Lancaster Archery Supply TechXpert P.J. Reilly reviews the all-new Traverse and TX-5 bows introduced by Mathews Archery for 2019. - Спорт
Thanks 4 showing all the new Mathews bow and the prime line up 2019 is amazing year 4 archery .
Thank you sir. Always well done.
How are the limbs on the Traverse? Are they super Pascarella limbs
I wish they would've implemented the switch weight technology into the traverse as well. P.J., what is your draw length? I'm 6'1" as well with a 30" dl and while that's nice for some aspects of archery it can really suck on other's, like the draw cycle for example. Just curious to hear your thought's on this, in particular for the vertix.
My DL is 29.5, but I like a 29-inch length for a hunting bow. It feels more comfortable in tree stands. The draw cycle on the Traverse is nice. I like this bow so much, I'm planning to get one for next year. I can't say yet if I will definitely put down my Halon 32 in favor of this bow, but I plan to put it through the paces and see how it stacks up. My gut feeling is it will surpass my 32 and I will make the switch. But that's based on very limited time with it. It's a really nice bow that I'm excited to shoot.
Traverse is just a 33" version of the Triax plus has a 6 5/8" brace height. Much less extreme and only 5fps slower.
It's a little more then that
@@Hoytshooter Sorry 7 then 😂
Thanks for the great reviews I have a 26 in draw pulling 60 to 65 pounds am looking at this and the Matthews avail . You mentioned on the elite ritual 30 that it’s 88 percent effective . That being said with your knowledge which bow do you believe I would get the best Performance out of . ? A little help would be much appreciated keep up the great reviews thanks.
The performance from all these bows is going to be very close to onee another. What you need to do is shoot them all and see which one feels best in your hands.
By definition the tx 5 isnt 345 ibo since it is measured at 29.5 and not 30 (ibo) am I wrong?
The ibo is most likely calculated or otherwise inflated on almost any bow anyway. I never trust the ibo and I just chrono bows myself.
Not sure how you say absolutely the integrated rest will not move. Hoyt did the dovetail in the riser in the 90s. Had a couple. Mechanical fasteners can become loose. the same is true here. Seems like a "review" would state the facts and not the jargon. The Traverse is fantastic. doesn't't need the ads quoted as fact.
So on these two you can’t change draw weight with the mods like the Vertix. Is that correct?
Correct
Currently considering the Traverse or the Vertix. I tested the Vertix at my local shop however I popped my shoulder pulling (from what i believe was improper drawing) it at 60# and didn’t like how it pulled. What’s your experience with the Traverse vs Vertix in this case? I am also 6,1” so DL isn’t much a factor as they both cover me.
Both excellent bows. Personally, I prefer the Traverse, and one of the reasons is the draw cycle.
The treverse has a better draw cycle I also can shoot a 30 inch bow good but you'll like the 33 more
Will the traverse be more effective accuracy wise at longer distance hunting?
Usually the longer axle length bows are more accurate.
craig fugate thanks!
@@TSNOutdoors no problem, I'm actually interested in the traverse myself. I had a triax, it shot well, but for me it just felt too small of a platform. I went back to am Elite. But this new traverse has perfect specs for me.
craig fugate yea I currently use the halon 6 for m channel and it does pretty well at longer distances but just not quite good enough
@@TSNOutdoors yeah I like a 33, or 34 inch platform myself.
That's what you notice with the new hoyts too lol
The triax IBO is 343fps, and with a 6" brace. So with the tx5 you're losing and inch of brace and only gaining 2fps? I think most people should stay with the triax on that note.
And you are losing an inch of draw length capability, so of course you will lose some speed
@@haydensanson1158 true. I just domt see a reason for them to produce that bow woth a inch shorter brace and only gaining 2fps, and it's literally a triax clone. But whatever I guess lol
It's meant for short draw archers, so they can maintain speeds and energy.
@@derekbereza yeah I understand that, it goes down to a 23.5" draw length.
I’ve heard you can add 5-7 FPS to that because triax is IBO at 30” while tx5 is IBO at 29.5
Forward sweep means torque..watch it twist on the shot...mods that adjust weight are cool....but why not just make longer limbs bolts that go 20lbs? But Still cool! Still I hate needing mods to change draw.....traverse should be a very good bow.....mathews needs new limb pockets and roller guard....very old design.....hate needing top hats and draw mods, they should be free..rotating mods that change weight would be cool....draw length change with different releases or when hunting or shooting tournaments...hard to sell when they don't fit a customer.....mathews has alway had the best finish...even old bows still look new
Doesn’t the tx5 and the Traverse have the mods that change the draw weight as well, like the Vertix?
Why would I choose one model over the others? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each compared to the others? How am I supposed to know which one to get when there are a lot of similarities? Just curious.
Shoot them both and see what feels right to you
No body can tell u what you like. You have to try them
Flip a coin!
hello sir , I love your reviews so thank you for all of them . i have an honest question for you . Which bow between the elite ritual 35 and the mathews traverse would you recommend for mostly 3D archery with some hunting in the fall . I have a 29" draw and i am 6'4" tall . Thank you for your time
Honestly, you cant go wrong with either. They are both super for 3D. The difference will be in what feels best to you, personally.
I have one little question. Is the draw weight Mathews Traverse setting the same as Vertix just by exchanging modules? Thanks
No...The Traverse does not have the Switchweight system built into the Vertix. For the Traverse, each bow is only capable of weight adjustment within a 10-pound range, such as 60-70 pounds. And you make your adjustments within that range by turning the limb bolts.
@@LancasterArcherySupply Thank you very much for your answer. It's a shame it would be my choice. I will wait for the new model, maybe make a bow in this size with a power setting like Vertix. The system stunned me.
@@montysail3192 the switch weights are nice but wasn't a big deal for me my 60 pounds limbs on my traverse max out at 62 pounds and I usually just leave it there and forget about it but it would have been nice to have if I ever decide to go up to 70 pound's but I can always just buy 70 pound limbs no big deal
@@Hoytshooter: Buy is a problem in France. All need to order and wait. Last time I waited 7 weeks. A change in terrain too limbs can not. Modules yeah.
@@montysail3192 ? you can change limbs with a bow press off course but it is easier with the switch weight mods but like I said I usually just leave it maxed out anyway and I have no reason to shoot 70 or ,75 pounds for what I'm hunting or 3d
I don't do commercials. Don't we get enough of them?
Can you say which camo uses each bow in the review?
Nevermind. I think they are Optifade Subalpine and Ridge Reaper Forest.
I'm more interested in the range.
if you wanna feel hand shock shoot a glock 20 10mm.
