Adriana and Christopher's deaths are the two most impactful scenes in my memories of the Sopranos!
They make a point to show him noticing the baby seat is destroyed in the back seat too. I think that was the final nail.
The song on the radio when Tony realized he was on drugs was a cover of Comfortably Numb from Pink Floyd and the guy sang “the child is grown, the dream is gone”.
And of course, not a coincidence
Ironically it’s the same song Tony is singing in the beginning of ep 17 Walk like A Man.
Van Morrison cover
Walt fuckin' Whitman ova here
Walt f. Whitman ova here
Remember Chrissy is actually Carmela’s cousin not Tony’s nephew even though he’d call him his uncle.
I think he's related to both Tony and Carmella, in a roundabout way.
Goes back to the old country@@mrgmusicclass
Its an italian thing lol
So fun fact… the very first scene with Tony and Cristopher together in the show Chris was wearing a baseball hat, the scene Chrissy died he was wearing one, only 2 in the show, and both were in cars Chris was driving 🎉
Guy in the restaurant was wearing one...until he took it off
They don’t serve hotdogs there
@@jrchapman8515The icing was his "how you doin" to the guys date
So what?
@@jrchapman8515 How you doin?
The Roulette scene where Tony hits 3 straight times.. It looks like he puts a $25 chip down to start. Hitting a specific number like that is a 35x payout. Assuming he bet all of his chips back on a number the next time and the time after, he turned $25 into $1,071,875 in those 3 spins. $25 hitting one number = $875. $875 hitting one number = $30,625. $30,625 hitting one number = $1,071,875.
He doesn’t feel it because Tony is a sociopath with zero empathy
Exactly. Tony does not care about any one. The closest people he cares about are his children.
I remember the episodes of Tony been in the hospital and Asia said
"Why doesn't any one respect Tony. Tony cares about his people"
😂😂😂
I was like. Are we watching the same thing? Lol
I disagree. Tony looking at the baby crib is what ultimately made him take his life.
@@johnnyskinwalker4095he used the car seat to justify his decision, Tony just wanted him gone because he was a liability
@@bajorekjon it's both
Except he is not, he is a psychopath. He has a very strong empathy towards animals and people who can’t protect themselves.
Tony are Peyote. It's a Cactus that contains Mescaline which is a potent psychedelic, so yeah he was tripping.
People rarely see that Dr Melfi never helped Tony, she basically enabled.
Christopher is my fave character in the series, but he was definitely a problem and it was best that he was no longer around Tony and the crew; and since they're in the mafia, there's only one way out, so... RIP to Chris.
I agree. He was my favorite as well. There were no dull moments with Christopher.
100 correct. I've been using 'the ILLUSION OF CONTROL' since the 90s
Yea he was always a problem
I'm sure Tony wished Chris was around as the final events of the series were unfolding.
I thought almost everyone mustve realized that lol. Its all but literally spelled out. They make it as clear as possible without actually saying it.
I can't believe you are shocked that Tony HELPED Chris die? He wasn't around anymore, he was causing internal beefs, he was back using...all of those things make him a PERFECT target for the FBI to flip him. And while Tony didn't know that Chris was contemplating flipping, he can read between the lines. Also, he is Carmella's cousin, not really Tony's nephew.
💯
“Helped him die” is crazy
@@joeduncan08 not really.. odds were he was dying right there anyways.
@@Johnny2Feathers maybe, maybe not. Still murder
@@joeduncan08 yea .. but maybe mercy killing
You guys should check out Nurse Jackie with Edie Falco. She was so good in it. I wasn't sure how I would see her as anyone other than Carmela, but she was great as Nurse Jackie
As Diane Whittlesey in Oz, was my rendition of your 'Nurse Jackie', but reversed. She was remarkable in Oz, but ever so greater in The Sopranos.
Omg YES!!!!!!! Killer show!!!! Good call !!!
Nurse Jackie was emotionally difficult for me to get through. I don't think I could watch it a second time.
Christopher realizing he gave up the woman he loved and parts of his soul, for Tony who doesn't care at all. He has nobody he can really talk to or to encourage him. Even the AA friend isn't there for him.
Who jt? Wont see him no more.
I think he forever regretted not leaving with her. She was really all he had.
I still remember when I saw episode 18 for the first time almost 17yrs ago, I was shocked then and I still get chills even after the 100th time seeing it
Tony knew Christopher was a loose cannon and was loosing grip. Tony is very efficient in the art of self preservation!!😳😬👍
"Is this all there is?"
The turning point to the end, in one line.
My soul when Tony did that to Christopher 😢
This is the episode where Tony is full on sociopath. Kills Christopher, tries to hook up with his girl in Vegas.
Tries?
I had the pleasure of meeting James Gandolfini outside of the play God of Carnage in New York and he couldn’t have been nicer. This was late 2008 or 09, but fresh off The Sopranos. He hangout and spoke to fans after the show for perhaps 30 mins. Seemed like a “normal” down to earth guy. I believe he would’ve been just fine had BJ called him Tony in passing. RIP.
Funny, my dad met Michael Imperioli on a plane back when they were filming season 1. He had no idea who he was until watching the show a few years later and recognized him. He seemed like a humble guy.
James Gandolfini usually went by “Jim” when you met him. I met him twice, but neither were long conversations.
"f***in' James Brown now" 😆😆😆
The “I get it!” at the end was his response to that flash of light, higher power. He feels that Christopher was the negativity in his life and now that he’s gone, better things ahead. The gambling luck was symbolic.
He said “I did it!” He was finally able to take credit for his action and didn’t have to pretend to anyone.
@@diggyb1003 nope. He said “I get it!” Interpretation up for debate tho. To me the gambling streak of luck after all his bad luck told me the negativity was gone in his mind and Christopher was the source. Sociopathic mindset.
I think also tony realize all the shame the guilt of being a psychopath, finally he's accepting that he is a psychopath because he did something truly horrendous and so far no punishment has befallen on him. He feels empowered to continue his criminal career without caring about his immortal soul.
No this is just the turning point for Tony where he sort of realizes that he's a piece of shit, he'll always be one and it's the moral justification, the constant attempts to rationalize why he is the way he is "We're soldiers"/"You are what you are"/"It's about family, loyalty, honor etc". That is what causes the tension and depression.
He's dropped the pretense and is just internalizing the guilt and letting it go. Which in turn is taking a huge weight off of his shoulders. The point is it doesn't matter what Tony "gets" like with Caitlin's car seat it's just another BS justification, makes no sense when all he did is orphan her on further examination, but Tony isn't thinking that deep on it. It's just an excuse.
@slimjimjimslim5923
Tony was a sociopath, not a physchopath. A physchopath has zero empathy for family, friends, or animals... All three of which Tony loved. Tony especially loved his family... His children in particular, and we all know he loved animals as well. Many physchopaths hate animals and like to torture and kill them. Tony would never do that.
I quit drinking 14 years ago and being around my lifelong friends is somewhat similar to what Chris is dealing with in the first episode. It sucks. When you quit, you're supposed to change the people, places and things in your life. THAT'S EVERYTHING!!! Chris is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He can't just quit the mob and change his friends. Episode 2 should be a banger!! (watching the series for the first time with y'all☺)
Christopher murders his AA sponsor and Asia says, "He just needs some love" LOL!
The actress with Tony in Vegas is Sarah Shahi. She's a stunning actress inside and out. She's also in Person of Interest, a great series with Taraji P. Henson as well. I highly recommend it!
"I don't like Christopher when he's swerving...." LOL....!
Don't worry, you can relive the family over again rewatching the show.❤
You guys are fantastic
yeah i've watched the whole series 4 times lol. very rewatchable
YOU WOULD LOVE "BLACK SAILS" "SONS OF ANARCHY" 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 "NURSE JACKIE" with Edie Falco👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
If you notice there’s a theme in the show where Tony enacts vengeance on people who are either negligent or cruel to those who can’t defend themselves, and those are often the people Tony has a soft spot for or takes a liking to. Just like Ralphie killing Tracy then killing their racing horse Pie O My for the insurance money in season 4. Tony saw that a tree branch pierced the back of the SUV right where Chris had the baby seat before he decided to close the phone and suffocate him, because he knew had Christopher been driving while high with his daughter in the backseat he’d have killed her. Still one of the most shocking and cold blooded on screen murders. Shit FEELS personal as a viewer.
I don’t agree at all. Tony smothered Chrissy, saw him as becoming a liability more and more
@@JohnJohnson-ze1gg You're both right, Tony needed a reason to justify killing Christopher, that was it. That's why he weirdly keeps mentioning the baby seat to people after it and it's so out of place. Because he's justifying his death. Truthfully, Tony subconsciously wanted Christopher dead after the Cleaver episode, because Tony found out Christopher subconsciously wanted him dead. Christopher was a huge liability and drag on Tony.
As the show states at the end through that book that Melfi reads, Tony shows empathy for animals and babies and justifies killing through it. He killed Ralph over a horse and Christopher over the babyseat. He wanted them both dead, but those things gave him the reason to do it.
Not to mention Chris porking Juliana, the real estate agent, it didn't help him either
@@kylio95And Chris being with the female estate agent , Julianna really didn't help him
@@mariozd971 Yeah that too, it was already building for a while, he basically says this to Bobby on the boat, that Christopher is no longer his guy to go through, and he wants Bobby to be that guy now and moves Bobby up.
But the Cleaver episode is the episode where Tony is completely finished with him. That scene with Melfi after Carmella tells him, he knows Christopher hates Tony.
You cant trust a junkie, Christopher was chosen by Tony to be his number 2 and he became a weak sniveling junkie. The end was relief for Tony as the black cloud was out of his life. His luck returned.
In a previous episode BJ complained he hated losing money gambling on lottery tickets, I think. Buddy, you hit the lottery jackpot landing Asia. Beautiful inside and out.
Thanks yall. You should watch The Drop [2014].
The actor that played Tony Soprano [James Gandolfini] is in the movie and so is Tom Hardy. It is the last movie that James Gandolfini was in.
One way to ruin the movie experience for someone is to mention that there's a twist near the end. Now that's all the person is waiting for rather than getting to enjoy the film and the shock of a possible twist
That first real heartbreak as a teenager or early 20’s is rough. You feel like you’re never going to love again. Man those were the days lol. If you’re in your 20’s enjoy your youth because it goes by so quickly.
When he has the epiphany in the desert that "he gets it" he realizes not only he is relieved from Christopher's death but moreso he doesn't ever have to put on two faces again (like that quote he read in Season 1).
That he is the monster he actually is (minus the little humanity he had with his immediate family). Realization for us too and soon others. That he is free to be his true self. He lied throughout the whole series with every sentence he saw and we witnessed it.
This episode seems to me to be the point of no return where Tony just accepts that he is truly evil with no intention of ever even trying to change thus the "I get it!" at the end.
Love watching this with you. As a bipolar alcoholic with RA since I was a teenager I really felt this. I feel bad for Christopher. I love the scene when Tony is talking about his son and depression, he gets choked up talking about how it has infected his son. I tear up every time I see that. Amazing acting by James on that. He says he can handle it, I get that, I am alive still somehow through everything. Everyone has something they are going through, things hit different for different people. I get what Tony did, snuffing out a problem.
29:45 "The child is grown. The dream is gone." It was at that moment Tony realized he could live without Christopher. His expression says it all.
Asia is pissed at Tony. "They ain't right " lol not impressed at all. Fabulous reaction ❤
Peyote is a small cactus. Parts of the cactus crown may be chewed or soaked in water to make tea. And poor Christopher this is showing Tony's true nature.
You didn't seem to notice the part where Tony looks back at the destroyed child safety seat in the back of the vehicle right after Christopher said he couldn't pass a drug test. I feel that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
It was Tony's excuse he needed to justify murdering him. He subconsciously wanted him dead for a while, because he knew Christopher subconsciously wanted Tony dead after the Cleaver film.
It was building, Tony saw his opportunity and took it.
Chris is one of the most layered characters ever put to screen. On one hand he’s a hardened criminal , will kill without thought or remorse and extremely violent. On the other he’s a sensitive guy who constantly feels pushed around by everyone. Groomed by the devil himself aka Tony to be a good little soldier. And he was also somewhat of an artist who had dreams other than the criminal underworld.
What a long journey you have taken us on, 3 more episodes, lots of mixed emotions... crazy!
Tony killed Christopher because he looked at the car seat with the tree going through it and knew he would never stop drugs and probably kill his kid.
yep. he saw Chris as a lost cause
That was the justification, really on a sub-concious level, Tony wanted Christopher gone for a long time. He never had what it took to be boss with all the nepotism Tony threw on him and Chris' status as the black sheep and a habitual user filled Tony with anxiety about Chris flipping on him. Tony wanted him dead, this was just the perfect opportunity with the perfect BS moral justification to make himself feel alright for killing his own blood/ basically his son, when he is the whole reason Chris is the way he is. The dream with Melfi where he admits that he doesn't care that Chris is gone is the truth because it's coming from his sub-conscious. He even went and banged Chris's goomar because he's that fucking petty over the real estate agent.
Ah yeah, good guy Tony. No he killed him because he was a liability to Tony. They make it even more obvious how full of shit Tony is by having him go be with Chris' girl and do hard drugs, showing that you're apparently allowed to do drugs all of a sudden.
Nooooo- that's not the reason Tony killed him. That's what he tells everyone in order to justify killing him in his head but the real reason Tony killed Christopher was Tony's own selfishness. Christopher was a liability because of his drug abuse and alcoholism- Tony even says in a later episode that he was constantly worried that Christopher would rat on him if he was caught by the FBI either with drugs or under the influence (similar to what happened to Pussy). Tony saw his opportunity to get rid of Christopher with that accident as he knew Christopher would always be a junkie and a liability
I doubt he give a damn about Christopher's kid. i saw that excuse was more of a way to justify his actions to himself since the murder was purely for his self preservation. Even at the funeral, tony used the car seat story to diminish peoples grief for Christopher.
Just finished the last one! Great timing
That part with Chris was brutal...Tony felt like he was going to put the baby in the same situation...Great writing
Christopher was too big a liability.....
This one is going to be rough. I enjoy watching you guys watch this show. You two are great.
Y'all should definitely check out James gandolfini in the movie 'True romance' . . His character is what I think Anthony cld've been like when he was younger, and even a bit Colder. . Would love to check that one out with y'all and see your reaction. . . It's going to suck when you guys are done with The Sopranos. . Im gonna be disappointed all over again there's no more episodes to watch lol. . It would be cool to see you check out some of his movie Rolls tho. . . Another good one is 'The Mexican' . I think his character in that just might surprise y'all a little bit.
Awesome reaction of my favorite episode of The Sopranos!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I think that Tony noticed the baby seat in the back destroyed by that tree was the last straw. Christopher was drugged out and wreckless, probably driving like that with the kid in the car.
What he "gets" at the end of the episode is still debated today. Maybe that he just has to embrace abandoning his human feelings and will be rewarded? (Killing Christopher leads to a turnaround on his gambling luck.)
This shit with Tony runs in the family.... his dad and Junior and Dickie were his examples. After these last episodes go check out Many Saints of Newark for Tony's upbringing, which James Galdonfi real life son plays a young Tony..... it's FANTASTIC
Love your reactions to the Sopranos!!! Will miss when it’s over!!
You guys missed where Tony saw the baby seat in the back and realized that he might have driven high with the baby in the back.
Tony took peyote in Vegas. A powerful psychedelic cactus that provides a hardcore trip Edit, and it was used for centuries by indigenous people to cross into and visit "the spirit world" they would hallucinate and tap into all the secrets of the universe - Tony was in such a psychedelic state that he was having what they call a moment of clarity, when everything makes sense and you've figured out life and the universe
He absolutely went to vegas to not have to be annoyed by people crying and grieving over chris because he feels 0 grief nor guilt over killing chris. He literally said as much lol.
❤Christopher became a loose end Tony knew he himself would deal with eventually. Never take a solo car ride or boar ride with Tony. MUSIC reaction y'all will love is Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. Silvio Steven Van Zandt is an amazing guitarist and it is so fun to watch one of their videos.
Don’t forget, Tony called Chris a curse or bad luck because he started winning after his death.
In that moment after the crash, Tony had a sudden realisation that Christopher would never be the man that Tony wanted/needed him to be. Christopher would always be susceptible to drink, drugs and his own temper. A challenge for a made guy- definitely not captain/under boss/boss material.
My husband begged me to tell you to watch “The Collector” because he loves seeing Asia’s scared face!
There’s a theory that the hat Chris was wearing has a hidden camera in it
Hidden microphone
"There's something wrong with Tony." That's been clear for a very long time on this show.
Tony was "prostate with grief"
Yes James Gandolfini RIP him and Kobe both the goats
James Band old in I players General in comedy "IN THE LOOP".👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😄😅😂👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😂😂😂
Always a joy to watch your reaction videos ❤
We were all waiting for this one 😂
As the sun rises over the mountain it flashes which is a call back to the lighthouse in Tony’s coma dream from earlier in the season. Tony makes the connection, but his “I get it” can be interpreted several ways. If the light house serves as a beacon it can be seen as Tony coming home in a moral sense. He has made peace with who he is (a terrible person) and no longer will fight his own nature. Combine this with the relief he feels from Christopher’s death, Tony has fully sunk into his most depraved form.
Tony's I get it was him telling himself that he just needs to do whatever he needs to to help himself and screw anyone else. It's him embracing his true nature.
Enjoyed it. Love Yall
Tony killed Chrissy because he was using drugs again. He was a liability. Cold indeed.
Guys, after this show, you should check the movie "The irishman". It has a the same vibes as this last season of The Sopranos
Tony saw the branches Through the baby seat in the back seat and Christopher was impaired.
Before Christopher went for treatment, Tony warned him that the only reason he was still alive was due to their relationship; and that if it had been anyone else, they would have been gone already. His relationship with Tony was the only reason he was given a second chance. Tony warned him that he wouldn’t get another. So once Christopher admitted he was on drugs, and Tony saw the car seat, Christopher’s fate was sealed.
Tony knew that Christopher would never be able to give up drugs and he didn't want to keep dealing with the disappointment that brought.
At the end of the psychedelic trip, you figure out things you never would’ve otherwise.
'My cousin Tony, they shot his face away'. 😂 who is they?
I already know when they watch the very end of the series what Asia is going to say. She’s going to say “You lying!!! You lying!!!”
Watching right now fam 🎉
Christopher was a mess when he was using and a true liability when he was sober. There was no way he could have lived any longe either way !....Love you guys❣❣
Tony went to call 911 but after seeing the baby car seat and imagining him doing that with the child in the car that's why he had a change of heart and did what he did
When Tony and Christpher are driving (right before the accident), Christopher is wearing a "Cleaver" ball cap. He NEVER wore a baseball cap before (except the pilot episode). Remember the Masarone construction guy was wearing a wire in his cap. Not a stretch to think that the feds found out about Christopher killing his AA sponsor (likely the feds were watching him). They had Chris dead to rights for murder unless he cooperates. He was fairly angry at Tony anyways.
Tony found a way to rid himself of a liability. Got back into drugs and Tony had enough.
Gandolfini and Edie Falco (very deservedly) get a lot of the plaudits but Michael Imperioli was so good as Christopher and deserves a lot of love. One of the great tragic characters in TV. To see how it ended with his and Tony’s relationship was sickening.
great reaction guys
Good catch. Christopher killing jt was one of those huuuuge plot holes lol. Unless Chris actually became an informant (there is a relatively strong theory that chris was wearing wire when him and tony got into that car crash and tony killed him. Christopher never wore a hat and that cleaver hat looks like those fbi hats with that micro camera). How would nobody around chris not notice and hear that jt was murdered.
That method of murder that Tony used is known as “ Burking “
Tony's off the chain !!!
lol your expressions are the best
Tony has more empathy for AJ than carm
after seeing many saints of newark Chrissy's death is even more surprising and baffling
One thing I find interesting about the perception of Christopher's death is that everyone looks at Tony in the context of a human, NOT a mob boss. No one disagrees with his choice to kill Tony B, a loose cannon who killed the brother of the second highest man in the NY mob, but they disagree with his choice to kill an emotional, unstable drug addict who was literally high while driving his boss around, resulting in a car crash. I'm as sad as the next guy to see Christopher go, but Tony's choice was not a bad one (for him or the mob).
Yep. Chris became too big of a liability
Ironically, right around the time the second episode (Christopher's funeral) was filmed, James Brown did die on Christmas Day 2006.
The Awesomeness that Is Continues!! 👊😊✊Only a few more Episodes to go! 🤔😲👍😊👌🍁🍁
Last time Tony say to Chris: your alive only because you my nephew. He didnt give him second chance with drugs
You guys need to react to "The Drop" & " Enough Said". Gandolfini's last 2 films .
Tony took paotie and it takes 10-12 hours to wear off
Chris has always been a torn in Tony's shoe. And when the accident happened he came up with the conclusion that there was nothing more to be done with Chris. He was a lost cause. At the end there, he realised that Chris not been there anymore was a big weight lifted off his shoulders.
It would have been way easier for AJ if he didn’t have to actually see Blanca anymore!
It’s like in high school seeing your ex in the hallway. Your heart breaks all over again!
Tony had warned Christopher that if he relapsed that he would have him killed. Christopher’s drug problem made it probable that at one point he’d get busted and rat Tony out.
Many characters died till now in 6th season- Chris, Eugene( the guy that hanged himself) , Vito, Ray Curto, Tony's crew is shrinking
And Johnny Sack from NY
