It’s wild to me that split screen is abandoned when modern screen resolutions and game hardware is so much better. Dividing up the screen wouldn’t leave out as much detail as before.
@@DarthMirasshtar the 360 remake was pretty good too! Idk if you ever played it but it definitely kept the same feel as far as the 4 player split screen went
Cod and human fall flat have always been my go to games but great video man I feel like the death of split screen has been suddenly unnoticed but is something I’d love to have back
@@hunternewell9173 human fall flat is one I’ve been meaning to get around to. Look like a ton of fun. Thanks for the kind words, and for watching. I really appreciate it!
As anticonsumer as they are, Nintendo still does a decent job of keeping couch multiplayer alive with the exception of Splatoon. Mario Kart is still a great experience to play locally with friends and family in one place. Smash is a good time that you can take as seriously as you want depending on what demographic you're playing with. Kirby, Mario 3D World, and Mario Wonder are pretty solid multiplayer platformers. Out of these, only Mario Kart is technically split-screen, but I figure local multiplayer is close enough to the topic. However, Nintendo's online is easily the worst in the industry, so that's a significant trade-off.
I completely agree, Nintendo’s biggest selling point, past there family friendly games, is their local play. Smash, Mario kart, and Mario Party alone each offer endless hours of replay-ability with friends. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@BurnoutJack It's really rare to find comparable local multiplayer games of that quality elsewhere. There's a reason the only modern game console I have is the Switch. Almost everything else can be experienced on PC. Even Sony's exclusives are coming to PC after enough time passes. However, unless you break the DMCA in some way (even dumping your own legitimate copies for personal use technically violates the DMCA if you circumvent copy protection), Nintendo's games are only on Nintendo platforms
I think this is one of the reasons why Nintendo is selling more consoles than Microsoft and Sony. Nintendo still holds on to what consoles have over PC which is couch co-op and great exclusive titles you can’t get anywhere else.
Don’t worry! I try and keep my videos mostly informative including this one, and there’s many other videos on my channel praising games/publishers for what they did right. Like my Isonzo, Halo wars 2, or squadrons videos. Just hating/complaining isn’t something that I want to be known for, so I strive to add context to the complaints people give and only really go negative when I feel it’s necessary.
Personally I love having the option, and both together is a ton of fun! Online split screen has been, and still is a blast imo. Yes it increases the demand placed on the hardware of a console, which is a point I bring up in the video, but I also talk about how it could still work and give examples. Appreciate you watching and leaving your thoughts, thanks!

I’d be fine going back to older resolutions when playing split screen, If that’s what it took for the feature to be in more games
I blame the internet.
We need more games like A way out me and my dad played that a few years back and it's by far one of my most memorable gaming experiences
It’s such a great game! I’ve played through it multiple times with others, and was always met with an fantastic experience
Goldeneye, perfect dark, timesplitters... the list goes on...
Goldeneye is still one of the best split screen games ever, which is insane given the amount of time since it released
@BurnoutJack facts. 4 player split with Power weapons on Complex or Facility, some of the best times of my life.

was gonna say.. if split-screen fortnite can be as solid as it is, other devs can totally add that feature to their games
nice video as always 🙏
Thanks man!

We have internet now, no need split screen which is more demanding to run and the console has to render two instances of the game at the same time
