  • Getting custom-fit golf clubs can dramatically impact a golfer's game and just their overall enjoyment.
Yet the club used most, the putter, is rarely fit.
Going through a putter fitting can be a game-changer for not only your aim, starting direction, and speed control, but it will also have you leaving the fitting full of confidence with the flat stick.
Check out how we utilize the Edel putter fitting system to help give our students a confidence boost because they know they have the best putter for their game.

I got my putter fitting at the GOLFTEC in San Antonio with Daniel. The laser test blew my mind. So you not kidding when you say it was eye opening.

How do you tune speed at 5ft?
How can you call it a fit when you just stick them in what’s comfortable for them currently (lie, length, grip size) and never question it.
I have been fit at Edel headquarters and this experience is nothing close to what they offer.

We start by fitting for length and lie and keeping the grip to what they feel comfortable and then change just one thing at a time.
In this video we tested for length at the beginning with the sight line.
Had his eyes not been looking straight down the sight line Nick would have then adjusted the length or if he had started choking down to see straight down the sight line.
Then Nick did adjust the lie angle by going 2 degrees flat on his putter head.
We start that way in all our putter fittings and then proceed to the aim test.

Hi Thanks for the info. Are any PGA pros using it? Thanks Fred P

Hi Fred, Thanks for the view. I'm not sure what tour players have the Edel Putter in the bag but this fitting system can then be applied to any putter once the head design, line design, length and lie, and hosel type are found. The only piece is the weighting of the shaft for speed gets tricky because most OEM's don't offer much change in weighting and counter balance but the aim piece would be dialed in.

Hey Derek that is very interesting. Have you done study's on this or come across this in an article or book? I'd love to look into this more.

I enjoy the info within this video. Although, the thing that stands out to me the most is Nick's condescending tone and use of ridicule. I'm sure he believes it's just banter, but it comes off as cruel and adversarial to me (especially in a video this length). I would recommend dialing it back. Again, the info is great, but the constant ridicule coming from Nick makes it cringey and difficult to watch.
    Hope this helps.

I agree. I like the intelligent analysis and candid factual approach Nick offers. But the condensending banter is evident in other videos as well. I don't believe it helps the Golftec image.

From what I could see on the video. He sets up too far away from the ball. His eye is significantly inside the line and the toe on the putter is raised quite a bit! Why did you not address these issues?

Hey Robert thanks for the view and comment. You make fair points here. The big thing is that this was a putter fitting and not a lesson. If someone comes in and wants to be fit for the putter they rarely want us to give them a lesson. That being said if someone is really struggling with their putting we can have a conversation about going through our putting assessment first. Here is a video that shows what all is involved in that session. ua-cam.com/video/2TUy_jw8z7Y/v-deo.html

Your reply about the toe sitting very high as being a putting lesson issue. I disagree completely. You address his hands forward caused him to aim left and you mentioned it a couple of times. I would expect as a fitter, addressing the putter lie is as important as the length, balanced or toe down, weight etc..
