubles friendship gains.
@@GetPhiledIn The difference is that the Friend and Luxury Ball have a more noticeable effect in gameplay, it makes Return stronger quicker (in gens with Return and those ball types) AND it makes friendship evolutions (Crobat, Lucario, etc.) occur sooner. So unlike the Heal Ball, despite having a basic catch rate they have benefits that mean something in the long run.
You forgot the Beast Ball. In case it wasn't obvious, this Poke Ball is intended to work on the Ultra Beasts, which it gives a 5X catch boost. However, when catching other Pokemon, the catch rate is actually reduced (yes, REDUCED) to a 0.1X catch boost. This means that the Beast Ball is only good on 11 Pokemon and is completely useless on all the other 1014 Pokemon.

They should add a Money Ball. It acts the same as a normal pokeball, but you get rewarded with money depending on what level the wild pokemon is when caught
I feel like that would be very broken in L:A and Sc/Vi since you can go anywhere and find all the higher level Pokémon, but for the non-open-world games I could totally see it
It's nice that there's so many good Poké Balls, even if there are some duds out there. I regularly use Ultra Balls, Dive Balls, Net Balls, Quick Balls, Dusk Balls, Timer Balls, Repeat Balls, and a few others in playthroughs all the time
For the Level Ball, there are two other things going against it. 1) It's really difficult to obtain, and 2) you get it late game. This is a problem because late game Pokemon tend to be between levels 60 and 70, meaning it's impossible to reach double their level, so it's essentially an Ultra Ball (2×) at best. Even if you could get it early game, low level Pokemon are generally easy to catch, so catching a low level Pokemon with a Level Ball would be like killing an insect with a rocket launcher.

I normally like to use the Moon Ball on Lunala, Cresselia, Ursaluna, Lunatone or Umbreon (so many moon pokemon). Makes you wonder when Gamefreak will release a Sun Ball for Solgaleo, Solrock, Espeon, Sunflora etc...
Another fact about the apricorn heavy ball is that in Sun and Moon only, the lowest a catch rate will go is 0 instead of 1, making Beldum and Tapus completely uncatchable in a heavy ball, since they’re light enough to get the -20 modifier and have a catch rate less than 20, all of them having a catch rate of 3
The quick ball is my favorite to use because I love completing the pokedex. My favorite special ball is the dusk ball by a mile. But the poke ball will always be my favorite over anything
I feel like the fast ball should be buffed to work well on Pokemon with a speed of either 90, 85, or even 80 and above. Maybe 80 is a little too low but I feel like the fast ball should work on Pokemon like Pikachu and Lucario since 85-90 (while kinda slow now) is relatively fast for Pokemon in a casual playthrough
I have no idea how, but I managed to catch a Shiny Xerneas in Ultra Sun with a Beast Ball. I was just throwing any kind of ball and it decided to stay in the Beast Ball. The one that’s like 10x less effective on any mon that isn’t an Ultra Beast lmao
Don't care what anyone says, all the Johto Apricorn Balls look cool. I understand how they are not the most useful, but they all still look really cool.

It's basically like the Quick Ball of Gen II, it's THAT good.
I am genuinely surprised that the beast ball wasn't mentioned at all during this video. Only ever useful on nine different Pokémon & on top of that Scarlet & Violet doesn't have any of those said nine Pokémon within its roster meaning that it is effectively useless on anything you can find in the wild.

I guess the special stats being interdependent on each other was among them along with the Apricorn balls being as specific as they are, especially many of the worst Pokeball kinds
my favorite ball design wise is the Beast Ball but to catch Pokemon I use Quick Ball first turn, a few Ultra/Dusk Balls (depending on the environment) and then spam Timer Balls
I actually had one incident where a heal ball came in handy once. I can’t remember where I was in which game other than I was near the end of a cave. I believe this was in Platinum. All of my Pokemon were getting low on HP and I happened to have a heal ball and only five Pokemon with me, so I caught something with the heal ball and used it to get to the next town.
With the ability to get a ridiculous number of balls from the item printer I match the ball to whatever I am catching now. I did quick ball everything up until I unlocked the ball lotto, or use luxury balls if I want to trade to my brother because they are his favorite.
I once miss clicked on a heal ball when trying to catch a shiny ho-oh and got the catch. I was going to start throwing timer balls after running out of ultra balls. It bewilders me to this day that I even managed such an accidental catch. I went on to shiny hunt a lugia and catch it in a heal ball as well to match I caught it on my 3rd shiny encounter
Net ball was my saving grace while trying catch palkia once, having already used my master ball. Out of sheer curiosity I used it because I was like ' Well it is a water type '. Caught it first go
I usually save Kurt's Balls and other rare Balls for special Pokémon that are guaranteed to get caught. I have most of my Mighty Raid Pokémon in Kurt's Balls, and I caught Ogerpon in a Beast Ball, Terapagos in a Safari Ball and Pecharunt in a Sport Ball. I had to use a Heavy Ball for Blood Moon Ursaluna, because I was out of Moon Balls. In Sword, I caught Eternatus in a Heal Ball just for laughs.
In Ultra Sun, I caught a shiny Feebas by using a Lure Ball. I was training for EVs when this random shiny appeared. I didn't wanna miss the chance of catching shiny Milotic in a special ball, so I used the lure ball. Sadly, it wasn't ideal for PvP, so I used it for breeding. A few eggs later, I hatched an even better shiny Feebas which now is a shiny Milotic in a Lure ball. The friend who helped me with the trade evolution was quite envious... xD I do have a soft spot for the Lure Ball because of that Feebas/Milotic even though your arguments are perfectly valid. ^^
The last Pokemon SV DLC has been such a meat grinder for Quick Balls and Timer Balls with the BBQs and Snacksworth's bazillion random legendary hunt quests. I think I've used around 300 of them total. And yes I used Quick Balls on shinies, though if I wasn't lazy and so over the game by now I have a Ceruledge with False Swipe and a Clodsire with Yawn if I really wanted them to be in cool or color-coordinated pokeballs. But since I'll never see them again after like tomorrow when I'll have finally finished all the special coaches crap, MEH.
One of my favorite Pokeball’s is the repeat ball. The design and colors are just so pretty. Not too practical if it’s a mon you haven’t registered yet though
Top 5 best Pokeballs in my opinion 1. Master ball (Kinda obvious) 2. Quick Ball (Its like a Master ball if it works for the 1st turn) 3. Dusk Ball (Very reliable when its night time or in a cave 4. Net Ball (Majority of the Pokemon population are water. Also as a bonus, works well with bugs too) 5. Timer Ball (When everything else above fails aside from the Masterball, you can always rely on the Timer ball.)
my favorite that wasn’t listed is the strange ball from legends arceus. imo it looks great in most ice type Pokemon. hopefully one day it’ll be item we can obtain
I was sitting here waiting for the luxury, friend, sport, safari, and cherish balls, but then i realized they weren’t included bc the rankings were based on multipliers, which none of these pokeballs have
They probably haven't fixed the Lure Ball because people are only using the Lure Ball in Tera Raids anyway, where capture is guaranteed regardless of catch rate. Because who's going to use a ball that costs SIX FREAKING FIGURES on anything they can't guaranteed capture?
I never realized the Dive Ball was so limited in Gen III. Same with the Gen IX Lure Ball on paper, I skipped these games and forgot they removed fishing. And yes, half of Kurt's creations are, well... balls.
One annoying detail about the Love Ball is that the effect only working on the same species is NEVER mentioned in the English version. Also, was the Moon Ball ever available in a game with the Skitty line catchable?
I've been playing Platinum for the past few days and I'm trying to get all the unknown. Pretty much every unknown I caught was caught with a quick ball. It's just that good! It's also useful for not accidentally killing a Pokémon due to being overleveled.
More or less the only especially great Pokémon that the Heavy Ball's great for are some of the heavier Legendary Pokémon, given that the usual multipliers for other balls would usually only elevate the catch rates to, like, 15 at most (Quick Ball's multiplier of x5 on catch rate of 3, and unless they're a roamer, the quick balls are forced to catch at full health). Heavy Ball's addition boosts, however, would make the catch bonus jump to a multiplier higher than 5 on many of the Legendaries (and Metagross) that are at least 451.5 pounds. Even then, given the same ball's rarity, those same opportunities are sparse at best. The only time I had a good chance to use it was when I was getting Zekrom in SV, and I was able to catch it while at 1 HP and asleep with only one of my two heavy balls.
If you're going to Charlotte Regionals this weekend, say hello if you see me!

The friend who helped me with the trade evolution was quite envious... xD
I do have a soft spot for the Lure Ball because of that Feebas/Milotic even though your arguments are perfectly valid. ^^
Wow. The Moon Ball does NOT not have an effect. It increases the catch rate for Pokemon that evolve using a Burn Heal. *THE DISRESPECT!*
No beast ball? You know, the only pokeball with a 0.1x catch rate on everything and only have a 5x catch rate on like 12 pokemon.
They do at least fill the niche EXTREMELY well, considering Ultra Beasts ignore catch rate buffs of all other balls.
Wolfe Glick lives rent free in Verlisify's head
Yep. Especially since that beef has been going on for 7.5 years now.
@@RFE812 doesn’t even seem like beef. It’s seems very one-sided lol. Verlisify just wants daddy wolfe's attention
@@d.n.3652Yep. The sad part is that Verlis actually turned some people against Wolfey.
@@RFE812 I used to like verlisify content back in the day. He used to make some good stuff. But sadly he chooses not to
@@d.n.3652Same here. I used to like Verlis too but ironically he made me like Wolfey’s content more.
Wonderful detail with Pikachu on the thumbnail. XD
Top 5 best Pokeballs in my opinion
1. Master ball (Kinda obvious)
2. Quick Ball (Its like a Master ball if it works for the 1st turn)
3. Dusk Ball (Very reliable when its night time or in a cave
4. Net Ball (Majority of the Pokemon population are water. Also as a bonus, works well with bugs too)
5. Timer Ball (When everything else above fails aside from the Masterball, you can always rely on the Timer ball.)
I love using the quick ball. I caught 2 out of 3 of the galar birds, and i thought it was really funny.
JPR- The fast ball works on pokemon that can run away during battle
Me- oh nice so entei and
JPR- no not those
Me- what the
I’m a big fan of the Friend ball and Luxury Ball and have had many discussions arguing which is better.
Personally I have a softspot for the Heal Ball, due to it _perfectly_ matching Goodra's (my favorite Pokémon) Shiny colors
Hah. Balls.
Love ball? More like the Love Wins Ball
my favorite that wasn’t listed is the strange ball from legends arceus. imo it looks great in most ice type Pokemon. hopefully one day it’ll be item we can obtain
Ash and Pikachu doing the Drake meme is beautiful.
I never realized the Dive Ball was so limited in Gen III. Same with the Gen IX Lure Ball on paper, I skipped these games and forgot they removed fishing.
And yes, half of Kurt's creations are, well... balls.
Also every time I create a Pokémon Trainer OC, I do use Dive Balls and Net Balls, but almost never Lure Balls.
Pokemon *and* NASCAR fan? I see all that cup merch, you've gained a sub my friend
The Luxury Ball will always be the best.
10:49 Don't think I didn't catch that reference, pal.
The verlis reference had me rolling 🤣
And then there's me. Who catches certain Pokemon in matching Pokeballs. Including the useless ones. XD
Verlisify used the Love Ball on Wolfe Glock 😂😂😂
One annoying detail about the Love Ball is that the effect only working on the same species is NEVER mentioned in the English version.
Also, was the Moon Ball ever available in a game with the Skitty line catchable?
I've been playing Platinum for the past few days and I'm trying to get all the unknown. Pretty much every unknown I caught was caught with a quick ball. It's just that good! It's also useful for not accidentally killing a Pokémon due to being overleveled.
Shoutout to the Luxury Ball for making your friendship evolutions easier and for allowing Return to get stronger faster
Kurt said gay rights in Gen 2 with the Love Balls, very progressive!
Thanks JPR for every other JPR Friday
WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE BALL OUR POKEMON ARE IN
