- We are excited to welcome UA-cam entrepreneur Marques Brownlee to the TXG Fitting Studio for a club fitting with Ian Fraser. Beyond reviewing new tech products, including electric cars and gaming devices, Marques is also a professional ultimate frisbee player.

MKBHD is very disciplined, he’s a millionaire who loves golf and has kept the same clubs for 10+ years. I’d probably be buying clubs left right and centre 😂 having said that I don’t fiddle with my clubs much either I just like looking.
I’ve played lots of rounds at my uncle’s country club recently. 80% of the members have 10+ year old clubs and they’re all millionaires at this club. I’ve always had the newest clubs in the group. They like their old sets and don’t want to update. They also don’t like unnecessary cost, unlike me who updates clubs every 3-5 years.
@@booksiebhoy I think they realize you can only change a piece of metal to hit a ball so much. The technology really isnt that different from 10 years ago, if you hit older clubs well then new clubs will mean you have to hit them differently to get a couple yards but golf isnt about a couple yards, its about consistency. Thats why a scratch lady golfer will make you look like a fool even though she cant hit as far as you.
most serious golfers dont change clubs cause they fear change of what theyre used to.
I love this series for a couple reason. You can see that Marques' analytical traits and his ability to articulate and convey (developed from his work on his UA-cam Channel) come to the forefront. Sprinkle his athleticism from other sports and it really is a great mix and discussion between the 2 of you. Thanks for the great content.
You guys consistently kill it in terms of content but this “series” is on another level. Congrats on the success!

Ian, these videos are so educational for the average person. Not just what a fitting looks like, but always talking about specs/data that are ideal so the average person can make sure their fitting is ideal.
Been watching MKBHD since his very very early days of UA-cam and I've never been more fascinated by another content creator. His approach to unboxing reviews is on another level just way above anyone else's and his attitude is always bar none top notch. Not to mention his attention to detail and the awesome drive he has on the athletic side as well. It's been a real treat to watch his driver, iron and putter fitting on the channel. Would be super exciting to watch him record a round of golf some time. Definitely excited to see more to come from TXG as well. They're videos just knock it out of the park every time. Great job all around guys. Much appreciated!
MKHBD takes Ian’s advice very well and tries his best to execute what Ian tells him. This video really shows how not just putter fitting will be but all your fittings will be!

Marques is clearly excited throughout all of this series. You can see the grins on his face as he's hitting it well. It shows how much he understands the mechanics and numbers that are being given to him. It's fun to see someone that's tech minded like myself bring that comprehension to golf stats. This was a great series that makes me want to go in and get a full fitting as my skill set in both tech and golf is very similar to him. Hope we can see more from him in the future!
I loved the quintic fitting at TXG. It took a few tries to get the ball rolling instead of skidding. Looking forward to getting my new putter.

Lovely. TXG fitted me this fall for the same putter, for roughly the same reasons. So far I love it. Of course, I wish I could putt as well as Marques.
Got fitted on a putting machine similar at a PGA Tour Store showroom. Tried all types of putters and ended up in an Evnroll ER5V at 35" myself. Fantastic putter, just wish I could get on the course more often!

The consistency and precision of MKBHD's putting stroke is remarkable.
His pace also seems to be spot on. If his green-reading comes anywhere close
to matching the accuracy of his stroke, then he'll be putting at a pro-level.

These are great videos. MKBDH looks to be a far better golfer than myself, but even so, it is great to see you get into the numbers and explain everything about the fitting.
Why are you guys calling him by so many initials. honestly I'm a huge baseball football and golf fan and have no clue who this guy is?
He's got more initials than I have letters in my first name.
so he obviously doesn't play one of the big Sports and perhaps should have a few less initials in his name, who is he 😂

One of the best fitting series and episodes I've watched since back in the days of Sam, subtle changes throughout and great gains within an already good golfer. I've got almost an identical putter to Marques' gamer, Odyssey Ten TT FB SL with Microhinge, would have been interested to see what Ian could do to someone's own putter to make it better like bend a putter to alter loft or change grips to give a better shaft lean maybe? then they would be leaving with a putter they already like.
Great video for comprehending not only putter fit, but what's going on dynamically when putting.
It is almost a pity that Marques is so good at putting as it makes harder to see the benefits of getting a putter fitted. Putting is very personal, take Nicklaus for example, his body position looks very awkward, yet it works for him and he was an awesome putter.
Dr Bob Rotella's book "Putting out of your mind" is probably one of the best training aids I have ever used and Brad Faxon refers to Rotella as the master in this part of the game, if I was to give any advice it would be to read this book before getting fit for a putter. Buy a putting mat and practice what Dr Rotella is talking about.
Also the other thing I will say about the video, the type of putter grip and how that's fitted can make the single most important difference to your putting. I recently changed my grip to a Kotahi tear drop grip and it's made a massive difference in the consistency of where and how I place my hands on the putter. I use a Tour Edge Wingman putter which has a slight curve on the face which increases MOI by creating a squaring of the face at off centre hits, which is not common for me now given I have embraced the ideas and concepts in Dr Rotella's book.

I'm really intrigued by watching a professional level athlete in another sport transfer some of those same skills to golf. Marques definitely has the potential to become a really excellent golfer with some practice and refinement.

More player fits like this. All different caliber of player, swing speeds, celebrity. It’s by far the best thing on the channel. Not a huge fan of manufacturer reps in to sell product. Seems like an infomercial. Just my 2 cents. Appreciate the free content.
Have you guys ever done a video of someone going out and playing with the clubs you fit them to? It would be interesting to see MKBHD’s take on his new set on the course.

Recently I've been trying to feel "hitting down" on the ball with my putter and it seems to make a much nicer more pure roll. I just need to figure out distance control/power and I feel like I'm onto something good.
The Science says to have an Upward Angle of Attack while slightly Delofting the Putter Face at Impact.
You may actually be doing this while you Feel you are "Hitting Down".
Would love to see how you assess alignment and aiming of a putter during a fit.

I’ve been told I have a straight back and through stroke but I have a putter with 60 degrees of toe hang, putting is my strength, so I supposed I adjust to it somehow or have a stroke fault which makes it work, I’m usually slightly out to in
With any Level of Athleticism, a Player is quite capable of adapting themselves to a Putter.
Player fitting to the Putter, rather than the Putter Fitting the Player.
You should do a course video with him!

Simple answer is YES.
Toe Hang SLOWS the Rate of Rotational Closure of the Face coming into Impact.

Hi Ian Great 👍 Video as usual But can this “super putter stroke machine” improved your putting? I am not so sure! In 2002 i bought the Dave Pelz’s Putting Bible to improve my putting it had the opposite effect, my putting was always one of the stronger part’s of my game, after a couple of months struggling with putting (following reading the book) I cleared out the thought’s from my brain) and went back to holing putt’s, Note’s:- However Dave Pelz’s Short Game Bible has helped me maintain a excellent short game, Dickey 9hcp 75year Senior Golfer

Hey guys!! Big fan of your content BTW! I have a question (hopefully it has not been asked 10000 times already)
Is it me, or this type of test is no realistic? let me explain: You test the roll and face angle on a 12foot straight putt on a perfect condition carpet with no bump and ball spike repair that is extremly fast... Require almost half of a stroke lenght that would normally be required on any public course, even in tournament condition for that distance.
Don't get me wrong, you guys are so professional and great, you have all the knowledge and the test in theory is great and nicely run. I am just wondering if the tester would get the same results in terms of face angle and ball dat in and outdoor test on a real true ''ok condition'' green around 9.5-10 speed?

My point is: Can any average golfer achieve ''Tour numbers'' or close to '' tour numbers'' when all variables are eliminated? And isn't the point of fitting is getting your club and numbers dialed for real life golf? Because (for me) i will for sure not have the same numbers of face angle and ball launch on a 12ft perfect carpet runing a 13 or 14 indoor with no wind comparing to a ''ok ish'' green runing around 10 with 8/10 mph wind on a tournament day. And that's the real important data...

@@lacoste_tri4402 All a Golfer can do is Deliver the Best Strike on the Ball consistently. This is measured with the least amount of added "variables"
I understand what you are getting at, because I realize that in 50 years of playing the Game, I doubt that I have ever faced Two "IDENTICAL" Putts from outside of 6 Feet from the Hole.

for whatever it's worth - that first putt went dead center in the cup and the machine read it as flirting w the right edge
Could be a 10 different things that caused it to go in right edge.
