fun fact: regular Blaziken was actually better than its Mega most of the time because it already had Speed Boost and could hit harder with Life Orb (and let you use a different mega)
I recently caught a shiny kakuna while replaying let’s go and went from disappointed to ecstatic in a moments notice when I realized his evolution could mega in these games. Such an underrated mega
Slowbro has a design that you can change in so many ways. Put the Shellder at his head and you have a Cross gene evolution. Put it on his hand and you have a regional variant. Let the Shellder eat it completely and you have a mega evolution. You know what a cool idea for a regional variant, a pirate design with Shellder as a wooden leg
@@ArcanaEric Actually it is a Shellder. The Shellder on Slowking's galarian form, for example, is the one in control. That's why in the Journeys anime when the Shellder got stuck to Ash and Goh's heads, Shellder could control their bodies. Too many filler episodes I know
I think Mega Garchomp having scythe hands is ok because the point of a mega evolution is that it's reversible, it's like Garchomp is going full combat mode just temporarily
What makes mega Charizard X and y so scary is that because there is two possible mega evolutions, you have to guess which one the opponent will use, guessing wrong will either get you on the wrong end of a competent physical attacker and force you to take a powered up flare blitz, or you get to experience the wrath of high special attack, drought and water type coverage in the form of solar beam
mega beedrill is so cool, because they are like the face of good mega evolution candidates given it boasts the world's strongest U-turn, sort of like mega pidgeot, who instead of being a gen 1 bird who isn't good at anything instead ranks up to using no guard to bypass accuracy checks on hurricane with 135 base special attack, or how lopunny goes from being kind of not good to being a ghost killer with scrappy and an insane speed stat.
I disagree on Alakazam and it's actually because of the reasoning you gave for Gyarados. Keep regular Alakazam (preferably with Magic Guard) on the field until you're facing a Pokemon with an Ability that you can use to your advantage. Intimidate is the most obvious example but that's not even scratching the surface. Being able to choose which Ability to Trace without being reliant on which Pokemon it switches into turns Mega Alakazam into arguably the most versatile Mega if you know how to use it correctly.
Absol is my favorite Pokemon since I saw it the first time in Sapphire. I didn't know it before and I thought, it must be legendary like the legendary beasts in Johto. The lore, the design, it's awesome. The mega evolution - damn, how could they make such a cool Pokemon even cooler?! 😍🙏 It's my all-time favorite
Mega Latias&Latios are truly the worst megas. Terrible designs. I guess the only real benefit to use them is, that mega stones can't be knocked off, so they'll take less damage from it (still super effective against them). But the saddest part is, that their speed doesn't change from 110, so they still can't outspeed Purugly, even after mega evolving.
Well, Swampert has been my personal favorite Poke'mon since Emerald. So, I've loved Swampert even before Mega Evolution. Lucario is another personal favorite of mine, but I don't think people liked Mega Lucario. But I do like the design for Primal Groudon! He looks so much more intimidating than before and the fire type matches well with Groudon's ability. And I think Mega Gardevoir was pretty broken. But Mega Pidgeot seems very forgettable. I don't think I even used Mega Pidgeot even once.
I feel like mega camrupt would be great if they give it drought or better yet Desolate land, it being a litaral waking volcano would make it make sense and the 20 in speed would somewhat balance it.
I remember battling Lysandre and how we were both down to our last Pokemon. All I had left was my Pangoro when he sent out his Gyarados and I was certain he had me beat...until he basically handed me the win when he made his Gyarados go to the dark side 😏

TBH I'm going to defend Mega Alakazam :p It's stats and looks reflect it's unlimited Psychic powers, which already were amazing but Mega turned all of its' crucial stats to 11. It's lower weight, ability to levitate and control over mutliple spoons at once are amazing nod to the fact that it's power grew so much it basically ascends over weaknesses of flesh (it even has mark on its forehead typical to Buddist monks)! The only complaint I have is it's ability... Trace? Seriously? It should keep Magic Guard or get Levitate to reflect the fact that it floats now.

A bit biased, but I love gemstones and crystals and it's a big part that why Mega Diancie is my favourite Mega and Diancie herself is my second favourite Fairy-Type, Kalosian, Generation 6 and Mythical Pokemon overall (only behind Sylveon and Victini respectively) and my favourite Rock-Type Pokemon (though the Rockruff line are my second favourites).
Megas are beloved for a reason but they were far from being the best mechanic. Some Megas never changed their abilities like Tyranitar or Abomasnow and the "wrong" strong Pokémon got one. It's crazy how many Pseudos and legendary Pokémon got one even though they already had base stats of (nearly) 600 or even higher. From 7 Pseudo Legendarys available in Generation 6 got 4 of them a Mega.
Mega Abomasnow looks leaps and bounds better than Mega Manectric... Your validity for critiquing the previous "bad" megas for looking goofy went out the window when you labeled that oversized hairdo "cool."
The 3D models ruined the designs of a lot of these megas, charizard x looks incredible in smash bros and the anime, but looks stiff and the fire from its mouth look like tubes at the side of its face
I don’t know, I’d say Latios/Latias aren’t very overpowered in ORAS. They don’t particularly stomp the gyms, all of the E4 and Champion have a type advantage over them and you get them slightly underlevelled with some okay moves. Sure you can mega evolve them as soon as you get them, but I’ve played thru both Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire without feeling they broke the game. Whereas I did feel that way with Mega Lucario in XY, seriously that boy was insanely strong!
Mega Beedrill will always be my favorite. It takes a weak, boring Pokémon that's mainly just memorable as the Locusts of the anime and turns it into a bullet. A slick, sharp design, its Attack and Speed going from mediocre to dangerous, Adaptability... Mega Beedrill epitomizes the best Mega Evolution: One that takes a Pokémon in need of help and turns it into a genuine threat... Without being Mega Mawile.
I love how your reasoning for Mega Manetric is that it isnt ridiculously overpowered, and then you demonstrate that with a lvl100 manetric on a lvl18 wingull😂😂yeah point proven
one thing that I don't like about Mega Latias and Mega Latios is that, when they are both regular Latias and Latios, you can easily distinguish them by colors, one pink, one blue, very easy right? but when they are going megas, they are both turned into purple colored? yeah, you can still tell the differences, but way harder than their regular form.
I feel like the XY megas were hit or miss given that they were an experimental new mechanic at the time. ORAS overall had a creative and well-designed batch once Game Freak figured out their design philosophy. With that in mind, I’m excited to see how Legends ZA further improves on megas.
Besides Charizard X, I guess Mega Blaziken is a good second since I took Torchic in when my brother stuck to Mudkip after it swept through Hoenn because GameFreak practically discontinued Water/Ground because a weakness they can solve via coverage(Ice/Poison) is bollocks.
People love Mega and want them back. The other gimmicks are just plain lame or boring in comparison. While Megas are not very balanced when talking competitive they are undeniably cool
Who is your favorite Mega? (you cant say Charizard)
Rayqauza
Tbh I dunno… maybe Lucario or Latios? I also love Metagross.
I only really like Latios because of Soaring
Ampharos by far lmao

The 3D models ruined the designs of a lot of these megas, charizard x looks incredible in smash bros and the anime, but looks stiff and the fire from its mouth look like tubes at the side of its face
Mans went full George W. Bush with the "strategery".
There's something real funny about jpr posting his mega evolution video mere days after he missed the podcast where they ranked every single mega.
I love Latios and Latias and was so dissapointed with the megas. 😭 What a crime!
The only big crime mega absol commited is that it didn't become a fairy type
it would of been so perfect man
Lopunny is EASILY my favorite but I also love charizard y, Houndoom, Aggron, and Beedrill.
one thing that I don't like about Mega Latias and Mega Latios is that, when they are both regular Latias and Latios, you can easily distinguish them by colors, one pink, one blue, very easy right? but when they are going megas, they are both turned into purple colored? yeah, you can still tell the differences, but way harder than their regular form.
“Mega Charizard X is a mixed attacker” tough claws + dragon dance entered the chat
haha what mix just spam flare blitz
Bro calls Mega Garchomp goofy looking but not Mega Manectric. Lmfao yeah okay
Pretty sure your views on mega garchomp is a hot take. Plus the fact that it loses 10 points in speed makes it extremely unpopular
Well, Freeze-Dry exists now so I think they can start bringing Water/Ground back
This video is the definition of bad takes
Still good video, thank you
I’m sorry but Mega Manectric is much more goofy than Garchomp and Alakazam.
I love Mega Mawile because she is cute and dangerous at the same time
I wish some of these were just evolutions for the mons not megas
It’s shenron jp..that’s the dragon lol
People love Mega and want them back. The other gimmicks are just plain lame or boring in comparison.
While Megas are not very balanced when talking competitive they are undeniably cool
When i catch a Latios or Latias. I name them Latino and Latina
My fave mega blaziken with sableye as a close second
My favorite is mega Septile. It's design is just👌
What the heck is septile?
