Daughter's dad paid for that dress! No way a hospice nurse would pay that much money for someone else's kid UNLESS she had someone else's money backing her up. Whatever money she had/has, if she's even still working, is play money when the dad is paying for everything. The bridal shower may have ended up being fun but the daughter's telling made it clear to me that Sue was really throwing it for herself, to make herself look good to the dad, and probably to her friends. Daughter said that Sue didn't invite any of her mother's friends (whom I'm sure the daughter knew well and had some connection to.) There's no way Sue could've gotten away with not inviting the mother without causing extreme discord with the daughter.

Why send so many evil texts to him? What a toxic relationship! They should have left each other alone and moved on.

When I was a teenager I dated a guy who was my age and our relationship went on until our early 20s. As a teenager I had a hard time controlling my emotions and so I was easily angered and dramatic (as a few teenage girls are). It got to a point where he became abusive in every aspect, and I truly relate to this case when the wife said she wasn't going to divorce him and that she's willing to stick to his story - and she did this just to save her life. My ex had everyone else around him fooled, he was fighting for human rights and was part of the commission. He was fighting against abuse in the public eye but he was abusing me in every form that abuse exists. Anybody who is a victim of abuse knows this so well and it's absolutely heartbreaking to lie to your abuser and tell them that you love them, when you know deep inside that you're lying just to save your own life. But that there is also a part of you that wishes you were dead and a part of you that wants to escape the abuse. I'm glad she got out of it alive and this guy deserves to rot in hell.

You explain this so well. They use your emotions to their behaviour against you. Your emotions were part of a controlling man. He knew you were an emotional person and use it against you, a good guy doesn’t do that. They accept you can get emotional and don’t let you get emotional and help by backing off and giving you space. Abusers can’t do that. They can’t back off it feeds them. But they flip it and blame you. Sad but true. Once you decide they can’t affect your emotions anymore, you’re int trouble because they know it’s over.

I think when you look at the seriousness of Susan's injuries and the superficial wounds on Michael, it is obvious who really was wielding the knife murderously. All the witnesses attesting to Michael's good character mean nothing. What goes on in private cannot be compared to what happens in a social, public setting. Of course you will be on your best behavior at work, etc.
